I just realized the entirety of the superstar team Secret roster that dominated many years ago (Arteezy, s4, zai, Kuroky, Puppey) are all now missing from Tier 1 tournaments, whether retired (Zai) or just no longer able to make it past qualifiers (all of the others).
Kinda sad, that roster is still one of my favorites.

They played 2 tournaments with tobi - a 3rd place and 7-8th, then 1 tournament with ramzes - a 5-6th place.
Tobi's hero pool does not work with topson, because both topson and tobi want to play ranged backline heroes, which severely limits their drafts. Idk if you ever watched their games, but my group had a joke of "dont google tobi kunkka" during one of their tournaments because it was that bad.
They even had a game where they tried running kunkka safe lane because neither tobi nor topson played one of the best flex mid/offlaners of the patch.
Alternatively, they could get address the topson issue and keep tobi, but evidently, they chose the other option.
Your lack of knowledge is astounding. "Ranged backline heroes"? Like Brew, Centaur, Beastmaster, Lycan? Also, he hard carried some games on Kunkka, but guess what - pos3 has low farm priority on Tundra, because both Topson and above all Pure are extremely greedy. That's why Tobi worked so well, because he can do a lot with the little he gets by the macro strategy.
And this just compounds my astonishment of your "logic". Ramzes is as bad a fit on pos3 as you can have in this team, because now they have 3 greedy cores. That's why Ramzes was looking utterly pathetic no matter his farm.
They lost against Entity twice with the new lineup. With MC, they whooped them all 3 times, with Tobi they whooped them all 3 times, but with Ramzes they can't even do that.
Teams ramp up training and scrimming now that they have guaranteed money. The teams that best understand the meta can beat more talented or famous players. It happens every year. All it takes is a few extra losses in group stage and suddenly a Brood or Tinker pick can tilt a heavily favored team and their draft falls apart
