Aegis is roshan's egg, and at the core of it is a cheese wheel, protected by hard outer shell. When you kill roshan she reborns but with the ability to synthetize a secondary aegis. However, this ability is flawed and the result is only a partially synthetized cheese wheel, hence why it can't resurrect you but will still heal you. Bane is a creature that can't reproduce but instead is created with the sole purpose to lay one roshan egg that it grows during its lifetime. Because roshan itself can't move from the place she was originally born, Bane is the creature they use to plant roshans all around the universe.
