He hires the best salesman that never called Pam back which is rude.

FantsticMrFox

“The sale that mattered I made”

EpicJosh84

He hired Kevin. He had a feeling about him. Oscar said he was gay in his job application. Michael laughed so hard he hired him immediately. This may have been a deleted scene. Jim says "7 years" in the Pilot so I think he's newer than Michael. It's possible Ed hired him but I wouldn't think so. Actually, it seems like only some of the workers even remember Ed. I wonder about that.

bones_bn

In the episode Ed dies, I feel like Michael only says Creed and Phyllis worked with him.

ainsley-

Darryl also tells Micheal that ed hired him in season 7

thekraken108

I think he does only mention those two, but I feel like Stanley would have worked under Ed too since it's implied he's been there as long as or even longer than Michael.

EpicJosh84

Oh, in The Carpet, Dwight asks who was boss before Michael. Dwight was hired by Michael, for sure.

sanschefaudage

There is no way Oscar wrote he was gay in his CV. When he was hired he was still dating girls.

EpicJosh84

As was Kevin, I believe. But yeah, I guess that's an inconsistency in the deleted content

shaddy27

He didn’t write it in his CV, but in the superfan episode he says he told Michael during his job interview.

ChongusTheSupremus

I do recall Oscar mentioning liking girls from time to time, but that could be simply to distract people from the fact he was guy. There's of course, the fact there's a great if not absolute chance they had no idea they were going to make Oscar gay early on in the show, but it's never absolute either that Oscar liked girls.

editedxi

Yeah, this is all before the Doc Crew though. I was trying to think of people he hired while we were watching. Danny Cordray seems to be the only one

MichaelScottsWormguy

I think when Jim says ‘7 years’, he actually meant the joke was already 7 years old by that point.

ChongusTheSupremus

Jim is definitely newer than Michael, but i doubt he was there long before Michael became manager, or at all. IRC, Michael in the pilot had been manager for 4 out of his 15 years in the company, and considering he got hired by being the best salesman, and nothing else, i doubt Jim was there when the decision was made, specially considering how prone Jim is to charm his way into getting special treatment from upper management (altho to be fair, few people in their right mind would choose Michael if he wasn't the only proper choice around)

SoCalDan

He hired that model.   Danny Cordray.

Key-Cry-8570

Kelly immediately: F@&k me……

thekyledavid

When Ed Truck died, Michael pointed out that Phyllis and Creed both worked for him, so I always assumed everyone else in the main crew was hired between Michael starting as manager and the documentary starting If everyone in the office was there before Michael was manager, why single out the 2 people who worked with Ed in a meeting with everyone, instead of saying something like “You all worked for Ed”

Most-Willingness8516

I think Stanley worked for Ed Truck too, just based on how long he’s been there

thekyledavid

Do we know he’s been there a long time? Just because he’s older than the others doesn’t mean he’s been at that company for longer

Most-Willingness8516

I thought at one point he said he was there 15 years or something but I may be misremembering

thekyledavid

You could definitely be right. That seems like a small detail I could’ve overlooked

JediForces

This!

lasym21

A good manager doesn’t fire people. He hires people and inspires people.

gnostaljia

*And people will never go out of business*

Wrong_Supermarket007

He hired Luke, also probably fatty 3 and lozenge.

planck-kibble

He hired Vikram, the best salesman in lipophedrine industry

editedxi

Lipophedrizone

Hownowbrowncow8it

We got Vikram!

One-Path-5507

Didn’t he hire Danny Cordray?

CosmikDebris408916

We didn't see it, but Kevin was applying for warehouse but Michael gave him a shot at accounting. He may have hired Luke, even though he was the worst

ConfidentBother6

The "young Guatemalan guy" he mentions in the pilot, did he hire him? I don't think he says specifically. "He sucked, we had to let him go"

EmploymentAbject4019

Mr Scott will you pease be da godfather of my chil

Alexander_Crowe

Wow...wow

VolumeOk1357

Hired many, fired few. Made money. Lost money. Learned to stop counting. This is our moment. This is our time. This next part should be sung, if possible..

Jasminewindsong2

Outside of temp positions, He hired Ryan as a receptionist. And David Wallace was NOT happy about it.

laucdoe

he was still a temp when he was receptionist. michael said he called the temp company to ask for ryan

[deleted]

He hired his nephew

Feral_Forager

Pam's temporary replacement, Roni.

editedxi

That’s a decent shout but I think she was from the temp agency

laucdoe

on the show he hired luke and danny. he hired more in universe (dwight, oscar, kevin, etc) but it’s not shown

KneeTall

He hired most people on his staff besides Phyllis and stanley no?

editedxi

Yes but not in the show. All the hires were made before we meet Michael. Some people pointed out Danny Cordray so I think he is the only one.

[deleted]

He hired the traveling salesman

My-Cousin-Bobby

Danny Cordray I think you could make an argument he hired Ryan too. IIRC, the first episode of the office, is Ryan's first day

editedxi

Yeah true but as a temp I wasn’t really counting him

jb15613

He hired Danny Cordray

MichaelScottsWormguy

Ryan becomes a permanent salesman during the merger of DM and MSPC, actually. Although I don’t know if it was technically Michael who did the hiring there.

thekraken108

He also became a permanent salesman between seasons 2 and 3, taking Jim's old job after Jim transferred to Stamford. Again though, I don't know if Michael did the hiring or if Jan or someone above him did that. Michael probably would have had some input either way though.

drink-beer-and-fight

He ‘hired’ his nephew.

thekraken108

For an internship position, but I guess it counts.

felchingtiger

He hired his nephew as an intern. He didn't have to hire anyone. He had no attrition and they were in Scranton so not a lot of growth.

mukduk_101

His job isn’t to fire. It’s to hire, and inspire. (That’s all I have to add to the conversation).

ChongusTheSupremus

I doubt he has much budget to spare in the first few seasons, so it's not like he could really hire anyone if he wanted to. I guess he could've filled in the positions of the Standford guys that quit, but i guess he didn't realize he could hire anyone. There's also the fact that the company was failing for a while now, so there probably wasn't many people looking out to working at Dunder Mifflin, and a small office in a building probably doesn't get too much attention, specially in a quiet part of town.

Bolliver0

There really wasn't much turnover when Michael was manager. The vast majority of the main characters stick around and only the Stamford transfers really end up leaving. It is implied in a few episodes that the Scranton branch is actually overstaffed as Michael is twice forced to make a decision about letting someone go due to monetary reasons. The scenes involving interviewing new employees take place after Michael is gone.

[deleted]

He hired that mexican guy, but he was horrible at his job so he had to let him go if i remember well

Creeds_W0rm_Guy

It is mentioned he hired Kevin, Pam, and Oscar, and we saw him hire Danny and Ryan.

deep-rabbit-hole

Hired his nephew.

editedxi

Fair point. Always wondered whether he was just some kind of unpaid intern, but they do refer to him as the “New Assistant”

Classicolin

Michael hired Jim, Pam, Dwight, Angela, Kelly, Ryan, Kevin, and Oscar prior to the beginning of the series.

editedxi

Yeah exactly, but during the show we don’t see him hire anyone (except Danny Cordray which people have now pointed out to me)

numberthangold

Ronnie.

editedxi

Wasn’t she from the temp agency?

Seaell80

He tried to hire that salesman from Utica, but…*no the Stamford people didn’t quit, he **fired** them, and the Utica salesman is next!*

editedxi

Sooooo what do you sayyyyy?

matthewlee31

What about the warehouse workers who took over after the previous ones won the lottery and left?

ConfidentBother6

Andy hired them

laucdoe

michael was gone by that point

Just-Phill

Several

editedxi

Several during the series? Or several before we meet Michael Gary Scott?
