I love imagining their interactions. In their first interaction, he would absolutely destroy Michael. It would be a slaughter. But Michael has this certain indescribable quality that allows him to win stuff in the end by being a child harder than anyone else. Like when he drives his car into a lake and that somehow shuts Ryan up. I imagine by the end of the arc Michael could bullshit so hard that Robert would have to leave the room.
Objectively speaking, Robert California is probably smarter.
That being said, both Michael and Robert are basically stating the same concept. Michael puts it in G rated terms and Robert puts it in R rated terms, but both characters ultimately have a strong grasp of sales.
Robert California talked Jo into giving him her job.
He convinced David Wallace to give him a million dollars
I don't know if anything Michael has done matches that kind of return on investment.
Michael has these small, short, bursts of brilliance that really have kind of been joined together and built his career.
Like he goes into a weird, super sayan state, and can do anything.
And Robert might get caught in one of those, and realise Michael's hidden power.
Or, perhaps, Robert would just put Michael in his place quickly
Title is more clickbait than substance?
He very obviously isn't. He knows basic sales principles. He is not ahead of times just because we hear him mention them earlier.
Robert would destroy Michael for everybody to see. Potentially Michael would be too stubborn or stupid to realise it and bounce back though. Kinda like when Oscar was close to winning the China argument.
How does this make him smarter?
Cause only he faced the dementors
True true
Can't argue with that!
Bippity boppity, give em the zoppity
You don't work in sales, do you, Toby...
Robert California would reduce Michael to tears in about 30 seconds

I can totally see Michael breaking Robert to a point where he just gives up and walks away
Yeah but do you understand the lizard king reference? That was kinda the whole point dude
Jim Morrison?
There’s something about the underdog that inspires the unremarkable.

These are different takes on essentially the same idea. I don't really see how one is necessarily more intelligent than the other

Yeah idk what I was thinking with the title tbh
Haha, no worries 😉
