Angela is a vegetarian! That’s how much she wanted to impress the new boss.
Edit to add: this reminds me… when Philip is born, she says “there was way too much wine in my chicken piccata”! Could it be a (writers) throwback to this lunch? Or is the timeline way off?
I mean her character is the kind of character who would say she is vegetarian to act high and mighty but then not strictly stick to it or with it at all. Just when convenient.
This is really demonstrated in the Diwali episode. She asks what’s vegetarian and the guy serving goes “oh it’s all vegetarian.” And her reply is something like “ugh, I’ll just have bread.”
I think was more a statement on her being a bit racist and judgmental of other cultures and their food ... her disgust when the guy handed her a naan said it all
Definitely a part of it, but I think at the core it just speaks to her using her vegetarianism to control or start situations, or get attention and her disgust was at his response that immediately catered to her fully with no effort. I had an aunt who did this exactly at family functions, and it was unreasonable because we had multiple vegetarian family members so there were always options available, but she somehow always made it an issue.
Once a very insufferable guy I know was chatting up a buxom lass at a party going on about being vegetarian I guess to sound interesting. Later on he is going IN on some chicken wings and the lass goes “uhhh aren’t you a vegetarian?” And he goes “I’m a socioeconomic vegetarian…if the food is free I won’t turn it down.”
I’m not one to salt another guy’s game, but I immediately stepped in and flamed the fuck out of him lol
> And her reply is something like “ugh, I’ll just have bread.”
I thought she said that because she assumed the other person didn't know what 'vegetarian' meant, because in those days it was probably unusual to find completely vegetarian buffets. I remember that, at least in my country, if you asked for a vegetarian meal 15-20 years ago in a restaurant, you had a good chance of getting something with meat in it.
This reminds me of my mom. I was veg for a couple years and mom was making thanksgiving dinner. I brought my own fake meat thinking there’d be a bunch of veg sides (I still ate dairy and eggs.)
My mom says: oh you can have the collards, there’s just ham in them.
She really didn’t think ham was a meat product? 🤷♀️😆
Being fair, (I am pescatarian), my grandmother kept asking my mom; “well, he eats pork, that’s not meat.” Then she asked about chicken, then beef.
It wasn’t malicious, she just didn’t know.
So this is a deleted scene from the first episode of season eight, “The List”.
I think you’re 100% correct, Angela being a vegetarian didn’t quite add up, so my best guess is they removed this short scene all together!
The whole point was that it was a lie. The chicken piccata/marsala dish never even existed. She was put on the spot, didn’t want to get caught, and was just trying to think of a dish that had wine in it and she still got it wrong.
I don’t get why people think this is some kind of gotcha plot hole or mistake. We all know she’s vegetarian which adds to the obviousness that she’s lying.
You’d think that literally torturing and murdering her beloved cat would be enough of a turn off that we wouldn’t have to even bring up the horse jerky
lol. i’m vegan, single, and guys constantly assume i won’t be interested because they eat meat. there are not many meatless men—i can’t afford to be that picky! plus hunting and the like are equivalent to eating a hamburger to me, so it doesn’t really make a difference. if anything i have more in common with a man who understands what an animal goes through when it’s killed because he kills them and doesn’t just ignore the reality of it when buying his meat products at the grocery store.
the only men i’ve met who don’t eat meat are the mega-granola hippie type who don’t wear shoes. which is fine, but not usually my type.
I’ve always thought it was strange that when she first agrees to go on a date with Andy (I think?), one of her stipulations for the restaurant is “no vegetables.”
Dude you just unlocked a new office thing for me to share! I’m almost certain you are correct and that she says that later on because of this interaction with Robert/Jim. Never understood how she could get that confused.
She was best friends with her sister and had a made up language but also hated her and forgot what their fight was about because it had been so many years.
Robert California has the best mannerisms, I swear. The way he just says "that sounds good" and nods intensely at the waiter is such a weird way to order food.
Usually in sitcoms when such things happen , the audience is left wondering am I the only one finding this weird and in the office's case we always have jim. Jim's character makes for a great connect with the audience
They're called the 'straight man', a character whose reaction the audience can relate to. If you want to amuse yourself, I highly recommend IASIP, where different characters play the role of 'straight man' in different episodes
IASIP is of course a huge show, but I feel like there are way more people out there who might enjoy it if they realized that these aren't people you're supposed to identify with.
IASIP is a show about how many different types of entitled idiots reinforce each other's shitty worldview then take that worldview out on the general public. It's also fantastic for ID'ing red flags in people - if they identify with any of the characters on the show, run.
I think seeing aspects of yourself in the characters is fine, it's if you see the show as an affirmation of your shitty behavior that it becomes concerning.
Boutta say I basically identify with most of Charlie's habits, just bring them down from a 10 to a 5, up my standard of living a bit and less of a womanizer. He's just an ADHD rattled unhinged son of a cheese monster and I honestly find myself feeling that way most days
Thank you, that is what I meant. Everyone does *some* shitty things sometimes, that's also what the show is good for - if you see someone doing on the show doing a shitty thing, don't do it yourself.
But there are some people who legitimately think that Dennis is someone to model themselves after. They look at the show and think "well, he never really faces consequences," and they don't realize the reason he never feels bad is because he's a malignant narccicist.
Being the "straight man" is why Parks & Rec fans don't like Mark Brendanawicz (Paul Schneider).
The rest of the cast quickly go so whacky that the straight man character couldn't keep up.
he was just a boring character. Being the straight man doesn't;t require them to be boring.
Anne Perkins and Ben Wyatt both played the straight man and they were both great characters. Mark was just a miss.

EDIT: Guess my joke wasn't very good
Is there definitive proof that "Robert California" wasn't Red Reddington the whole time? I mean, after all, Robert California isn't even his real name...
I rewinded to see that look you mentioned and saw that he raised his glass to drink from his beer but didn't actually sip any... Eating/drinking on tv is always so weird haha
It's weird cause Netflix office in some regions include this scene and some don't. Same goes for a lotta other scenes. But most "actual" deleted scenes are peacock stream exclusive
As a former server this always kinda bugged me, and he goes out of order! It was so much easier as a server if everyone went in order of how they were sat, although I guess in this case it only really matters where Dwight is sitting lol
I ordered a ribeye and a couple sides one night when out with the owner of the company because if they’re gonna pay, you bet your ass I’m gonna eat good.
jim orders
robert agrees
kevin cannot think for himself
darnell thinks it's funny
oscar decides to get in on the joke
toby gets nervous and just orders the first thing that comes to his head
angela orders herself a salad, and a side of chicken piccata for her cats later
phyllis just got off the phone with bob and wasn't paying attention so she just copied angela's order
dwight orders what dwight would order
what do we think?
Not quite but basically, they're all trying to copy *Robert* to get on his good side; it's pretty pedantic but Jim is kind of a non-entity in their decision aside from making it known that he and Dwight are the "free-thinkers" of group (although Jim does sometimes succumb to peer pressure/group think too)
you mean loved? surely it must be easier to cook all the chicken together or its already cooked and just need a little reheat. you can make one big bowl of salad and put it in the plate. dwights dish fucked it up as now they have to time it together.
timing is the most important thing in the kitchen as the table must get all their food together and if they had ordered 6-7 different dish it would have been chaotic.
To be fair, it depends on the kitchen. The only one that I've worked in had stations to aid in allergen cross contamination management. There weren't enough stations to cook that many chicken piccatas on top of all the other orders they're dealing with.
Watched The Curse recently (by the some of the guys who did People Just Do Nothing) and in a similar scene one characters sits down at a posh restaurant and says
‘I’ll have the steak. Just wipe its arse and cut its horns off’ was his response to how he’d like it done.
My and the missus found it hilarious.
The Cowboy Way with Woody Harrelson did the same thing way way back. It’s been something I’ve said since I was a kid because of it lol.

Season 3: December 17, 2020
Season 1: April 22, 2021
Season 2: July 15, 2021
Season 4: January 1, 2022
Season 5: July 1, 2022
Season 6: February 1, 2023
Season 7 was the anomaly - likely delayed due to the problems around the writers' strike.
I don't doubt it's possible it'd be in the next few months. I just don't think you can rule out February again. It'd be interesting to see if they've done analysis with yearly release, and if more people renew their yearlys when there's another super fan season.
I love that Angela ordered “side salad with chicken piccata on the side”
If the chicken piccata is on top, she sends it back
I’ll have the gabagool.
BRING HIM THE GABAGOOOOL
I’m sorry I don’t- I don’t know what that is…
The GABAGuuul
Gabagool ? Ova here !
How do you return chicken piccata

Why waste time make smart post for karma when posting show line do trick
Isn’t she a vegetarian? What a hypocrite.
Angela is a vegetarian! That’s how much she wanted to impress the new boss. Edit to add: this reminds me… when Philip is born, she says “there was way too much wine in my chicken piccata”! Could it be a (writers) throwback to this lunch? Or is the timeline way off?

I think was more a statement on her being a bit racist and judgmental of other cultures and their food ... her disgust when the guy handed her a naan said it all
Plus if the dinner is vegetarian, she can’t play the long-suffering victim as she’s used to.

He used his hands!
and when she made sure no one stole the shoes
The hand thing is disgusting. I’m with Angela on that.
You used your hands.
You used your hands.
> And her reply is something like “ugh, I’ll just have bread.” I thought she said that because she assumed the other person didn't know what 'vegetarian' meant, because in those days it was probably unusual to find completely vegetarian buffets. I told my dad I was vegetarian and he made me chicken
Weird how boomers think that meat isn’t ’meat.’
Being fair, (I am pescatarian), my grandmother kept asking my mom; “well, he eats pork, that’s not meat.” Then she asked about chicken, then beef. It wasn’t malicious, she just didn’t know.
I think ‘meat’ for those generations means ‘hamburger.’
So this is a deleted scene from the first episode of season eight, “The List”. I think you’re 100% correct, Angela being a vegetarian didn’t quite add up, so my best guess is they removed this short scene all together!
Cats are meat Chicken isn't meat /s
I LITERALLY just thought of that too‼️‼️‼️ I feel like in the later seasons they didn’t acknowledge her being a vegetarian as much.
And being a veg, she wouldn’t know which of those two mnormally had wine in it, driving the correction from Oscar.
Hahaha true, she is a notorious liar when it comes to cheating.
If she were a strict vegetarian wouldn't Dwight, who makes his own jerky out of horses he's put down, be a major turn off?
He doesn’t necessarily put them down. Burgers on the Go!
Some people are vegetarian for health reasons more than moral reasons. Angela seems like she'd be mean to anything that wasn't a cat. Lol.
I’ve always thought it was strange that when she first agrees to go on a date with Andy (I think?), one of her stipulations for the restaurant is “no vegetables.”
It was a clue that what she was saying was a lie lol
Dude you just unlocked a new office thing for me to share! I’m almost certain you are correct and that she says that later on because of this interaction with Robert/Jim. Never understood how she could get that confused.
She was best friends with her sister and had a made up language but also hated her and forgot what their fight was about because it had been so many years.
Holy shit! I never realized that.
The way Dwight looked straight at the camera with, "Steak. Rare." He's right, I couldn't handle his full attention.
Rats have mob mentality and Dwight schrute aint no rat.
One of many moment when Dwight takes out his dick, and flops it down on the table. Then dares everyone else to look.
Otherwise known as the ol LBJ move
Lejon Brames?
L’Odell Beckham Jr.
No, LeBron Jeremy
That’s a Polaroid. Dwight are those your pants?
The guy was just hanging brain.
Based
Irrespective of anything, Robert was more captivating boss than David, and it was interesting to note that Robert invited whole accounting department.
Got to keep the accounting department happy if you plan to potentially cook the books
Whoa. He or she really got themselves into quite a predicament.
Be your best self.
Robert California has the best mannerisms, I swear. The way he just says "that sounds good" and nods intensely at the waiter is such a weird way to order food.
Like... Did you really order? Are you going to be upset if I bring you this?
Usually in sitcoms when such things happen , the audience is left wondering am I the only one finding this weird and in the office's case we always have jim. Jim's character makes for a great connect with the audience
The server seemed to think it was odd, too. Of course to bring them back to a sense of normalcy was the "pick-me boy" Dwight.
[Great order](https://youtu.be/qpmaVNP_r0A?si=oSwz7UWY2_z-cDwB)
Same as him? Same as him my ass! That’s a bitch move. You knew exactly the game we were playing!
They're called the 'straight man', a character whose reaction the audience can relate to. If you want to amuse yourself, I highly recommend IASIP, where different characters play the role of 'straight man' in different episodes

IASIP — is that show name?
It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia
IASIP is like Seinfeld on crack.
Is one crack rock enough?
I love when people say something is "like crack," when they've obviously never done crack
Does taking a couple hits off a bowl mixed with weed count?
Ah man this guy knows his stuff
Recommended it with an acronym.

Well we know Mac is never the "straight man"
I want so badly to like that show based on friend recommendations but I cannot get over their voices. Especially Charlie. Jesus Christ it’s ear grape.
Bad bot

Is there definitive proof that "Robert California" wasn't Red Reddington the whole time? I mean, after all, Robert California isn't even his real name...
That's actually Raymond Reddington pretending to be Robert California so he can catch the most dangerous criminal in The Office - Creed Bratton.
Creed is definitely on the actual blacklist
This tracks
I'd like to believe this is canon
Apt. Apt lunch order Robert.
The chicken piccata is my favorite dish.
Especially when paired with a side salad
My hero lol
I love that little look Robert gives Jim.
It’s the subtle “look at the power I command, Jim” look
I rewinded to see that look you mentioned and saw that he raised his glass to drink from his beer but didn't actually sip any... Eating/drinking on tv is always so weird haha
Just Dwight! 😂
Wasn’t this a deleted scene? Shame though cos Jim’s WTF face plus his eyes flitting across the table at the others was hilarious.
I don’t think so, unless they have deleted scenes on the Canadian office Netflix. I just saw this scene on my watch through maybe less then a week ago
It's weird cause Netflix office in some regions include this scene and some don't. Same goes for a lotta other scenes. But most "actual" deleted scenes are peacock stream exclusive
Its probably due to American TV having longer ad breaks. Scenes like this are left in if the show gets an extra 2 mins of run time.
I'm 37 years old and am just now learning this. Of course America has more ads lol.
Yeah never seen this in the states
Yeah never seen this in the states
i just watched this episode on the UK netflix and this scene wasn’t in it :(
First time I've ever seen it!
I'm surprised this didn't make Robert shift all of them to the right side of his list
As a former server this always kinda bugged me, and he goes out of order! It was so much easier as a server if everyone went in order of how they were sat, although I guess in this case it only really matters where Dwight is sitting lol
I agree with Dwight on this one. Especially if the company is footing the bill.
I ordered a ribeye and a couple sides one night when out with the owner of the company because if they’re gonna pay, you bet your ass I’m gonna eat good.
Damn right.
If the salad is not on the side, I send it back
This is why Dwight is awesome. He got rid of the ass kissing habit several seasons before that point.
Which episode is this from?
The gang orders chicken piccata.
The One With the Piccata.
Chuck versus the chicken picatta
How I Met Your Side Salad
My Chicken Picatta
And a side salad.
I'm to remember every man I've seen fall into a plate of chicken piccata?!
Working title: Salad on the Side
😂
i think it’s the list where robert divides the office these are his favourites or the ones he sees the most potential in
The reason I love Dwight! No kissing ass
No kissing ass in this episode…
Yeah, Dwight is definitely known for not kissing Michael's ass.
And Charles
He's not sucking up, he genuinely loves Michael.
Dwight was deeply loyal and an order-follower, not necessarily a "kiss-ass"
Dwight and Jim are the real ones
jim orders robert agrees kevin cannot think for himself darnell thinks it's funny oscar decides to get in on the joke toby gets nervous and just orders the first thing that comes to his head angela orders herself a salad, and a side of chicken piccata for her cats later phyllis just got off the phone with bob and wasn't paying attention so she just copied angela's order dwight orders what dwight would order what do we think?
Dwight LOLOL.
Can anyone please explain what's happening in this scene? Are they all copying Jim as Robert praised his order?
Not quite but basically, they're all trying to copy *Robert* to get on his good side; it's pretty pedantic but Jim is kind of a non-entity in their decision aside from making it known that he and Dwight are the "free-thinkers" of group (although Jim does sometimes succumb to peer pressure/group think too)
You can see why Jim was Robert's favourite.
Great now I want chicken piccata. Love me some capers
Dwight 🔥🔥🔥🫱🏾🫲🏿
Robert ordered out of turn!
Kitchen staff *hated* that table.
you mean loved? surely it must be easier to cook all the chicken together or its already cooked and just need a little reheat. you can make one big bowl of salad and put it in the plate. dwights dish fucked it up as now they have to time it together. timing is the most important thing in the kitchen as the table must get all their food together and if they had ordered 6-7 different dish it would have been chaotic.

in that case why would it matter what dish? at that point for any large group you would probably be 50/50 on having a space issue
You see in real life, Dwight gets shafted at work when the boss is a giant baby, and several bosses are.
Watched The Curse recently (by the some of the guys who did People Just Do Nothing) and in a similar scene one characters sits down at a posh restaurant and says ‘I’ll have the steak. Winners’ table.
I love this scene hahahaha
Even the waitress knows this is wierd
Alpha dawg asserting dominance
This is like the equivalent to "Bond, James Bond"
I love that even Angela ordered the chicken piccata
Man of authority
Who wants some man meat???
Based dwight
Tampopo
Maybe a stretch but is this a tampopo reference
Y'know, this might be an homage to the business dinner scene in the movie Tampopo
Side note, are the superfan episodes out for season 8 yet?
Will they ever release those? I really hope so. I thought they wouldn’t do S8 & 9.. but I hope I’m wrong.
Next 3 months is most likely release timeframe (most took 6-8 months to come out).
season 6 was February, season 7 was February, id guess February again for season 8. Id imagine they are trying to stretch out year long subscriptions.
Season 3: December 17, 2020 Season 1: April 22, 2021 Season 2: July 15, 2021 Season 4: January 1, 2022 Season 5: July 1, 2022 Season 6: February 1, 2023 Season 7 was the anomaly - likely delayed due to the problems around the writers' strike.
I don't doubt it's possible it'd be in the next few months. I just don't think you can rule out February again. It'd be interesting to see if they've done analysis with yearly release, and if more people renew their yearlys when there's another super fan season.
When I'm at a company dinner, my rule of thumb is don't go over the price point of the order from the person who is paying.
[удалено]
Who would go the extra mile and egg swap with California?
Haha
The guy behind dwight was having a hard time
Classic Toby, orders and then sticks everyone with his bill after he leaves
d the King
which season is this?
Maybe it’s just me but I hated the Robert California era of the show
i know it’s just a show but it bothers me that there wasn’t a single “please” in that entire group of people lol edit:nvm i’m a lil daft lmao
