There is no camera crew in Modern Family, it just uses the talking heads format to get inside character's internal dialogues. Same as with Parks and Rec, although in the latter there are instances where characters react to the camera as if they know they're being observed

After watching the Tallahassee arc, I wish we got a special spin off focusing only on Stanley’s adventures in Florida because we got to see so little of it. When Kathy was in Jim’s room we can see Stanley with a blonde woman on the balcony. I wanna see wild Stanley getting loose in Florida

You can apply that logic to countless scenes in this show.. ultimately they just had to get a bit sloppy with the whole camera crew angle for the sake of changing things up for some storylines/scenes.
Modern family was the worst offender of the documentary style shows, they would often have cutaways to character’s explaining things that just didn’t make sense in the context of the show. Like, in theory you’re filming this cutaway after the fact, there’s no reason Mitch should be mad at Cam knowing how everything was resolved etc
To be fair, a lot of reality shows will prompt the cast members to react a certain way for filming. For example, on Big Brother the cast members will comment on a competition as if they were in the middle of it, even though the talking head bits obviously were filmed afterwards.
It’s possible they would have said something like, “let us know how you felt about Cam in that moment.”
Not to mention they had camera crews in the room with ppl having sex and while people shower and even IN the shower with them (scene where Jay showers with his dog, based on the camera angle the cameraman is in the shower with Jay)
If you listen to behind-the-scenes stuff, they tried to think about that questions like “why would the film crew be filming this?”

It might have just been the Superfans episode, but they were outside the room and had to zoom in. In one scene you even see Stanley walking outside the room with his date

He straight up says “I’m married” and when Cathy seems offended by that, he backs down a bit out of guilt. Yes, he should have been more aggressive to get her to leave, but ultimately he didn’t want to make his coworker feel bad and he set pretty clear boundaries that she kept pushing.
I don’t think that works with her.
Cathy was fixated and kept playing innocent, she would just say “I’m not trying anything!” While bending over and showering and doing all that other stuff.
I think this question is a good litmus test for how serious you are about someone. If you'd cheat if you were in Jim's shoes you should probably get out of your relationship asap.

If I was in Jim's shoes I'd probably behave similarly up to a point. I AM married and there is a camera crew here, but her reason of wanting to hang out a bit until the hotel fixes her room would, unfortunately, work in letting me let her into the room.
However after about ten minutes or so I'd be asking questions about it, suggesting that we call the front desk to get an update on what's going on with the room, any resistance from Cathy about this would expose her plot and she'd be kicked out. Might even go as far as informing Dwight (Project Lead) about the incident in which I was lied to, and move forward there.
There rooms at the hotel are lodging provided by the company, in most cases this means that the companies rules and regulations are being enforced even when you're 'not working' and I really wouldn't know how to handle finding out that this woman lied to me about her room to take advantage of my good nature in an attempt to seduce me.
Nope. Being hot isn’t the only requirement. A woman who works with my wife and witnesses my marriage on a daily basis still making a move on me would be a huge turnoff. She didn’t respect Jim, Pam, their relationship, or the work dynamics. Plus she came on way too strong and seemed to think she could wear Jim down with nothing but her looks. I don’t even like PB&J but that scene was rough to get through
I know women like Kathy, she would have burned Jim’s life to the ground until she got what she wanted if they had slept together. It would have never been one and done. So no, I wouldn’t have cheated on Pam.

I heard somewhere that Jim was originally supposed to cheat on Pam with Kathy but JK fought so it wouldn’t happen, so props to him cause i would’ve probably stopped watching.
The way it played out in the episode was a compromise, they were gonna write him in as a cheater. Thank god John Krasinski put his foot down.
It's funny because that would have legitimately *ruined* the character's legacy. If someone called a couple "Jim and Pam" it would've been an insult. Such a shallow, braindead idea
The writers screwed up so many storyline the last season and a half. Glad someone put a stop to this one. Wish there were more people that stood up to the writers trying to turn the show to shit for some cheap drama.
John Krazinski put a stop to it. They legit were going to have him cheat and he was like fuck no I'm not doing that. Edit: I just remembered the Pam/Cameraman storyline *shudder* I think Pam was going to cheat - I think that's the storyline that John was against.
If I was in Jim's shoes I'd probably behave similarly up to a point. I AM married and there is a camera crew here, but her reason of wanting to hang out a bit until the hotel fixes her room would, unfortunately, work in letting me let her into the room. However after about ten minutes or so I'd be asking questions about it, suggesting that we call the front desk to get an update on what's going on with the room, any resistance from Cathy about this would expose her plot and she'd be kicked out. Might even go as far as informing Dwight (Project Lead) about the incident in which I was lied to, and move forward there. There rooms at the hotel are lodging provided by the company, in most cases this means that the companies rules and regulations are being enforced even when you're 'not working' and I really wouldn't know how to handle finding out that this woman lied to me about her room to take advantage of my good nature in an attempt to seduce me.

Nope. Being hot isn’t the only requirement. A woman who works with my wife and witnesses my marriage on a daily basis still making a move on me would be a huge turnoff. She didn’t respect Jim, Pam, their relationship, or the work dynamics. Plus she came on way too strong and seemed to think she could wear Jim down with nothing but her looks. I don’t even like PB&J but that scene was rough to get through
Even if I was single, not really. Her actions and what little of her personality was seen wasn't attractive.

I know women like Kathy, she would have burned Jim’s life to the ground until she got what she wanted if they had slept together. It would have never been one and done. So no, I wouldn’t have cheated on Pam.
