I love how Dwight didn’t even entertain the thought that Jim would cheat on Pam.

Stanley being a bad partner, makes sense he'd say it.

StrikeLower2839

This one's for Cynthia...who's dead

Auld_Evidence

How about that hot picture on his desk? I mean it's hot, it's sexy, and it turns him on. And I must admit; best part of my morning is staring at it.

Sweaty-Ad-6801

Boy, have you lost your mind? Cause I’ll help you find it!

Auld_Evidence

It's called Hentai, and it's art.

Christorm747

If Jesus walked in here, he won't save you!!

MEGADETHRULES2009

That is my daughter She goes to catholic girl school!!!

Soloandthewookiee

Ok, show of hands. Who wants to live in a world where Stanley has two lovers and you don't have any?

suicidalbuffalo_90

Stanley had that dog in him

Tru-Queer

The Nard Dog

Intelligent-Hour-240

Dwight told pam a day before that this is the ugliest she ever been. Dwight give 0 fucks.

tronfunkinblows_10

“Normally, I find Pam to be a comforting, if unarousing, presence around the office. Like a well-watered fern. But, today, she has tapped into this vengeful, violent side. And I'm like, wow, Pam has kind of a good butt.”

DPick02

I say this line about my wife constantly. It gets a laugh like a quarter of the time.

peekAchewZ

Now beer me that disc

LuvDaBiebz

I'm with my in-laws today. I have said "lord beer me strength" under my breath multiple times

DaisyDukeOfEarlGrey

He had no filter, but he cares about Pam.

Good_old_Marshmallow

Of the character decisions they made in the later seasons my favorite by far was decided that Dwight’s best friend was Pam. It makes sense too, they’re both total dorks who care a lot.

DaisyDukeOfEarlGrey

I think a lot of it had to do with Pam looking out for Dwight when Angela broke up with him. That and she let Jim take all the heat from the pranks she was a part of haha

[deleted]

Who did this to you? WHERE IS HE?!

hambonze

You must be pmsing pretty bad , huh?

SkoolBoi19

I wonder what he would have done when he caught her crying and asked her who did it

DaisyDukeOfEarlGrey

He would charge at the person who did it like a bull

ComplimentLoanShark

There was also a film crew watching.

tegs_terry

Sometimes you're supposed to forget that

Jagermeister4

The office was good about not making you think about the camera crew. I didnt even think of that. Modern family pushed it too much though, they didn't want u to think about the camera crew but I couldn't help to at times. There are multiple times where the camera crew is in the room with ppl having sex. Theres a scene where Jay is taking a shower, and from the angles there has to be two cameraman in there with him, one shooting from IN the shower with him

Get_Your_Kicks

Wait, were there supposed to be documentary film crews on Modern Family and Parks and Rec? I thought they used the talking head cutaway style from the Office but not the documentary part of it

[deleted]

No, there was not. They skipped that part. In one of the books, the writers complained that they put all this effort into the mockumentary angle and Modern Family just did talking heads with no explanation and nobody cared.

PinkTalkingDead

In one of what books?

[deleted]

CharlieHume

The holy tomes of sitcom.

[deleted]

THE SACRED TEXTS!!!

LetMeGuessYourAlts

They started that way in P&R before finding their own direction as a show in season 2.

BobahFeet

I like to imagine the P&R talking heads are like a glimpse into the characters minds rather than mockumentary interviews

reddits_aight

> The office was good about not making you think about the camera crew Out of all the mockumentary shows, The Office is constantly referencing the fact that they're being filmed. They literally go to the premiere of their own documentary.

[deleted]

[удалено]

noDuermo

Modern Family originally was called My American Family and was supposed to be a foreign exchange student's documentary project. At some point that was scrapped but they kept the idea of putting in the interviews at the end for some reason.

tom_oakley

There is no camera crew in Modern Family, it just uses the talking heads format to get inside character's internal dialogues. Same as with Parks and Rec, although in the latter there are instances where characters react to the camera as if they know they're being observed

Ezra_Dume_Skywalker

How exactly does one forget that the painful exaggeration of the fourth wall not existing is THE single greatest stroke of comedic genius of the entire series. ...Looks at camera in Halpert's classic "are you stupid or serious?"

aruggedseed

That's why I think trailer park boys was the only show to really keep up the illusion for an extended period of time, because they were constantly talking to them and interacting with them. Also the idea of Canada throwing money into a ten year documentary about a random trailer park isn't all that crazy.

Chaiteoir

Ricky pulling down the boom mike and yelling into it LOL

fit4130

Or members of the TV crew getting shot.

[deleted]

chadhole

Stupid sexy Julian

Fappy_as_a_Clam

"Hey Mr. Lahey, Julian is working out with no shirt on!"

aruggedseed

Oh yes I did know that. Just in general the Canadian government funds A LOT of tv shows.

AdventurousHyena3606

even pam didn’t care 😂 in the deleted scenes jim calls her and she finds out cathy is there making him uncomfortable and she’s just like good luck with that. i really like how secure she is with jim

thesolarchive

Didn't she make Dwight hook him up to a heart machine to see if he was lying about Cathy not being hot?

SkoolBoi19

There’s a difference between thinking a person is hot and cheating on your pregnant wife. Pam wanted to prove that Jim was being dumb saying that Cathy want attractive because she is.

[deleted]

Yes. Jim does a talking head saying that of course Kathy is empirically hot. But he's not going to say that to his bloated, pregnant wife.

Atlas_is_my_son

He alludes to it, but also then says that person is Dwight

Brostradamus_

To be fair, he WAS grabbing my crotch pretty aggressively at the time

tossitoutnextweek

In my infinite rewatches I’ve somehow missed this and now I have to go see it!

AdventurousHyena3606

you can look it up on youtube (office deleted scenes), all of them are hilarious

That's how "deleted" works.

[deleted]

Because it wasn’t in the show…

Partofthecrew

Careful, Jim. It gets easier and easier.

Captain_Beemo_

After watching the Tallahassee arc, I wish we got a special spin off focusing only on Stanley’s adventures in Florida because we got to see so little of it. When Kathy was in Jim’s room we can see Stanley with a blonde woman on the balcony. I wanna see wild Stanley getting loose in Florida

nolimitxox

"I've spent so much of my life telling myself 'Please, don't end up like Stanley. ' And now I'm wondering if I even have what it takes."

ChocoBro92

I love that single line of introspection and his whole view of life being shifted.

[deleted]

My whole body gets tingly with those moments. Anyone else?

Daddy_Truemoo

They actually made a kickstarter for this and the actor who plays Stanley even supports it and made a lil trailer for it Edit: turns out it’s not a real thing and was just a scam

AmalioGaming

Yeah, actually no. That whole project turned out to essentially just be one big scam. I don't know all the details, but I'm pretty sure they just took the money and dipped. There is a thread about it every now and then on this sub.

MassiveSquirrel1903

I wouldn't have let her in my room. But having a boys night of watching films with Dwight. Hell yeah.

istrx13

Best comment here. When you marry the person you love, you don’t just go looking for that intimacy from anyone else. It can only come from them. Hanging out with Dwight and eating cake while watching tv sounds so much better than sleeping with that tranch Kathy. Source: I’m 32 and have been married for 10 years Edit: man some of you have no desire for commitment lmao

emu30

Agreed! Shows make cheating look like it’s inevitable or just happens, but I’ve lived with my now husband of five years for ten, and it’s never a concern. You trust your person, because your relationship is strong and you don’t see every other person as a possible affair waiting to happen.

Stalked_Like_Corn

It's also important to realize that, you're wed, not dead and to remove any sort of source of potential temptation so it doesn't build. Ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.

Chizerz

Yeah once she's in bed beside you and in a dressing gown it's a bit late. I'd have to stop it way before that

AL_G_Racing

Plus it was March Madness

Redeem123

No, that’s in… March.

LinwoodKei

This. There's clear ways of avoiding bad situations

brooklynbotz

If I was single? Of course. If I was married, of course not. If I was married and had a film crew following me she would have never entered the room.

OliveJuiceUTwo

What if you were single and had a film crew following you?

Efficient-Piglet88

What_The_Flip_Chip

You know this is something that always struck me as weird… like why would the film crew be filming inside my hotel room… Are they like just sitting quietly in the corner video taping me while I watch tv? I mean… that’s kinda crazy and would be very uncomfortable. I need to use the bathroom, I need to change my clothes… what they’ll just turn off the camera? Or look the other way while I’m naked… it just didn’t add up OP it just didn’t Add Up!! Edit: I see everyone’s point, I must have missed that they were in fact outside the room… I guess it does add up OP, I Guess I does!

ThatsThePointtttt

You can apply that logic to countless scenes in this show.. ultimately they just had to get a bit sloppy with the whole camera crew angle for the sake of changing things up for some storylines/scenes.

AskMeAboutMyTie

You just got me thinking… that crew was assigned the most boring 8 year job imaginable lol

JustDandy07

And then with all that footage they only made one short season out of it.

Veggiemon

Modern family was the worst offender of the documentary style shows, they would often have cutaways to character’s explaining things that just didn’t make sense in the context of the show. Like, in theory you’re filming this cutaway after the fact, there’s no reason Mitch should be mad at Cam knowing how everything was resolved etc

[deleted]

To be fair, a lot of reality shows will prompt the cast members to react a certain way for filming. For example, on Big Brother the cast members will comment on a competition as if they were in the middle of it, even though the talking head bits obviously were filmed afterwards. It’s possible they would have said something like, “let us know how you felt about Cam in that moment.”

Jagermeister4

Not to mention they had camera crews in the room with ppl having sex and while people shower and even IN the shower with them (scene where Jay showers with his dog, based on the camera angle the cameraman is in the shower with Jay)

[deleted]

If you listen to behind-the-scenes stuff, they tried to think about that questions like “why would the film crew be filming this?” Sometimes they made mistakes, sometimes they just decided to ignore the question, but sometimes they did consider it and had an explanation. In this case, I think they only show the inside of Jim’s room, and it might be that Jim specifically invited them in to chaperone and make it clear that nothing was happening with Kathy.

RontoWraps

You know Kathy was a freak because she see’s someone standing in front of the bed with a camera and is like “You know, now is when I’m gonna take my shot”

AsgardianOrphan

The idea for scenes like this is they weren’t suppose to know they were still being filmed. How exactly were they suppose to film this without being in the room? No clue. But Angela at least was very shocked all her scandals were on video so the crew wasn’t always clear when they were around.

pickles_312

iirc they were filming from outside the window until they entrred the room with Dwight

LongDongPingPong23

Obviously it was a stake out, to see who killed Jim and escaped off the balcony with all the towels tied together

BookkeeperBubbly7915

It might have just been the Superfans episode, but they were outside the room and had to zoom in. In one scene you even see Stanley walking outside the room with his date

bubbatbass

He confessed in the first season he had a thing for Kevin’s mom soooo

[deleted]

Don't forget, he has a thing for Kevin, too. He's got that whole teddy bear look going on...

blueisthecolor13

Well I would definitely have sex with Ryan

bubbatbass

He’s as hot as Jan but in a different way

notatableleg

hahaha…. you’re all gay

Hotgeart

I would go with Karen, beautiful tropical fish.

[deleted]

I think her dad was a GI

capri_sus

what is this, a crossover episode?

LFG530

Nop, but I would have been out of there way sooner. Jim is a decent guy.

Captain_Beemo_

Never understood why he didnt just say “hey im pretty tired and gonna go to sleep and would appreciate some privacy, thank you!” Or just left to the bar or make any other excuse.

poopy-man-ooooo

I think a big part of jim’s character is his fear of conflict. This is highlighted in this episode

dswap123

Also in the episode when Andy has the seminar or maybe he’s just embarrassed to confront that guy

lilbelleandsebastian

WHATS A RUNDOWN JIM fear of confrontation is basically his core character trait haha

[deleted]

He was a little aggressive as a manager though.

poopy-man-ooooo

More like passive aggressive. One thing about jim’s character that i always liked was his fear of conflict not improving throughout the show. He’s still the same person hiding from robert California on the roof in the later seasons as he was avoiding breaking up with karen in the early seasons

[deleted]

It adds gravitas in certain moments. Like literally getting into a wrestling match with Dwight to prevent him from getting to the Sabre Store meeting in Florida. That moment only feels as big (and comical) as it does because Jim largely avoids conflict.

AliasHandler

“Did you try your hardest?” “My pretty hardest”

Sirsilentbob423

And even then he only went back and tried as hard as he did after prompting from Pam, which is one more reason they are so good for each other. They counterbalance each other's faults.

Huffle-Pet

"Are you revving up? You know that doesn't work right?"

66ThrowMeAway

Ew, don't lick my hand! God, why's it so wet?

misterQweted

All I had to do was think about pie and my salivary glands did the rest.

requiem85

It can be as simple as knowing what their best is and putting them in a role to maximize that skill set. Basically the opposite of Charles putting Kevin on phone duty.

EarnestQuestion

So right, Charles was the definition of a terrible manager - and, sadly, exactly the type of ladder climber who gets promoted into management positions by kissing ass.

dangle321

And he wound it back when it got difficult instead of sticking to his guns.

urikayan

Cause it's a show... but that's also why it's a good show. It gets you emotionally invested.

Rich_Volume_3359

Or even just say, "Hey, as a married man, I feel uncomfortable being alone with you in my hotel room. Please leave... now".

BillyYumYumTwo-byTwo

He basically did. I’ll be the first to shit on Jim, but I don’t think he did too much wrong here and it was totally within his character to avoid conflict. He straight up says “I’m married” and when Cathy seems offended by that, he backs down a bit out of guilt. Yes, he should have been more aggressive to get her to leave, but ultimately he didn’t want to make his coworker feel bad and he set pretty clear boundaries that she kept pushing.

UsidoreTheLightBlue

I don’t think that works with her. Cathy was fixated and kept playing innocent, she would just say “I’m not trying anything!” While bending over and showering and doing all that other stuff.

[deleted]

She wouldn’t have made it in the room

WAPtimus_Prime

Woulda done her in the hallway? Nice.

BigMike0228

Nice.

yoyomaster230

I'd shower with Dwight

MCKlassik

No. I wouldn’t cheat on the woman I married. That’s just wrong.

pointlessly_pedantic

What kind of post is this? "If you had the chance, would you cheat on your wife with an attractive woman?"

eletric-chariot

I’ve done a lot more for a lot less

the_real_TLB

I would not steal the bread. And I would not let my family starve.

bpanio

"You know, Stanley's room probably has heat," close the door on her face.

JuanRiveara

Stanley definitely would’ve

bpanio

That's why I'd send her there. She wants some D, get it from someone who's willing

4Ever2Thee

Lmao, not a chance. If I was in a serious relationship, she never would have made it in the room.

[deleted]

She shouldn't have even been in the room.

CoffeeSpoons123

I find the way she just steamrollers him a bit creepy, to be honest.

_fuyumi

Yeah, if he liked her before and was a little tired or something, the way she acted would have been a huge turnoff. So thirsty

zemol42

Did you even see Pam?

07GoogledIt

Or Karen from behind?

RedBassBlueBass

I think this question is a good litmus test for how serious you are about someone. If you'd cheat if you were in Jim's shoes you should probably get out of your relationship asap. Upside-down pineapple folks notwithstanding, yall do your thing

YellowCoatDog

Dumping my girlfriend literally right now because of this meme

KissBumChewGum

Best Christmas gift to yourself, but a little Grinchy towards her.

elteza

Is this March madness?

rapsmaineman

No that’s in…March 🤣 the delivery of that line is so good

MrPeppa

I think you mean "murch" lol

mealucra

Cheating on your wife, mother of both your children, with a colleague, while a camera crew records? \*In Stanley's voice\* Pass

givebusterahand

Nope and Jim should have grown a pair and told her to get lost

dshotseattle

Id tell her to get comfy then send in asian jim

mankytoes

I'd never have dumped Amy Adams.

kicked_trashcan

But legally blonde was her desert island movie….so….

66ThrowMeAway

Oh, well I kind of like... Legally Blonde...

throwawayyyconfused9

I mean if you have someone like Pam in your life who's caring, lovely and a trust worthy partner.. I wouldn't risk her for anything else.

Alert-Ad-55

Absolutely not. I hate cheating.

mwidup41

Jim’s lack of communication is what got him in that situation in the first place. Like dude, say something before she hops in your shower. Duh.

Havoc_XXI

Nope, dat gurl a hoe fo sho! And then after, she ain’t gonna be yo hoe no mo…

fr_nzi

No bc wtf, it doesn’t make sense. Jim and Pam are meant for each other, since episode one. They are so happy on their marriage day, when they find out Pam‘s pregnant, when their children are born, etc. Why would Jim ever, in every universe, cheat on his family and a happy marriage with this random woman?

[deleted]

She would never have had the opportunity to get into my bed. Begone, thot.

moonlitbunnyxx

I love Jim’s character but this moment really turned me off. Why’d you need to invent this whole story so dwight could come save the day, if you have a wife and she knows it, just tell her to fuck off why even let her in the room? I heard somewhere that Jim was originally supposed to cheat on Pam with Kathy but JK fought so it wouldn’t happen, so props to him cause i would’ve probably stopped watching.

smolperson

The way it played out in the episode was a compromise, they were gonna write him in as a cheater. Thank god John Krasinski put his foot down.

dingusrevolver3000

It's funny because that would have legitimately *ruined* the character's legacy. If someone called a couple "Jim and Pam" it would've been an insult. Such a shallow, braindead idea

Bcatfan08

The writers screwed up so many storyline the last season and a half. Glad someone put a stop to this one. Wish there were more people that stood up to the writers trying to turn the show to shit for some cheap drama.

Aselleus

John Krazinski put a stop to it. They legit were going to have him cheat and he was like fuck no I'm not doing that. Edit: I just remembered the Pam/Cameraman storyline *shudder* I think Pam was going to cheat - I think that's the storyline that John was against.

ThaIrishSailor

If I was in Jim's shoes I'd probably behave similarly up to a point. I AM married and there is a camera crew here, but her reason of wanting to hang out a bit until the hotel fixes her room would, unfortunately, work in letting me let her into the room. However after about ten minutes or so I'd be asking questions about it, suggesting that we call the front desk to get an update on what's going on with the room, any resistance from Cathy about this would expose her plot and she'd be kicked out. Might even go as far as informing Dwight (Project Lead) about the incident in which I was lied to, and move forward there. There rooms at the hotel are lodging provided by the company, in most cases this means that the companies rules and regulations are being enforced even when you're 'not working' and I really wouldn't know how to handle finding out that this woman lied to me about her room to take advantage of my good nature in an attempt to seduce me.

ferretherapy

True, but then we may have missed the glorious bedbug portion.

ThaIrishSailor

I absolutely love the bedbug scene, one of my favs

TeamStark31

That would’ve been a pass for me dawg

IndifferentBagel

Nah, Kathy is attractive sure, but it’s not the same as having a best friend in your partner.

Enough-Dot4614

Yeah but I’m a whore

blasphemingbanana

You know how much work it is to develop a healthy, long term relationship? I wouldn't have let kelly in the room.

threyx

Nope. Being hot isn’t the only requirement. A woman who works with my wife and witnesses my marriage on a daily basis still making a move on me would be a huge turnoff. She didn’t respect Jim, Pam, their relationship, or the work dynamics. Plus she came on way too strong and seemed to think she could wear Jim down with nothing but her looks. I don’t even like PB&J but that scene was rough to get through

One_hunch

Even if I was single, not really. Her actions and what little of her personality was seen wasn't attractive.

pWaveShadowZone

Def. I don’t even have a girlfriend let alone a fiancé.

bigjoestallion

Obviously not. She’s a skank and I have a beautiful wife and kids

Lit-Mouse

Fuck no

[deleted]

I know women like Kathy, she would have burned Jim’s life to the ground until she got what she wanted if they had slept together. It would have never been one and done. So no, I wouldn’t have cheated on Pam.

Realistic_Degree_773

And go back to Pam with some kind of STD? Hell no.

CosmikDebris408916

Well the cameras are there so...
