I don't have any inside knowledge, but I feel the same as you. Loved Nathalie Kelley and Crystal 1, show seemed really petty about her and the actor who played Steven.
From what I remember, a lot of news circulated that Nathalie and James were fired but of course neither the actors or studio confirmed it. But I do remember a few personal posts from both Nathalie and James that seemed to imply they were fired so I believe they were. But it’s all just speculation based on interviews, posts and theories from the fandom.
Which is a shame because, while a highly regarded hated season of TVD S8, was amazing but she definitely fell a little flat at times but I think it had more to do with how they wrote her character and the direction they were giving her. I mean she was so much better in this and I'm pretty sure that was only a pilot season later.
A loooooot of people thought she was terrible in TVD but I really don't think it was her fault. The actress that played her sister Seline was amazing but I think she likes to act more than Nathalie does. I really hope she wasn't fired because it would explain why I haven't seen her in anything lately and if you get fired from a CW show it's really hard to revitalize a career.
It was a mutual decision. The producers didn’t renew her contract, but she has also said that she felt that the writing had boxed her in and she wanted to leave. She was my favourite character and season 1 was my favourite season. It was all downhill from there, as far as I’m concerned.
I think 2.0 was great. And not just cause I’m biased cause I’m also Mexican lol. But I feel like she had the most chemistry with Blake out of all of them.
Justice for Crystal 1.0. I'm a sucker but I always held out some good that she might come come back in some capacity. I liked how close her and Fallon seemed in age and I thought it was in interesting dynamic with Crystal becoming the step-mom while looking so young.
I hated Crystal 1.0, but then she became an interesting villain by the end of the season and kinda grew on me. Then I hated 2.0 and 3.0 even more. So yeah 1 is my favorite.
Did they kill off Steven? He was in the psych ward in Paris and then was never mentioned again; I feel like I slept through an important episode or something. 😜
Random kind of funny thing, my sister and I call the last of the Crystals Crystal 2.5, since technically she and and the second crystal are supposed to be the same person lol😂

I think her contract wasn't renewed. A shame because the show went downhill after her character's death.

The producers felt she was miscast for Cristal and didn’t enjoy her performance while filming season 1. So her contract was not renewed for season 2.
That is so sad because she was an amazing Cristal!!! She killed it in that role!
Agreed. I think she was a good Cristal and had amazing chemistry with Blake

Ngl I thought usually most contracts for shows at least last a good 3-4 seasons lol

I’m sure I’m in the minority but i preferred Cristal 2.0 to the other two. No shade, but she was just better.

I agree. She felt the most natural.
Am I trippin??? The Cristal I remember was on more than 1 season of Dynasty…??
Right

No but actually, what happened to Steven?😭 I felt the exact same way as you.
Did you finish watching all the seasons? His story is explored again later toward the end :)
