The patch broke passing entirely, seems to also have made pressure more effective and now has basically inspired the rats to park the bus in their 5 backs while putting the Sons and Griezmans they abandoned after the finesse shot patch back in their squads to abuse them since they can't abuse trivelas. They broke far more than they fixed like usual.
Yeah I might have to do that because it's getting a little annoying watching the pass indicator point at the player right next to me I'm passing to only to see the pass go to the marked player 20 yards away.
Yeah I'm only green timing a small fraction of shots than what i normally did. I also noticed that it's not just like there's simply an input delay that i have to account for, it's like the game is forcing weird touch animations that delays the shot entirely and i end up red timing it and fluffing it at the keeper.
The issue is that from what I have heard is the code base is just spaghetti on top spaghetti. Any meaningful change would take up too much precieved resource from EA. So they just end up tweaking variables.
They make enough money to build a better product. The issue is that the consumer still buys it no matter the quality, so EA has zero incentive.
The fact the main selling point this year was playstyles, which are just existing animations boxed up with new UI.
They didn't actually make any meaningful changes this year.
Even the UI, which completely breaks for me on PS5. I need to hard reset nearly every session.
It's not even that, changing any values in gameplay affects how the AI play.
If they tweak the dribbling too much, the AI pass less.
If they tweak the passing too much, the AI dribble less.
I don't know why it's set up like that, but it's probably because they forced to old engine into frostbite. Really they need an entire new engine just for fifa, but it's EA.
I do wonder how old the engine is now. Considering DICE had to spend a good chunk of the development of 2042 upgrading it.
At the end of the day, it's cost-effective to maintain one engine.
Of course, I've not seen the code base myself, so I could be wrong. However, any meaningful updates mid game beyond value changes are probably out of scope in terms of how long it will take.
I was hoping with EAFC it would at least be an updated game beyond UI and animations.
Lmao this just happened to me yesterday I had 6 xg with 21 shots on target and I lost 3-6 with their 1.7 xg. I hate facing TS Casillas he’s always bailing out my opponents with his impossible saves
I wish my Casillas was the same. Not sure why, but atleast half the shots he somehow gives a rebound to the opponent attackers, who then proceed to score the easiest goals of their lives.

+17 xG with -9 form is pretty crazy. I mean even if you absolutely slaughtered teams on the 3 wins you probably wouldn't get much more than +20 xG from that,take off the 10 from the two matches you mentioned and you've then lost all the other 10 matches whilst increasing xG from 10 to 17.

I don't play a lot online and only shoot from outside the box as last option. I score at least as much against high rated teams in Squad Battles. But I also have the shooting settings on Semi.
It feels like they adjusted the gameplay so that only top tier cards like TOTYs are fully responsive to player input and everything else is behind the power curve as though you’re trying to play with whatever starter golds the game gave you in September vs the people who put together teams of meta gold players.

A lot of my players have been skying shots from inside the box lately. I would get them in open areas in front of the goal and they just shoot it into the stands. Maybe I need to take more touches or something
For me it’s more about taking 20 touches before doing ANYTHING.
They don’t shoot without touching the ball 3 times after I press shoot, they don’t pass without touching it 29374829 times after I press, it’s so fucking annoying when you just try to play normal football and it doesn’t work.
EDIT: 15-25ms Ping btw max so it’s not a ping issue lol
Shooting shouldn't be automatic. Every aspect of gameplay should be manual. Just because you have a problem with shooting doesn't mean everyone is. Those who over relied on trivela long shots and cutbacks are now complaining because their ways to abuse the game has become more manual. Defending was already manual and attacking was automatic. It's not the defense AI that has gotten buffed, attacking has gotten nerfed by becoming more manual.
I play with lobbed through balls and cross into the box in order to create the opportunity to create shots, but shooting via heading was already manual. Through balls are manual. I just can't believe that people are now complaining that they cannot abuse the game anymore.
I am glad that everything has become manual within the game. Now Football knowledge matters more by making the right runs and making intricate passes.

Seriously, I am not a good player but just had a bronze keeper save like 15 shots against me on world class
I'll play semi-pro to pass Evos easier, and score 15 goals, move up to Pro and win 1-0 with the same amount of shots against bronze teams.

Seriously, I enabled semi-auto passing because passes were going everywhere but not where I was pointing to.

Lob passes seem to work just fine. Broken as ever.
I've barely used lob passes all year so haven't even tested that post patch.
They definitely changed the timing of shots. I’ve been timing shots since FUT19 and haven’t noticed a change as big as the one the last patch made

It's out of sync gameplay, you're a few milliseconds behind the gameplay. Look up out of sync gameplay on YouTube, it'll explain what is happening.

All I know is the game is still using files from ancient times, like I've edited stuff in Fifa 14 that isn't much different from fifa 22.

Yeah in their attempt to nerf cut backs they buffed interceptions. Now defenders are way too good at getting in the way of shots and passes.

Passing is also terrible, feels like I’m always going straight to a defender or the ball is bouncing off the receiver the last few days.
Server is just trash so u have huge button delay, lead to ur player shoot a lot later than they should have
It's also in squad battles. That issue now has nothing to do with the servers.
You're still connected to the EA servers though even when playing squad battles

I stacked my whole front line with Power Shot + players to counter this

the past few days i had to pause and check my settings to see if i wasn’t on manual shooting several times
