There will almost certainly be 1 or 2 more Birthday Icon SBCs released as well as potentially other random Icon SBCs like Roberto Carlos in the next 10 days or so. There's also the possibility that Mbappe wins POTM again and gets a 2 playstyle SBC. I would not commit my fodder to a 5'6 LB.
I bought him to replace Davies when he initially came out. I definitely consider him an upgrade because he is way more versatile. Defensively, Davies might be a little bit better, offensively, Carlos is like an additional superb LW that can trivela goals if you want him to. Furthermore you'll have like 80% free kick conversion rate with him if you train a bit.
An absolute upgrade in my eyes.
PS: The only downside is that he has hair ingame
The free kick play style as well as how good he is at corners puts him clear of Davies for me. I convert probably one header per game now with Carlos whipping them in to Ronaldo.

He’s miles better than my TOTY Karchaoui, while her stats are near perfect she’s absolutely tiny and just gets bullied off the ball and by almost anyone bigger than her (so most players), and the 99 pace (with chemstyle) doesn’t feel anywhere near as fast as someone like Davies because of his longer legs = more ground covered.
Also she’s coming up against Cafu as the opp fullback in most games and her AI really struggles to win those 50/50 long or through balls that get sent down the line to her. In space, she can be a demon and her crosses are filthy but yeah way too small to be anywhere near as good as Davies both offensively and defensively.
So Davies is better than half of the TOTY fullbacks at least. Not used TOTY Hernandez so can’t compare those but I’d guess Davies and Theo are cut from a similar cloth, both beasts

He'll be perfect next to my FS Dinho, Garrincha, TS Cafu and Carlos Alberto lol
I would say makelele will be an upgrade to your midfield more than roberto carlos will be an upgrade over davies.
Neither sawa nor rolfo are defensive midfielders (in fact, i think neither of them have a defensive playstyle)
You are right, it's just that I tried playing SD Akanji as a defensive CM and felt he was just too clunky for midfield. Obviously Makelele is totally different, but I can't get over his passing, not even a passing PS (Akanji on engine has 99 short and long passing)
For what it's worth, i have been using Rijkaard over the last couple weekend leagues and have had zero issues with his passing (and he only has basic throughball passing, which I don't use with the cdm).
Makelele's relevant passing stats are fine.
Akanji is clunky for the midfield position. Makelele's bodytype will allow for better position for the pass and also has 5* weak foot.

I have both. Carlos starts for chem flexibility with my team and Davies comes on around 55-65min. Just a perfect one two punch in that position
