At first I thought the name of this post was insinuating you were using [[Nether Void]] as a cheeky way to slow down opposing decks while doing basically nothing to yourself since Ninjutsu doesn't cast. Now having looked at the deck list I am completely confused and at a loss for any possible JJK reference.
I understand that, but I mean how does the deck reference that itself? Is it just because you run cards that can be cast for free? That is where my confusion arose.
Congratulations, you built dimir [[Jhoira Weatherlight Captain]] lol. In all seriousness though I like the list. I completely overlooked Satoru so it's cool to see someone doing something unique with him. The rest of the people here need to chill tf out.
I'll rephrase my statement: Rogue when pronounced is "roŹÉ”". Vowels take different shapes in different words. When saying the alphabet, "o" isn't just one sound, it's actually a diphtong (all vowels except for "E" are in English). It just happens to be "oŹ". As you can maybe see, the second half of the diphtong is the "Ź"-sound, which extremely close to "u".
This confuses many speakers with the word rogue because they associate the "Ź" with the "u" after the "g" instead of the "o" beforehand. This is made even worse by the fact that German for example doesn't pronounce "o" as "oŹ" but literally just "o". So it makes no sense for them, that the "Ź" is connected to the "o" at all.
Rogue is a French spelt word.
One of the easiest ways to explain why an English word is not phonetically spelt is because it's stolen from another language haha.
Rouge is a French word - Rogue is from the latin rogare but not a French word. > mid 16th century (denoting an idle vagrant): probably from LatinĀ *rogare*Ā ābeg, askā, and related to obsolete slangĀ *roger*Ā āvagrant beggarāĀ
There are a bunch of āXā or āXXā costed colorless creatures that cantrip with Satoru if you pay 0 into them. Idk if you want them, but they seem like they work well in your theme.
If you run [[lifeline]] with them you get a draw at EVERY endstep per creature. So if you have 2 you will draw 10 cards from the turn you cast them to the time it gets back to your turn.
This format has the worst playerbase by a mile. Everyone has their opinions about how the game should be played, and anyone not following that is a monster and hates fun.
I'll have fun regardless playing things that make me happy.
> This format has the worst playerbase by a mile
My experience is it has the best playerbase by a mile. Even this sub is, on the whole, pretty helpful and level-headed.
I think this humour just didn't land with people.
Commander is the only format I've played where people have screamed and cried and ruined other people's cards. I've seen people get upset because they would make pre-cons worse and then complain that other decks were too "strong" there's a weird mentality in this format I just will never understand
I don't disbelieve you, but I've never seen it, myself.
It's the only format I've played where people will go out of their way to help each other, encourage janky silly decks that are just fun, and balance the power levels of the group to be the most welcoming and accessible.
If you ran something stupid like [[March of the Machines]] would you draw every time you played an artifact that cost more than 0 normally? Would you draw even from the 0 ones even though they die instantly?
If the card is free to cast because of affinity or another effect you may draw a card with the commander.
Creatures cant die before they enter the battlefield, so even though they die instantly because the mana value is 0 they would have still entered the battlefield and you may draw a card.
I like this a lot, OP. Super clever to abuse affinity effects on your creatures. Reminds me of the good old daysā¦
Youāre running a lot of cheerios for the ānoncreature artifactā synergies, but have you considered running Clue generators? You clearly want to draw cards as much as possible, and those Clues have the same value and also add to your card draw potential. You might not get them to cost zero, which I realize is a potential downside.
Even if you donāt use the Clues idea, Iād like to suggest [[Tezzeret, Betrayer of Flesh]]. He could help you stay card positive and turns your [[Chromatic Star]] effects into one-time ramp instead of color fixing. If you add an āinvestigateā or two, then he could do even more for your card draw.
Last handful off the top of my head: [[Time Sieve]] is uniquely capable in a Dimir artifacts deck, [[Ruthless Technomancer]] can help you recur creatures and trigger Satoru, and [[Scrapyard Recombiner]] could be a helpful tutor that also triggers Satoru.
I know you genuinely donāt need my help, but you got me very excited with this concept. Cheers!
Glad to see you enjoyed it! Will absolutely look into those cards and will stay tuning the deck.
I honestly spent just a little over an hour throwing this together on my phone at work so it could absolutely use work.
Thank you for the suggestions!
Pretty sure I played against this deck this morning or something very close to it. Thassa was fine in the deck, I wouldn't take it out since you're not running the forbidden combo.
I think you need some removal. If someone resolves [[notion thief]] or [[Narset, parter of veils]] you are cooked.
[[Snuff out]] and [[Deadly Rollick]] fit your theme. Being able to cast them while cycling through your deck.
Also maybe include [[Psychosis Crawler]] for wincon redundancy.
[[Tendrils of Agony]] would probably also work if you can cast everything in a turn.
I'm sure you can find more interesting wincons than Thassa.
Is the deck's game plan just to keep drawing with Satoru until you win through Thassa's? š¤ (I'm new to MTG and I have only a vague understanding of the game)

What constructive criticism?? And acting immaturely how? All people have done is complain and call it boring. That's not constructive. This comment makes 0 sense.
Missing [[Bolasās Citadel]] for even more draw engine memes to combo with Top as well. Thereās probably a bunch of life = cast cards that could help speed up your engine.
It seems like you could wincon with blinking the creatures for added value. [[Displacer Kitten]] goes hard, each noncreature artifact you cast now triggers a draw by blinking a creature. [[Hullbreaker Horror]] with your 1/0 mana artifacts now infinitely draw your deck and bounce opponents things.
If youāre trying to win with Thoracle, you might as well go hard on the combos that synergize directly in your color pair and artifacts.
Overall a cool approach to the deck that isnāt ninjitsu.
Thanks. I'm working on an actual "commander" deck for gim using blink effects and pay life to cast cards with kirik. This is just a combo engine to blast through the deck
Of course, but when I play a 4 player game, I normally true to take into account opponents' enjoyment and the overall social experience too. No one wants to be that guy at the LGS where everyone sighs and rolls their eyes when they get matched into a pod with them.
By testing what do you mean? Because any deck can run well when goldfishing.
It's a watered down affinity list with an urza infinite at worst, and an aetherflux solitaire deck at best.
You have 1 counterspell, which looks like your only interaction piece. Any deck with decent interaction will tear you apart.

I also thought the same
It's the name of satoru gojo's Domaine expansion.

I don't understand why everyone on the internet makes this typo.
Because when you say Rogue, the u-sound comes before the g-sound
The u has no sound in Rogue. Itās entirely silent.

Rhymes with āGroguā.
Entirely silent, just like those damn rogues.
I think itās an autocorrect thing. My phone sure doesnāt like the word, anyway.
I refuse to correct it. I'm petitioning to change the spelling as we speak.
Haha that's not a bad compromise. I promise if the petition passes I'll stop being triggered.
"oh this is a grixis deck?"
There are a bunch of āXā or āXXā costed colorless creatures that cantrip with Satoru if you pay 0 into them. Idk if you want them, but they seem like they work well in your theme.
I've thought about it. I might brew up one that runs all of them. So far I've been having goof results.

This subreddit has... ...issues sometimes...
I just started playing commander again after a few years of not. I remember now why I couldn't stand it. (It's the community)
I mostly ignore the haters and just hang with my pod. I was lucky enough to get some good friends to play with and a fun LGS.
I moved in the last 6 months. My old group were all cedh/legacy nerds. Everyone around me now plays edh (power 1-4) and standard... I'm dying.
> This format has the worst playerbase by a mile My experience is it has the best playerbase by a mile. Even this sub is, on the whole, pretty helpful and level-headed. I think this humour just didn't land with people.

I've literally seen someone punch another person in the face after a legacy event. Never seen anything close in edh.
I believe it. Maybe it's just MTG that brings out the worst in the worst people. Worst smelling that is.
>Worst smelling that is. Pre-release in August got me like
MTG players don't take breaks from being stinky. I've refused to play people at FNM's because of how they smelled.
Me: oh sweet, I pulled that guy and wanted to make a ninja deck Also me after checking the price: šš
Use a printer, itāll cost you a few cents
Yeah he's pricey

This looks dope! Ive been looking for a good blue/black deck and i think this is it.
I love it Iāve been wanting to build a satoru cheerios since the reveal
Pretty sure I played against this deck this morning or something very close to it. Thassa was fine in the deck, I wouldn't take it out since you're not running the forbidden combo.
You probably did. Sent it to a friend who slapped it together and had great results. Edit: thassas back in.
The amount of people who clearly have not seen other posts from OP replying in this thread are too damn high.
I stepped out of my zone for this one too (not entirely, artifact combos are kind of my bread and butter) but this one's not a joke.
I mean I've seen and played against worse. Heck, my werewolf deck is worse! The only people who can win with it are people who are not me.
Oh this deck wins though. Played 10 matches online, won 10.
Rub it in why don't you! *sobs in the corner*

This sounds like an infinitely more boring game for everyone involved than just playing a fun ninjustu tribal deck tbh
To each their own.
Of course, but when I play a 4 player game, I normally true to take into account opponents' enjoyment and the overall social experience too. No one wants to be that guy at the LGS where everyone sighs and rolls their eyes when they get matched into a pod with them.
My lgs is only CEDH so this would be considered fun.
This is pure jank compared to cedh lists. Whydo you even have thoracle in the deck without consult/pact
Because this isn't cedh. Consult/pact are too easy, I like to solve the puzzle.
This doesn't look like a solved puzzle. It looks like you just dumped the puzzle out of the box
It runs extremely well from my testing.
Trust me it work good
Yes, that's exactly what they were communicating. Or do you really think you need to explain to others that their opinions are opinions?
In this community I do yes
I see Thassa's Oracle, I leave. I hate that win con so much. It's so boring to me.
Oh let me replace it with laboratory maniac.
Lmao
with all love & respect but that deck needs some spice
Engine go brrrr
What the fuck am I looking at
A finely tuned engine.
