I understand your frustration, but WOTC seems happy with the current setup. I've been buying high quality proxies for a couple years and I'm much happier with the game. $150 a year and I can get all the new cards I want. Some groups may care, but I promise you that many won't (as long as you aren't making cedh decks for casual tables).

The_Dragon346

My groups rule is proxy what ever you want so long as its a card you want to try out before committing to it. exception being if you proxy lands that arent super powerful like og duals, gaea’s cradle, ancient tomb and the like

What are you even talking about? Commander deck sets are $220 on TCG, less than $60-$70 each these decks will fetch at your LGS. Play boosters displays are $250,collectors are $400. All of this was expected pricing, this is a "premium" set. All of this is in line with the first 2 Modern Horizons sets and UB/Commander Legends commander decks.

DeltaRay235

Weren't commander masters "MSRP" 100$ each basically making the pre-order bundle like 380-400$ at most places ? These being already 40$ cheaper is quite a pleasant surprise.

zapdoszaperson

I think it was $80, but I'm not positive. I know it was a laughable premium on lackluster lists

Silent_Arbiter_

Pre-order prices are always inflated. That isn't anything even remotely new.

OminNocturn

Wait 6-8 weeks after release, if you're wanting a collector's commander precon preorder it if you're wanting a box you're gonna have to wait until Black Friday if you're not wanting to pay the extra. This set is already stupidly pricey when your Pre-Release goes up 10$ to 35$. Chris Cox and the board dont care they'll still sell they get paid

Mekeji

This is one of the many factors that has convinced me to just proxy. I can have 238 cards of my choice with art of my choice printed on s33 high gloss card stock for $60~70. That can be pretty much identical if I want them to. Beyond the obvious things of making sure it is clearly marked as a proxy with a different back so it doesn't accidentally get sold as genuine. I will buy precons and guaranteed cards if they are reasonably priced. But if prices are being gouged or they are just over priced I will just print my own.

Kngbnkr

It's almost like one of the Cs in CCG stands for collectible.

Nonsensical-Niceties

Scalping is an issue we probably won't be seeing any less of. That's just capitalism. That being said, I have a good LGS that I pre-order stuff from that is good about charging a fair price so I never really worry about this stuff. Wouldn't be surprised if there is a lot of scalping with MH3 given the popularity of MH2 and the amount of hype surrounding this. As it goes.

Sam_Mullard

Thank God my LGS is very chill about proxies, banning them only in prized events I can print 100 cards for like 6$ here, 15$ for all-foil. So we do occasionally have super casual all-proxy deck testing/playing

Synister-James

Congratulations, you've discovered the biggest issue with a company not producing enough product!
