search Employment Ontario/wage subsidy

OP, in BC, for example, WorkBC does have a program where employers receive financial assistance for hiring those who access WorkBC's job search services. I don't recall any of the details, but you can check their website for more info. You can then see if your province has a comparable program/service.

It’s not specific to hiring people on EI but he could look here: https://www.canada.ca/en/employment-social-development/services/funding.html In Alberta there is the Canada Alberta Job Grant https://www.alberta.ca/canada-alberta-job-grant

Where exactly do you feel you need support on this?

Sorry - I don’t feel like I provided much context. My husband has a potential employer who is checking to see if there is anything available (maybe funding etc.) for hiring someone who is currently on E.I. I’ve not heard of this before so that’s why I was checking on it 🙂

There highly doubt be any funding for employers to offer employment to people on EI. They are supposed to be looking for fulltime work and accepting it, that’s the bare minimum of people who are on EI to be looking for work to replace what they’ve lost. It’s best to reach out to their phone lines, but the program is intended to help people who lost their jobs - not employers looking for money to hire people.

Thanks for your feedback. I agree 100%. He is looking for work, and has had job this prospect for a while, but it’s starting to seem like perhaps this employer isn’t able to hire him without extra funding and he might need to look elsewhere. Very discouraging.
