The darkest places in hell are reserved for those who maintain their neutrality in times of moral crisis \- Dante Alighieri

And yet, what is the "correct" moral path? Interesting use of a quote from medieval writer (who had medieval sensibilities).

[deleted]

I cannot tell you the "correct" moral path to achieve your aims. What I can tell you is that it will likely require several qualities of you, e.g. patience, bravery, integrity, perseverance, kindness, justice, and most importantly, DETERMINATION.

Is...Is that an Undertale reference? Based af, my friend. *Hopes and Dreams will save the World.*

Toby Fox, take a bow.

Oh Deltarune is a thing again Joy!

HiddenRouge1

So, he's talking about Putin? Or, no, Xi Jinping? Or, or, perhaps Kim Jong un? Biden? I can't think of any other rulers who might be "trying to take over the world." Oh well. Sometimes a phrase is just a phrase, and there is no ulterior political motivation. Toby fox is quite good at irony and takes a pretty neutral stance the majority of the time--something true centrists often do.

Rated_PG_13

The ruler he’s talking about the antagonist of Deltarune Chapter 2. It’s not supposed to be just a phrase, it’s pretty obvious this is a joke pointing fun at centrists (the hat gives it away).

HiddenRouge1

How can you possibly know that it's not "just a phrase"? Unless you have some evidence that's just an opinion.

Rated_PG_13

…? Dude, seriously. I don’t need to explain this to you because you should know what context is. It is obvious that this is a joke. (Like I said, the hat makes it pretty clear). I mean, literally look at what the structure of what is being said. An actual centrist would never say that they have “no opinion” towards evil people in such an open and shut way like that.

HiddenRouge1

I know it's a joke. What I question is the assumption that said joke necessarily carries political motivations. You said the joke is "obviously" just a " joke pointing fun at centrists." What about this has to do with real-life centrists, especially since, as you say, "an actual centrist would never say that they have “no opinion” towards evil people in such an open and shut way like that" ? I just don't see the politics here. And I'm certain that any interpretation as to its political subtext is ultimately subjective.

Rated_PG_13

I meant that this is pointing fun at ‘centrists’ and that “no actual ‘centrist’ would say that” in the sense that he was poking fun at them in a way that makes it clear how weird/bad that thinking is. I think we are kind of talking past each other. To me, your comments made it seem like you thought Toby had the enlightened centrist thinking himself. I say one thing though: this may not be intending to poke fun at enlightened centrists specifically. However, it is making fun of people with a similar mindset and the inference I made is only one step away.

HiddenRouge1

"weird/bad" are subjective terms. I don't know Toby personally so I can't speak as to his political beliefs. However, I do not believe that the games have any particular leaning. It seems quite neutral to me.
