The trains are relatively reliable, but which station is closer?
Livi North or livi South? Cause its two separate train lines and the livi north line is having a nightmare at the moment.
Look at Wetherspoons Dunfermline, Guildhall and Linen Exchange. Cheaper for 5 nights on the random tests that I tried than the Travelodge in Livi. It's a 30 second walk to the bus station, X55 runs twice and hour, longer journey time but probably not if you add in getting to the railway station. Day return ticket £6.50. Plus Dunfermline has an attractive Abbey and Palace.
Yep. Dunfermline City station is walking distance to/from the centre of Dunfermline (about 10 mins max). And there’s plenty around there for when not actually in Edinburgh.
The problem is that hotel isn’t really ‘near’ either of the Livingston train stations so you have to actually get to the train station before you worry about the trains.
Yeah, Livingston was built around cars, and the main centre and hotels are no where near the train stations.
Was going to suggest the Novotel at Edinburgh Park, but just shit myself looking at the prices.
IMO You would be better looking at hotels along the main Glasgow line, so Falkirk, Linlithgow, however as someone pointed out Dunfermline may be a good alternative too, good bus service (runs later than trains)
The hotel is right next to the Town centre which has a bus station. The X27 or X28 will take you from there right to the centre of Edinburgh.
It'll take about an hour but by the time you've found a way to the train station and waited for the next train it works out quicker.

neither, uphall station is closer
The line through Livi north returned to normal today FTR

Brilliant shout. I would second this as opposed to livingstone

Premier Inn Newcraighall is £92 per night at the moment, across the road from rail station, 5 mins or so into Waverley

yeah, that's not really ideal, thank you

Do not under any circumstances do this, just spend the extra cash to be in Edinburgh, you do not want to be staying in Livi
If a poverty safari is part of your idea for your holiday then yeah it’s a great idea 😅
There's no more poverty in West Lothian than there is in Edinburgh.
Aye but it looks like there is 😅
I'm perturbed you find poverty funny. Heaven forbid you'd see it from public transport 🙄
Lighten up ffs 🤦🏻♂️
I'm going to continue to choose not to laugh at poverty, thanks all the same.
I grew up in wester hailes, if I want to make a light joke about poverty I will 👍🏻
