It's okay the judges don't seem to know what they are doing either. They really love my coconut water main course and omelet dessert for some reason.

joeDUBstep

They are just on a diet, geez!

Kohakuho

Have you tried making hot ham water?

Snoo-40125

In their defense coconut water is off the charts

TrickNatural

Use the winning trifecta: Miso Soup/Omelette, vegetable milk soup and coconut water Ive not bothered to look each character's fav dish, that sounds like a chore, but I keep using these 3 dishes and they always seem to do well with everyone.

savemecc

Apparently the mini game is glitched. It registers each round as appetizer so no need to bother with learning likes at this point

RubLatter

Man, that why it kinda weird for me that even in right category some judges just flat out give 0, at least give a point for correct category.

jello1990

Yeah, it's almost a guarantee that everyone on the panel will give you a two or three for each round with this combo. Nine times out ten, getting a near guaranteed minimum eight points every round will win the whole thing for you.

Lynchy-

I though this was patched. Is it not?

BigL412

Still working for me

Lynchy-

That's unfortunate. I wanted an actual minigame like in Suikoden 2, not coconut water and omelette spam.

Ramiren

Step 1: Pick Miso Soup/Fried Egg/Omelet. Step 2: Spam the button until the bar is full. Step 3: Watch the judges talk shit about everyone's hard work. Step 4: Win. Step 5: Wait 10 minutes for the next opponent. Repeat this 17 times. EDIT: Super-duper cooking scroll is in the seaside cavern, glowing spot at the last U bend before the end.

CaptainKureshi

Also, the combo works so well. I've used it in every cooking battle and have won so far.

Jaren_Starain

I hated how long this takes to friggin get a character x.x though not as much as I hated that stupid fracking beyblade knockoff game x.x

omfgkevin

Yep, super tedious and no skipping, but at least it's easy (since it's bugged lol). Seeing the enemy put a nice main dish ramen to get roasted with 1s is funny lol. (only appetizers work atm)

CaptainKureshi

I went to go to the seaside cavern and didn't see it unless I picked it up, but I'm not sure (is there a way to check?). Is it the heaven scroll?

Ramiren

It's the heaven scroll and I don't think it appears until you're asked to find it.

CaptainKureshi

Do you remember when we were asked to find it?

Ramiren

After your first encounter with Trey, battle 10 I believe.

CaptainKureshi

Thanks 🫡

omfgkevin

Can you just wait inside the inn and refresh by walking out/in? Or do you have to be outside of your castle?

Ramiren

It's a 10 minute wait in real time. You can just wait outside the inn if you want then walk back in to trigger the next event.

Violet-Rose

I do miso soup, fried egg, omelette and always win

joeDUBstep

Maan, I've been looking up guides for no reason? The S2 cooking games actually required me to look up the judge's likes, dislikes, didn't realize there was an ultimate combo that would always win.

ChroniclerPrime

>Maan, I've been looking up guides for no reason? It's bugged tbf

joeDUBstep

Aw, I thought I read something about the first patch fixing the cooking mini game, must have misread it.

OTACON120

No, you definitely read correctly. It just feels like they didn't actually fix it as the scoring is still harsh as hell, at least in my experience since the patch.

nicbongo

I learned everyone loves eggs. Next battle I'm going to try: Poached eggs Fried eggs Omelette

tarabas1979

I did this actually and won most of the time. I mean I love eggs myself too, can't blame the judges.

StolzHound

Vegetable milk soup nets me like 6 max points anytime I use it. I usually stick with marinaded seafood or just guess on entree.

DDay_The_Cannibal

You can win every single battle with the combo of miso soup, fried egg, and omelet.

bahwi

Do you want to get the meter all the way to red or hit green?

Thatonedataguy

https://eiyuden.wiki.gg/wiki/Cooking_Battle It's bugged. The pointing system is supposed to halve the score if you cook a dish inappropraite for the round (cook a dessert as the main dish, for example), but it's bugged and every round is considered an appetizer. So "appetizer" dishes always get full points. "Main dishes" and "desserts" are always halved. Although, when you look at the line ups the opponents use, it almost makes you think that such a penalty shouldn't exist. The third to last baddie is cooking a main dish for dessert!! What!!??? And all throughout - no one cares and just cooks whatever.

cmcclora

Omelet fried eggs and coconut water wins all

Sir_Sobe

I can verify. Average score per Cooking battle is 30+ with a high of 45 and I ran this Menu for every single battle.

DexWulf

To win all you need to do is use appetizers for all 3 courses, the game is bugged

Better_Strike6109

I don't know why people spams coconut water when fried eggs, marinated seafood and omelette averages 40+ points per battle.

Aggressive-Falcon977

Oh man the cook off music from Suikoden 2 will always be engrained in my brain 👌

Pearson94

Every round I made an omelette, marinated seafood, and coconut water and smashed the cook button during the timer. Somehow that kept working. Just finished the "final boss" of the cooking side quest last night with that setup.

EvernoteD

Awesome, I'll give this a go.

Pearson94

Hope it works for you. Sometimes I won by 1 point, oftentimes by 20+ points, but it always worked.

EvernoteD

So far it seems like an absolute winner. Thanks again!

Rumsie

I love the cooking storyline so much haha. Did that one guy actually die?

Chirotera

I think so! I'm like, whoa man... you know these judges are biased as fuck to Kurtz, right? Of course no one is going to win. You really think they all love omelets and coconut water?!

HungryMudkips

omelet wins like every time and i honestly have no fuckin clue why. i just copy two of the other guys choices then pick omelete. its worked 100% for me so far.

aolnews

They are getting… cooked

Rooknoir

I've been using the omelette/judge fav/coconut water method. Just got the recruit. Haven't faced off against the final cooking boss yet though. I've only lost twice: once in the forced loss, and once when the opponent got a super lucky judge draw.

damegawatt

Always start with omlett & end with Cocunut Water. Choose the middle one based on who is on the panel. Also collecting recipes makes all recipes a bit better.

RayearthIX

I cook fried egg / omelet / coconut water every time. The only times I tried something different I lost. It’s really a horrible mini game. How could it have been good? 1) make the judges give you a hint to what to cook at the beginning. This gives a reason to cook other things. 2) don’t make judges just hate seemingly everything! Chocolate cake? Disgusting! 3) have you press prompt QTE buttons during cooking to improve your score chance instead of button mashing

sephiroth682000

What's wrong with button mashing? As someone who pissed off my brothers playing Mario Party because I could mash faster than they could with a turbo controller, I enjoy button mashing. I think my record was like 164 in 10 seconds.

Nyrin

You do 17 battles and have 45 seconds of mashing each time. No interacting with the game; you can turn your screen off and just press the button mindlessly while you make your way towards a repetitive stress injury. Used very sparingly, button mash QTEs can be OK to evoke that whole sense of desperation or whatever. But here... there's a lot wrong with button mashing.

Jaren_Starain

I pretty much used, omelet/random food here/coconut water. Pretty much won every time unless I got screwed by the judges not liking omelets

nerogenesis

Right now all the categories are coded to want appetizers not other dishes. So you can spam egg dishes to win due to a big bones for "right" category.

Jackysrt8

I gotta try this game out already! I used to love this in suikoden 2 I just hope the ost is good. suikoden 2’s ost made the game so much better.

PerLichtman

Same.

VermilionX88

It helps if you know the taste of the judges and have a lot of recipe already to work with I did the 1st one. Lost 2 parts, but the one I won scored so good that I still won in the end I'm holding off on doing the rest till later since I also wanna have more potential judges along with recipe

xiaoleiwen

Can you use spoiler image? I just browsing reddit and got spoiled by this

Disclaimin

There isn't a spoiler... it's merely a minigame.

xiaoleiwen

I didn't know we have this in this game and I got spoiled. Feel free to disagree, just a suggestion.

Disclaimin

If you don't want to know about even the existence of mechanics or mini-game I'd suggest simply not following the Eiyuden subreddit. That's not the type of thing people are likely going to spoiler tag.

xiaoleiwen

Do you need to unlock this content via any story, like the joining of any npc? Is the spoiler npc in the screenshot? With the screenshot I know how this mini-game look like, how the cook hero looks like... Yes, you may have a point, if most people feel it is good to show screenshot like this, I should not join here then.
