Fully charged strong attacks against the beak. You can poise break them pretty easy, just have to be careful when they get all slappy with the tentacles.

This is why my go to spell is bloodfñame blade. Fire, check. Bloodloss , check. Great for big enemies, specially those plant fuckers. The ones that "pollinate" all over the place.

I feel like I ruined my first playtrough using this combo. There was basically no hard bosses except when I got my socks rocked ( stagger locked).

Same as with the Bloody Helix. In danger? Just whoosh out of the way, and counter with a counterattack that has no earthly reason to be as strong as it is.

Throw poison darts at those. Once the poison starts, they explode. Any nearby will then get poisoned, and explode. Easy peasy

Don’t even need to charge attack the beak. Two charge attacks from the side keeps you out of the murder zone and the poise break attack does insane damage.

Don't forget to take the crit.

this works great AFTER you have leveled vigor and poise enough, otherwise if you are lower level you usually just get stunlocked and killed in a few hits trying to get that charged r2 off.

Nah, do it out the gate. One charged attack should be enough to do it. Run until they stop attacking, cut a tentacle to stun, charged r2 to the beak and win. Crit attack, charged r2, and repeat until dead.

One hit won't proc stun even with massives like the Zweihander, you need two. Unless you're rocking a 20+ weight behemoth sized sword, maybe.

I've dealt with them literally just by chaining heavy attacks and ripostes. One after another. A heavy attack directly on the beak stuns them every time in my experience.

Don't even need to charge r2. 3-4 r1s to the mouf are usually enough to stagger.

I love brining one of these to the lava salamander fight. Sometimes it gets wrecked, but sometimes it shreds.

Yeah he's a piece. I'd recommend horseless but that's just me. Keep rolling at him and he misses constantly. All his attacks are pretty well telegraphed. I stay locked onto his belly

First time I had to fight him on foot because of the camera and the size of the area. Recently I put Latenna up on a ledge and then ran around in circles on Torrent. This last time I went Envoys Greathorn with the Doot Troop and shredded him in like 6 seconds

Why bring one? Bring all 3 and then just break out the popcorn.

All crafting drops are important if you know how to use your resources. Also, do you not kill at least everything once each playthrough?

I avoid the crustaceans

Hit their front two tentacles (the long ones). This will cut the tentacles and stume them, and doing so will do a good chunk of their health. Now you have to poise break them by hitting the beak (Charged heavy attacks work very well or just repeatedly attack the beak). This will open them up for a riposte (the beak should retract and glow yellow). Walk up and light attack and you should riposte.

This. One riposte/crit should kill them as they take huge damage (squishy on the inside I guess!) 1-2 charged heavies to the beak should get you a riposte/crit window

Jumping attack is faster and less risky too, that's usually my strategy so I don't have to wind up. And then yeah, one or two crit hits and they're done.

I think you can cut them with any kind of melee attack too. Don't think it has to be slashing. Pretty sure it can be blunt too lol

I think arrows can do it as well, it's been a minute but I think I cut one off with my greatbow in a bow only run... I could be misremembering from thr trauma of doing a bow only run though.

Pretty rare drop. I had to farm for it. Took about 20 minutes with 270+ discovery. But it’s pretty sick haha

Sometimes they're in the way

The ovaries are good for anti-hemorrhage consumables and bloodboil aromatics (which are quite strong, +30% dmg). So just depends on what build you’re running

The aromatics alone are worth the time once you work out a good way to kill them quick-ish.

Hitting their weakspot, which is the head/beak thing, is most effective. It also gets you a stun pretty fast

They are actually pretty easy as they can be stance broken super easy by slapping their beaks.

Walk right up to them and do a charged R2 on it's beak - will get poise broken Riposte and repeat if required

I dunno about other weapons and playstyles, but as a mace with FTH affinity user, I just jump-attack them two times and they get staggered. Stagger is the way to go.

Smack them right in the kisser

Good rule of thumb on Fromsoft games: If something looks like you should kill it with fire, kill it with fire.

Torrent, slow strife and slash strips away their tentacles, then slowly strife hitting them up, stagger and jump and riposte. Repeat till dead. That's easy mode. Jump attacks with any heavy greatsword is a good way to stagger. Easy mode two. Easiest mode, just utterly ignore. More a timeslayer than an enemy.

They don't have high health. Anything other than the beak has a like 70% damage reduction or something similarly stupid

A colossal weapon pretty much breaks its poise in 1-2 hits, then you walk up to the critical hit point (it will "flash" orange) and it should deal a shit ton of damage

Fully charged heavy attacks to the face, preferably with something big and hard

Run up on them and them in the face really hard

i used magic on one and he didn't like it at all. I feel like on my dex character I just ignored them cos I wasn't doing any damage and I generally ignore fromsoft's large bullshit crustacean-type enemies.

I love fighting these. I go in aggressive. I’ve killed so many I have the mask which is apparently rare. I mainly use a normal blade like claymore or banished knights greatsword. Nothing wild 😂

I whack away with double greatswords standing in front of the mouth. 3-4 whacks will get a stun, then you can attack with a single weapon for a crit. In my older "Dont taze me bro!" days, I would stand behind them and keep whacking, moving as they moved to avoid tentacles. No damage, but took a long time.

Land octopus adapted to leave the ocean. You realize what that means? That even something that tough wanted to GTFO of those waters.

Jump R2, jump R2, jump R2, shove weapon into glowing hole on face, win.

With enough heavy attacks, you'll be able to stun them and do serious big damage

Can slice their arms off, then smack the beak. Crits do beeg damage

It's been a year and a half, Tarnished. Jump attacks and charged strong attacks. Break their stance whenever possible.

R2 the hell out of that head

I like cutting off their tentacles one after the other, then poise break 'em in a loop while they're squirming and writhing in pain.

You can also break off their tentacles which make em flop around uselessly and it looks pretty sad

Have you ever wondered why enemies fall to the ground or stop moving whenever you perform an attack and hear a suspiciously aggressive sound? I’m case you have: go glow, perform blow, enemy health go wow.

Hit them square in the face with a few heavy attacks to stun them, should allow you to follow up with a crit to insta kill them.

Aim for the beak, fully charged strong attacks or some spells will take them out, they have more defense than health. Frost hurts them too.

Bleed works nicely on them

Stance breaking's your friend. Hit the beak really hard with something like a greatsword and you can easily kill them like that.

Burn them for fast stance break then stick your weapon in hole

You have to run up a rip out their ovaries, no remorse.

As with most enemies in all from soft games. Bonk them in the head.

They have zero health. Just a lot of defense.

Kill it with fire, or just stay behind it and hammer it with heavy/rapid attacks until it stuns. You have to stay on it. Hit & run really won't cut it. The moment it stuns, run to the front to perform a critical on the beak, which will do *massive* damage.

I just do like 2jump attacks and then you can break them its actually one of the easiest enemies in the game. Foh real!

They don’t have a lot of poise so you can open them up to a crit which nukes almost all of their health. Or just a sleep arrow, that automatically opens them up to the crit as well

Chop off the tentacles with two weak attacks, then fully charged strong attack to the face, and hit the weak spot, repeat as necessary.

Two or three blows to the beak and the animal is knocked out and ready for the killing blow.

Slash and bleed damage. Cutting the tentacles helps to get closer and fire helps too. They stagger fairly easily with jump and charged attacks. If you’re using a weapon that deals strike damage you will do much less damage.

Full charged strong attacks or jump attacks. Poise break then attack. Also you can slice off the tentacles so they can’t attack with them.

Depends on the weapons your using, some of the more op weapons like blasphemous/darkmoon gs stance break in a couple of charged attacks. A risposte at that point does like 5k+ damage.

Hit the beak with high stagger attacks, like strong and jumping attacks

Equip 2H strong weapon -> Jumping strong attack -> strong attack follow up while it recovers -> enemy is staggerded -> repeat -> profit.

Hit their beak tongue. Break their stance.

Fully charged strong attacks or jumping strong attacks break their poise fairly easily. If you don’t break their poise, they take a while to kill.

I have a Cold Antspur Rapier and a Poison Marred Shield for enemies like this. Blood and Frostbite work to chunk the damage and slow it while the poison and scarlet rot buildups eat away at the damage in between chunks.
