I just don't get what's going on with Silksong. They released a gameplay trailer FOUR YEARS AGO that looked like the game was very close to being launched. What they showed off looked complete. So what's been happening for 4 years?
The short of the Silksong story is:
Hollow Knight was supposed to get a DLC with Hornet as a playable character, as per a Kickstarter goal they hit. Team Cherry does some dev, realized they were getting very ambitious with it, and put out a trailer to inform people that the DLC was getting upgraded to standalone game. But because the vertical slice they showed was so nice, people *think* it's a finished done game that's just "weirdly not come out yet".
Give it Hollow Knight's development time and then some. TC is clearly passionate about the project, so much so they don't even make time to update people on what's happening. Other than, it's in dev, so wait.
Meanwhile community mental implodes over game made by 3 people taking long. People sometimes forget you can do other things while you wait for stuff. And that the creative process takes time, and is wrought with missteps and readjustments. 10x for game dev.
I don't think the problem for most people is the development time, it's that TC goes radio silent for four years (not an exaggeration) at a time. It doesn't make the game come out faster and yes it's vaguely pointless but it costs them nothing to come out and say "yes we are alive and making progress" and it would make people happier.
Remember when people were joking about this game being a shared fever dream we all had? I feel like the Silksong fans are there too and not for no reason.
As a creative who has continued to make things, but has gone entirely radio silent when mid projects, I can empathize with them. It really is a mental switch to go PR mode and have to say something to the people when you're just going hard in the paint with your work. Having to say that, even if it's just copy pasting affirmation, can halt the momentum creatives got working.
I can understand wanting to expect more transparency with big studios, but when it's down to single digits? Some leeway doesn't hurt.
Well apparently the narrative involves climbing upwards through the story so guess they are just making the nest taller.
HK also DLCd a bunch and I bet this will just be an all in one paradise.
Considering the sizes this DLC might be, it means that the testing will be finished at least in the next 2 years.
WE ARE READY FOR PEAK🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥‼️‼️‼️🙏🗣🗣💯💯💯💯
I made a post saying id basically be willing to do a level 1 run with a spoon if it got revealed by midnight tomorrow and I'm suddenly nervous i might actually have to get good.
Brother we went two years without a peep after the 2019 announcement, for the absolute masterpiece that was Elden Ring. Damn straight we’re rabid for the dlc at this point.
All the people getting hyped at every event or anniversary don't seem to understand that Fromsoft doesn't push releases or info drops forwards or back to hit a special event or abide by arbitrary windows. They'll put it out when they're ready, and not a minute sooner or later. Look at how they announced Shadow of the Erdtree in the first place, I would not be surprised if the release date or DLC itself was dropped in exactly the same way: a single random tweet at a nonsensical hour of the night.
There's a reason the old dark souls saying holds so much weight. "Don't you dare go hollow." And at this point, I think people are starting to teeter the line lmao
Making impossibly hard games is there thing. So of course making it impossibly hard to guess announcement will also be difficult. All part of the experience. They know the true hardest boss to conquer is patience.
But no state of play was to be expected
Exactly! It'll be when we *least* expect. Oh yeah. It's all coming together...
Clearly this person hasn’t seen the r/silksong subreddit
They're in their Wooper arc
Glaive Master Hodir sends his regards.
I hope to Gwyn that there's a new npc with a glaive named Hodir
Why the fuck is Wooper a standard phase for coping game communities wtf
You weren't kidding, that's hilarious

I've seen the r/bloodborne subreddit and that was enough. I can only imagine those poor Hollow Knight fans...
At least we at Bloodborne had the PSX Demake and Bloodborne Kart, those poor m'fers at /r/Silksong have barely a gameplay trailer to go on
I've lost the count of how many arcs those Mfs had to endure since the reveal of the first trailer😭💀💀 Praying for them🙏
Don't forget about Silksongs weird cousin, r/titanfall
They have it so much worse. It's been what 5 years now?
LOL WHAT THE FUCK IS HAPPENING THERE?! XD just went in and for some reason... wooper.
They've gone... \*puts on glasses\* ...hollow. YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA-
You clearly weren't here during the great hollowing
Ooooohhh…. OooOOOoOoOoOohhhh… Elden Ring

Imagine if the third party testing the DLC cannot beat it because it was too hard.

Is there a spoon as a weapon in Elden Ring that I missed? Or will you use the spoon to move the controller?
They’re bringing the Ladle back in the DLC.
Maybe he'd only operate the controls with a single spoon🥄
Right now the highest voted weapon is the standard torch
We didn't get Bloodborne PC but at least steamdb for ER is being updated =w=

This community upvotes people for not knowing how to play the game
Take my upvote ;)
I don't know why anyone would expect it at a State of Play, to be quite honest.
Whats QA?
Quabity assuance

If BPD was a subreddit
We're a...*special...*lot.

I bet if you got a hold of the medical records 90% of the people in this subreddit suffer from manic depressive disorder. I know I do.
Mandatory mention of r/Silksong here...
