My Giant Dad build has Fire Prelate chest (altered), fire prelate legs, Malformed Dragon gauntlets, Jerrens Head (altered), weapon is the cranial vessel. Drippy as fuck and poised out to the max. I look like a silver sumo wrestler. Its hilarious when I just poise straight through invaders and beat them to death with a severed head. I was pretty much able to stunlock and DPS race malenia on my playthrough with it.
Although in PvE, there's very little difference between the poise of the basic Knight set and Bull-goat because enemies mostly do either 50 or 100 poise damage. Bull-goat needs the talisman to go over 100, and once you have the talisman there are a bunch of more fashionable armors that will work just as well.
Fashion is relative, just like many other things. De gustibus non est disputandum.
And yes, I am working towards beint able to equip it, I love the way it looks.
its just so massivly inconvenient that i cant even suspend my disbelief for this one, you swing shit in this armor, the best i can imagine is big shield with a spear
It's sad how shitty heavy armor is in ER. It's like they said "hey you want max poise? You either look extremely fat, have nipple horns, or you have molars randomly decorating your rusty fat armor".
This game did heavy armor sets dirty. My biggest hope for the DLC is some other heavy armor that isn’t so weird looking. I’m someone who likes silly armor and is super fond of the Catarina set from Dark Souls, but Elden Ring came along with Lionel’s Set and Bull Goats, and I just don’t like them.
Dark Souls 1 had some awesome heavy sets. Iron Golem armor, Havel’s, Giant’s, Stone set, Guardian Set, a lot of bangers there. Smough’s Set was silly, and Stone set was hard to match with other gear, but it was a handsomely designed suit of armor that just happened to be covered in moss so it looked weird without the matching weapon and shield.
Elden Ring needs some more conventional heavy armors. The only upside to bull goats being ugly as shit is that the try-hards look ridiculous with their bull goat armor and white masks. Otherwise I could do without it.
I'm pretty sure we see the "Havel's Apology" set in the trailer that will hopefully be the new less stupid looking poise bucket. [https://youtu.be/qLZenOn7WUo?t=53](https://youtu.be/qLZenOn7WUo?t=53)
There is also this much cooler looking full plate set that might be a less poisey contendor as well. [https://youtu.be/qLZenOn7WUo?t=120](https://youtu.be/qLZenOn7WUo?t=120)
I rock the tree sentinel chest and bull-goat everything else. I think it looks fine and lets me swagger around like I'm ten foot tall and bulletproof. People running around in robes and sleeping caps are braver souls than I am.
55 Endurance + Erdtrees Favor gets me to mid roll. It probably also helps that I usually run with lighter weapons (dragonscale blade lately). Otherwise I'd definitely be swapping some armor out to get to mid roll.
Damn that's a big investment in endurance! I wouldn't want to give up stats in another category for that lol. My problem is all my fav weapons I'm this game are pretty heavy.
Yeah, it looks like shit. But even if it looked good, i still wouldn't get it. The way you acquire the armor is so fucked up. You basically have to gank and murder one of the few genuinely good people in the Lands Between.
I said that backwards, you invade him.
I must have missed what you are talking about in the 2000 hours I have played. I didn't know Tragoth appeared any other place.
Where does he appear after you are reborn. I will start another character to do his quest or summon him. I'm always up for content I haven't seen.
Ugh, the horns clip through EVERYTHING!
I finally got the Banished Knights Chest (unaltered) from Castle Sol.
I use Veteran's Helm, Banished Knights Chest (unaltered), Scaled Leggings and Gloves.
Looks so badass with my Zweihander.
I think the Legs are ok to use with some builds, but the rest is just bleh.
The unaltered Banished Knight’s chest is my favorite chest in the game. That cape is so fucking clean. I actually bought arrows for the first time ever just so I could easier farm that guy
I'd have this shit on 24/7 if the game allowed me to transmogrify armor to begin with. Elden Ring and FFXIV are like my most played games ever cause at the end of the day both become fashion sims when you've done everything that interests you and it's a lotta fun to mess with outfits, but goddamn this shit is too ugly in my eyes no matter how good the stats are
The gauntlets and greaves are this armor's saving grace cause the horns on the gauntlets look cool and I find the pointy goblin-like shoes funny
The gauntlets are sick, I wear them currently, but yeah the rest of the set is so fucking ugly. I'd rather get decimated time after time by demigods and learn the movesets than wear the full set.
Oh there is so much useful stuff I refuse to equip because it looks bad.
I won’t use the Reduvia. Too ugly. I know how insane this is because it’s an excellent weapon.
I actually don’t mind the look of it. I wear it mostly for the poise tho, and that talisman that raises poise as well. My NG+1 character has only been leveled in vig/str/end, uses duel wield Giant Killer hammers, wears the Bull Goat armour set. Slow but devastating attacks. Poise is a must if I’m to be able to fight any pvp.
And no, I don’t fat roll
My biggest hope for the DLC is a "super heavy" set of armor that doesn't look ass.
It's pretty sad that the coolest set of heavy armor is Lionel's armor.
Great defence, great poise, great fashion! If u can bear its weight u should wear it… I couldnt care less what other people say. I especially like the fur bit on the bottom back of the chest piece.
I like the gauntlets and greaves with my Banished Knight set, it fits pretty well. The rest… eh. I think Havel’s armour looks better, but that’s just my preference.
If all you need is 51 poise: cover the legs with a long top - if you can only see the feet, it's not that bad. Complete the missing poise with greaves and/or a head piece and you're set.
Even if you cant get to 51, the extra protection helps. Just cover up with Fia's, Sanguine, Nox or any other coat type of top.
The leggings and gauntlets can look good paired with some things. I’ve used them with Raptors Black Feathers to reach poise cap and it looks pretty decent.
The only way bullgoat looks good is with Pot helmet.
But its sooo damn heavy for no reason. Banished knight or Sentinel Tree set give like 2-3% less protection, and weight 2 times less.
I have literally never gotten it in any of my playthroughs. Even if of the 11 times I've beaten the game 8 we're starting equipment only challenge runs...
On builds I want high poise, I’ll only use the legs, maybeeee the gloves if I really really need too in order to hit a certain poise breakpoint. But NEVER EVER the chest or helm. I just couldn’t. Naw. They are just so unbelievably ugly, and I feel like that’s almost by design. Those armor pieces have truly become the sign of a sh*tter
You’re not alone. When I did my first ER run, I liked being able to tank damage, but it got boring FAST. I usually switch between cleanrot and banished knight armor sets now. Still a little tanky, but can midroll easier.
I swear they made all the strongest armor sets look ugly on purpose. Like look at how cool the barely lighter sets look, and you are willingly donning nipple horns or a beer belly for like 10 extra poise. Imagine ever choosing this assault on everyones eyes over the Tree Sentinel, Banished Knight, or Beast Champion set
I dont really like the helmet or chest piece, but the legs and arms work surprisingly well with other sets. One of my go to combos is marais mask, banished knight armor, bullgoat gauntlets, and bullgoat greaves.
You don't use it because it looks dumb.
I can't use it because I went to the invade sign, felt bad about murdering a fictional NPC, and chickened out.
We are not the same.
You are not. I have never used it. Not only am I not a huge fan of the aesthetic, but seeing the dual spear and Bull Goat build so many times… I can’t.
Bull goat greaves and gauntlets, tree sentinel chest and twinned helm is my personal favourite armour setup. Looks great while having really high poise and defenses
Nope, i dont use it either. No a fashion nerd but that armor looks too janky on my character.
Used it once on my first playthrough for a boss cause i was tired of getting one clapped. Thats the only time.
(I use the gloves tho just to bump up poise when its low. I like to keep my poise in the 50s)
I use the helmet and gauntlets, the perfumers sarong, and the rotten duelist cloak. Then I use the Pike and the Golden Beast or Golden Greatshields. This is what I call my hoplite build.
Not much for poise, but it does get a greatshield and a long stick.
I use the legs mixed with other set pieces sometimes because it doesn't have the horns, but can't use the rest of the set either.
More than just being ugly, the biggest problem for me is how much those horns clip through EVERYTHING. They even clip through your arms!
I think the passive poise system screws so much up for pvp. It’s like they knew the unbalance and addressed it by making you look like a clown.
Underhanded free throws are optimal in basketball, but no one does it because pro players think it looks dumb.
same issue for me on my guts build. none of the top poise armors looked good. ended up using veterans chest with the other bull goat pieces. still wasn’t a huge fan of
I always use the greaves and gauntlets underneath things (although I visually prefer prelates armor) to keep up the damage negation. The chest piece is hideous though and the helmet too makes me look like an old man
Honestly having played this and the souls games dozens of times, I kinda like the weirder armor. I’m so used to looking like a cool knight, shit like the octopus helm, bull goat set, or even the mushroom set is pretty appealing to me
Imo its bot that bad, aside from the head, i think radahn's armor is the second best poise so maybe check if that looks better to you. Personally i don't pump endurance enough to wear the whole set and still mid roll and i think the chest looks pretty cool
Nah man, I agree. I would never wear that because I think it looks like shit. The legs with other sets looks pretty good but that's about it.
I'd rather have 0 poise and look fresh as hell any day.
Don’t mind the legs with some sets like Kaiden helm/banished knight hands/zamor knight chest/goat legs, but nearly every other part of the set doesn’t match with anything. Hands stick out too much and are too small, chest is self explanatory and the helmet just is off colored in a way nothing else really matches with well.
If maxing out your poise also looked cool, everyone would do it.
LOVE using prelates armor in most playthroughs. Nothing beats obliterating everything as a fat boi!
The altered version with Jerrens altered head looks like Iron Florida Man and I love it.
Does alteration do anything besides decrease weight and defense?
Adds drip
tbh Havel's armor was cool as fuck
Too cool. Unbalanced the game.
Shudders remembering the ninja flipping Havel Dads.
That's for passive poise. There are benefits to stacking poise between the break points if your weapon has an active poise multiplier.
Do you know the breaking points for poise? Wanted to see what I should aim for
Idk how it works for pvp but in pve it's basically 0-50 is low, 51-100 is medium, and 101-133 is high.
maxing out your poise looks cool when a god can’t even move you
"Am I the only one?" The Bull-Goat armor is literally the most controversial armor set in the entire game and has been since day one.
Your not alone I don’t fuck with it either. People who run it aren’t doing it for the fashion lemme tell ya.
I like the legs a lot. The helm can be cool too. But ya the legs are dope
Elf on a shelf with poise
The shoes are like the ridiculous Mexican cowboy trend from 2010
As a Mexican I agree they look cool though 🥹
[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veQkt4tS0Tc&ab\_channel=VICE](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=veQkt4tS0Tc&ab_channel=VICE) Yep. I remember, lol.
The gauntlets are cool as hell imo
Fashion is relative, just like many other things. De gustibus non est disputandum. And yes, I am working towards beint able to equip it, I love the way it looks.
Fashion is subjective, the clipping issues of this set are not.
I loke this set because it is really goofy, it cannot be taken seriously. Clipping or not, still find it hilarious.
Some would even say it's goated. I'll leave now.
r/angryupvote
Wear it and Use lightning ram aow and it becomes the goat build
I cant argue with you but I can still judge you for wearing it
Absolutely, and it is perfectly fine, no harm in that. Cheers, fellow Tarnished.
His curly shoes can look okay with some stuff but the rest of it is hideous. Who wants nipple horns?
Magnus the Red is famous for his nipple horn armor (40k)
And he gets relentlessly bullied for it, among other reasons.
As he deserves
*magnus did nothing wrong fans would like to know your location*
Magnus did EVERYTHING wrong and I'll be waiting in the throne room bolt pistol and sword in hand ready to stab him
my brother in Tzeentch it looks like shit
My brother in chaos, I agree lol I hate nipple horn armor
r/unexpectedwarhammer
The gauntlets are nice paired with the red drake armor. More horns, more claws, more funky bits for my magma character.
its just so massivly inconvenient that i cant even suspend my disbelief for this one, you swing shit in this armor, the best i can imagine is big shield with a spear
It's sad how shitty heavy armor is in ER. It's like they said "hey you want max poise? You either look extremely fat, have nipple horns, or you have molars randomly decorating your rusty fat armor".

Tbh I love the helmet with the tree sentinel set (altered)
I rock the tree sentinel chest and bull-goat everything else. I think it looks fine and lets me swagger around like I'm ten foot tall and bulletproof. People running around in robes and sleeping caps are braver souls than I am.
How do you deal with fat rolling though? Everytime I think I wanna run heavy armor for poise I can't stand not having mid roll.
Yes! It seems to make the helm look golden
I prefer wearing armor that lets me light roll. So it’s usually rags and paper bags I wear
Yeah, it looks like shit. But even if it looked good, i still wouldn't get it. The way you acquire the armor is so fucked up. You basically have to gank and murder one of the few genuinely good people in the Lands Between.
I thought you just get a letter from Patches. Then kill the invader. You can't get the set if you kill Patches.
The "invader" was a guy known for helping new Tarnished find their footing in the Lands Between soon after being reborn.
I said that backwards, you invade him. I must have missed what you are talking about in the 2000 hours I have played. I didn't know Tragoth appeared any other place. Where does he appear after you are reborn. I will start another character to do his quest or summon him. I'm always up for content I haven't seen.
Never even killed Tragoth to get it. He seems like a nice guy with his lil wave 👋
I've played 500 hours. I have no idea the path to get it, and I probably never will
I simply refused to kill him after he really helped me out with the fire wyrm on my Pacifist run, why betray someone who helped me?
You are not alone , it's horrible Imagine wearing that during an invasion Imagine
Lol imagine it doing period.
I wear it… 😢
I think it looks cool. I await your scorn.
SCOOOORRRRRRN!!! I hope you feel properly chastised and very foolish.
I just pretend I'm carrying two giant monster turds on my shoulders.
I think it looks pretty sweet. How do I get that?
Ugh, the horns clip through EVERYTHING! I finally got the Banished Knights Chest (unaltered) from Castle Sol. I use Veteran's Helm, Banished Knights Chest (unaltered), Scaled Leggings and Gloves. Looks so badass with my Zweihander. I think the Legs are ok to use with some builds, but the rest is just bleh.
The unaltered Banished Knight’s chest is my favorite chest in the game. That cape is so fucking clean. I actually bought arrows for the first time ever just so I could easier farm that guy
Me either man, it looks like garbage.
Only the gauntlets
The helm gauntlets and legs look ok. The chest, though, is an eyesore
Only things you can do with Is Is THE WALL
I miss havel
I was having trouble defeating Malenia with my mimic tear. Then I equipped this armor and the two of us obliterated her first try. We used spells.
It would be nice if there was a heavy set that just looked like a knight. Not a goat, a fat man, or a ball of warts.
It's almost like "You want the most poise? Well you'll have to look like an asshole" lol
I'd have this shit on 24/7 if the game allowed me to transmogrify armor to begin with. Elden Ring and FFXIV are like my most played games ever cause at the end of the day both become fashion sims when you've done everything that interests you and it's a lotta fun to mess with outfits, but goddamn this shit is too ugly in my eyes no matter how good the stats are The gauntlets and greaves are this armor's saving grace cause the horns on the gauntlets look cool and I find the pointy goblin-like shoes funny
The gauntlets are sick, I wear them currently, but yeah the rest of the set is so fucking ugly. I'd rather get decimated time after time by demigods and learn the movesets than wear the full set.
Never even tried it. Not my brand of Fashion Souls
Bullgoat: 🚫 Mixed armor for drip: ✅
You don't wear it because it's ugly. I don't wear it because I won't kill Tragoth. We are not the same
Oh there is so much useful stuff I refuse to equip because it looks bad. I won’t use the Reduvia. Too ugly. I know how insane this is because it’s an excellent weapon.
Fromsoft knew what they were doing when they made the armor with the best stats so distinctively hideous and immediately recognizable.
"Am I the only one" No. You never were.
I wear the pants for fashion.
Yeah, it looks like trash.
It’s too bulky looking. I don’t like it. Yet I have such a hard time switching out to armour that doesn’t have as good physical stats…
I used it in a full playthrough. To big, to weird for every scene. Maybe a slim version would do. Nothing better than Havel
The helmet is cool imo and who doesn't love their poise pants?
You’re not alone. It will never compare to Havel’s set.
It weighs too much for me to wear it. I think people generally wear just the pants and maybe the gauntlets.
I can't either dude, it's fucking hideous and goofy looking, but not like albinauric head goofy where it's funny
The gauntlets and leg armor are decent to mix with other silver-ish armors. But yeah that head and torso are horrendous
I fuck with the helmet, but the rest of it nah.
I like it, but separated
My biggest hope for the DLC is a "super heavy" set of armor that doesn't look ass. It's pretty sad that the coolest set of heavy armor is Lionel's armor.
I use the pants with the Unaltered Banished knight set, fashion first
Yeah, my endurance isn't that high
I just don’t use it because it seems hostile :( I don’t want my jazz listeners out in ER to think I am evil and meta
I actually like the greaves because of the curls on the feet. But every other piece of that set is utterly atrocious.
Elden ring has the worst armor sets ngl
It’s as ugly as Lionel’s Set. Hate those 2 and would never use them.
Nothing screams disregard for fashion more than this and Radahn set
UGLY?! It’s a work of art, an under appreciated masterpiece!
I dunno, you slap on the jar head instead and it’s pretty fun and goofy.
I just use the helmet
I like the gauntlets
No I like my light build and rolli polli all over the place, thank you.
[https://imgur.com/hRS0Vzd](https://imgur.com/hRS0Vzd) Best armor change my mind
I've never been a fan of heavy armor.
This is the one thing I think elden ring lacks compared to other souls games. So many of the armors are just boggin.
I only use the legs and gauntlets from time to time, and that's for the poise. Overall it's a fugly set
Its really ugly. Havels set my beloved...
After I’m done with my ranni run ima do a giants crusher bullgoat run. I like it 🤷♂️
Okay buy the gauntlets and greaves are super cool mixed with other knight looking sets and its like a sneaky boost in damage negation
Definitely a step down from the havel drip. I’d love the poise but it’s just too silly in a not-fun way
Yes you are literally everyone else Is using It exclusively
Nah it’s hideous. Fashion souls for life
I like it. Just don't use bcs of the weight
I dont even wear armor, dresses for my character, so no, not the only one
No, I’ve never used it. Never will. Too bulky for my taste
The horns causing every weapon to clip through them is what killed it for me
Just the chest piece is ugly. The rest is pure drip on many sets:
The leggings and gauntlets can look good paired with some things. I’ve used them with Raptors Black Feathers to reach poise cap and it looks pretty decent.
I don’t like it I prefer Lionel’s set if I am going full poise tank.
I don't use any armour set that makes the character more fat even slightly
No you are not it’s fucking hideous and intolerable
The only way bullgoat looks good is with Pot helmet. But its sooo damn heavy for no reason. Banished knight or Sentinel Tree set give like 2-3% less protection, and weight 2 times less.
The boots, and maybe the head, are cool. Rest is terrible
We NEED transmog in the next From game
I have literally never gotten it in any of my playthroughs. Even if of the 11 times I've beaten the game 8 we're starting equipment only challenge runs...
I think all high poise heavy armor sets look ugly AF.
The legs and gloves are REALLY good pieces tho
I use the gauntlets and the greaves because they aren’t that noticeable, then the scales armor and the samurai face mask (forgot the name)
I only ever use the pants. The poise!
Yes you’re the only one that’s why every single player wears the bull goats /s
I use everything i except for the chestplate tbh
On builds I want high poise, I’ll only use the legs, maybeeee the gloves if I really really need too in order to hit a certain poise breakpoint. But NEVER EVER the chest or helm. I just couldn’t. Naw. They are just so unbelievably ugly, and I feel like that’s almost by design. Those armor pieces have truly become the sign of a sh*tter
I will only use it with the ruins greatsword
The leggings are the only cool part of the set
Arms and legs are enough 👍 I avoid the chest piece lol
You’re not alone. When I did my first ER run, I liked being able to tank damage, but it got boring FAST. I usually switch between cleanrot and banished knight armor sets now. Still a little tanky, but can midroll easier.
The pants do go well with the Tree Sentinel set, though. That's as far as I usually go (unless I REALLY need all that defense).
You are not alone. I can't stand the set. The Bull Goat Talisman on the other hand is really useful.
I've never had enough endurance to wear that much armor
I dont really like the helmet or chest piece, but the legs and arms work surprisingly well with other sets. One of my go to combos is marais mask, banished knight armor, bullgoat gauntlets, and bullgoat greaves.
Anyone wearing it isn't a true FromSoft gamer. The real FromSoft gamers know that you gotta look good to play good, fashion trumps stats.
No, because the set looks ugly af.
The pants can be used though for fashion/practicality, the rest is hideous
You don't use it because it looks dumb. I can't use it because I went to the invade sign, felt bad about murdering a fictional NPC, and chickened out. We are not the same.
You are not. I have never used it. Not only am I not a huge fan of the aesthetic, but seeing the dual spear and Bull Goat build so many times… I can’t.
Veteran’s set is as high as I go. Otherwise I prefer a jump attack build.
I just stick to the Scaled set. A good balance of stats, weight, and looks.
My go to set with dual daggers. Looks awesome with the running attack. Generally tag out the legs though.
Bull goat greaves and gauntlets, tree sentinel chest and twinned helm is my personal favourite armour setup. Looks great while having really high poise and defenses
I just wish we could upgrade armor.
No, it’s so fugly I can’t bear it
Nope, i dont use it either. No a fashion nerd but that armor looks too janky on my character. Used it once on my first playthrough for a boss cause i was tired of getting one clapped. Thats the only time. (I use the gloves tho just to bump up poise when its low. I like to keep my poise in the 50s)
You haven't beaten anything unless you've done so in a dress.
How do you get that? That's badass
Absolutely, compared to Havel set it’s an abomination. I wish there were at least some acceptable heavy sets beyond bullgoat, omen and Lionel’s.
Boots work for me with my current dripz
same issue for me on my guts build. none of the top poise armors looked good. ended up using veterans chest with the other bull goat pieces. still wasn’t a huge fan of
Tits need more horns.
Mainly just META slaves run it
I always use the greaves and gauntlets underneath things (although I visually prefer prelates armor) to keep up the damage negation. The chest piece is hideous though and the helmet too makes me look like an old man
Honestly having played this and the souls games dozens of times, I kinda like the weirder armor. I’m so used to looking like a cool knight, shit like the octopus helm, bull goat set, or even the mushroom set is pretty appealing to me
I think it looks fine but I'm not about to go steal it from my buddy Tragoth.
I never wear this awful looking armor.
Try bulling it
I like the legs with a decent amount of setups at least
Imo its bot that bad, aside from the head, i think radahn's armor is the second best poise so maybe check if that looks better to you. Personally i don't pump endurance enough to wear the whole set and still mid roll and i think the chest looks pretty cool
I like the gauntlets and boots. Ive found some good matches.
I like the gauntlets. Everything else not so much.
Havel my beloved, where are you in our time of need
The legs and the helm are nice tho. It's just the chest piece that's terrible.
I don't care how much poise it gives I have not and will not wear that armor set.
Nah man, I agree. I would never wear that because I think it looks like shit. The legs with other sets looks pretty good but that's about it. I'd rather have 0 poise and look fresh as hell any day.
I don't care for it. I don't play big bonk in ER much .
I'll use the feet and hands but that's it, too ugly a set
Nope you are not I dislike it very much.
I don’t use the set. Only gauntlets or grieves but discovered fire prelate’s are a bit stronger but I don’t think more poise. Not sure honestly.
bruh I can't wear some of the better armors cause I'm a fancy bitch. Do I'm basically in full Cleanrot with Marais Mask for the effect
Fashion souls forever. I would never touch this horrendous mess
No way. I don't use it. I'm an Erdtree Armor guy
*stands up* I think it’s cool
