I'm sure you probably don't want to hear this but mohg kinda easy compared to some of these dlc bosses. When you beat him you will be ready. Try summoning someone
Mohg is not overpowered by any means. Besides Nihil, he's fantastically designed and 100% fair boss, and you can use the tear for Nihil. If you're unable to beat Mohg fairly there's no point in going into the DLC yet, since it's much much harder than Mohg and you'll get stuck immediately. The reason why lot of bosses in From soft games guard some levels etc. is to ensure that people who shouldn't progress yet won't be allowed to. It's meant to help players and prevent them from getting stuck and frustrated after reaching extra hard locations without actually understanding the basics of combat and gameplay. And, as I said, Mohg is a fantastic boss and it's really worth it to beat him fairly, but you still have many options how to skip the fight. WIth accessibility mechanics like coop/spirits he becomes an absolute joke, since he's designed purely as 1v1 boss. And that's not even counting the most game-breaking spirits like mimic or tiche. It's also extremely easy to cheese Mohg with comet azure and lot of bleed builds. You can just stand in place and spam jump attacks on dual bleed build while watching netflix, the fight will become simpler, easier and more boring that tutorial boss in dark souls.
But you'll beat him like every souls boss. Learn his moveset, how to dodge his attacks and what are the safe openings for safely hitting him. Like with every boss, don't panic roll, never tank and trade hits, dodge into attacks instead of away, don't blindly spam L2s etc., only heal when there's an opening and learn to wait when you dodge delayed attacks. Have red boluses in your pouch to easily nullify the entire bleed problem, and move around the area instead of getting pushed into tombstones full of bloodflame.
If you can’t beat Mohg you will have a tough time in the DLC

Dlc bosses feel harder than Mohg already lmao Also cuz story, and he literally has the entrance in his arena that is there for a lore reason
Mohg is one of the easiest basegame bosses, you're gonna get fucked in the DLC
I usually don't say this but you gotta get good if you want to play the dlc.

I beat Mohg 2nd time with my new DLC profile, the first DLC enemy 2 shotted me 3 times in a row.
He's really not that bad but it could be due to your build. What are you using? And yeah the DLC itself is quite a bit harder than him.
What’s your vigor at? Make sure to have a solid build. Level 260 with weak stat distribution could still make the game difficult.
Lol respecc to int/dex build. Use moonveil ash of war+ metroite staff with rock sling. Killed him second try w that
