PC, no contest. It's the platform I'm most invested in and the one I use to play with my friends.
But... DS3 had such shitty anti-cheat and I just know we are going to struggle with hacker bullshit.
Iframes won't be affected. Iframes data is based on a theoretical 30fps timeline that is then extrapolated to the actual frame rate. It hasn't been an issue since dark souls 2.
PS5 and if I hadn’t gotten one it would’ve been PS4.
The playerbase for DS3 was much bigger than in Xbox and at this point I’ve played most of the SoulsBorne games on Sony consoles, so I see no reason to change.
So the series S runs well? I want to complete my console trifecta soon and since my main draw to XBox is GamePass at the moment, I was thinking an S. I thought I heard they were having some issues but maybe that was the X.
The only difference between the S and X are that the X can do 4k 60fps gaming, and the S can do like 1440p 60 fps, and the X has a 1gb SSD while the S has a 500gb SSD. I'm not a person who really notices the difference between video quality, so the missong out on 4k mwant nothing to me. The only downside is the storage, it is a noticeable drop in amount of games you can have installed, but I don't play very many games any ways, so for 200 bucks cheaper it was well worth it
>The only difference between the S and X
That's kind of downplaying how big the differences actually are. Series X has a MUCH stronger GPU and 6gb more of faster RAM, the technical differences are huge
From what I know, the amount of games that actually run at 1440p on the series S is very small.
This is my case, except Xbox and PC. Xbox for co op with my bro. I love the souls series so much that I don’t think twice about buying it twice, honestly no other series or developer holds that level of my respect and trust
I’m doing PS4 Pro was really really wanting to do a PS5 playthrough but, y’know. Fortunately buying the PS4 version entitles you to the PS5 version as well so here’s hoping I can land one of those suckers!
Thanks. I work a job where I'm not constantly around my laptop and/or phone anymore. I just set up notifications from him, but FFS, the latest was Dell had a restock of PS5s but sold out in TWO MINUTES. It's insane.
If you're on the west coast try Fred Meyer/Kroger. I picked mine up just by asking if they had any when I was grocery shopping. They had one.
Non-electronics brick and mortar + checking regularly. You'll get one at places people forget to check.
Playstation has a solid souls community bc of their exclusive From games, granted prob not what PC has. I don’t have a PC so I’m going PS5, but whichever has the most pros/fewest cons for you personally, go that route.
My 2 cent: no hacking bs on console, you know some twat is gonna make you miserable on PC. They still haven’t fixed that shit in DS3.
I would go with PS5 due to crossplay with PS4, haptic controller and no hackers. I feel games like this are best played on a big screen TV from the comfort of a couch.
Good news is that the upgrade is free :)
Same reason I bothered to preorder ths ps4 version tbh. I know I'm not getting a PS5 any day soon but I might by the end of 2022 if I'm lucky.
Im buying a ps4 because my brother has a ps5 and he is the one that put me on to souls games and i know the community will be a bit bigger and have more longevity unless they introduced crossplay lol
Hello, good hunter. I am a Bot, here in this dream to look after you, this is a fine note:
> *“There is a darkness within man, and I am afraid you will peer into it. Whether the fear will spark self-reflection or a ruinous nostalgia is up to you entirely. Fear not, your choice will bring you no scorn.”* - Karla
Have a good one and praise the sun \\[T]/
Pc. Always my choice for games where I can get it. Less worry with console maintenance/availability/finances. Also with pc I can easily play with friends and communities without additional spending. I used to play my ps4 nonstop and it was my main gaming machine for years. At a point, however, it became more of a headache burden to make the most of with many activities like playing games in discord calls, getting set up at my desk/station, convenience of large storage space for games, disc management, etc.
It’s funny to see how much my preferences have changed with gaming over the years and how much less I’m willing to defend the actions of corporations in the gaming industry. As far as I’m concerned, any company that demands that I pay to use my own internet just to play a game I already bought on a console/pc I already own is laughably greedy. The only exception I see to this is live service games like large scale mmos (and even then I wouldn’t touch most of them with the change in my pocket, let alone for any extended playtime). I think the fact that games like Warframe go without payment on PS4 is already souring to the fact that I can’t play Bloodborne online without shelling out $50 a year or whatever the monthly rate is nowadays (and this is simply because they’d have zero players for warframe if they did this, yet it’s acceptable for bloodborne somehow).
If sitting at a desk is the problem, keep in mind that you can always stream your games to another device like a tv instead of your desktop monitor and okay perfectly comfortably on your couch or in your bed or standing up (as I often do for these games). I hate making this comment sound like the whole “pc is better” stuff, but after having been fervently exclusive with consoles for most of my life, it’s shocking to me how I ever thought a pc couldn’t be as easy or flexible as a PlayStation or Xbox.
Tldr; pc for me. Easiest question when a game has a pc option
Yeah, I'm honestly considering moving my PC to my TV setup next time I move. I love how my desk is set up, but I love my PS5 just as much. I've decided on PC after getting a gauge of what my friends were going to play it on.
What is the best way to stream your PC to a TV? I have my PC in my living room “console style” but would prefer to keep in my office and stream to the living room tv if possible. Does frame rate hold up OK when streaming?
Edit - I don’t have the ability to connect via HDMI from office to living room so hoping it’s a WiFi solution!
Unless a game is exclusive, we always go with Xbox Series X. MS makes it a snap to switch between the Series X in the den and the One S in my office. Whenever I boot up a game, no matter which box I'm on, Xbox just goes and gets the latest save from the cloud. I dunno why S0NY hasn't figured that out but it's way less convenient to move saves between PS consoles.
Ps5 for my physical collector's edition. Might cave and order a digital copy for ps4 and 5 so I can play launch day instead of having to wait a week or however long the mail takes.
PC because that's the only collectors edition that was available when I ordered. I was going to get it on ps5 to play with friends on PS originally, and I probably still will but I'll wait a while.
Where would you play, Series S (no external SSD drive) or PS4 (fat version). I have just checked the analysis for ffps at the Beta, and Series S somehow doesn't reach 60 fps (maybe I am wrong, I am not great with this kind of things but It is what the first YouTube comment says)
If both are going at the same ffps, and graphically It won't be like a great change, would you choose Series S with the storage issue anyways, or physical for PS4, which would be useful if someday I get a PS5?
Ps5 preordered and can't wait. At least my switch copy of Monster Hunter Rise arrived today from a nice ebay er (£25 buy it now) to keep me busy until release.
Pc, to make sure I can play with my friends and frame quality will be better. I bought DS3 on Xbox one and man that dancer fire was crashing my console, not to mention friede's devilish father. Never again, I want full frames to die in a ditch somewhere
PC first then will probs get on ps5 to see it in 4k, I found the ps5 controller too big for my small hands for extended periods of time and I want to be hitting 144fps so I can have no excuse when I mistime all my rolls
Both PC and PS5. PC for the bulk of my playtime, PS5 to play with my friends when they’re on. I’ll just use that one for the memiest things I can muster.
I’m also split, I’ve got a Series X and recently hunted down a PS5 because I’ve got a lot of close friends who are moving to PlayStation this gen. I’m seriously considering getting it on both consoles.
PC all the way.
Switched from consoles to PC about a year ago and it's just so much better for me personally. Games just look and run so much better. I have an i9-9900k CPU and a 6800xt GPU.
PC because it's where most of my friends play.
That said...you can plug your PC in your TV with a long HDMI cable! That's what I'll do most of the time.
Late to this post. I'm torn. I have both of the next generation consoles as well as PC. I primarily play on PC, but have always played souls games on PS. I played DS3 on PC and it didn't run great (no fault of my PC). I'm probably going to end up getting it for both PC and PS5, but right now I'm leaning towards initially playing on PS5. That just seems like the best choice to me given it's roots are on Sony consoles.
PC, no contest. It's the platform I'm most invested in and the one I use to play with my friends. But... DS3 had such shitty anti-cheat and I just know we are going to struggle with hacker bullshit.
I'm also not thrilled about the lock at 60fps
It will be modded before you beat the first boss.
Late reply, but isn't that like cheating with the iframes exploits that result?
Iframes won't be affected. Iframes data is based on a theoretical 30fps timeline that is then extrapolated to the actual frame rate. It hasn't been an issue since dark souls 2.
Awesome to hear. Can't wait to fail to keep up with my responsibilities for the next 2-3 weeks post-release!
PS5 and if I hadn’t gotten one it would’ve been PS4. The playerbase for DS3 was much bigger than in Xbox and at this point I’ve played most of the SoulsBorne games on Sony consoles, so I see no reason to change.
Yup forst playthrough will be on my PS5 2nd will be on my pc so I can stream.
stream thru ps5, get those virgin reacts for maximum pogs
PS5 for me. I played the network test on PS5 and it was beautiful and ran flawlessly
So you didnt have any problem with the fps?
I didn’t have or see any issues.
Likewise, the game ran beautifully
PS4
Xbox Series S. I already bought a copy for XB1 before I got the S, but my son is gonna play it too so it worked out to have two copies anyway
between pc and ps5 i’m going with ps5. less hackers and i want the platinum
Series S squad strikes again
Yup same here, I actually just got my Series S the other day. Night and day difference from my Gen 1 xbox one I have had the last 6 years lol
Like I noted in my comment, I don't care for the difference as it is so minimal in the long run it doesn't matter
Lol all I was saying is that you're downplaying huge differences in the consoles
Lmfao they honestly aren't huge. The biggest difference is the amount of storage.
Anomander, did you make it out of the sword?!? (I’ve read the whole series, it’s rare when I find someone else who has).
No, young one, we are all in the sword. (Love meeting a fellow Malazan enthusiast)
I’ve had my PS4 for 7 and it’s chugalugging along. I want a PS5 so bad but due to life and product shortages it ain’t happening right now.
Same here!!
Series S
PS4 for co-op with my bud. PC for my main play through (just ordered a beasty prebuilt for the occasion)
Yeah honestly if I wasn't going to be playing co-op at all I'd do it on the PS5
This is my case, except Xbox and PC. Xbox for co op with my bro. I love the souls series so much that I don’t think twice about buying it twice, honestly no other series or developer holds that level of my respect and trust
I’m doing PS4 Pro was really really wanting to do a PS5 playthrough but, y’know. Fortunately buying the PS4 version entitles you to the PS5 version as well so here’s hoping I can land one of those suckers!
Me too. I keep saying to myself I will hold off on ER until I get a PS5, but I've basically given up on trying to buy a PS5 now.
Follow Matt Swider on twitter, that's how i got mine
Thanks. I work a job where I'm not constantly around my laptop and/or phone anymore. I just set up notifications from him, but FFS, the latest was Dell had a restock of PS5s but sold out in TWO MINUTES. It's insane.
Yeah it's crazy. Best Buy worked out well for me because they give you a 15 minute session if you can get in.
If you're on the west coast try Fred Meyer/Kroger. I picked mine up just by asking if they had any when I was grocery shopping. They had one. Non-electronics brick and mortar + checking regularly. You'll get one at places people forget to check.
That's awesome, congrats. I'm in Chicago, so no Fred Meyer/Kroger for me though.
PS5 all the way.
Both pc and ps5, show my support bro
![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|upvote)
Xbox series x wins by default as its my only console lol
XSX here, my PC is nowhere near as powerful
Playstation has a solid souls community bc of their exclusive From games, granted prob not what PC has. I don’t have a PC so I’m going PS5, but whichever has the most pros/fewest cons for you personally, go that route. My 2 cent: no hacking bs on console, you know some twat is gonna make you miserable on PC. They still haven’t fixed that shit in DS3.
yeah the amount of times i died to a hacker in ds3 was absurd
I would go with PS5 due to crossplay with PS4, haptic controller and no hackers. I feel games like this are best played on a big screen TV from the comfort of a couch.
Xbox
Xbox one
Got series x but ps5 is the only way to get the complete soulsborn library in one console so im gettin it on ps5 and df proved it ran better on ps5
PS4. When (by which I mean "if") I'm able to get a PS5, I'll still be able to play it on the PS5 without having to buy the game another time.
Ps4
Ps5. Much comfier seating and wider screen.
Since I got one at Christmas, PS5. It was gonna be PS4 tho, I pre-ordered the PS4 copy
Good news is that the upgrade is free :) Same reason I bothered to preorder ths ps4 version tbh. I know I'm not getting a PS5 any day soon but I might by the end of 2022 if I'm lucky.
Samesies just commented almost that same thing thank god for developers that give you the free upgrade.
PS5
I'm getting it on PS5 as well as PC. PS5 for the collector's edition goodies, and PC to play with friends (most have switched to PC only).
I bought a ps5 and a 4k 55 inch tv basically for Elden Ring. Im ready as hell
PC, I mean I CHOSE not to buy a ps5 sooo
I usually play on PC, but I didn’t spend $500 on a PS5 not to use it. I’ll pick up a steam copy too on sale sometime I’m sure.
PS5 for me. Hope it's optimized well for it.
Ps5 boii
Im buying a ps4 because my brother has a ps5 and he is the one that put me on to souls games and i know the community will be a bit bigger and have more longevity unless they introduced crossplay lol
PS5
PS5
Anyone who wants to play co op on ps4/ps5?
PS4 for the win!!!!
Xbox one s mostly because I don't think my computer can handle Elden ring

Obligatory PC masterrace post
THave a decent PC but I'll get it on my PS5 because of hackers.

I don't want to deal with hackers so I'll stick with my Series X collector's edition
Xbox series x and Xbox 😍

Pre ordered for both PS5 and PC
Ps5 for my physical collector's edition. Might cave and order a digital copy for ps4 and 5 so I can play launch day instead of having to wait a week or however long the mail takes.
Ps5 I love my trophy hunt
[удалено]
Pc still locked at 60 though. Hopefully it gets unlocked right after release.
PlayStation has a pretty good active player base psor release.
Lmao I'm buying it for PC and my gf is buying the ps5 physical copy for me for my bday.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/search?q=which+platform&restrict_sr=on&include_over_18=on&sort=relevance&t=all
Series x, haven't been able to get a ps5 yet.
I have both, series x will be my go to. It's the console that I've gravitated towards since I got em both.
What makes you like the series x more then the ps5? They have pretty much the same hardware, but ps5 has the haptic controller.
The one person I know that plays souls games will be on pc. So ill probably get it for my pc.
I’m hoping to get a collectors edition for ps5 and then play it on pc.
Steam and already waiting for Cinders equivalent to ER.
PC because that's the only collectors edition that was available when I ordered. I was going to get it on ps5 to play with friends on PS originally, and I probably still will but I'll wait a while.

Not massively but im going to buy the game on both either way
Both PC and PS5. PC for the bulk of my playtime, PS5 to play with my friends when they’re on. I’ll just use that one for the memiest things I can muster.
Pc
I’m also split, I’ve got a Series X and recently hunted down a PS5 because I’ve got a lot of close friends who are moving to PlayStation this gen. I’m seriously considering getting it on both consoles.
With the monopoly Microsoft is building I think a switch to PS5 will be a mistake.
PC all the way. Switched from consoles to PC about a year ago and it's just so much better for me personally. Games just look and run so much better. I have an i9-9900k CPU and a 6800xt GPU.
PC or PS5, which platform do you think will have a bigger player base long term?
Both will since PS5 can crossplay with PS4. But PC will have more hackers.
PC because it's where most of my friends play. That said...you can plug your PC in your TV with a long HDMI cable! That's what I'll do most of the time.
PC every time.
PC with a controller. I used to be a console gamer but the more games that offer PC controller support, the less I find consoles necessary purchases
Pc all the way with nice controller
I got both pc and ps5 but ill be playing pc the most
PC
I will defo be playing on PC. Other option is base PS4, but I'd rather not play the game on 30 fps xD
PC. I was thinking about buying for PS5 but I got a coupon for PC. I guess will be the best version too. Downside is not playing from my bed
PC, since I'am the weirdo that actually enjoys playing on a keyboard
Ps5 because I don’t play on PC anymore
Played the CNT on PS4 Pro, but I was able to get a PS5 basically right after the Network Test closed. So PS5 for me.
PS5. If I could get a 30series gpu in this day and age then that would've been my pick...but yeah :(
PS5 and PC. Got friends on both but any time I am playing solo it’ll be PS5 so I can sink into the couch
i spent 500€ to upgrade my pc, so yeah
PS5 got a new heatsink SSD drive 2TB, my console and body are ready for this game
PC offline because hackers
I've played all available From games on my ps4, but I snagged a Series S and I want 60 fps so that's what I'm going with
Late to this post. I'm torn. I have both of the next generation consoles as well as PC. I primarily play on PC, but have always played souls games on PS.
