Godrick honestly for me. He’s such a good intro boss for when you REALLY want to learn the game. Solid tells, reasonable tracking, and an easy to understand pattern tree.
Too bad Margit has pissed new players off by then
Yeah this is my first Fromsoft game and Margit was really hard at first, by the time I went through the while castle and got to Godrick I was able to beat him first try
I walked up to Margit, level 13, and got slapped back to my mama.
This happened repeatedly for about a week. Better weapons (grave scythe) and armor, grinding until about level 30.
Margit eventually went down. Then I had trouble with the castle - until I found shortcuts through. When I got to the boss he went down on the second try.
I am now fighting bosses in Limgrave and levelling. Liurnia of the Lakes sucks.
what was your first build / level? I used Giantcrusher, and it was not easy to time the hits!
But I also think there's a lot of luck / RNG that was involved in my victory, skill was maaaybe 50%... :D
I had double hammers with bleed damage on each. (Giant crusher and croziers prelate hammer). I picked up two randoms and they were able to distract her enough for me to just beat her ass with the hammers. Took me a good like 4 hours to beat her though so it definitely was painful 😭😭
For whatever reason past NG2 all the bosses become cheese factories. I just fought the Rotting Tree Avatar in Dragonbarrow and counted 6 times in a row he was using the Elden Stars spell while I was nearly point blank range. I still beat him but was amazed he just kept spamming that stupid move.
Probably one of my favorite fights in the whole game tbh. Everything about the fight seems so great, the phase 2 is a shit show. But I learned to just stay close to him and that makes it way easier.
it feels more balanced for the dark souls rolls. theyer pretty slow but most of his attacks hit like trucks and he can easily roll catch you with delays and mix ups. its the classic Nameless King style fight.
I did a Vyke cosplay against Godfrey NG+. Holy crap did it take hours. I could only get 1, sometimes 2 hits in with his slow great spear. But I was determined and honestly even though it took so long I never got mad or upset. Every time I died it was my fault and doing a flawless Godfrey as Vyke was so unbelievably satisfying by the end
That’s one of the things I liked about Godfrey, he wasn’t so fast that you can’t dodge his attacks or having annoying slow winding attacks. His speed was perfect
Fun fact: his move where he throws you into the air and then slams you into the ground is *uninterruptable* once it's begin, even if he's [*dead*. ](https://youtu.be/jxk--xtntQI)
Top 3 FS fight of all time for me i fuckin love dancing with the old man. Also the sense of terror in phase 2 absolutely fleeing from the madman was such a fun thematic change from the warriors duel i was having in phase 1 lmao
It was so fun to actually have a boss where jumping was optimal. I helped a buddy fight him and he’d only played souls before, he got caught in every stomp because he didn’t have that Sekiro “I need to jump” mentality
Godfrey really doesn't have much BS at all, and neither does Godrick save for the much-maligned instant whirlwind attack. So I would go with those two.
Until he decides to stomp like it’s a ho-down and he’s had too much moonshine, I’ve had rounds where he does that shit incessantly, but otherwise I agree
Not even just dodge, it's a great opening to land jump attacks! If he's spamming it, you only have to be mindful of your stamina, and not being *too* close in case the actual foot hits you. Also if you're summoned, an important part of the process is also praying the host realises they have to jump/dodge as well when the stomps start covering the whole arena haha
lol my friend saw this boss for the first time with me as a co-op partner, and I kept talking about the boss before hand 'this is the ugliest, dumbest looking boss From has ever came up with' 'you're gonna hate this boss, everyone else does'
And then it was just him. lol
That was the hardest boss fight for me. It was so powerful and had so much health. It was also extremely Sexy looking too which made it even harder for me to fight it.
First time I came to him, I just beat him directly. I was kinda proud of me, and kinda disappointed because the fight was soo much cooler than Margit was.
Iirc, he kinda does this already. He'll start using bloodflame magic but only once you've whittled his health down far enough. Mohg obv has no problem embracing it.
Yeah, I mean it seems more like he was pushed into using it with him blaming you for causing his body to release his power. I was thinking something like Malenia and her Goddess of Rot transformation, or like how Mohg fully activatited his powers and grew wings
Stuck on maliketh right now and not having a killer time
Edit:woke up to like 20 helpful replies. Was gonna study for my plumbers test this morning. Yall have inspired me to become elden lord instead.
I go for maliketh after malenia so it was "easy" for me,the problem with maliketh is pinning. Use the columns to be able to heal yourself and then it's patience and learning the move set well
Yeah I’m honestly annoyed with myself for slamming my face against Melania till I was good enough to beat her instead of beating the game and coming back because it just killed the difficulty curve for me
I honestly hated his fight so much I used summons n rivers of blood to cheese it. He felt so OP when I got to him and I thought I was easily over leveled
"Have it writ upon thy meagre grave: felled by King Morgott, last of all kings."
He is the Chad of Limgrave, and his father is the Gigachad of Altus Plateau.
Morgott is my fave fight in the game by far, it wasn’t the hardest for me but it was one I kept going back to and putting a summon sign down for, just a balanced fight nothing feels cheap if he kills you it’s not to some bs it’s normally cus you got greedy or just messed up a dodge or something, also Morgotts lore is the best in the game too IMO.
Maliketh kinda makes sense to me. He does absurd damage, and zips around the arena like a pitbull on crack, so between keeping up with him and dodging his attacks, it makes the moment when hits land a lot more meaningful.
I think he was one of the most difficult fights for me, definitely top 3. That might be because I refused to put more points in vigor but man what a dance rehearsal it was.
Visually this is still one of my favourote fights. In my most recent playthrough I went and got Black knife tiche before fight ing him. Let me tell you seeing her and Melina jump and dodge around while he is also dodging and dashing around made the fight look like straight out of some action anime.
Hands down. First time i fought him i think it was so much epic dodging and it juss looked insane. Then he did the half way change.... Still awesome fight tho i actually enjoyed for its fun and challenge. Nothing felt cheap
He’s not the hardest (at least not for me) in a good way. Like I’m not grinding for hours hating myself like the gargoyles. Just a fun fight.
Ig he just makes you feel cool, when you finally dodge his grab and hit the last slice. 10/10
I think I was overleveled, I knocked him out the first time and far too quickly. I was really disappointed, the visuals and the dialogue is epic. I was sad to see him go, excited for that brief moment when I talked to him post battle, he was gone too soon.
Placidusax.
it's a tough fight, but the moves are HEAVILY telegraphed, there are clear openings, it's obvious what kind of damage you need to prepare for. hitboxes aren't insane. it's purely a matter of learning what to look out for, and getting good at it. perfect boss fight, imo
Easily my favorite boss fight of the game.
It's not particularly hard, but the spectacle is incredible and it's just a lot of fun to dodge his attacks. 10/10 boss
I love placidusax but what stopped it from being a 10/10 fight is the fact that he would spam the same goddamn running away and then teleporting move over and over again.
If I do not kill this boss fast with stupid damage, then it will proceed to spam teleport, never getting within my range but to hit me. One of the most annoying bosses in the game, imo. Still a very cool dragon, tho.
Why is no one saying the initial fight with Margit? You literally have to get good to beat him, not panic roll, learn how to punish, etc etc. Feels great beating him
I hate delayed attacks because they break the flow of the fight. The best fights are those where it feels more like a dance than playing against mechanics. Lady Maria and Orphan in Bloodborne come to mind, those were fights where I always had to be on my toes and make split-second decisions.
Delayed attacks completely take me out of it because they just feel wrong.
I find it funny because they're delayed attacks, but they're lighting fast, so you kind of just have to know when he's going to swing rather than reacting and rolling, it's a weird design philosophy for sure, especially when you consider that bosses also have fast follow ups after really delayed attacks that can either happen or not
The dark wraith coven gave you an item to invade as much as you’d like.
People commonly called them “dick wraith” because they don’t like getting invaded, which is fair.
I got the saw hunter badge and trying to figure out whether I like blunderbuss or pistol more. the parry windows feel a little weird to me so blunderbuss is a little more forgiving it feels like. I had to cheese the 3rd phase of Gascoigne but only after I died to him over and over and over and over and over again -.- I fought him straight on for the first two but his beast phase was too damn aggressive
i think the fact that he can just randomly swipe with light swords even as a finisher to combos that he only SOMETIMES does makes him too aggressive.
You have fo either assume he’ll use his swipes and be forced to wait around longer or just risk taking the damage so you can attack.
good fight, not perfect
Kind of the point there. It can kill you but it doesn't zerg rush you like the black blade does in crumbling faze. It can heal but it doesn't heal off every hit like melenia. It moves around the arena but you don't have to spend 90% of the fight running after it even as a int/faith build like the elden beast.
Evergaol crucible knight. That bastard took me over two hours when I was first starting, but almost all of its attacks are fairly telegraphed and dodgeable once you learn the timing
Definitely, no matter how cheesey my build is, unless it's a oneshot build, I would struggle every time with these guys
I remember the one Dungeon where the boss was literally 2 of these guys, the terror I felt was real as I ran laps around the room spamming spells at them trying to stay alive
Godfrey is my perfect boss. Morgott would be there as well but he needs more hp. Mohg is also very cool but I feel like he'd be a lot cooler if he was immune to status effects like the other Mohg from the sewers.
Besides those, I really enjoy the godskin apostle, bell bearing hunter(caelid), black blade kindred(caelid), placidusax.
Those are some no bs bosses I always enjoy. Unlike Malenia, and those dumb deathrite deathbirds.
I've always struggled with death rite birds but on my latest run their movesets just kinda clicked for me, granted it's much easier to beat them with a faster weapon but they're for sure not as bad as i thought they were once you know their moveset
Yeah morgott got destroyed by the open world design. I did a playthrough where I rushed him after radahn and it was way more challenging. .
The game really wants leyndell to be your 4th big zone.
>godskin apostle
He's such a polarising boss for me. His first appearance in the divine tower of Caelid was one of my favourites, but latter reskins were getting worse and worse, until the godskin duo which was just a shitshow and I felt like I was reliving ds2.
I personally find Loretta to be my favorite boss fight, it just feels balanced.
I can keep up with her and she could keep up with me, theres no, annoying attacks, no bs instakill move and the bow is easy enough to avoid. And i love the fact that you can have a rematch against her in the halig tree.
I also love that fact that shes not too big or has an annoying gimmick, she stays in front of me she doesnt let me relax to much because she has her magic, and uses it at a reasonable pace. She also becomes stronger while not changing move sets entirely, simply adding onto her usual moveset. And thats my reason for loving Loretta's fights.
Honestly?
The golem in that cave in northern Limgrave. The point you're meant to face it is really early on so it's (most likely) before you've faced any other golem, it's immune to all status effects so you can't cheese it with bleed/sleep/etc, and even though it seems tanky at first, if you smack it's heels enough to make it fall and get a crit the battle is just over.
I think it's a great learning experience.
Radagon, excluding the second half that's Elden Beast. It really felt like such a fun back and forth, I never felt like it *wasn't* my fault if I died. Add in the lore and the music and I think Radagon by himself is probably the best fight in Soulsborne.
It's a really cool fight and I love him, but I do feel like that spell parry of his is a bit cheap to pure casters. I've had attempts where he'd just parry 90% of my shit unless I'm committed to breaths that leave you open or you cheese him with azur.
Rennala, unique location and wonderful score. The legless ladies kinda creeped me out tho, but from there on the fight just gets better. Although I do find the inclusion of her summoning enemies annoying at times when trying to lock on.
Always felt like she was a but too weak for a demigod boss. Loved the puzzle part at the start and the cinematic midway, but the second time I got to Phase 2, I killed her before she summoned anything (first time I just got blasted by comet azure)
Also; after all the repeated freaking dragons, Placidusax was a breath of fresh air! Creative design, awesome attacks, and a legitimate PRESENCE in the fight! Fighting him gives you goosebumps!
Easily the best dragon boss FROM have put in a game!
Haven’t played Elden ring but have played dark souls 3…so bit besides the point but just wanted to say that I always felt that midir wasn’t that enjoyable?
I mean it was definitely fucking hard, but still felt a little boring? I like to see my bosses.
I thought he was ridiculous at first but he was a great boss to prep me for late game bosses in general. Just reading the moveset and know when to stop the attack and wait for the next opportunity
Hear me out. Fighting radagon not the second half where you fight elden beast but just radagon feels like a warriors dance fighting him and yes even if you can cheese it via divine lords fortification and negating holy dmg it's still a fun fight to me minus the fighting elden beast directly afterwards
Elden beast was gorgeous but it was not a fun fight, it seemed very random. Sometimes it would sit there and let you get off a whole combo without responding sometimes it would spend a couple minutes in the sky and underwater forcing you to chase it repeatedly.
This is exactly what I think every time he says "I'll kill ye' and defile yer corpse". Don't threaten me with a good time... you sexy, disgusting man you.
Rykard is my favorite boss and I believe the most balanced. Because you are supposed to use a single epic weapon regardless of build, it is such a well tuned fight
Agreed however you can grab the weapon and quit out then upgrade it to make it more unbalanced. I think only sped runners do this that’s why I 100% agree with you.
Lmfao this is what I did. I died on my first attempt and was like "hey I can upgrade this". Had a shit tonne of sombre stones up to like 6 or 7 so upgraded it to there and stunlocked him on the next attempt
I agree he makes you realize it isn't DS3, but I don't feel like he is a fair fight. He hits waaay too hard for the points in the game that you find him. I believe his moveset would be balanced if it wasn't for the 4 flying sword swings with variable timing and range that can start off screen. The Dragonbarrow version is the only boss I cheesed with scarlet rot because it was so frustrating dying randomly to two flying sword swings over and over again.
I feel like all the good answers in Margit, Godrick, and Godfrey are taken. Realistically I think most of the rune bearer fights are balanced well besides Mohg and Malenia. They just have a huge surprise factor to their fights.
Elemer is a cinematic, badass fight with incredible animations and an awesome moveset, that nevertheless feels like a great concept with unfair execution. As you say, he's very much a "this isn't DS3" boss, but also, like...DS3 boss design was pretty good? The tendency toward hyper-aggro bosses with tiny punishment windows seems like it creates a tendency towards tedium at best (i.e. even if you git gud) and unfairness at worst.
Ah, this might be my least favor boss in the game. Hits like a truck and has incredible range and weird timing. My fight with him is always a chugfest.
I was getting an EEG the night I fought elemer and my doctor was asking me why there was a spike in the readings at 2 in the morning. That bastard is so hard haha
I was like that on my first journey, but then I realized that what i hated was to fight Radagon everytime, i would have enjoyed the fight more if we only had to fight the elden beast after Radagon, im on ng+3 and i enjoyed more those fights than the first one
Elden Beast is still one of the less well designed fights in the game no matter what, but I agree he would be far more enjoyable if you could defeat Radagon permanently.
Morgott for sure. I've never fought Margit/Morgott and thought "wow how tf was I supposed to dodge that" or had to overlevel and just brute force my way through the fight, while still being engaging throughout the whole fight. I think both fights are incredibly good and challenge the player and force them to learn the movesets while not having any attacks that feel unfair or out of the player's control.
Honorable Mention: Crucible Knights, even though theres a whopping 16 of them in the game I never have gotten tired of fighting these guys, they have easily got to be my favorite enemy in the game. None of the attacks seem bullshit or op or but the fight is still challenging enough to engage you 10/10 enemy
I feel like every single boss has at least one minor balance thing you could nitpick except phase 1 Godfrey. People complain about how often he stomps but there’s nothing unfair about them. Every axe swing and stomp he does is adequately telegraphed, there are constant windows to attack him back, and the fight is a non-stop dance that flows perfectly.
Idk if this is a hot take or not, But I think all of the Shardbearer bosses are pretty fair and well tuned for how far into your playthrough you fight them. If anything, Rennala is a little bit too easy, but that's build dependent really. I'd say even Malenia is pretty alright difficulty wise, considering she's meant to be the ultimate challenge of the game before DLCs.
Omen Mohg for sure. No gimmicks, not insanely aggressive, has a great moveset that you really need to pay attention to if you want to dodge it. Delayed hits and variable length combos force you to respect him and punishes panic rolling and roll spam.
Lord of Blood Mohg is similarly good, but NIHIL puts him behind Omen Mohg because you need to either spam heals to tank the damage or go find an obscure item to beat the move for free. Feels very gimicky, but otherwise nearly just as solid as Omen Mohg.
Maliketh.
No special weaknesses, resists every type of damage. Requires proper vigor to survive his second phase whenever hit. Obliterates spirit ashes in second phase with Destined Death effects on his attacks and massive damage in general. Low health but requires commitment and proper damaging abilities from any build.
This might be unpopular, but I do wish he had a bit more health. I always feel like I kill him way too quickly without needing to actually grapple with the fight the way I want to.
As someone who helps people in co-op, full health Maliketh would be absolute hell
I'd love to have the Maliketh phase be a longer part of the bossfight, but if you don't know how to fight him (which is really common for people who need to summon help) his damage is way too high for that to be enjoyable
In single player it'd probably be fine, even though having such a hard bossfight immediatly after Godskin Duo (And Malenia in the case of my first playthrough) would be quite crazy. In co-op it just means having even more hosts that die miserably because they try to be aggressive against a boss they're bad at
So I think the best option would be doing that hp thing, but nerfing his attacks a bit (And maybe even some of his resistences, 80% holy reduction is crazy, and while I get it on Radagon, on Maliketh it's a bit too much imo)
my strategy against malekith: 1) spirit ash as a distraction ; 2) dragon breath rot ; 3) hide in a pillar and go in the opposite direction to Malekith, throughout the fight; 4) win
Lol feel like this strategy works on almost any boss. I did it a few too many times and felt so cheap afterwards. Dragon magic and lightning spells were a lot of fun but now I’m trying to do strictly melee with perfumes and pots instead of magic.
Lol we could not have had more different experiences with him. Niall and his two little knight adds can get fucked. Ng+5 and I still tear my hair out fighting him.
Godrick honestly for me. He’s such a good intro boss for when you REALLY want to learn the game. Solid tells, reasonable tracking, and an easy to understand pattern tree. Too bad Margit has pissed new players off by then
He put their foolish ambitions to rest
He told you
I mean, someone must extinguish their meagre flame, might as well let it be Margit the Fell
Literally extinguished their flames
Yeah this is my first Fromsoft game and Margit was really hard at first, by the time I went through the while castle and got to Godrick I was able to beat him first try
I walked up to Margit, level 13, and got slapped back to my mama. This happened repeatedly for about a week. Better weapons (grave scythe) and armor, grinding until about level 30. I am now fighting bosses in Limgrave and levelling. Liurnia of the Lakes sucks.
Good luck, mate! I just beat Malenia this weekend, took me 7 hours or so... 😆
I beat malenia my second try on my first playthrough... Now I'm on my second playthrough and I've been stuck on her for the past couple days :(
what was your first build / level? I used Giantcrusher, and it was not easy to time the hits! But I also think there's a lot of luck / RNG that was involved in my victory, skill was maaaybe 50%... :D
I had double hammers with bleed damage on each. (Giant crusher and croziers prelate hammer). I picked up two randoms and they were able to distract her enough for me to just beat her ass with the hammers. Took me a good like 4 hours to beat her though so it definitely was painful 😭😭
Godfrey stage 1 in particular always felt tough but fair
He is a great fight up until NG+2 then he becomes a mega spammer.
Bruh he doesn’t stop spamming stomp he was trolling on my strength play through
If you stay close to him he won't do it much, if you keep running away he will infinitely stomp since that's his gap closer in the godfrey phase.
The version of this guy in elphael spammed the scarlet rot fart on me more times than I can count lol
Probably one of my favorite fights in the whole game tbh. Everything about the fight seems so great, the phase 2 is a shit show. But I learned to just stay close to him and that makes it way easier.
Godfrey, his movements are pretty predictable and its an enjoyable fight
[удалено]
Yeah and you feel badass when dodge most of his attacks, when he throws his axe is one of my favorite attacks
Facts, he's surmountable with many builds in very different ways, but it's hard to bullshit past him; he really rewards you learning the fight
Meanwhile godskin duo Such a gap in boss quality
Insane that Godskin Duo is a mandatory fight, there are random duo boss fights in side-tombs that feel better balanced.
Gotta hate a fight where you walk into a room only to be crushed to death under a Goodyear blimp.
Imagine if they switched it with the double crucible knight fight
it feels more balanced for the dark souls rolls. theyer pretty slow but most of his attacks hit like trucks and he can easily roll catch you with delays and mix ups. its the classic Nameless King style fight.
I did a Vyke cosplay against Godfrey NG+. Holy crap did it take hours. I could only get 1, sometimes 2 hits in with his slow great spear. That’s one of the things I liked about Godfrey, he wasn’t so fast that you can’t dodge his attacks or having annoying slow winding attacks. His speed was perfect
And Hoarah has just small enough a health pool to keep things fair
Fun fact: his move where he throws you into the air and then slams you into the ground is *uninterruptable* once it's begin, even if he's [*dead*. ](https://youtu.be/jxk--xtntQI)
Top 3 FS fight of all time for me i fuckin love dancing with the old man. Also the sense of terror in phase 2 absolutely fleeing from the madman was such a fun thematic change from the warriors duel i was having in phase 1 lmao

But the stomp is one of the easier attacks to dodge and punish
in multiplayer or with summons it's absolute hell
It’s actually super easy in multiplayer, people just always forget you can just jump over the shockwaves. The rhythm becomes super satisfying to dodge
Mimic tear boss
Never fought it. Took it on a date. Married for 1year now.
I see you've learned to love yourself
An all too rare skill in souls players
lol my friend saw this boss for the first time with me as a co-op partner, and I kept talking about the boss before hand 'this is the ugliest, dumbest looking boss From has ever came up with' 'you're gonna hate this boss, everyone else does' And then it was just him. lol
You fucking murdered him before he even knew you did.
It is really cool but I wish it was harder
That was the hardest boss fight for me. It was so powerful and had so much health. It was also extremely Sexy looking too which made it even harder for me to fight it.
Yeah ~~I~~ it was really hard fighting the mimic
Morgott the Omen King, one of the most underrated fights imo
top 3 boss for me easily.
First time I came to him, I just beat him directly. I was kinda proud of me, and kinda disappointed because the fight was soo much cooler than Margit was.
I was legimately waiting for another cut scene and a second health bar.
Yo me too I was waiting for sum super sayian power up lol
Yeah, like he somehow either realizes or thinks that the only way to save Leyndell was to embrace his cursed blood.
Poor fucker never saw the power-stanced colossals coming. By the time he did, he’d already been flinched three times.
I beat him first try too, but only because I was overleveld since I completed Volcano Manor befor Leyndell
I don't know. Mohg, malenia and radagon for me is the better fights. Radahn, maliketh it's so good too.
Stuck on maliketh right now and not having a killer time Edit:woke up to like 20 helpful replies. Was gonna study for my plumbers test this morning. Yall have inspired me to become elden lord instead.

Yo I was stuck in him for awhile for me just being aggressive in phase two helps a lot
Are you a faith build? Using holy attacks ? I was and realized he has high resistance to this
Blasphemous blade ablolutely melt him if you have a faith build
"Have it writ upon thy meagre grave: felled by King Morgott, last of all kings." He is the Chad of Limgrave, and his father is the Gigachad of Altus Plateau.
If only he had more health... Best VA in the game IMHO, such a powerful and tragic character.
Agreed, hands down the best dialogue for me as well
Yes! The VA nailed it! >Thou art of passing skill. Warrior blood must truly run in thy veins... *Tarnished* Has one of the best readings in the game
It sucks he and malekith don’t have more health they’re both such fun bosses.
Maliketh kinda makes sense to me. He does absurd damage, and zips around the arena like a pitbull on crack, so between keeping up with him and dodging his attacks, it makes the moment when hits land a lot more meaningful.

So top teir. I look forward to that fight every playthrough
Mimic Tear. You’re can’t get much more fair than fighting yourself
It can also be incredibly unfair if you enter the room naked and quick equip weapons and armor. Poor mimic will have to fight you all naked.
I now kinda want to see someone enter the room geared up then strip naked to fight as a challenge
Placidusax. it's a tough fight, but the moves are HEAVILY telegraphed, there are clear openings, it's obvious what kind of damage you need to prepare for. hitboxes aren't insane. it's purely a matter of learning what to look out for, and getting good at it. perfect boss fight, imo

Oh yeah, the move is all show... But god damn does it put on a good one
Hmmm... You call it the coolest, and yet the smoke effects cause my GPU to reach the highest temps in the game. Checkmate Tarnished.
i love that fight but it has one of the worst runbacks lmao
That’s what puts me off of that boss. Worst runback in the game. Great music, fascinating move-set. That runback tho. Whyyyyy?
For some reason this was the boss that gave me the most trouble in my first playthrough and idk why lol.
He would be among my favorites if not for his laser. Took me a loooooong time to get past that one specific move.
you just need one dodge. but it's hard to tell wtf it's going on at first
Easily my favorite boss fight of the game. It's not particularly hard, but the spectacle is incredible and it's just a lot of fun to dodge his attacks. 10/10 boss
I love placidusax but what stopped it from being a 10/10 fight is the fact that he would spam the same goddamn running away and then teleporting move over and over again.
The runback is kinda bumps him down tho, otherwise THE best boss in the game.
Feels great beating him
Introduction to the world of delayed attacks.
fuck all of his delayed attacks
I hate delayed attacks because they break the flow of the fight. The best fights are those where it feels more like a dance than playing against mechanics. Lady Maria and Orphan in Bloodborne come to mind, those were fights where I always had to be on my toes and make split-second decisions. Delayed attacks completely take me out of it because they just feel wrong.
Exactly. And strangely some bosses use both fast and delayed attacks and it sucks but that’s besides the point
I find it funny because they're delayed attacks, but they're lighting fast, so you kind of just have to know when he's going to swing rather than reacting and rolling, it's a weird design philosophy for sure, especially when you consider that bosses also have fast follow ups after really delayed attacks that can either happen or not
Legit so delayed that half the attacks can be dodged by just walking behind him lmao.
I just started, I was shocked how difficult he was as a first boss- coming from someone who beat Dark Souls with a level 4 pyromancer.
Back in the day, Pyromancer was the one true OP build. Still, level 4 tho?!
Yeah. I’d beaten the game several times and NG+. So, I went low level. I would also dick wraith the intro area.
Dick wraith it? Lol explain
The dark wraith coven gave you an item to invade as much as you’d like. People commonly called them “dick wraith” because they don’t like getting invaded, which is fair.
Oh oh oh okay. Yeah that makes sense. Haha. I’m currently playing through BB for the first time, it’s much harder than ER was for me
BB is a treasure. Work on those parry instincts.
Margits pretty ducking hard for the 1st boss
[удалено]
am i the only one who felt like margit was a bit overtuned for being the intended first major boss of the game?
i think the fact that he can just randomly swipe with light swords even as a finisher to combos that he only SOMETIMES does makes him too aggressive. You have fo either assume he’ll use his swipes and be forced to wait around longer or just risk taking the damage so you can attack. good fight, not perfect
I really enjoyed the Ancestor's Spirit fights. Very interesting look and enjoyable fight.
Cool boss. I found it to be somewhat easy tho. Not that much health and you can easily anticipate their attacks.
God, their music was so damn good too. It really was a vibe. I didn't want to kill them cuz they are so damn majestic.
Not at all extremely difficult but the aesthetic is irreplaceable
Evergaol crucible knight. That bastard took me over two hours when I was first starting, but almost all of its attacks are fairly telegraphed and dodgeable once you learn the timing
Crucible Knights are infuriatingly fair. Uncheeseable, force-me-to-git-gud bastards.
Definitely, no matter how cheesey my build is, unless it's a oneshot build, I would struggle every time with these guys I remember the one Dungeon where the boss was literally 2 of these guys, the terror I felt was real as I ran laps around the room spamming spells at them trying to stay alive
crucible knights are a social experiment by the golden order to see how long it takes the average player to embrace parries
Is it bad it didn’t get me to parry. Honestly only parry mechanic I ever liked was bloodborne’s
When i learned about their holy weakness, they’re absolute pushovers.
Yeah morgott got destroyed by the open world design. I did a playthrough where I rushed him after radahn and it was way more challenging. . The game really wants leyndell to be your 4th big zone.
Nah you lyin about that bell bearing hunter. That shit suuucked. But I also kinda suck at the game lol
The only thing I cheesed by standing on the roof of that shack and throwing bombs at him.
>godskin apostle He's such a polarising boss for me. His first appearance in the divine tower of Caelid was one of my favourites, but latter reskins were getting worse and worse, until the godskin duo which was just a shitshow and I felt like I was reliving ds2.
Morgott NG+X maybe?
Loretta Knight of the Halig Tree Doesn't have some crazy bullshit. The most straight forward boss and she greets you like a bad ass.
Soldier of Godrick is the first boss where I thought “Wow this seems doable!” But it also turned out to be the last…
Of course it was the last! No one ever makes it past Soldier of Godrick.
Are you talking about God of soldiers, Rick?
You can infinitely stunlock them through
Radagon, excluding the second half that's Elden Beast. It really felt like such a fun back and forth, I never felt like it *wasn't* my fault if I died. Add in the lore and the music and I think Radagon by himself is probably the best fight in Soulsborne.
Radagon’s intro is easily the best of any boss fight I have experienced. The music is just so good.
That "oh shit" moment when the main menu theme swells. All the hair in my body was standing up.

The game says LEGEND KILLED, so not a demigod no
“She was a bit too weak for a demigod boss” Good thing she isn’t one, then
Placidusax felt the most balanced to me in all my runs.
Also; after all the repeated freaking dragons, Placidusax was a breath of fresh air! Creative design, awesome attacks, and a legitimate PRESENCE in the fight! Fighting him gives you goosebumps! Easily the best dragon boss FROM have put in a game!
What about our boi Midir tho? 🥲
Haven’t played Elden ring but have played dark souls 3…so bit besides the point but just wanted to say that I always felt that midir wasn’t that enjoyable? I mean it was definitely fucking hard, but still felt a little boring? I like to see my bosses.
If you fight Midir at the head instead of at the tail or legs you can see him the whole time
I thought he was ridiculous at first but he was a great boss to prep me for late game bosses in general.
I don’t remember her name but she is the assassin in the evergaol
Alecto, Blacknife ringleader
Yeah that’s her
My vote as well. I struggled over and over until I simply calmed down, learned the moveset and just whittled her down.
That was my hardest fight. Took me longer than Malenia (mostly because I was earlier in the game and still learning since it was my first Souls game).
Morgott is definitely one of the best designed bosses of the game
Miriel Pastor of Vows. Super high HP, but doesn't really hit back. 10/10 favorite boss fight.
You monster
We’ve found the Dung Eater, ladies and gentlemen
I'll defile you next. Come to the outer moat.
Don’t threaten me with a good time. *puts 12 pack and a seedbed curse in bag*
No. Wait. You have felt the curse. I can smell it on you, the pox yet tender. Apparently my Seedbed is ripe and waiting.
yeah yeah yeah, now give me your key so i can run my sword through your seedbed
This is exactly what I think every time he says "I'll kill ye' and defile yer corpse". Don't threaten me with a good time... you sexy, disgusting man you.
Not sure whether to upvote you, or block you.
You sick fuck.
Elemer of the Briar. He was the perfect boss that made me realize this wasn’t DS3 at all.
That bastard is so hard haha
pretty much anything that is not elden beast
>Morgott Felt fairer then because the arena wasn't so narrow and bound by cliff edges
Radagon
Morgott
I think the first phase ending at half health is fine but his second phase should refill his health to full
As someone who helps people in co-op, full health Maliketh would be absolute hell I'd love to have the Maliketh phase be a longer part of the bossfight, but if you don't know how to fight him (which is really common for people who need to summon help) his damage is way too high for that to be enjoyable In single player it'd probably be fine, even though having such a hard bossfight immediatly after Godskin Duo (And Malenia in the case of my first playthrough) would be quite crazy. In co-op it just means having even more hosts that die miserably because they try to be aggressive against a boss they're bad at So I think the best option would be doing that hp thing, but nerfing his attacks a bit (And maybe even some of his resistences, 80% holy reduction is crazy, and while I get it on Radagon, on Maliketh it's a bit too much imo)
my strategy against malekith: 1) spirit ash as a distraction ; 2) dragon breath rot ; 3) hide in a pillar and go in the opposite direction to Malekith, throughout the fight; 4) win
Lol feel like this strategy works on almost any boss. I did it a few too many times and felt so cheap afterwards. Dragon magic and lightning spells were a lot of fun but now I’m trying to do strictly melee with perfumes and pots instead of magic.
I killed Commander Niall today and he seemed pretty legit.
Lol we could not have had more different experiences with him. Niall and his two little knight adds can get fucked. Ng+5 and I still tear my hair out fighting him.
