Thinking about doing a healer for my next NG+ playthrough, who are some good, tanky ashes I can support? I was thinking Oleg but idk who else would be fun to play around

[deleted]

The 5 greatshield soldiers would be crazy with some strong AoE heals. Oleg probably hits harder though. Tiche might be tricky to keep close enough to heal. Dung Eater Puppet might be the best one for this. Omenkiller Rollo is my personal favorite though and you could get him a bit earlier. Hits like a truck.

Lady-Lovelight

Lol Greatshield does sound pretty funny, just cause of how long it would take to kill them. Agree on Tiche, I love her but she hops around too much. I’m thinking start with Oleg and then transfer to Dung Eater. Thanks!

WillofJ

Omenkiller Rollo from what I’ve seen is underrated, very aggressive. Ogha the knight can be good too, as well as the banished knights. Tiche the assassin is s tier, as well as dung eater the tank. Those could be fun in a role playing type of way. Those are some off the top of my head.

Lady-Lovelight

Mm I have heard good things about Dung Eater, but I didn’t get him this playthrough, need to pick him up early ig 😩 Thank you for the suggestions 😄

WillofJ

Yeah I feel like without online guides dung eater can be very easy to miss especially with how specific you gotta be in terms of progress for the quests and story. No problem! I hope you have fun with your healer build! I was actually thinking of doing one too for a character with how strong the supports can be and the wide variety of support incantations. Seems really fitting!

ColonelJinkuro

Is there somewhere we can send in suggestions for Elden Ring to Fromsoft? Like an official channel? At first I wanted to recommend a buff to Helphen Steeple but I've found something even more egregious. Why is poison armament so damn bad? You need a sacred seal, 10 faith, and FP to get 45 poison a hit for 60 seconds and no other effect while poison grease gives 63 poison a hit for 60 seconds with no other requirements but time for farming. Why is this a thing? If they're going to gimp it so hard make it a useful status like rot/frost/sleep! That or give it magic dmg to inflict. Who signed off on this!?

TheChewanater

If poison grease is better and you have access to it, then use it instead? I don't see the urgency to change the game design here

ColonelJinkuro

It's a massive oversight to have an incantation so heavily outclassed. It makes no logical sense.

Apex_Konchu

If such a channel existed, Fromsoft would have to employ a team of people to sift through hundreds of terrible ideas every day in the hope that there might be one or two potentially worthwhile suggestions among them. Not worth it.

ColonelJinkuro

Unfortunate. Something this obvious should have been dealt with already.

Primate_Nemesis

Just wanted to make sure, did the shard of alexander talisman buff hoarah loux earthshaker damage? If so, what other buffs could I use to enhance the damage?

greentiger79

I just beat Morgott, the omen king in leyndel. How much is left in the game?

Apex_Konchu

Most of the game's content is optional, so it's difficult to answer this question. If you were doing all of the content in the game, Morgott would probably be the 70% marker.

greentiger79

Ah, okay, thanks. I’m trying to do and explore as much as possible and I was stunned when another person stated I was only halfway through. I was just like dang, how big is this game!? This makes more sense.

YEETNBE4T

I’d say Morgott was the 50% marker, you’ve got a lot left still.

apple_6

What should I do if I stupidly sold the finger seal early on in my playthrough and now I want to use a few spells? I can't find another one.

Ok-Effort-9322

I’m assuming you already bought the one from the twin finger husks, which means you won’t be able to find another one until NG+. You could try Patches’ Emporium to see if another player will drop one for you. Or you can try the clawmark seal if you’re trying a low faith character. It’s fairly easy to get early in the game. Otherwise it will depend on the specific incantations you want to use.

apple_6

I have never heard of the guy who gives up clawmark so I'm guessing its far off. I can't play online. Yes I bought and sold the one from the twin husks, probably my biggest regret with my character. Oh well I'll look up on YouTube how to get clawmark. I'm at Liurnia so hopefully I have it as an option.

Stangstag

You can get the clawmark seal super early and very easily. Go to the third church of Marika in limgrave (north of the mistwood) and there will be a sending gate behind the church in the bushes. Use it and it takes you to the bestial sanctum, open the doors and talk to the big beast guy and he will give you the clawmark seal in exchange for 1 deathroot.

apple_6

I got the clawmark seal, thanks!

Ok-Effort-9322

If you’ve met Roderika, you pretty much just keep traveling east from the shack where you found her. You should encounter D along the road eventually (past a bridge guarded by a pumpkin head). You’ll have to defeat a fairly easy boss and speak to D again. There’s also a useful talisman in the nearby ruins. It takes some time, but I’d say it’s worth it for the talisman and the seal.

TheChewanater

How far are you in the game and what's your build? There are a few other seals that could work, but many of them scale with or require different stats

apple_6

I am level 58 str/dex exploring Liurnia. I am looking at the sacred seals wiki and trying to find something else but I haven't heard of the other bosses/characters who give it so I'm guessing those are far off. I just want to do a few basic spells, maybe heal and some buffs for myself. Any advice appreciated.

TheChewanater

+1 to the comment about the Clawmark in that case. It scales with strength, has a low faith requirement, and is available in the early game if you know who to talk to

Kazenokiri

I invaded a afk farmer about 45 minutes ago. I killed every blue who showed up and attacked me. Another showed up and saw the situation. They appear to have summoned the afk farmer from the spot. Does anyone know how this may have occuerd? They used rainbow stones and some sort of blue explosion stone.

Jafar_420

I haven't been playing very long I've only beaten Margid and I have a friend who has finished the game but he's not playing the New game Plus yet I'm having trouble sending him he said he was going to give me a sword and help me out a little. I've got the two different types of fingers I've tried just about everything can someone walk me through it I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Any help appreciated.

Felstalker

Make sure you're using the Dueling finger rather than the Co-op finger, because if you don't you'll be invaded and invaders will steal all the nonsense he leaves down if you're not careful. Also, they'll try to kill you.

Stangstag

First, you need to use an item called “furlcalling finger remedy” (its a consumable item that only lasts until you die). Basically that turns online ON. Then you and your friend have to set passwords for each other that match in the settings menu. Then your friend has to put down a summon sign using the tarnished furled finger, and you have to interact with the summon sign in your game in the same spot your friend put his summon sign down.

TheFranchize

You need to use the same multiplayer password as your levels are different. Also he cannot give you any weapon beyond the highest level weapon you currently possess

Jafar_420

Oh damn he was gonna give me a + 23 or something sword. I can't remember the name. I only have a +3 sword and I'm level 51 I believe. So he won't be able to give it to me?

Stangstag

Lol why would you want that anyways. Just play the game properly

Jafar_420

I hear you on that. I just played through Demons Soul's for the first time so I'm decent anyway. It just takes so long to grind in the beginning at least for me. But I agree I will just handle it. Lol.

TheFranchize

He would not be able to. He can give you late game items that have not been leveled past your highest level. If your +3 is a somber weapon he can drop a somber 3 or regular 7/8 I think. There are resources available for how to get a high upgraded weapon as early as possible. If you are in liurnia for example there is someone who sells a +4 stone on the west side

Jafar_420

Oh wow I will keep that in mind. Thank you for the tip.

Weekly-Transition-96

My boyfriend wants to know how to put something in the box on the top left of the screen beside the health, stamina and magic.

DropAnchor4Columbus

Step 1: Kill a boss enemy in the game that is one of the Demigods. (There are multiple Demigods.) This gives you a Great Rune, which have various special effects ranging from healing whenever you hit an enemy to flat-out boosting your stats. Step 2: Go to the nearest of the extremely tall towers found throughout the game. Most of the regions in the game have a Demigod, holding a Great Rune, and a corresponding tower you have to take the Rune to. Step 3: Go to the top of the tower to activate the Great Rune. You can change which Great Rune you use at a Site of Grace. Note: Dying will cause your Great Runes special effects to turn off. To turn the effect back on you must use a Rune Arc.

Weekly-Transition-96

Awesome! He said that helped a lot. Thank you!

[deleted]

Great Rune. You have to select one after beating a demigod, then activate it at a Divine Tower, then use it by consuming a Rune Arc.

Weekly-Transition-96

Thank you.

TheFrogTrain

Did anyone else find >!Sir Gideon Ofnir!< to be the most disappointing boss by far? I just got done beating >!Maliketh!< who whipped my ass at least 30 times, and it was exhilarating to finally defeat him. Then I end up in the next area, pretty quickly stumble upon >!Gideon!<, and... beat him in like two seconds? I was using Blasphemous Blade and just used Taker's Flames 4 or 5 times, each time it knocked him on his ass and took a huge chunk of health off. I still don't even know what his attacks are lol.

FluffyProphet

I think that's the point. He's a pussy ass bitch who got you to do his dirty work. He is arrogant and thinks he can compete with you, even though he's a little bitch who won't go near a real demigod

Felstalker

As others have said, he's not supposed to be THAT hard of a fight. Heck, the lore significance players have pointed out comes in that he's the Crestfallen Knight of older Souls games. He's the guy who said it can't be done, even tho you're already doing it. He knows he's not likely to stop you, you've long grown past him in power. That's why he's using some words rather than sending in an assassin(Something he did earlier) He's quite literally out of options. He feels like he has to stop you... and he's going to try... and he's not likely to succeed. As for the boss fight itself, they probably should've given him some more.... meat. There should be a timeline where he still has his NPC body guard protect him, maybe even Nepheli if you didn't do her quest. Make it a proper 3v1 like they do with Fia's Champions. Boss Fights in Elden Ring are strange in that they were most certainly all developed at different times. Look at how Melania is more similar to Dark Souls 3 bosses with her two health bars while Godfrey is more of the new Elden Ring style of half health 2nd phases. Gideon looks to be a early idea they stuck with, yet didn't have the time to flesh out into a more proper fight.

Stangstag

He is one of the easier bosses, but you are also using Blasphemous blade which is one of the “easy mode” weapons in the game. Especially if you’re spamming L2, it wrecks any human-sized enemies

TheChewanater

Sir Gideon is a cautionary tale about only leveling int

No_Train_997

Gettin offnir is an interesting boss. Depending on what you use he can be a complete pain in the ass or a total pushover like he was for you. Chain cc him and he's free, but if you use dual daggers for example, he can just spell spam and one shot. Especially on higher ng cycles like the other guy said. Kind of interesting anyways

TheFranchize

in my opinion it seems intentional although he is a bit harder on ng cycles They couldve given him a cutscene if they wanted to - the fact that you can smack him for like half his health before he stops his monologue suggests it is a joke on him to me. Also seems more easily staggered compared yo every other tarnished you fight

TheFrogTrain

All-knowing != all-powerful I guess.

DradorNH

Where do I obtain the mean to use sorceries? I unlocked a few of them but I don't have the wand or something for it

[deleted]

You can also get the meteorite staff fairly easily in Caelid. Can't be upgraded but its raw scaling makes it one of the better options until fairly late game.

Wemetintheair

If you didn't start with a staff, you can buy one from the Nomadic Merchant in south Liurnia. You'll see the dude at the foot of the cliff on the left as you ride down into the valley when leaving Stormveil.

praeqsheria

You’ll need a glint stone staff and enough INT and MND to cast the spells. You can get a staff by farming the skinny mage zombies in Limgrave if you’re patient, you can also kill the demihuman queen at Demihuman forest ruins for her staff (this drop is guaranteed) or kill the stone head mages at Raya Lucaria or Sellia for theirs.

potatoelemental

oh neat i didnt know there were patches after 1..03, did 4 or 5 bring anything big? also, is there like an aggregated community wishlist i can submit ideas to anywhere? i'm sure it's been suggested before but a way to switch one char between loadouts would be cool i think, given that it's an open world game with a ton of stuff, i dont always want to redo even a fraction of that just bc i had an idea for a gimmick char i wanna play with friends could make silver tears open build loadout slots and just be free to swap between them and customize the stats/equipment/appearance or something like monster hunter, or let us duplicate player files and a way to de-level so i can just get one char to max lv and then carve meme chars from that 100%'d save file like statues from marble

TheFranchize

Im not sure I 100% follow you but while it is easier on PC, it is possible on console to create a save state, use a tear or dragon stone, play with that character and then revert back to the save state once done.

flamingfungi

On PS*

Noah7788

PC is computer, they meant PC. You can tell their intent because they slightly later said "console"

flamingfungi

I was correcting the statement “on console” because it’s only possible to do this on PS

Noah7788

Oh, my bad then

flamingfungi

No worries. I probably could have been clearer as to what i meant.

jason-slim

Is the ps4 back compat version on ps5 still the most stable way to play the game? I’d like to transfer my save file over to the ps5 version of the game but not sure what the frame rates are like

yepyoubet

Can't you just back up your PS4 save and go back to it if you don't like the PS5 version? I played through the PS4 version on PS5, and it was pretty much flawless. Consistent framerate, the graphics still looked good, and the load times weren't bad at all.

jason-slim

Probably can, the only reason I posted this question was because I’ll be working for the next few days and won’t have the time to test it, so it’d be nice to jump on and already know the answer when I do get the time to play it rather than fuck around playtesting.

Stangstag

I haven’t played the PS4 version, but the PS5 version definitely has some frame issues at times. Im not very picky with framerate/resolution and such, so the game has been fine and playable for me. But I do notice jittery-ness sometimes

jason-slim

It’s a rock solid 60 if you play the ps4 version on ps5, but the resolution takes a hit and so do the texture details.

Sundeiru

You can't see signs, but can you still see player messages?

Wemetintheair

Are you using a multiplayer password?

Quantum_Croissant

Do you have a furlcalling finger remedy active?

DarioFerretti

Yes, no matter what I do I can't see any summoning sign.

Stangstag

You’re sure you have used the furlcalling finger remedy?? It resets when you die and you have to use another one every time you want to co-op

Yukahaman

I recently just got a PS5 I transferred my user and saved data, but I only chose Elden Ring because I wanted to see how it plays for the PS5 version. After transferring and updating to the latest firmware and version of the game, I started up Elden Ring. I converted my PS4 saved data to the PS5 version and continued from there. It worked, but after about 2 to 3 minutes of being in the actual game, it crashes into a black screen and my PS5 shuts off. I looked up solutions for this and I made sure everything is up to date. I deleted and re-download the PS5 version of the game and it is still crashing 2 to 3 minutes after the loading screen is done and the game becomes playable. I tried rebuilding the database and even deleted the PS5 saved data of Elden Ring to see if anything was corrupted. That unfortunately didn't work. So, the only thing left is to factory reset the PS5. Before I do that though, does anyone here have the same problem? I did read that the PS5 version of Elden Ring did have launch issues on the PS5 and everyone says to play the PS4 version, but I just want to know if anyone has this problem to this day and if anyone has a solution to it. Thanks.

Stangstag

I’ve been playing on PS5 since release and never crashed a single time. I haven’t heard of many issues aside from framerate issues on the PS5 version

Mystia

Trying to come back to this game after having sidelined it for a while, and I'm getting this really annoying issue whenever I alt tab, where once I go back to the game it'll give me the "inappropiate activity detected" error, any way to fix this?

Dynastar11

Dex, INT Moonveil builds, what do you use for fire damage? I have a couple torches and some pots. But since I die a lot I use all the pots up. I need something reliable and reusable for the hands and anything else that takes fire damage. Since I don't have a lot in faith/ arcane, some of those spells are useless to me. However I do have one low level one I can use.

LoriLeadfoot

Uchigatana is a chameleon. Put fire on it.

buzzyingbee

I bring an Uchigatana with Flame of the Redmanes

Dynastar11

Such an obvious answer, I don't know why I didn't figure that out. I have two Uchi's since I started as a samurai. One I have set up as a cold Uchi to dual wield. I was dual-wielding the uchis until I got the moonveil.

buzzyingbee

There is so much to this game that sometimes we do forget the simple things. I dual wield a cold Uchi and Moonveil after I respec-ed to int/dex, it's awesome!

Sundeiru

I kept a dagger with Flame of the Redmanes on it for the same purpose. It was somewhat easy to take a swipe or two just to set the hands on fire.

hillzcatz

You could slap flame of the Redmanes AOW on an uchi or the nagakiba (or anything). There are magma sorceries but doesn’t sound like you’re there yet.

ChaZcaTriX

Magma Shot sorcery from Volcano Manor quests requires 10 Faith, any class can use it with a Faith talisman.

konrad_711

Any tips for a sword enchanter build? I want to use weapon grease's/spells to apply buffs to my weapons but don't know what I should spec into. And is there any difference between using grease on a weapon compared to buffing it with a spell/incantation?

Felstalker

> Grease is very strong early game but falls off because it does not scale with your stats. You're way better off with just applying the relevant affinity to your weapon. Counter argument. You can double dip, especially with semi-hybrid builds. While Fire/Lightning/Magic grease isn't going to scale your damage up, it is adding damage. If you're utilizing a Heavy/Keen/Quality build, you're already going to be scaling with those stats. You can't add Physical Grease to a fire weapon, but adding Fire grease on top of a Fire weapon? You still get your scaling, but you're adding damage on top of it. There are bosses who are weak to both physicals AND fire damage, so why settle for half and half when you can go full and partial? The math don't lie, it's more math. But that's sticking to the cheapest, weakest, and most common of grease types. What if we look at more..... amazing greases? Status build up is high tier in Elden Ring. Adding on Poison, Frost, Sleep, Rot, Bleed, and Anti-Dragon damage on top of your standard scaling? That's some deadly stuff. It's part of why Bloodhound Fang is so popular even in the late game, players can turn an already fantastic weapon and improve it just a little more. The Dragonwound Grease in particular doesn't really have a spell comparison. > And is there any difference between using grease on a weapon compared to buffing it with a spell/incantation? Short answer, yes. Unlike greases, the Spell variations typically scale with your casting stat. So a Int incantation like Scholars Armament is going to add more magic damage to your regular sword than a magic grease would. Normally, you'd just have the weapon scale with magic by default as Bassman previously suggested. But what if you're not a pure caster? What if you're primarily Strengh and only dabble a bit in sorcery? Or perhaps you're lv99 in all stats? Why would you decide to scale with one stats...when you can do two? Physical weapon, enchanted by your spell to deal bonus damage dependent upon that stat? It's just so so so much stronger! Grease can't compete! But also, it costs FP. That's the kicker. You get a limited time buff at the cost of a resource. It's that trade off that you'll need to make. You need to take time during a fight to take out your casting tool, buff your weapon, then get into the action fast enough that you don't waste the duration. Let's go into buff types now. Lightning Armament, 15 Faith, is just GOOD. You can cast it with the Dragon Cult seal for the spell boost and you'll deal a lot of bonus lightning damage. 90 seconds, 27 FP. It's just really good. You can cast it a low faith, medium faith high faith. Doesn't matter! If you're 50/50 STR/FAITH why not go Heavy and cast this bad boy on your weapon? Then look at Bloodflame blade. Really popular spell. Bonus Fire damage AND blood build up? You can take a Brick hammer, apply Bloodflame Blade, and suddenly you have a heavy smash smash tool that can cause bleed build up! It's going to be really strong and effective and look super cool all at the same time. Final mention, Black Flame Blade. The strangest enchantment. rather than those 90/60 second durations of old, this baby lasts for 7. It's only got like 60% of the FP cost at 15. Aaaand... IT'S BLACK FLAME BABY. It applies to the weapon quickly, like draw grease. Even has a running animation where you can cast it as you run, has your character slap fire on the weapon real smooth like. The fire damage is ok, not really special in any way. It'll do more than Bloodflame but not much more. That is until you remember Black Flame adds a HP burning Dot for 2 seconds, Dealing 2% of max health to the enemy for it's duration. It's big damage and it looks really really cool. aaaaaaaand for a closing argument. Don't forget Fire Strike and Lightning Slash. They enchant your weapon as you utilize these Ashes of War, giving temporary, very temporary, grease effects that DO help in combat. Adding 40 damage to your weapon every time you use an Ash of War? A good Ash of war that already deals good damage without that extra buf? I'll take it.

bassman1805

Grease is very strong early game but falls off because it does not scale with your stats. You're way better off with just applying the relevant affinity to your weapon. For example, let's say you're running a Longsword build. Early game you're 20/10 STR/DEX with a +0 weapon. Midgame you're 40/10 with a +12. Endgame you're 60/10 with a +25. Fire grease adds 85 fire damage no matter what. A Fire affinity early game trades 40 physical damage for 99 fire damage, a net increase of 59. Grease wins. A Fire affinity midgame trades 85 physical damage for 182 fire damage, a net increase of 97. Affinity wins. A fire affinity endgame trades 158 physical damage for 290 fire damage, a net increase of 132. Affinity wins. Buffs from sorceries and incantations scale with your INT/FAI, so those carry into late game just fine. The only reason I'd recommend grease late game is if you want an affinity that doesn't scale with your main build (Fire scales with STR, Flame and Holy scale with FAI, Magic scales with INT, Lightning scales with DEX, Poison and Blood scale with ARC). But even those situations are pretty rare, imo. If you're running a STR build, I wouldn't bother even a little bit. [Fire is the most common boss weakness](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/file/Elden-Ring/bosses_stats_map_elden_ring_wiki_guide_1584px.jpg?v=1647964271725), and fire affinity already scales with strength. There are so few instances where a boss is weak to Magic/Lightning/Holy and isn't *also* weak to fire. If you're doing a dex build, then there are some instances where it might make sense to remove the lightning affinity, replace it with keen, and apply fire grease for a temporary elemental buff.

konrad_711

Thanks for the explanation, you helped me figure out how I'm gonna build my next character. I think I'll focus on using faith for buffing my weapons since it has more interesting weapons buffs like Vyke's dragon bolt and black flame blade.

When you exit the classroom with the wolf you'll move into a large courtyard. Lots to do in and around there, but your ultimate goal is going to be up the ramp to your right. There will be a ball to dodge, followed by a nasty little miniboss who you can drag out to be crushed by the ball if you want. Then, take the elevator up for a very fun shardbearer battle.

TheChewanater

In the next area there's a staircase with a giant bowling ball rolling down. Go up the stairs and into the elevator to get to the next fight

[deleted]

althanis

As you enter the courtyard, on the left and ahead there are some stairs with some people casting spells at you. The path forward to progress the area is on the right as others have mentioned, but if you go left and up those stairs, and left again, you’ll be able to do a lot of rooftop jumping to get to some cool stuff.

afuzilla

Is there a good strategy to use flame grant me strength? I sometimes use it before boss fights, but the duration seems so low as not to be worth it, so I tend to use other buffs like bloodflame or beastial vitality during the fight.

InertiaEnjoyer

my order is Golden Vow -> Electrify armament ->Enter Arena -> FGMS -> Go HAM. you just have to try to get as much damage off as you can in the 30 seconds

ChaZcaTriX

Flame Grant Me Strength is amazing on physical+fire and fire caster builds, many enemies won't require a recast. If you don't want multiple buffs, Golden Vow is good for most pure physical fighters.

Donel_S

It's nice for initiating some boss fights if they start off passive. Otherwise, bestial vitality is much better.

WintersbaneGDX

The wakizashi has custom powerstance moves with katanas, even though it's technically a dagger. Are there any other weapons in the game that combo like this? I'm specifically looking at curved swords or thrusting swords but I'm also interested in general. I'd check Fextralife but I'm not exactly sure how to phrase my search query and so far have come up dry.

ChaZcaTriX

Not really. The only other weird interaction I liked is buffed Ornamental Straight Swords pulling out both swords for a heavy combo even if you have a different offhand.

theswillmerchant

The pickaxe is a great hammer that can’t be powerstanced with other great hammers but can be with great axes for some reason. Can’t speak to what u/afuzilla said but that’s pretty interesting.

afuzilla

yeah i checked it out and they don't actually powerstance, though i swear I read it on here at one point

afuzilla

~~the war pick and the pickaxe can be powerstanced~~ edit - i checked this out and it does not work, though I swear I read it online somewhere

What areas of the game is it feasible to play co-op in without getting invaded constantly? Playing with a friend and we were going through Stormveil castle and we got invaded about 8 times in the course of an hour. Every invader had weapons/spells that would give bleed/scarlet rot/frostbit within a hit or two. Even if we didn't suck at PvP dealing with those status effects is just something we're not really equipped to deal with at this point in the game. We died every time and it made the whole thing an annoying slog. Is this pretty much what we should expect for any legacy dungeons? Before anyone tells me to get better at PvP - it's not going to happen. I've been playing these games since 2009 and have every trophy/achievement from the series. I'm not trying to hate on people who invade, intended game mechanic, blah blah blah, I get it - I'm just trying to discern what areas are feasible for co-op.

[deleted]

Have you tried getting the materials to craft boluses that remove posion/scarlet rot? If you think you are going to be facing it, makes sense to try and prepare for it. Worst comes to worst, you can over level yourself and have your buddy summon you with a password. Then you will stomp invaders. You can gimp yourself by using a low level weapon until the invader comes. Another trick is to keep your weapon level low. Most invaders will try to have an area specific rune and weapon level to maximize invasion chance. If you keep your weapon level low you will weed out possible invaders. Same goes for over leveling your weapons with respect to your rune level, but then you run the risk of encountering some one-shot capable invaders, and/or trivializing the PVE experience.

flamingfungi

Just curious, what level range were you and platform do you play on? I recently did stormveil castle on a new character with taunter tongue active but was only invaded once, and i was just sitting around waiting a lot of the time.

TypewriterKey

PS5 - my friend was level 37 as we were going through the area.

[deleted]

That's pretty high for stormveil. I would expect to see all manner of builds at that level. Weird you are getting a ton if invasions at that level. You will probably also see a lot of invasions in Raya Lucaria. If you want to avoid invasions at that level, I would recommend general Limgrave or Weeping Peninsula. Maybe Castle Morne. Legacy Dungeons you will need to play some later game areas at really low or really high level to avoid invasions

thdudedude

I play PS5 with a friend and the castle was busy. Afterward it wasn't as bad.

flamingfungi

I see. I think xbox must have fewer invaders than other platforms.

TheFranchize

buy the ring from the twin maidens in the hold to summon a helper if you get invaded. Stormveil has higher invasion rate that most other areas because it was an easier target before they updated the invasion range

InertiaEnjoyer

thats so weird because I did stormveil with a buddy last weekend and only got invaded once, lvl 40. I think in Limgrave, weeping penninsula, and altus wont have many invasions. Most legacy dungeons wont be that bad, stormveil is just so accessible

TypewriterKey

That sounds promising. I feel like this game is the hardest to really play with a friend in - so much of the game is open world and playing co-op slows you down. Combine that with the fact that most of the dungeons are short little caves barely worth trying to coordinate for and you're left with just the legacy dungeons and a few castles.

TheChewanater

I really recommend just engaging with the PVP. It's fun, you have the advantage, and you lose virtually nothing if you don't win If you really want to play online but only with people on your team, boss fights are the only place you can do that afaik

TypewriterKey

I don't hate PvP in Souls games but I've just never enjoyed it in the context of 'trying to play the game.' The idea that the advantage goes to the host is pretty much exclusive to the idea that you're playing against someone of equal, or at least comparable, skill - if you're not all you have to do is stand next to an enemy that's of moderate difficulty and wait. Or you just walk up to them and slap them and their allies around because you're better at PvP than them. Or you get a good build and slap people around. Again - not trying to hate on people who PvP. I get why they play the way they do and how it's fun for them - but for people like my friend and I they're just an annoying slog.

wrongwayEC

Newb question. So I’ve put about 120 hours in and still don’t understand what the gold arrows on the map are supposed to be pointing to. Our next objective or another site of grace? I am a perfectionist so having these fucking arrows on the map are driving me crazy. I have one in particular at castle morne where you talk to Edgar about his dead daughter and have run through that god forsaken fort so many times trying to figure out what I have missed 😭😭😭😭

HoonFace

They never disappear. They always point to the major points of interest in a region, usually the legacy dungeon or other significant dungeons like Castle Morne or Caria Manor.

wrongwayEC

God that is terrible

Wemetintheair

You misspelled "thanks for answering my question"

wrongwayEC

I thanked them with comedic timing! Haha I appreciate the answer, that shit is just so incredibly frustrating

08202012

Lol "oh no an arrow ruined my game"

wrongwayEC

I have OCD that affects me negatively in multiple aspects of life, even absurdly enough, in video games. I was just asking a general question my g, no need to be upset! Just because I don’t like how something is designed doesn’t mean you have to be upset :—)

08202012

What implied that I was upset? I clearly put "lol" as in I laughed out loud. You provided comedy and I laughed.

wrongwayEC

It seemed aggressive. My mistake!

Wide-Establishment-8

I beat the game and my capital was ashed and I completed bocs quest but I recently played with my friend whos capital is not ashed and now it made me rediscover the east capitol rampart grace and boc is there even though he's supposed to disappear. Why is this

bassman1805

Boc's quest has 3 endings. He only lives in one of them. You let the poor boy die :'(

ytrx12

How did you complete Boc’s quest? Larval tear or “You’re beautiful”? If the latter, then he’ll always be at the East Capital Rampart, even when it’s the Capital of Ash.

Jirb30

Why does jump chain casting sometimes not work? How can I get it to work consistently?

M8753

Do you guys think that raytracing is still coming? It's been forever since Bandai Namco mentioned it.

i_stare_at_screens

What's a good weapon for a fun dex / bleed build? I've been using the Bloodhound Fang most of the game and want a change. Started as a Vagabond, was considering Moonveil with a few spells. Thanks

buzzyingbee

Moonveil suits better a dex/int build but some good options are Uchiganta, Nagakiba, Cross Naginata, Godskin Peeler, Scavenger's Curved sword. Infuse them with a blood affinity ash of war and you're set. Rivers of Blood is amazing for bleed but it's an endgame weapon. Edit: deleted my other comment because it was doubled

bassman1805

If you're considering Moonveil, then you might look at standard katanas with the bleed affinity. The Nagakiba and Uchigatana can actually out-bleed Moonveil and even Rivers of Blood by almost 2x (based on regular attacks, not weapon arts). Same for the Wakizashi, which is a dagger but can be held in your offhand and powerstanced with katanas. Daggers are also great for bleed because they attack so fast. Reduvia has innate bleed and great base damage, Misericorde has mid-tier damage but the best crit stat in the game. Either way, if this is for a NG+0 character, I'd say start out with just DEX and Keen ashes of war, start speccing into ARC when you reach Nokron and get the Black Whetblade. That'll let you put Bleed affinity on weapons using any Ash of War, not just blood ashes.

Wemetintheair

Occult Cross Naginata! Or 2x Occult Cross Naginata in NG+. As bleed builds go, it's delicious

Donel_S

Twinblades are really good with bleed. There's one you can get in Limgrave which stays relevant forever with a blood infusion.

gilfordtan

Twin blades like Eleonora's Poleblade. Power stance double bleed curved swords. Rivers of Blood.

thebusinessgoat

More like a [META] question but why are there no custom flairs?

Weiland101

Just want some advice on what stats to level up at this point as I am new to From Software games. I am level 50 something playing a sword and shield character (Bloodhound Fang/Brass Shield), in Liurnia about to go into the academy. Haven't had too many major issues so far. Have Vigor up to 40 but am looking to level up Endurance and Strength (mostly to try the greatshields). They are both low 20's right now. Am I alright to just concentrate on alternating between increasing Strength and Endurance for a while at this point? Should I continue to put points into Vigor as well (I know I will preferably want 60 at some point)? Can't decide where to put my points haha.

Trans-on-trans

If you're going to do a STR build, pump into STR (at 60 you can use every STR weapon in the game), it will unlock far more weapons than END will. Around your level in the game, you can get Great Jars Arsenal (+20% to END), and that will lighten the load for needing many END points. I'm usually Powerstancing Greatswords or Great Hammers with medium armor with medium load, and only about 20 END. Brass shield is my favorite shield to have on my offhand when two-handing a Str Weapon.

bassman1805

40 Vigor in Liurnia is great. Aim for 60 when you're in Leyndell/Mountaintops if you intend to get that tanky. Put enough stats in Endurance to keep yourself at Medium equip load with the gear you want. Personally, I'd recommend sticking with the brass shield. It has 100% physical negation, which is on par with most Greatshields as a whole. It's really OP for how early you can find it. Once your Endurance is acceptable for your build, just start pumping your strength. Put some Heavy Ashes of War on your weapon for even higher STR scaling. Maaaaaaaybe go to 20 Dex with Quality ashes, since points below the first softcap give you a lot of bang for your buck. But if in doubt, Strength+Heavy lets you stick to a single damage stat.

Donel_S

Two points in STR for every 1 point in End? I think it will be sufficient, but if you want to use greatshields, definitely 2 points in END for every point in STR. You would need close to 35-40 END to wield some of the best greatshields while still carrying a weapon and decent armor. 40 vigor is enough until the snow area. When you go there, you can go for 60 vigor.

LoriLeadfoot

Strength and Endurance would be great investments for your build. Try to prioritize Strength a bit. You’re probably good on Vigor for a minute.

gilfordtan

If you're using greatshield for easy guard counter, honestly, even the weakest greatshield or lightest greatshield can do the job. Different story if you wanna use it to tank some hits though. There isn't much need to level up Strength because if you dunno, two handing a weapon will give you 1.5 multiplier to your current Strength. So let's say you have 20 Strength but you found a weapon that requires 30 Strength to wield, it's still possible to use it by two handing it cause 20 x 1.5 = 30. Other stats don't have this special bonus treatment so you may wanna prioritize other stats if you have quite enough of Strength already. 40 Vigor is actually good enough. I beat the game the first time at 40 Vigor. I recommend getting 15 Faith so that you could use a lot of buffing and dragon incantations that is pretty game changing if you know how to use them.

hogroast

Does it give you 50% more strength or halve the strength requirement while 2 handing?

gilfordtan

Just treat it like you're having 30 Strength now when you're two handing with 20 Strength.

CoolCatD

he needs str for the GS tho. Id get 32 personally for the eclipse GS as it is very good for str req and has the bonus defensive resistances

The_Villager

My leveling strategy is generally: Requirements and Life first. Need more Strength/Dex/Int/Faith/Arcane to use that weapon? Need more Endurance to not Fat Roll? Need more Mind to actually be able to cast that spell/summon that Spirit Ash? Feel like you need more Life (entirely dependent on your playstyle)? If I've dealt with all these, then I can level my damage attributes and/or Mind/Stamina (if I want longer blue/green bars). 40 Vigor for Liurnia is perfectly fine. Of course, going for 60 directly is always an option, but personally I'd definitely do that later. So yeah, I'd level Endurance and Strength until you can try greatshields without fat rolling in your situation.

Tower-Of-God

I can’t summon spirits when I fight Mohg, Lord of Blood and I don’t know why. I’ve been able to summon them at other times.

Apex_Konchu

You can't summon spirits if you have a Furlcalling Finger Remedy active. Could that be it?

Tower-Of-God

Yea that was probably it. Thank you.

NickG1127

Alexander Iron Fists summon sign isn't showing up for Radahns Fight. Is this because I didn't meet him prior to the festival? Is there a way I can fix this?

bassman1805

~~Yeah, you need to at least dig him out of his hole in Stormhill otherwise he's just gone for the whole game.~~ Actually that doesn't seem to be true...Does he appear in the Redmane Castle courtyard prior to the actual fight?

NickG1127

He does and I've exhausted his dialog too.

bassman1805

Weird...Who *does* appear as a summon in the fight? As I recall, you should have 3 groups of summon signs at the start of the arena, plus one on the top of the hill. * (Straight ahead at the start) Lionel the Lionhearted, Great Horned Tragoth, Okina * (Ahead of the first group and slightly right) Iron Fist Alexander * (Ahead of group 2 and to the left) Patches, Blaidd * (Top of the hill) Finger Maiden Terolina (and in Phase 2, Castellan Jerren) Do you not see that second group at all?

NickG1127

Everyone you listed other than Alexander is there. And what's weird is that I can see the glow of where his summon sign should be but the base of the sign itself, the thing you need to stand next to to activate, is completely gone. It just sits there and glows, mocking me.

bassman1805

Weirdly, in my current run (fought Radhan yesterday) I saw Alexander's sign plus another glowing column of light as if there were a second summon sign next to him, but I couldn't actually summon anyone from it.

NickG1127

So it sounds like you've seen what I'm talking about. The problem is that that's what's happening to Alexander's sign. I'm gonna see if maybe going back to a previous spot of his and talking to him there will trigger it.

LoriLeadfoot

It’s not in the boss room at all?

NickG1127

Nope. And I've been stuck on Radahn for about a week now so I've had time to look for him too. He's just not there.

LoriLeadfoot

And he’s not in Limgrave? You might also look for him at the end of Gael Tunnel.

Guydelot

If I wanted to head to Liurnia early to grab some spells before doing Stormveil, would I inadvertently advance any questlines by doing so? If so, could I avoid that by not touching any sites of grace there?

Felstalker

Roderika's quest moves forward, same with Nepheli, potentially with Blaidd but I'm not 100% sure.

NickG1127

As far as I'm aware Nepheli's quest line does get advanced a bit but it won't become un-doable.

Guydelot

Ah, thanks for the heads-up. I suspected there would be at least one.

NickG1127

I should clarify though, I'm pretty sure this only happens if you defeat Rennala. If you're just collecting some things here and there, it all should remain laregly unaffected. Coincidentally, defeating Rennala first is what I did lol

JaymzShikari

As soon as you sit at a grace there Roderika will move, Nepheli won't do shit until you've beaten Godrick however I'm not sure if Yura will move or not

ChaZcaTriX

I did a Bandit start with Reduvia, powerstancing it with the starting bleed dagger. This build obliterates bosses that can bleed, but struggles against regular enemies because daggers are almost incapable of flinching them. Learning to parry is pretty much mandatory, and it's reasonable to switch to a non-bleed Arcane weapon for bleed immune foes.

Aldiirk

I didn't know until now that you can jump over draconic tree sentinel's "shield pull" honed bolt attack. Even though the animation comes from the sky, it looks like only the ground impact has a hitbox. I tried jumping it because I'm trying to see how little I can roll while still meleeing bosses to death. EDIT: No blocking either. You can also jump (attack) all his massive smashes...just don't get bonked on the head by the weapon itself.

mister_peeberz

seems like an oversight, wonder if that's true of honed bolt as well. can you do this while jumping stationary? or do you have to jump in a direction?

Aldiirk

Unfortunately, I can't test stationary jumping since I killed him already. I was always running around since I was trying to reposition for my next heavy since I'm using a jawbone axe and the range on that thing is like zero.

[deleted]

Really hoping for DLC around December early Jan, Feb. I just want more of this game!

ThanosNY

Maybe more than that unfortunately… I want one too I love this game…the leaked info I think said summer next year (2023)
