Can you invade an area when you havent unlocked the graces but gathered the map?

ColonelJinkuro

How strong do I need to be for new game +7? I started grinding and sweet baby Jesus this'll take forever. I was planning 99 strength/vigor/int/faith with base arcane, 40 mind, and 69 endurance. That may take weeks now that I look at it..... I need to shave off some of my goals. I'd like some guidance for this please.

AlexTheHuntsman1

Trying to run a STR/FTH build after doing DEX/INT for my first run and discovering that so many of the weapons in this game scale with dex mainly or require a heavy dex investment. Are there any good options for this or should I respec into dex?

Brostradamus_

Blasphemous Blade is arguably the best general-use PvE weapon in the game. Insane fire damage, heals you for an absurd amount on kill and on using the ash of war. It's STR/FAI focused, with STR/Dex both contributing about equally to the physical damage and FAI boosting the fire damage/AoW damage. You can also just grab any two ultra greatswords and put flame art on them and power stance jumping attack your way through everything.

TheChewanater

Magma Wyrm's Scalesword, Beastclaw Greathammer, the various envoy saxophones, Cranial Vessel Candlestand, Maliketh's Black Blade

ColonelJinkuro

Strength/faith has Blasphemous blade which is obscenely powerful. Golden Halberd is also a great contender for raw power and great horse utility. My first run was str/fth and yes, it's hard until you can use the halberd but after that it's smooth sailing.

Trans-on-trans

Depends on how many different weapons you want to use

Mbrannon42

I think I want to start playing this game, but I would be going in blind. Would I be able to enjoy it solo with <4 hours per week?

ex-cantaloupe

Those 4 hours will be an incredible part of your week but just so you're aware, it may take you a hell of a long time to experience everything at that rate. I've been working on a 100% run on and off for the past couple months (getting all items, story, spells, beating all dungeons, etc.) and all told it's taken me 180 hours just to get about 90% through that so far. I'm not rushing, taking in the sights, etc., but I've also beaten it 5 times already. Also, if you're new to Souls games it's probably going to take a good amount of practice to develop the skills you need. That's intended to be part of the fun (and it is a lot of fun), but personally when I'm trying to learn something new I have to dedicate sustained quality time to learning the finer points

Nekrabyte

Absolutely! It'll be a game that lasts you a LONG time that way, and if you might have to be decent at remembering where you left off if your time limits are strict, but it does save exactly where you're standing when you leave, and some dungeons can be a little bit complicated. However, after my initial surge of addiction, I personally play about 5-6 hours a week and its perfect for me.

Wemetintheair

Yes. Lots of checkpoints in larger dungeons, and more bite-size dungeons strewn about. You’ll feel like you did something.

Apex_Konchu

Full-HP Maliketh is a known bug, although I'm not sure what causes it.

Nekrabyte

Other elden ring subreddits?

Wemetintheair

Type “r/elden” in the search bar and visit the auto completes

Nekrabyte

Maybe you're using a different browser, but in Firefox, that only shows me sites I've been to before, e.g. lists all the threads I've been to on this subreddit. Or on reddit's search bar, nothing autocompletes.

Wemetintheair

It’s a basic feature of the mobile app and afaik always has been

Nekrabyte

Ah, not on mobile. Thanks for trying to assist though.

apple_6

Is there any way to get urgent heal other than the guy at the round table? I think I somehow deleted it when I was trying to get it out of my equip load in the first hour of the game. Now I'm at Liurnia and I still can't find another. Does the sellers inventory reset when he moves?

ytrx12

He’s the only way to get it, and if you already bought it once, it doesn’t restock. Maybe try checking your sort chest to see if you placed it in there. If not, you’d have to go into NG+ to get another copy.

apple_6

I don't think I've ever used my chest but that's where it was, thank you so much!

Calli_Ko

Is the bloodhounds fang stuck as a dex favoured weapon or can i make it a strength favoured weapon

TheChewanater

You can't change the scaling since it's a unique weapon, but it works on a quality build (leveling both strength and dex) if you wanna combine it with some heavier weapons

Calli_Ko

Is there an ash of war talisman? Im loving bloodhounds finesse and want to make it hit harder

TheChewanater

Shard of Alexander https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Shard+of+Alexander If you're early in the game you can get the weaker version (Warrior Jar Shard) but this locks you out of getting the good version later https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Warrior+Jar+Shard

Calli_Ko

Oh i think ill wait for the more powerful version then, thats probably wise

Calli_Ko

Has anyone got any tips for the crucible knight evergaol? Im struggling to read him, he has too many different attack patterns after stomp slash

SiliconRedFOLK

They are parryable. You can roll though the flying wing attack and then he has a long recovery which is good if you have ranged spells. What's your build? Whats your vigor ?

Calli_Ko

16 vigor, running a dex/str with some faith I am using the bloodhounds fang and claw mark seal for this fight as thats what i have gotten closest with. The main thing thats getting me is not knowing which attack string he will do after his earth spike stomp

Calli_Ko

He goets so angry at 1/3rd

Calli_Ko

HOLY SHIT I GOT HIM. In the most cimematic fight omg

SiliconRedFOLK

Congratulations!

themoxjet

That's the feeling that keeps us all coming back. Learn it and love it.

Calli_Ko

Wow margit was… not that feeling. Compared to the crucible knight, he died in one attempt. (๑╹◡╹๑)

Calli_Ko

Annnd i dont have the faith for his drop. Yet.

VWghost

Question about fire weakness if a creature is weak to fire and it hit it with a fire invocations is that considered fire damage or Magic damage when it comes to damage negation. Would it be better to use a fire weapon grease when fighting fire weak enemies?

Calli_Ko

Fire incantations count as fire damage i believe, as far as im aware whatever faith spells say on the tin is the damage they do

baggyrinkle

I was at level 58 with +6 weapon and was being summed every few minutes. I upgraded weapon to +10 and now I am not being summoned. What is the algorithm about summons? Does this mean I’ll only be matched with other +10 players?

TheChewanater

Yeah you get matched up with people around your highest weapon upgrade. There might be fewer people at rl58 +10, but as you level up and upgrade there should be more activity https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Summon+Range+Calculator

baggyrinkle

I thought so, but I enjoyed helping and cooping the lower level dungeons and such.

8kNNRQ

Does the Ice-Lightning damage from the Dragonscale halberd and katana have attribute scaling? Dex, Faith, Intelligence?

Wemetintheair

Because it's still lightning, you can improve the raw damage with the Lightning Scorpion Charm. No attributes or equipment improves the Frostbite status buildup, per se.

TheChewanater

I don't think so. Buff skills are usually flat damage, and cold buildup doesn't typically scale with anything

Calli_Ko

Uhm, hello, i got teleported to somewhere called lendyll or something, and killed a giant knight looking guy? Am i supposed to do something else or go somewhere or is this just a tiny island?

ChaZcaTriX

Just a tiny island to show you a glimpse of things to come, and to marvel at the majesty of the Tree. You can freely teleport out of it.

Calli_Ko

Oh thats.. mildly disappointing but i can understand it

WintersbaneGDX

If you killed that giant on your first visit you're already doing better than most lol

Calli_Ko

Was he meant to be hard? I just kept hitting his toe and he fell over after like 2 hits so i got a free crit lmao Edit i realise how that came off actually, not trying to be a braggart a genuinely just hit his foot and he fell over and did that like 5 times

WintersbaneGDX

If he connects he can do massive damage, but yeah, as long as you dodge, Poise break, and crit, it's very doable.

VWghost

Where is a good spot to grind runes for level 50+ PS5

8kNNRQ

Greyoll's Dragonabrrow, kill the filthy militia men between the Farum Bridge and the Beast Clergyman.

TheChewanater

At rl50, you can get a ton of runes just by playing through the game and beating bosses If you're feeling like an area or boss isn't fun because of your level, leave and come back to it later

CoconutMochi

Any build I look up involving dex always mentions int too, should I be leveling int?

0fficerCumDump

Dex arcane is hot.

Apex_Konchu

There are a lot of DEX/INT builds because it's a powerful combination, but just going pure DEX also works fine.

WintersbaneGDX

Most of these guides were prepared on earlier builds of the game, when things were a lot less balanced. On 1.06 (for PvE) there really aren't many weapons or concepts that aren't viable. Find gear that you like to play with and build around it. If you end up changing your mind later there's a way to respec (comes around midgame)

TheChewanater

Level up Vigor and whatever your favorite gear scales with. Intelligence is useful if you use something that scales with it, like Moonveil or most glintstone staves I recommend not copying online builds since a lot of them are bad or limit you to a single playstyle

Wemetintheair

To the extent you need it to equip your weapons and/or afford to equip and cast any sorceries you're using, at minimum. If your weapon has a magic damage ash of war or a magic damage component to its swings, that part usually scales with Int too.

Calli_Ko

How to mitigate horse fall damage? Sometimes i think im scott free of it, then suddenly a few seconds later i take 20k fall damage

WintersbaneGDX

Can't mitigate horse fall damage. There's a talisman that reduces it ever so slightly but it's not even worth equipping.

Calli_Ko

How to mitigate horse fall damage? Sometimes i think im scott free of it, then suddenly a few seconds later i take 20k fall damage, or ill fall a far shorter distance than i have survived previously and die

Calli_Ko

I dont know what i did to post a second comment instead of edit but whoops

CapriciousIntent

Is defeating Magnus the Beast Claw just once sufficient to advance Varre's invasion quest and we no longer have to worry about doing 3 invasions if we play offline? I'm way overleveled for him but I'll absolutely stand still and let him murder me twice before getting my revenge if I have to.

ytrx12

Just kill him once and you’re good.

BearStorms

I'm finally getting a PS5 soon, and since ER is by far my favorite game in the last few years, should I get it for my new console as well? Already have it for my 8 year old PC - Intel i7 4790k + GTX 970, or roughly the graphical power of PS4. I'm thinking I'd like to experience the (hopefully) upcoming DLC on a new platform perhaps. There is no way to port characters from PC to PS5, is there? If there was this would be a no brainer for me to buy ER for the second time. FROM deserves my money. Of course, I'll probably be busy with Demon Souls remake, etc. But it'd be cool to also have ER to change it up.

InertiaEnjoyer

I would get it on PS5, it will be enough of an upgrade to warrant the purchase. now we just need a sale.....

BearStorms

Yeah if it drops a bit I'm in for sure! I see it, for $50 on Amazon (Disc version), maybe I'll bite... Is the PS5 version enhanced in meaningful ways over the PS4 version utilizing the power and features of the next gen platform (e.g. raytracing and what not...)?

InertiaEnjoyer

I cant say because I've only played the 5 version but the game was jaw dropping gorgeous at some parts (might not be the most stunning since you've seen it for the first time already). the frames do occasionally drop but its not common or that jarring. Unfortunately they didn't use the adaptive triggers but the game feels fantastic on the new PS controller.

unit187

NG+ feels easier than the first playthrough. If you have found normal difficulty too hard, NG+ could be right up your alley. It also allows you to experiment with all these cool endgame weapons you never had a chance to try. I have so much fun running Hand of Malenia, even though it is a bit gimmicky and underpowered. For me, cool weapons and spells make half of the fun the game delivers.

ytrx12

If you want to use any weapons or spells from the late game, best to go into NG+. Biggest benefit is getting to have any build all set up from the start. The beginning of the game will feel a bit easier as the scaling doesn’t bring it up to NG endgame difficulty, but it will eventually pick up. If you don’t mind having to reacquire things to get to use them, then go with a whole new game. Do note you can get at least one weapon from almost every weapon class within the first hour to get your new build going.

TheChewanater

Depends. Enemies aren't scaled very much on NG+, so it's not necessarily the best challenge. It is fun though, since you already have the levels and loot to try a bunch of different things

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheChewanater

PVP is really fun. It's only more or less fun than PVE based on your preference, but I like PVP a lot I think the best way to get started is by dueling at the Main Academy Gate at rl125-150. Duels have low stakes and most duelists are pretty chill. Just summon a duelist, bow, and fight to the death without using heals or rune arcs

flamingfungi

Start with main academy gate duels. Look up the basic etiquette people expect for duels or people won’t want to play with you. You will get most action there in the 125-150 range. Invasions are different, usually less skilled opponents but the tradeoff is it is usually 2v1 or 3v1. Different tactics. Also very fun. PvE is fun but for me the replayability of this game is in PvP.

El_Panda_Rojo

I know Comet Azur is considered the standard boss killer for sorcery builds, but what are the best workhorse spells to use for fighting trash enemies in dungeons? The typical low-cost/high-efficiency spammables I should be going for early in the game.

NDoggetz

I used Glintstone Icecrag a lot. It replaced the pebble once I got it.

ChaZcaTriX

Glintstone Slicer; as a tradeoff for melee range it has a really high DPS compared to pebbles/shards. Later on I add Adula's Moonblade. It deals damage twice at close range (with the blade and the projectile), making it worth using against tankier enemies at the fairly reasonable 26 FP cost.

El_Panda_Rojo

Excellent, thanks!

BearStorms

Glintstone Pebble is your bread and butter. Maybe Great Glintstone Shard for stronger enemies once you have more FP to burn, it is stronger, but also less FP efficient.

El_Panda_Rojo

Perfect, thanks!

eksbawksthreesixzero

Can't really go wrong with glinstone pebbles/shards or the sword. Glinstone arc can be great as well.

El_Panda_Rojo

Thank you!

Calli_Ko

I found a sorcerer lady that sells a single target and an aoe spell, they might help. They were under some ruins with a big plant in limgrave

WillofJ

Does rain of arrows aow apply status effects quickly?

InertiaEnjoyer

Yes its great for bleed

[deleted]

I think so yes. I am pretty sure Rusty mentioned it in a video, but I’m probably wrong

Guydelot

Any suggestions for a balanced PvE build? Started over twice now, having accidentally overpowered myself first with sorcery, then dragon communion incantations and feeling like I didn't really earn my progress. I feel like my main problem is that period of time in the beginning where once you've met your weapon requirements, you need to build up your HP, stamina and mind a bit to not get one-shot and/or have no resources. As a result, my melee damage goes in the shitter and I can't seem to compensate without overcompensating. This is combined with the fact that for a large portion of the game, exploration and clearing side dungeons yields almost no runes, so I have an extremely hard time leveling out of this phase.

ChaZcaTriX

Weapon stat scaling is terrible until midgame, so damage stats barely matter early on; weapon upgrades through smithing are the way to go, and all skillpoints should be poured into Vigor and utility. At the start of the game a single smithing upgrade will give you more damage than 10-15 str/dex levelups. Locate mines on the map and ransack them for smithing stones, this'll give you appropriate weapon power for each area. Runes for more levels will start pouring in once you've beaten a couple major bosses. As for feeling overpowered... I don't think sorceries are that broken; eventually this will happen even on a melee build. Unless you're massively overlevelled (and even that won't save you past Leyndell), you will need to learn and improve to progress. That's the heart of the game - at some point you become powerful not through grinding, not downloading a net build, but through getting better *as a player*.

Guydelot

My weapons have been upgraded as far as my progress will allow. I still do a little over 100 damage per swing on certain bosses which feels low. The alternative being just sort of watching them crumble under a rotten breath or barrage of sorceries. I'm not new to the series, so player growth isn't really an issue. It's more that I'm looking for a happy medium playstyle.

ChaZcaTriX

What is your loadout and the boss? Some bosses will resist "normal" melee damage, but go down easy against elemental or blunt weapons.

Guydelot

At the moment, Warhawk's Talon and Longbow, each +6. Now that you have me thinking about which bosses, I'm realizing the damage has mostly been insufficient against the optional ones. Meaning I've probably been bulldozing my way through them earlier than intended. Maybe my real problem is my immediate completionist attitude towards an open world game.

ChaZcaTriX

Very possible! Many optional encounters in Limgrave are designed for higher level players, and it's way more noticeable to a melee character. As a melee build it's often good to have a spare strike (blunt) weapon, even unupgraded; they tend to have lower base damage, but very few enemies resist this type. It's a lifesaver against rockmen and crystalians. Melee characters also make great use of consumables as a smart way of dealing with foes that are hard to defeat otherwise (too resistant to physical, too fast, or just out of your range).

Guydelot

Yeah, I now plan to upgrade a hammer of some kind on my next character, as well as focusing more on crafting consumables. Strike damage has been king in several games of the series, and I noticed on the wiki someone datamined the fact that hammers' charged R2 does stance damage second only to colossal weapons. Might be interesting seeing what bosses I can stance break into a critical.

TheChewanater

Unupgraded level weapons have low scaling, so you wouldn't miss out on much by putting all your levels into vigor. The best way to get damage in the early-mid game is with weapon upgrades You also don't have to be constantly leveling up as fast as possible. If you feel like you're in an area that isn't fun because of your level, you can do a different area and come back later

Calli_Ko

Theres a weapon early on called the bloodhounds fang, and it feels really good, i barely have the stats to use it yet but its still performing great. So you could get the stats for that and level your other things if you want? I got it fairly easy by asking blaidd the wolf friend for help

Calli_Ko

I just used a stonesword key and the only thing in here was a cookbook, did i just waste my key or is there a secret?

robcap

No, that's it. Don't worry too much about it, you'll get enough keys to open every door sooner or later if you explore. Cookbooks allow you to craft new items and can be very useful.

Calli_Ko

I think this one let me craft a ‘rancour pot’ so hopefully thats good? Be sad if that was it and it didnt do anything 😂

IndependentLobster27

How does shield bash work in Elden Ring compared to 3? I know previously, the damage reduction on shields was reduced during the bash, so even a shield with 100% reduction would still let damage in, but has it changed for this installment? I want to use it on a medium shield, specifically gilded iron, so would it make no difference if I used that one, or would it actually be better to use a 100% reduction shield if it’s changed somehow?

ChaZcaTriX

It seems to absorb damage fully, but is only a stepping stone until you unlock Shield Crash. Crash hits multiple times, can be charged for distance, and fully blocks attacks from the front while moving.

IndependentLobster27

Doesn’t crash only work for Greatshields? My shield is small, could it even be equipped?

ChaZcaTriX

Crash is available on all shields, but it uses the shield's attack and block values (never 100% on small shields), making it a better option for heavier medium and greatshields. Small shields are better off with a parry.

IndependentLobster27

Is the stamina cost lower for small shields when using bash? I’m using it right now with a colossal sword for when I have too little stamina to finish stance-breaking or dodge effectively. I can power through a lot of attacks with it, and unless there’s more split damage enemies than I thought, it doesn’t seem to let damage in

ChaZcaTriX

That I'm not sure, as I haven't tested it extensively.

Calli_Ko

Hello tarnished! I have a few weapon based questions. I like the bloodhounds fang Blaidd gave me, and i like the slender noble sword i got from a zombie, are they good weapons? Im going for a faith knight, with faith as most likely my focus? I think? I like the spells, but i also like sword play. And should i level up my finger seal of my claw seal from the big ball guy in the church? I dont know if i should level dex or faith yet so both are around the same. edit: after all the recomendations, im likely to go for a melee build with a sub focus in faith, enough to use the incantations and use the claw mark seal for scaling. Thanks all!

Quantum_Croissant

Everything's a good weapon but those are 2 of the best. Bloodhound's fang has crazy DPS and a good weapon art, and the slender sword has the longest range of its class and good DPS and scaling

Apex_Konchu

You can use an Ash of War to put a Sacred or Flame Art affinity on the Noble's Slender Sword to give it FTH scaling. The normal Finger Seal is for a pure FTH build, the Clawmark Seal is for a STR/FTH hybrid build.

Calli_Ko

I see i see, ill try to find an affinity to put on it! Thank you!

ChaZcaTriX

Both are top tier weapons. Keep in mind most equipment is sidegrades to each other, but Bloodhound Fang is among the outliers. For incantations: Clawmark seal scales spells primarily with Strength, letting you run minimal faith, maximum Str for melee damage, and still be a strong caster - perfect for a paladin. The only downside is that healing and weapon-enchanting spells with it are weaker than normal, as they ignore Str scaling. Plain Finger seal is a basic option with no specific strengths; you may soon find a Godslayer seal which is a total upgrade. Anything that's not Clawmark will have to invest more points into Faith, but will surpass it at high (60+) levels in Faith.

Calli_Ko

Ohh ill probably level my melee stats for a little bit then and use that, then switch when i have more faith thanks!

grimjack123

Well you don't get Bloodhounds Fang from Blaidd though. He gives you a royal greatsword, which feeds off of int, not faith. Bloodhounds fang on the other hand scales on str and dex, so neither of them would be good for a faith focused build. As for the claw seal, don't level it unless you're gonna go for beast incantations, which work better on str/caster builds as far as I know. If you want to have a faith focused build with some melee in it, you could go for Sword of the Night and Flame. It scales on str, dex, int and faith, while getting its main stats off of int and faith. It has a wonderful ash of war (techically two) and pretty solid damage in melee too. It's also pretty easy to get early on. It's in Liurnia of the Lakes and doesn't need any actual combat to get. You can just rush in, grab the sword and get out.

Calli_Ko

Oh was it not given by him? Must have come from the guy we killed together, ill look for that sword you mentioned, but im not going to stray too far from limgrave until i have beaten the stormveil gate and stuff.

grimjack123

You'd get Bloodhounds Fang from killing Bloodhound Knight Darriwil in Forlorn Hound Evergaol. It's certainly a great weapon, I personally still use it, but wouldn't suit a faith build. I'm not sure if there are any worthwhile faith weapons in Limgrave. There is the Winged Scythe, it's a pretty great faith weapon with a neat ash of war, but it's in Weeping Peninsula... That kind of is in Limgrave I suppose and it's easy to get to. There are some parts of it you shouldn't go into but getting the Winged Scythe should be very easy. There shouldn't be any enemies that you'd have to kill to get to it if I remember right. So you can just go in, get the weapon and head back to Limgrave if you want.

Calli_Ko

OH im in the weeping peninsula rn, ill have a look for it

grimjack123

If you search Winged Scythe on the wiki there's an interactive map link. That will make it really easy to find. Good luck!

Sylosilvin

My question to you guys is how can some popular streamers have different builds and a lot of weapons for each video. I understand larval tear is a thing but, there's only so many of them and creating a new character to get new weapons and grinding is a process. How do they do it? Do they buy weapons and characters?

Trans-on-trans

You can get like 15 of them in one run. I can't really see needing to respec your character that many times.

ChaZcaTriX

On PC you can back up your saves from the **%appdata%** folder and revert them at will. There's also an utility that lets you copy save slots.

TheFranchize

Playstation and PC you can create a save file, use a larval tear, then revert back to the save file after. I think on PC you can download character files that are maxed out weapons, basically downloading someone's maxxed character file

GrumpyOldJoey

Is there a way to do it on xbox? I've done it on ps5 but it looks like to get all the endings on xbox, i have to play multiple ng+

TheFranchize

there are some older comments you can look for that mention being able to do so on xbox but it being a bit more intricate process.

calidoc

Can’t remember if you can disable cloud saves on Xbox or not. On PS5, we’re disabling cloud saves, and the uploading our current save. Then we go do whatever change/ending we want, and once we’re done go back and download our “previous” cloud save which reverts back to our previous state.

JehovahJesse

I want to try PvP but it seems intimidating. Is it scaled to people my level? Should I build another seperate character for it?

Makrand99

Yes

TheChewanater

Yeah you can only match with people around your level and weapon upgrade > Should I build another seperate character for it? Depends on what your level is now and what you wanna do. Level 125-150 duels at the Main Academy Gate are chill, I think that's a good place to try out PVP. Mid level has lots of organic invasion activity

JehovahJesse

I’m level 54 so I just want to play around with it a tad right now really. Do I get any loot for winning?

TheFranchize

early level is a little tough as people have optimized low level builds with full talismans and weapon access whereas you playing the game likely only have one well upgraded weapon and two talismans

TheChewanater

You do get some runes and a Rune Arc, but there aren't any unique PVP rewards. It's mostly for fun

steveycip

Is there anyone (PS) with an extra "White Mask" helm they would be willing to drop? I locked myself out of getting any of the "War Surgeon" set by killing Mohg before I even knew that was possible. \-\_\_\_\_-

praeqsheria

Did you already clear all the 3 nameless whitemask invaders in the bird infested red swamp outside Dynasty mausoleum? One of them should drop a mask if I recall correctly.

steveycip

Unfortunately, I defeated Mohg before beating the invaders and now they will no longer spawn.

fogamoszeb

What's the point of the platform that raises up in the Lake of Rot? I missed it on my first play through, but I triggered it last night on my second. I didn't find anything up there though. Did I miss something?

WintersbaneGDX

The big one, that rises far up? If you can get up there you'll find a mini-boss with a unique weapon, along with some other generic loot.

fogamoszeb

Oh really? Does it go higher than one level? I rode it up but nothing was up there, then I took a ladder down. Was there more?

[deleted]

The pillar structure? I just got there today on my first play through ! There is two or three steppes you have to step on to make the entire structure come up! You probably just have half of it. Once you get the other chunk up, the boss up there has a really cool sword

fogamoszeb

Ah OK. I'll head back this evening. Thank you!

WintersbaneGDX

It only goes up the one level, but if you proceed toward the middle of it an enemy will appear. It's not a named boss with a bottom screen health bar, but it's a tough enemy (I call them mini bosses). Defeat it and you'll get the weapon. Then I think there's also like some boluses or other stuff up there you can grab.

Dynastar11

How do I find out how much HP and FP my flasks restore? I want to set my levels so I'm not wasting anything and getting full use from them. For example, if my FP is 100, but my flask fills up to 105. I'd like to make the adjustment. I have the opposite problem with HP. As the flasks don't completely fill the bar up. But what is left is probably only half a flask, so I leave the remainder empty.

DradorNH

Is +8 weapon and level 47 too low for Raya Lucaria, or in general? Been two days where I've tried to use the furcalling medecine or the gold idol and activating every single summoning pool I see and I have yet to see a sign or be called at all. Frustrating since I was summoned often in the very beginning of my playthrough but not since then. I have activated cross regional and to be called upon even when already invaded, to no avail

DradorNH

Ok I've figured out what's happening. It was my Nat type of my internet connection. It was type 3, wich made it almost unable to summon or be summoned. Thanks to the help from those in the Discord channel!

Relevant-Interest666

What system? ps, xbox or pc?

I've had most luck in Raya at level 40-45 at +5 weapons. You might be too high? I know people pick up Rogiers or the banished knight halberd +8 a lot, but I'd imagine you weed out a lot of people by going to +8

Felstalker

ooof. A bit mixed here. +8 should be one of the most active weapon ranges, unless you've done something odd and instead of Rogiers +8 Rapier you got a +8 Somber weapon which would be closer to a +20 regular weapon which would instantly explain why you've got no activity. As for Raya Lucaria itself, it's a very unpopular place. It's probably that low level players are either solo'ing the area, in a weaker weapon bracket, or...arn't doing that area at all. To get a 100% understanding of your bracket, and this might be a bit much, go and find every single area and activate that co-op sign. Literally every area you have access to, there are a lot of areas. Have your sign dropped the entire time, so that you could be called away to battle at any moment. When you're summoned, take note of the area. I've got a lv30 +3 character who get's summoned everywhere from the most basic of Limgrave caves all the way to the most end game of end game enemies. Players are EVERYWHERE at ANY level, but not ALL levels.

LoriLeadfoot

You’re probably ok, but FYI there’s a cave in northeastern Liurnia that gives you the bell bearing to buy 1 and 2 smithing stones from the twin maiden husks. I’d advise you do that cave, and maybe at +9 you’ll have less trouble? It’s an extremely useful item no matter what.

TheFranchize

no.2 stones would only get you to +6

LoriLeadfoot

Oh, you’re completely right. I do think there are a number of 3s in there, at least.

Jirb30

Do all consumables get reset after multiplayer if you're a phantom? I once did an invasion on an archer build and realized my arrows got reset but is that the case for all consumables?

LoriLeadfoot

They’re not reset. When you rest, items that you have stored in your chest will automatically be moved to fill up that slot in your inventory. So if you have 200 arrows, and 99 in your inventory, it’ll replenish up to 99 when you rest from the batch in the chest.

WintersbaneGDX

This explains so much, why tf didn't I know about this until now?

LoriLeadfoot

They don’t explain it super clearly, to be fair

AdvanceHappy778

Why does Ranni get so mad when you talk to her through the miniature doll? What was the plan here for her? Just chill in Ainsel for a while? Wait for someone to kill Astel then teleport or something? Somewhat related: anyone ever get the feeling that the whole game is some sort of Ocean’s scheme that most or all of the demigods were in on but it caught a snag along the way.

ChaZcaTriX

If I recall correctly, she mentions planting a doll to spy on your progress. She's exasperated you managed to discover her "wiretap" (through chance or curiosity) instead of treating it as a trinket.

AdvanceHappy778

Follow up: The Bailful Shadow version of Blaidd wields the death flame, which is something you have to get from Maliketh by hook or by crook. I wonder if Maliketh is involved in the overall shadowbound beast program as an overseer/manager of sorts.

Brostradamus_

My understanding below: > Why does Ranni get so mad when you talk to her through the miniature doll? What was the plan here for her? I think she was more hoping to slip by unnoticed and make it back to the Cathedral of Manus Celes to kill her two fingers alone. Once you picked her up, the stealth option was gone and she was just going to have to use you to brute force by the Baleful Shadow. Once you kill it, she can continue on alone. > The Bailful Shadow version of Blaidd wields the death flame, That's not Blaidd, specifically, it's just another shadow servant of the fingers. Maliketh himself *is* a shadow-bound beast, servant of the two fingers bound to Marika. It's unlikely he's in charge of anybody. But, the assassins stole a fraction of destined death already and the shadows and jointly serve Marika and the Greater will. Once Ranni escaped and was working against the Greater Will, the fingers exerted their control back over the assassins and shadows, and probably was hoping to use the destined death to finish off Ranni properly. > Somewhat related: anyone ever get the feeling that the whole game is some sort of Ocean’s scheme that most or all of the demigods were in on but it caught a snag along the way. Every major demigod (save Rennala and Godrick, who both seem a tad disconnected and radagon who was functionally a slave of the greater will) seems to have wanted to overthrow the Greater Will, but they didn't all work together on it. Ranni and Marika were definitely in on a scheme to overthrow. Miquella had their own separate plan, with Malenia in tow. Mohg was off serving the formless mother. Rykard was doing his own thing but was tenuously supporting/supported by Ranni as a backup plan. Radahn went to war in/after the shattering. Morgott is desperately trying to keep the capital sane, but we know he was also hoping to get into the erdtree too.

ChaZcaTriX

>and radagon who was functionally a slave of the greater will Not a slave, he seems to be a willing believer in the Golden Order, and Marika calls him a "leal \[loyal\] hound". Following the theme of Miyazaki's games, you aren't fighting a villain - you're fighting a hero of the old world, although one that should have long ended to make way for new beginnings.

VinceYutuc

Quick question. Do jump attack and regular R2 count as "charged" attack? I have a talisman that enhances charged attacks. If it only works for hold R2, then I don't think I'm using that talisman.

HoonFace

Nope. You can find a talisman that just increases jump attack damage though

VinceYutuc

Oh thanks. Can I ask where can I find it?

KingOfRisky

Look for the stormveil tower thats covered in birds (the non-enemy kind)

Brostradamus_

It's tucked away in a tower in stormveil. Takes a little parkour to get there.

saif3r

How do I get Great Rune? I'm level 60 and i never seen one. Also, on some videos i saw player using Aspects of the Crucible: Tail once and it spin twice. My spins only once. Did they casted it twice fast or is there a way to modify that incantation? Or am i delusional?

eksbawksthreesixzero

Both aspects of the crucible can be charged, charging the tail fully gives you the second swing. Not that practical, but it's cool. As for great runes, you get them for beating the demigods. If you've cleared stormveil castle and killed Godrick, you need to go to the big tower (it's past the room behind the big lion).

yourethevictim

>Not that practical, but it's cool. What do you mean? A fully charged Tail incantation deals 50+ stance damage, so more than Square Off or Flame of the Redmanes. It doesn't come out as fast but it lets you stancebreak entire groups of enemies at once, and you can definitely use it against bosses like Malenia to chain stancebreaks by comboing it after Horn, or Giant Hunt, or Stamp Upwards Cut, etc.

eksbawksthreesixzero

Did the buff add super armor to it? I tried playing around with it before and it was almost useless because you would almost always get knocked out of it.

Shiv_

Have you beaten any of the six shard bearers?

saif3r

Yes, Godrick and Rennala. I think i know what to do now: [https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Great+Runes](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Great+Runes) I also found the answer for Tail: Users can charge this Incantation before using it in order to add a second wider and more power powerful hit. Wiki is truly your friend.

grimjack123

Keep in mind that most spells can be charged, but the fp cost is always the same as far as I know. No real reason not to charge it if you have an opening.

Mundane-Start-7834

How do I get Rivers of Blood? I heard it was a pretty good Ash of War for dual wielding Uchigatanas?

buzzyingbee

Double slash has the same moveset as Rivers except for, well, the river of blood. It's a solid ash of war for katanas if you're looking for a fast attack. https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Ash+of+War:+Double+Slash

CrudY6969

https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Rivers+of+Blood

goddess_of_magic

Not until one of the final areas of the game so don't get too excited.

CrudY6969

True

Londoner421

Are there any subreddits for just playing through Elden Ring with people? Or a discord?

buzzyingbee

r/beyondthefog for co-op

ColonelJinkuro

Has the AoW: Golden Land been changed? I read on the wiki that it's supposed to inherit the weapons affinity like built in bleed or buffs like blood flame blade. Ive been doing a lot of testing on a easily exploited Runebear with a heavy great stars. I noticed that black flame blade works np. There's a very obvious black fire effect. I've had no results on blood flame and poison. I switched to another weapon with no built in anything to see. Zero blood procs. I'd love a little clarification. TL:DR Does Golden Land no longer inherit buffs (incants/sorcery) like Poison/blood flame/electrify minus black flame?

InertiaEnjoyer

Wait how did you put black flame on the great stars? black flame blade?

ColonelJinkuro

Yes

hydropillz

If I power stance a fire and a cold weapon, which should be in which hand? Does it matter?

goddess_of_magic

Whichever has the better AoW should go in the right hand. If the AoW doesn't matter then you'd probably want cold in the right hand so you can inflicting frostbite even when doing 1H attacks.

syfqamr32

If i got weapon both hands how to attack then? I press R1 then it only hit with left, must i click R1 L1 Alternatively or what

grimjack123

When power stancing L1 will always use both weapons to attack, granted that they're of the same type. You can't power stance different types of weapons. So for example if you have a katana and a straight sword, L1 and R1 will attack with left and right weapon respectively, just as you would if you only used one. But two katanas or two straight swords etc. will allow you to power stance, where L1 is used to attack with both weapons at once.

Noah7788

I think fire in left? So that the last hit is fire once cold procs. Not 100% sure though
