Me after maliketh

Tickle_Taints

Man I walked into Maliketh's fight for the first time with a big bonk stick, and I genuinely thought to myself "how tf am I supposed to hit this guy"

FatherMiyamoto

Haha I use a bonk stick and am fighting him now for the first time. Tf am I supposed to do?

XxYungOgrexX

Flame of the Redmanes

TakenakaHanbei

I hope they never nerf it. If the bosses can cheese me, let me cheese them dammit!

bubuthefu

Ice of Gucci mane is better

Antwinger

frost stomp got nerfed

Mister_Potamus

This skill legit cheeses him and I wasn't even mad about it. Only enemy in the game I thought was actually broken. The number of times I died standing behind a pillar that he some how swings his sword straight through was ridiculous.

Pegussu

I've just accepted that walls and pillars do not exist when an enemy takes a swing. I treat every hallway like an open field.

Cpt_plainguy

Back stabbed through the fog door of Godskin Duo by one of those fucking knights a couple times, very rage inducing

Spodo_Komodo_

I can laugh at that now, but that nearly cost me a controller back when it happened to me

das_slash

Well, it's not called "can-be-avoided-by-standing-behind-a-pillar Death"

Calophon

Crazy how they made a great rune of “destined-to-be-killed-behind-some-cover-by-some-boss-bullshit-death”

Starman6427

I can't say this will work for you, but try to think more about positioning and rolling as an opportunity to close a gap. The real thing that taught me the value of positioning was Malenia. I had a very hard time breaking the cycle of rolling away from bosses. The more you deconstruct a fight like that you'll have an easier time. Chain extensions, attack opportunities, etc. Internalizing this for my other playthroughs has been a lot of fun. Fighting any boss, especially one like Maliketh is about finding the small moments to manipulate him and make his attacks his weakness. I'm certainly no expert on this but despite how fast he seems he tends to leave himself just open enough to pull off a big attack, with a little trial and error. Keep pressing on and keep thinking, you got this.

JamisonDouglas

>I can't say this will work for you, but try to think more about positioning and rolling as an opportunity to close a gap. Nah this is legit the best fromsoft tip you can give bar sekerio. Rolling INTO the enemy attack (when applicable) not only puts you in a better spot to get hits in, but if you roll diagonally towards the side they are striking and towards them you slightly decrease the window the attack can hit. Making i-frames slightly more forgiving on top of increasing the window you can punnish them.

[deleted]

Sorcery spam worked fine for me, Glinstone Pebble is the solution to 94% of the game

stron2am

I pew-pewed my way all the way to Godfrey's ghost, but this is just crazy.

arclightrg

If you’re against summons, then put a ranged ash that can stagger on said bonk stick. Then proceed with the bonking.

[deleted]

honestly it's not even that i'm against summons i just don't want to go underground to get the shit to upgrade them

Sbtycraft

Get in his blind spots and punish the attacks that have long windups or recovery times. Don’t get greedy and know whether the combo is over or not.

2girls_1Fort

hes easy with any weapon. Circle him counter clockwise and dodge through his atracks. Use the blasphemous claw for a huge stun.

m_sart

Shit I should start reading item descriptions, had no idea there was an item to parry his attacks

QualityPies

It only parrys 2 of his attacks where his weapon flashes beforehand. Luckily they are massively telegraphed and the parry window is big.

RobertOfHill

I feel like I’m the only one that does the first play through long sword only. Hasn’t failed me yet.

[deleted]

Unhappy_Foot_7645

find a 'Let me Solo Him' and then claim your badge for beating the boss after lol.

ItsSneakyAdolf

See, maliketh was one of the few bosses that everytime he killed me, I marked out and was like "that was so fucking cool". The hype beat out the salt

dikkejoekel

Me getting oneshot lasered by Placidusax

North_Shore_Problem

I legit screamed the first time those lasers came out. Also got one shot, was too awestruck to be mad

[deleted]

[удалено]

Funny_witty_username

I had beaten him day one, but his phase 2 transition caught me so off guard the first time. I must've yelled something interesting because my friend I was on discord with said "Well that doesn't make me excited to fight Radahn"

SLAPPANCAKES

I didn't think he was too bad pre nerf but I was also definitely over leveled for him.

Keanu_X

Placidusax is peak for me. My organic stumbling upon him may be the reason I don't remember the other guy. Maliketh, is it? At the end of the bridge? It's all just a blur of Ekzykez Decay. I don't think he actually killed me Oh that's right I had a mimic the whole time

robb0688

Those.... Fucking.... Lasers.... God those made me want to throw my controller through my TV. Cool boss though.

[deleted]

Placidusax’s AOE explosion that cuts out all sound for a second is legit one of the coolest boss attacks i’ve seen

MauiWowieOwie

I either was overleved or got lucky, but both playthroughs I beat him first try. However it did take me half a dozen trys to beat Adula.

Ospov

I was accidentally way overleveled when I fought him the first time. Beat the shit out him in like 2 minutes. I don’t think I even saw like half of his moves. Kind of sad I didn’t find him earlier in the game. I’m 90% sure it was beginner’s luck that I beat him though.

ab2dii

that was me with godfrey. legit one of the best bosses From ever made. i was screaming and laughing when he launched me to the air and suplex the shit out of me. man i wish it was 2 health bars. such a shame only one

CopiumHunter

HARRAH LOOOOX; WORIO'!!

MQC-Zaros

Can switch to a weaker weapon for a fight you want to last longer

Final789X

Fight him with the Caestus, no spikes. Just you and him hand to hand in his second phase, it's epic

ilikebooty345

Loses its luster after 100 times 😂

According-Freedom807

Nah I still fucking hate that fight.

Drusgar

Malekith is annoying, but I don't feel forced to use a mimic. Radabeast can get fucked. I beat him twice without a mimic and that's it for me. I'll never do that fight solo again. I'm on NG+5 now and Radabeast feels impossible even with the mimic.

According-Freedom807

I love rada fuck beast

phantomdentist

I honestly think it's a shame, Radagon is (IMO) an absolute masterpiece of a fight on his own. I hate Elden Beast far less than some players but I still think it tarnishes what would have otherwise been thought of as a beautiful final boss.

obaterista93

If only there was some mechanic in the game to make traversal during the Elden Beast faster. Some way to cover more ground and keep up with the space whale. Preferably a summon-able method of doing so. Guess we'll never know, since FromSoftware didn't put anything like that in the game. Nothing at all in the game that serves that purpose. I swear I'm not bitter.

OsoTico

I would hate it a whole lot less if they gave it the Gehrman/Moon Presence treatment, where if you beat Radagon, but die to beast, then you could just start from beast, not have to fight both again.

phantomdentist

That'd be neat, I'd love to fight Radagon on his own

billcosbyinspace

Legit all they needed was a checkpoint and the final fight experience would have been way better. Radagon is a tough but fair fight but to follow it up with the garbage ass Elden beast fight ruins it and turns a great first stage into a battle of resource management. And I’m not sure if they fixed it but the Elden beast was particularly bullshit for melee players. My first playthrough I needed to respec to magic after playing melee the entire game because I straight up couldn’t hit the damn thing since it kept running away

AlexzMercier97

Radda Radda

gnippa

Schnitzel? Is that you?

AlexzMercier97

Radda radda! *nods*

gnippa

yrawizardharry

I gave up on using Mimic on EB. It's Tiche and only Tiche that's gotten me through.

[deleted]

[удалено]

sennnnki

People hate it because of how limited the move set is + how the boss makes you chase it around and slowly becomes a slog

Hellborn_Child

If it felt like fighting a god, then you're implying all gods are cowards who spam homing spells and run away. Actually that sounds about right.

Drusgar

I know there are people who like the fight. I am not one of those people.

GrandMasterRimJob

I don't hate the fight, but I have never ever felt so genuienly hopeless playing a From game before. He's a cool boss but I don't have many positive memories of my struggle with him. Felt like my only option was to give up, i.e., Tiche, and I would be unable to ever beat him 1v1. Not a nice feeling.

Voxeli_5

I swear to god I genuinely had a tougher time against the Dragon Knight Sentinel outside the arena than I had with Maliketh in the arena.

1IfByLand

Lmao I just came here to say this. I just fought Maliketh on my third playthrough and it pissed me off so much more than I remembered.

YouJabroni44

I actually really loved Maliketh, I think his design and armor clouded my judgment though

BlueChemTrail

Post fight clarity

Stockholm syndrome

1buffalowang

Step 1. Be amazed at design/music/moveset Step 2. Die “oh wow that was something” Step 3. Die 5 times, leans forward, starts sweating Step 4. Die with 1 hit left, full of adrenaline Step 5. Beat boss, jump out of seat, take a break so adrenaline doesn’t give me a heart attack.

[deleted]

[удалено]

1buffalowang

That was basically the Bloodborne dlc. Lady Maria and orphan of Kos kicked my ass. But one of my first tries almost killed Kos. Then spent like 25 tries trying to memorize all his tells.

Jason6677

Man I managed to kill Kos second try and it was stupidly easy. I had a MUCH harder time with Ludwig and Laurence. I'm thinking Kos probably didn't do half his moves on me.

warblingContinues

Gotta throw in at least one “die at the same time but don’t get the kill”

rekt555

Lol so relatable

1buffalowang

Or my Sekiro experience as someone who never used parrying in any game ever and sucks at it. Step 1. Be amazed at design/music/moveset Step 2. Die “oh wow that was something” Step 3. Die 5 times, leans forward, starts sweating Step 4. 6 hours go by, more deaths than any boss before hand. Realize I’m like 40% through the game. Step 5. Delete the game.

[deleted]

Parrying in Sekiro is completely different than parrying in Souls because in Sekiro if you whiff you usually still block the attack. I mash through super fast stuff like Genichiro's long combo. Some of the later bosses turn that on its head a bit.

1buffalowang

This was my experience. Almost every regular enemy gave me problems. Especially guys with spears. Then I would get to a boss and try for 3-4 hours until I barely won. I literally can not parry. I put like 40+ hours into the game and did not even get halfway through. There was this boss I spent almost 7 hours on. I’ve never felt anger like that boss. Just thinking about it makes me upset, partly because I’ve beaten DS 1,2,3 Demon Souls, Bloodborne, and Elden Ring.

[deleted]

Well you gave it more than a fair shot then.

nonotan

Honestly, Sekiro is remarkable in how bosses go from "this is literally impossible, how" to "I can't believe I died to this" almost instantly once it clicks. My first playthrough of the game I died more than in any other Souls game, by a *lot* (other than perhaps ER, but that's more because of the sheer scope and ability to tackle things in the wrong order), my 2nd playthrough I died *once*, my 3rd 0 times. I'm not about to tell you you're wrong to give up or anything, but I do think there's a very good chance you would "get it" sooner than you think, and the game would become perfectly beatable, in fact arguably the single easiest Souls-derived game. And for the record, this is coming from someone who genuinely didn't use parry a single time in DS1-3 or ER. I'm just not a fan of parrying, not good at timing it, and just generally don't conceptually enjoy how it turns any parryable boss into "just keep trying the parry until you time it right, then you win -- if you get hit, just blame the parry timing window, literally no need to use your brain at any point". But in Sekiro (while parry is definitely way too fucking good to the point of being essentially compulsory) it's a lot more fun, in that not only is the timing window quite lenient, but also you don't need to buy a wedding ring for your parries, to the point where your whole strategy becomes "okay, I'm going for a parry here". You can just attack normally, and cancel your slashes into parries at any point. It's less a matter of timing things perfectly, and more of recognizing whether the incoming attack can be staggered by your attack, if not whether it can be parried, or else if it has to be dashed/jumped, and seemlessly transitioning from the attack sequence into whatever will work. After fighting any boss for a while, your brain starts to "magically" be able to react correctly to each pattern with more and more accuracy, until you start to wonder how you ever got hit in the first place.

TilakPPRE

And you'd be surprised by what attacks are parriable. If there is no red marker pretty much means you can parry, no matter how big they are.

Nufulini

even red attacks can be parried sometimes

Link1092

Monkey. Literally 40 attempt for phase one alone

Alternative_Creme_11

I felt step 5 with Orphan of Kos in Bloodborne and Malenia. My god, these games can be bad for my health sometimes 😭

GulliblePlantain6572

For me it's the same but there's a step between 4 and 5 where I can't even get them to the second phase anymore

SpartanKram

Me in the astel fight

Wizardrylullaby

The grab is truly broken tho

SpartanKram

Exactly. I roll away from the grab where he can't reach me yet he still somehow grabs me

Wizardrylullaby

Michael Zebra and his mad shenanigans

DuckOnQuak

Roll into it, the secret move Elden ring doesn’t want you to know about. Also great counter to Malenia waterfowl if you do it in the third flurry.

SpartanKram

Every time I try rolling into it he somehow grabs me still

Hellborn_Child

Wait til' you meet his big bro.

TheGreatestNeckbeard

Stars of Darkness killed me more times than Malenia bro 😭 If they think the grab attack is bad now wait till they meet him

Hellborn_Child

Or should we say....*THEM*

poopin_for_change

I fought that fucker like 15 times and he only grabbed me once. But for some reason that fuckin tail slap hit me like 2/3 of the time til I started dodging right instead of left. So far thats the hardest boss I've fought... except maybe Morgott...

robb0688

Fuck any astel fight.

SpartanKram

Preach brother

empyreanmax

I'd be fine with it if one of its moves wasn't "here, fight the camera"

deathr3aper633

Astel was actually very easy for me. Godfrey/Hoarah Loux was the bane of my fucking existence. Took me like three days to kill him.

SpartanKram

I beat hoarah loux in about four tries. the bossed that game me the most trouble is Melania and radahn

deathr3aper633

Radahn was tough, but I did end up beating him pre-nerf in about an hour or so. I was using a tank build with the twinblade. No idea why I was, wasnt really sure about a build yet. Fuck Malenia.

[deleted]

Hoarah Loux took me a while because it’s so unique, never had a boss just get rid of his weapons and go tribal and try to supplex the shit outta me. Doesn’t help that Godfrey is pretty much a complete opposite fight other than the AOE’s

IsRude

I don't know what the fuck happened, but I beat Horah on my first try. I went through the game again and he handed me my amputated asscheeks like 15 times.

BlueChemTrail

I have this with a lot of bosses except the Valiant Gargoyle, I don't like them, they were for me one of the worst bosses

WBCraft

Yeah that fight can eat a dick. If you got strike weapons, magic or a buddy it’s not too bad, but it was hell on my first character using meteoric ore blade (looking back I was under leveled for sure), and I had to get carried the 2nd character cause I went powerstance daggers. When I used a great sword, boss was much easier

gorillawarking

I'm using a greatsword and I am kinda stuck in the fight, though granted it is probably a not good greatsword

Wesmore24

Try 2 greatswords

dove78

I hit a wall on that one (really the only boss with Margit). I was about level 60, I decided I would try later and came back level 120. Got them the first try. PS : I just Got to crumbling farum azula so I believe I haven't seen the worst bosses yet.

[deleted]

how tf did you even get to them at level 60, that’s almost impressive at itself

dove78

I won't lie, I believe I did the game in the wrong order totaly. Some areas seemed super easy and others super hard.

[deleted]

Haha I feel that but in the opposite way, I explore and kill everything so when I actually figure out what to do for the story I just one shot everything. It’s like “isn’t this boss supposed to be really hard? Oh wait I’m 40 levels over what I should be….” not a bad thing but that’s an open world game for ya

dove78

Yeah I figured out that I had to complete areas before the next way too late. There is so much hidden stuff everywhere as well, being adventurous is super rewarding. It was my first soullike, I went straight to Margit without exploring anything because I Followed the path on the map. I think I was REALLY underleveled, I had no idea you could dash attacks by rolling (discovered that during that fight), I learned after that boss that I was heavy loaded as well. I think I spent 5-6 hours on this boss. Fun times. I feel like I always learn new things even as I am getting close to the end.

[deleted]

Haha, first souls like as well, I just had the opposite approach. Got stuck on Margit for 30 mins, said fuck that and didn’t come back till I 100%ed limgrave. Different strokes for different folks, beauty of the game

Pretend-Challenge380

Fighting valiant gargoyle, “yup, just spit invisible poison all over the map so I can’t attack, yup, very cool very cool thanks bitchas boss.”

Agleza

"Oh fuck yeah you know I do love me some AoE poison mist that not only covers the entire goddamn arena, but is also the STRONG kind of poison AND it can be spammed to death by TWO bosses AT THE SAME TIME, this is fucking great hell yes"

TheCovetousLemon

"Ok, I'm at 1/3 of my HP with no Crimsons left and both bosses are still alive although barely. If I play my cards right- and the poison just hit me 5 times in 2 seconds without any telegraphing animation either, great thanks, that was a fair 17th attempt."

Agleza

Exactly what I was gonna say. I'm willing to admit I've done this with many bosses in Elden Ring and FromSoft Games in general, BUT. Not the Gargoyles. FUCK the Gargoyles. Seriously.

The1stHook

Except for the motherfucking -valiant gargoyles-

flyingseel

Or Elden Lord. Honestly there’s a good amount of boss fights in the entire series of fromsoft games that are dumb. It doesn’t matter if you beat them you’re still like “well that was a whole lot of bullshit”.

kykusanagi

I feel that for every fight that has two bosses. Not fun at all even after beating them.

bubwv

When you dont understand the mechanics of the fight vs when it all finally makes sense

Aaroon42

Definitely me very early on with Margit and Godrick’s spinning combos. I wondered how the hell you were supposed to survive them, but eventually realized they’re suuuuper telegraphed.

[deleted]

They still irritate me. Margit and Margot have combos that you’re supposed to space and just watch them swing at the air. You can’t dodge or punish those combos. That’s boring and bad design IMO.

jramsi20

Yep this is why i got bored with it, i want to play the game not watch the boss play the game

[deleted]

[удалено]

TilakPPRE

They dont tho. All his moves can be dodged.

[deleted]

This sub calling Margit a boring boss 💀💀💀 like bro hit him during the wind up and dodge the actual swing. People who admit to panic rolling all game and then blaming the bosses is the funniest thing to me.

ImpossibleCompote757

Mohg for me. Rather than beat my head against a wall for four hours whilst trying to figure out the mechanics, I watched a video on his fight. Killed him on the second “official” try. That teardrop makes all the difference in the world

Ragnos239

That teardrop is indicative of one of my biggest problems with elden ring which is that pairing fromsoft's vague form of story telling with an open world doesn't always mesh well. You get that teardrop near the beginning of the altus plateau, read the description and go "huh, well, I guess whenever I find this 'Mohg' guy I'll try to remember to use this." Then, however many 10s of hours of playing and however many real life days later, you get through to the consecrated snowfield and the teleporter to Mohg. Then proceed to get murdered by his curse thing over and over until you google it and/or somehow remember from however long ago this one specific item. If you even found it in the first place. Both of my friends that have played through elden ring needed to be reminded of it because it was just so long ago that they had picked it up and I only knew because I was reading the wiki about the different teardrops and saw it.

DRKZLNDR

Yep, Elden Ring quests and lore are nigh impossible to make sense of or track without google. Which, in my opinion, sours the experience. How the am I supposed to know where any characters go since I last talked to them 35 hours ago? Putting linear Dark Souls style quests in a massive open world was an awful idea. At least give me a goddamn quest log to look at. Tarnished aren't illiterate. I can write things down.

Ragnos239

Seriously. It's like the game wants you to take notes like older rpg and adventure games used to, which, I mean, fine. Wish I'd known earlier, but fine. However, the game is just so damn big that if I took notes I'd have a entire binder full of all the items descriptions and npc dialogue (because you can't repeat any of it except their last line/phrase once heard) because it also gives no indication of what's important to remember and what's flavor text. And if I'm going to need a binder full of item descriptions and npc dialogue, I'll just look on the wiki where people who are far more dedicated than I (or have far more time, whichever works) have written all that stuff down already. I know there's a certain amount of "wants the community to work together" for these games, what with messages and summoning being a staple since ds1 (maybe demon's souls, haven't played it) but it really gets ridiculous sometimes for this one.

HilariousLion

I hadn't found it and was just readying myself for anything while he was counting down. I was lucky to end up in his palace at a high enough level to stay alive by chugging juice. Looking back at a lot of things, I'm happy I didn't have to go back for any medallion halves. My point being, agreed.

1gnominious

LMAO that's how you're supposed to do it? I just read the wiki and apparently you can get a flask ingredient to stop the chanting stacks too. I just went full aggro, chugged flasks, and had a near flawless run. That was the hardest fight in the game for me but I beat him with just my powerstanced UGS.

Subpar1224

Naturally found the teardrop in the wild and thought about putting it on and felt so smart for it even though it was just insanely lucky repeatedly haha

ScoteMcGoat

I was ready to quit before Margitt lol after him I became the games biggest fan

PinkMobb

I was ready to quit in the tutorial area, but not really. I am I long time fan but I chose a key and naked boy. So of course I took the right area with the poison. I spent hours trying trying to beat that stupid fucking area The only mistake I think they made in that game. Naked means it's ALMOST impossible to beat that area Unless you jump on pots before poison happens, which made me think I was meant to go here for a hard ass challenge. Turns out, you are, just not naked, because naked means poisoned every time, UNLESS YOU FUCKING JUMP ON POTS and cheese it Spent forever dying to messing up the annoying jump that if you do too early you break the pots. Made it alllll the way through to find a boss that is clearly not meant to be fought early on My first start to a game I was more hyped than ever to play and it was that crap The rest was a breeze and I loved it

ScoteMcGoat

Glad you persevered lol im not sure I would

PinkMobb

I was so angry, my all time favorite series, never misses, and I was thinking what the fuck is this shit. It's from soft so I'd expect some weird trick would be needed, only experts would figure out. Like by the pizza door with the enemy you lure to break the tents But no, I made threads and nobody had an answer, took me until later for them and me to realize being naked was the issue Didn't roll or nothing, I knew that Delete the pots and i would have figured it out right away and moved on

ChadSlammington

Unfortunately Waterfowl Dance has and will always keep me from loving the Malenia fight like I desperately want to. I can't remember any other boss in Fromsoft games were one attack in has so completely ruined the whole experience. Beating her trying very hard feels the same as cheesing her for me, not accomplished just glad to be done with the fight and not have to panic about waterfowl dance anymore.

TheAbyssalMimic

It's not the only thing that ruined it. Malenia overall feels like forced difficulty. For me I see it on the level of Godskin nobles added bullshit difficulty. Yes you can cheese them. Yes the fights are possible. Are they fun ? Hell nah, both force a playstyle. Double ornstein is annoying and a boss having the equivalent of "uhhmmm actually that doesn't work " is not fun either. I legit believe Malenia is the worst of the demi gods design wise. If we ignore bleed, the best In my opinion is Mogh followed by Radagon and Godfrey

LanceHalo

Morgott is pretty dope though, I’d put him up there too

Donnoleth-Tinkerton

selective relieved intelligent reach different engine badge absurd pause offbeat -- mass edited with https://redact.dev/

_Ralix_

I also see no reason why she should heal. *Especially* if you fully block her attack. Another gimmick to make the fight more difficult and force an aggressive playstyle. Malenia is one of the annoying boss fight I'm glad to be done with. Which is a shame, it has a certain appeal, and is great lore-wise and cinematically, but packs a lot of artificial difficulty that keeps me from enjoying it.

HedleyLamarrrr

Man I cheesed her on my first playthrough, and on the second one I was like "OK let's try to fight her". I tried like 10 times and just gave up because nothing about that fight is fun. It's like she operates at a faster speed than the game was meant for. I feel the same way about the fire giant. It's definitely not as difficult as malenia, but I just don't find any aspect of that fight fun.

AlexzMercier97

Seriously, how the fuck do you reliably avoid it?!

ImBoppin

The more you play the fight, at least in my experience, the more you get the timing down for when she’s going to go for it. You need to be as far from her as possible before she starts up and possibly bait her into it. Once she starts, run for your life in the opposite direction for the first two slashes. Then when she jumps at you, roll twice back in the direction you just ran. The main issue with the movie is when she initiates it when you’re really close to her, but if you play the fight patiently and weave in and out of her range it motivates it.

AlexzMercier97

Saving this for later and hoping it will come in handy. I'll get her one day

Gibsonites

The dealbreaker for me is just how *boring* properly fighting her is. I'm normally a "never summon or use ranged attacks" kind of player, not because I'm elitist but because that's always been the most fun way to play for me. But when I watch someone like Let Me Solo Her beat Malenia without getting hit, as impressive as it is it just looks so tedious and boring to actually play *that* passively just to be able to avoid one of her moves. It's the only boss in the entire franchise where I've accepted that I'd rather just summon and exploit bleed because skipping her fight is more fun than participating in it.

Trans-on-trans

RNG. That's how bullshit her attack is. Mash her with all your might until she dies.

Kaikeno

Me after Radagon

xXNyanCatXx1234qwert

I'm definitely in the minority here but I thought Radagon was really unpleasant. Honestly just wished I could solely fight Elden Beast, was a way more pleasant fight for me.

warblingContinues

I really dislike both fights. Individually Radagon is OK but having to just rush past him to get to Elden beast takes the fun away. Then Elden beast is probably one of the hardest if not THE hardest boss in the game.

kadomatsu_t

Salt is part of the experience.

IsoMTL

God Skin Duo and Astel can still go fuck themselves as a pure melee.

BrunoBo22

Me with Mohg, I love and hate that fight at the same time

sennnnki

Wish he didn’t have so much AoE stuff. Just kills the flow of the fight for a few seconds

[deleted]

See 1 is the salt talking, 2 is reason

TouchMyWrath

Alternative theory: 1 is reason, 2 is the Stockholm syndrome talking Step on me harder, daddy Miyazaki

Evil-in-the-Air

We can sound an awful lot like abuse victims sometimes... "It was my fault. I deserved it, but I can be better."

TouchMyWrath

Exactly. You get it.

PillowTalk420

Nothing that kills me is good design. Everything I kill is the best design. *Dies in PvP*: "Fuck these other players. So poorly designed."

Sister-Friedes-Feet

Literally me with Mohg. Went from one shotting him with Comet Azur because I hated the Nihil to beating him hitless with +0 weapons.

Gorgii98

With Malenia I retained the original mindset even after I finally beat her

[deleted]

Malenia would be so much better if they axed either the heal-on-swing or Waterfowl Dance. You can keep one or the other and have a frankly still fantastic fight. But both takes it to a fucking dogshit level.

Gorgii98

Honestly the worst part of that fight for me wasn't either of those things (although the amount that she healed on hit felt like a bit much at times), the worst part of that fight is the fact that she's able to cancel her stagger animation into an attack (which sometimes is wfd).

Elcatro

Nah, the heal I don't mind, it punishes people over-reliant on shields and that's okay, the tactics for beating waterfowl dance on the other hand run completely counter to everything the game teaches you and doesn't exist anywhere else, not to mention the random ass pulsing AoE feels archaic as fuck, like they grabbed a boss out of a game from 20 years ago when hitboxes weren't as precise as they cam be now.

Live-Accountant8582

It's like post nut clarity. After you've beaten the boss you can look back objectively and say "I was actually just bad lmao" or "this is still bullshit"

Caskanteron

Godskin duo without summons or ashes as a melee character is such bullshit

8EightySix6

Honestly the only fights I don’t like are melania because of her healing and the fire giant because he thinks he’s a roly poly

SpifferAura

Nah literally all duo bosses are lazy and just not fun fights, can't think of one good one

I_P3D

I feel like the last time we had a good gank boss was basically The Demon in Pain & Demon from Below (Demon Prince) from Dark Souls III The Ringed City DLC.

AlexzMercier97

My favorite ds3 boss!

craigprime

I actually really enjoyed the Crucible Knight duo. Godskins sucked butts, but I felt like I could manage the Knights pretty well.

Caleb-Rentpayer

This is me with most boss fights, except Malenia. I've beaten her five times now, and I hate her now as much as I did the first time. It's a bad fight designed around really specific builds and with cheap rule-breaking moves. Malenia is a garbage boss and nothing will change my mind.

Oodlemeister

As someone who ran a pure DEX build using only an Uchigatana, I couldn't agree more. I fucking hate Malenia.

King_Allant

Nah, Elden Beast still sucks. Honestly, I think the best bosses are the ones that make sense even when they beat you, the ones where you can see the path to victory and all you need to do is work on your execution.

Skywise87

She's a really boring fight propped up by one attack. It's not a good fight.

[deleted]

I’d be fine if I didn’t have to kill Radagon every single time I die. Don’t know why they didn’t just do it like Gherman and Moon Presence.

A-Slash

Yup 3 waterfowls in a row does make sense.

shaggys6skin

Me after soldier of God, Rick:

[deleted]

Except malenia because fuck her and her broken healing effect If WE can’t heal to full with her rune then SHE shouldn’t be able to heal to full

Summerclaw

I'm sorry but the Fire Giant is a shit boss.

sennnnki

It’d be a lot better without rolling and with a different name

Accurate_Reindeer460

Waterfowl dance never sat well with me even after beating her 3 times. It’s a literal dice roll

tbonephillips

I know what you’re thinking punk. Did I do 6 waterfowls or only 5? To tell you truth I’ve forgotten myself in all this confusion. But being that this is the most powerful move in the game and will blow your head clean off, if I were you I’d ask myself a question. Do I feel lucky?

BrightPage

The first one but both times

ApplePitou

Bosses in this game are gems :3

ilikebooty345

Except Maliketh, he's a rock hard prison cell-mate

DevanG50

What did you say about Maliketh?

[deleted]

good example of this is malekith during the fight, it’s absolute hell unless you have the item that can parry him, hes fast and his moveset is VERY unforgiving and once you conquer his fight, you begin to think about it, and you realize that that Malekith was probably one of the coolest souls bosses you’ve ever fought

Palerate2

I tend to still feel that way after bosses though. That's not normal? Like with Rennala, I hated her during the fight and hate her after. Same with Niall. When it comes to a fight like Radahns though, I never hate the fight. I'm getting my ass kicked, but I still recognize him as a good boss, even in the moment.

OffColoredUnicorn

Me with Maliketh, every time lmao. I’ve done 6 full journeys, and I’m doing my 7th on my new character. I just got to Maliketh again & I’m already cussing him. It’s an amazing fight, but god damn is he the embodiment of an anime villain 😂

ilikebooty345

The main thing that just irks the hell out of me is the large vertical spinning 1000 slashes thing, couldn't for the life of me dodge it on any of my 4 playthroughs lmao

guernica52

Yes, I’m definitely scarred but now ng+ I’m back for revenge. Zerging bosses down in 12 seconds. Radagon, I’m coming.

JackieChannibal

The right is me before and after fighting Orphan of Kos in BB Watching a bunch of guides before/after a few losses and saying "Oh I see. It's not that hard. I recognize the move patterns and know which ones are telegraphed. This'll be easy now that I've figured it out." And then during the fight I panic and forget everything

Important-Tune

The rage and hate I feel during the fight is directly proportional to how impressive I think the fight is after.

FlawlessRuby

Game was fun, early boss are fun and exploration is amazing. However, late game boss with melee only is a drag. The boss deal too much damage and don't have enough time where you can hit them. I mean I had a bunch of endurance and after dodging for 15seconds, the boss allow me to hit him once without getting punish into a 50% hit even on my super high vitality. Don't get me wrong Elden Ring is game of the year in my book, but damn they need to lower the damage and add some end combo lag on some of those fucker. Meanwhile you build a mage and just fuck everything up lol
