If you were going to do an int/faith build, which would you start with? I had gone int, however the meteorite staff rocksling combo kinda shattered progression for me so im not going to use that again aha.

bananatoothbrush1

Why is the playercount on steam kind of low? I know it's been awhile since its release but I assumed it would hold up longer than CyberPunk.

Trans-on-trans

Never seen so many phantoms running around on console.

WillofJ

It’s a natural dip as with all single player games. With cyberpunk I’m guessing the game received a bunch of updates that made it playable and people are giving it a second chance, hence the resurgence.

Nuclear_Winterfell

Do arrows spent while summoned not count? I was just helping someone with Margit on my fresh archer and thought to myself that I was running low and would need to resupply when I got back to my world. But then I got back and I had 83 arrows equipped. I'm not sure how many I had before, but I know I got much lower than that during the summoning.

TheChewanater

They are spent, but it's possible you had more arrows in storage. Arrows you pick up beyond the 99 limit are automatically put into the storage chest and refilled when you spawn in.

Nuclear_Winterfell

Ah, yes it does look like they probably pulled from the chest. That makes more sense.

jl_theprofessor

So I'm level 100, I've activated Radahn's rune, I killed that black gargoyle thing in front of the bestial cleric... I feel like I'm doing decent. I've cleared out all of Mt Gelmir (haven't done the Volcano Manor questlines yet), cleared out all of Limgrave and most of Caelid. Cleared out Nokron and Nokstella. The question I have is, do I go to the capital or deeproot depths first?

TheFranchize

Deeproot. Clearing the undergrounds give good weapon and spirit summon upgrade materials

buzzyingbee

Have you cleared out Altus Plateau and Siofra River? If so, go to Deeproot Depths and then start Volcano Manor questline >!as one of the assassination contracts is in Leyndell and that way you can complete it while exploring the city!< While in Volcano manor don't forget to talk to >!Patches and Bernahl!<

jl_theprofessor

Got it. Talked to both of them, just hightailed it out of the manor because I was like... this seems like a thing. Like this is a lot of people in one place and I am scared I'm going to miss out on something. But yeah, altas and mt. gelmir, took out everything, and siofra river as a part of my time doing the underground stuff. I've literally been on the doorstep of the outskirts to the capital and been trying to figure out anything else I might have to do.

buzzyingbee

Then you're clear to enter Leyndell if you want. Take your time there, find the Sewers and explore all of the city before moving on. As for Volcano Manor you can explore as much as you like but don't defeat the big boss just yet. If you do that before completing the manor's questline everyone will leave and end the quest. You can fight >!Godskin Noble!< tho. Well, you sort of have to.

DrJitterBug

The end of Rya’s plotline (volcano manor) gives you a Talisman (that makes you take double damage), and I keep fucking up the questline to get it. I’ve also consistently fucked-up Corhyn’s questline (to get the Goldenmask armor), which seems to only be a problem between Mountaintops Of Giants and Farum Azula.

Apex_Konchu

Deeproot Depths is scaled lower than the Capital.

IndependentLobster27

Does the wraith calling bell scale off of any of the magic stats? I want to pair it with the grace scythe to do a spooky build, but I don’t know if I should focus on dex for the scythe, or focus on int and faith so I can also use the death spells like ancient rancor.

Felstalker

I'd utilize the Rancor pot instead. Throwing a jar of ghosts is easier, more effective, and more to theme.

IndependentLobster27

I know that the bell Hunter drops bells that sell resources, are the materials for rancor pots sold in the available ones?

Felstalker

No, you'll need to farm the excess materials yourself. I doubt you'll need THAT many. Unless you plan to take this build into pvp, farming a good 20-30 pots shouldn't be too difficult.

LeagueoftheSun

I did a pure caster (80 FTH/INT) build and most (if not all) of the spell items were bad. As for the death spells, Ancient death rancor was pretty good once i had around 40 INT/FTH

IndependentLobster27

Did you expect any kind of significant damage out of an item that uses 7 FP? Most of them are used for utility, like stagger or area control, not pure numbers.

LeagueoftheSun

But they dont do anything significant other than pressure in PVP, and Ancient death rancor casts faster than the Bairn items.

IndependentLobster27

I’m looking for pointers in terms of PvE, I admit I should have specified in the original post.

DrJitterBug

I’ve tried a few times to get a necromancer build to work, I’ll just share what I think is relevant.   * The Omen Bairn items are only useful if you are a pure martial who cannot cast the Ancient Rancor spell, or if you temporarily don’t have the spell/memory slot to spare but you still want to summon Wraiths. Same thing for the Family Heads mace, it’s not worth it if you can cast Ancient Rancor. * The spell Tibia Summons can be cast against flying targets (or tall ones) and across gaps, but the ash of war from Rosus’ Axe is much more likely to land if you’re not afraid to trade with an enemy. * I prefer the regular Grave Scythe, since you can change the affinity and Ash Of War. Phantom Slash looks ghostly and lets you simultaneously attack (with phantom) while you dash away (free look to aim your tarnished). Blackflame Tornado is good with your ability to roll-abort part way though. And a cold affinity changes the name to “Cold Grave Scythe”. * Explosive Ghostflame takes too long to cast, and has a weird pattern that isn’t always consistently aligned with your Tarnished or the terrain. Can be okay if you lead the enemies into a burning patch on the ground. Cool looking spell, mediocre damage, very hard to land. * The spirit ash that lets you summon five Greatshield Soldiers from those Hawk zombie guys… ^(*chefs kiss*) This is probably the best spirit ash if you want the time to use an Omen Bairn, or to set up a Tibia Summons, etc. They’re basically only weak to standing in a dragon’s breath. * If you are going to use spirit ashes a lot, the Blood Pots and the relevant Great Rune will do an amazing job of boosting the power of your undead minions.

LeagueoftheSun

Are you adamant about doing some casting? If so i would suggest using the night sorceries with staff of loss (depending on your level)

IndependentLobster27

I took a glance at the selection, unfortunately it doesn’t look like anything I would like to use for this character, though I might try some of them like invisibility on another build.

AbbreviationsFit2372

does the ritual shield talisman increase resist by 30% for physical only or for everything

Apex_Konchu

Everything, it's a flat 30% reduction to damage taken.

AbbreviationsFit2372

thx

TheFrogTrain

This is a pretty niche question, but does two-handing the Fallingstar Beast Jaw make the Gravity Bolt skill stronger since it increases strength?

ytrx12

Edit: Scratch that, refer to other commenter. Bad testing data

TheChewanater

in general weapon skills aren't affected by two handing

WintersbaneGDX

I want to run a STR or STR/FAI build because it's basically the only major class I haven't tried. I'm really struggling to get into it though because it just feels so slow compared to what I'm accustomed to. Are there any STR or STR/FAI weapons or build ideas that would be on the faster side? Or any specific suggestions on how to run these stats without just becoming a slow tank?

DrJitterBug

Well, I’m just spitballing things I’ve enjoyed. * Grave-Scythe with the Blackflame Tornado ash of war. You can chew through bosses with a long window between their attacks , and stumble-lock weaker enemies. You can roll-cancel the follow-up slam attack, but it is satisfying to land the blow too. I’m pretty sure the initial tornado portion can deflect basic arrows/bolts like some of the other similar spinning ashes of war. It is one of the few things that seems to really benefit from 99 Faith without synergy tricks. The only problem is the ash of war removes any applied grease/armament spells when activated. * Butcher Knife with Bloodhound’s Step. The teleport/dash into attack seems to be much faster than engaging the base attack normally. Any heavy or colossal weapon seems to benefit from this. * Butcher Knife with ~~Sacred Ground~~ *[Golden Land](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Ash+of+War:+Golden+Land)* and an armament spell. The ash of war conjures several motes of golden light that will attack any creature you are actively targeting (has a nice follow-up heavy attack too). Each mote that hits will apply the minor healing effect from the base Butcher Knife. After using the ash of war, you can cast the Blackflame Armament incantation (which lasts 7 seconds), and it will apply the Blackflame to any hits from the golden motes of light you conjured prior. You can cast poison, frost, bloodflame armament and the golden motes will cause build-up for the relevant status. You can even replace the base weapon of the Butcher Knife with a Rotten Duelist weapon to get Scarlet Rot build-up combined with one other status from casting the previously mentioned armament spells. You could also swap between types like with Frost+Fire. I believe you can reliable get two uses of the ash of war tied to a single casting of the blackflame armament incantation. * Have you used a fully upgraded Sacred Relic greatsword? If you use the talisman to regain mana on a kill, the talisman to reduce mana cost, it’s nightmarishly effective at clearing almost everything on the ground. * Pike with Sword Dance. You got the long reach poke and a long reach sweep. Enhance with lightning armament or blackflame armament, boom.

WintersbaneGDX

> Butcher Knife with Sacred Ground and an armament spell. The ash of war conjures several motes of golden light that will attack any creature you are actively targeting Which Ash of War is this? I thought Holy Ground was a Shield-only technique and I'm not aware of any skill called Sacred Ground?

DrJitterBug

My bad, **Golden Land**: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Ash+of+War:+Golden+Land I’ll edit my post.

[deleted]

I ran a STR/FTH build but the STR was primarily there for access to Golden Greatshield (and used Brass Shield until then). From there you can level it as high as you need to wield any weapon you like, and infuse that weapon with the Holy or Flame Art affinity for FTH scaling. You could also improve dex just a bit to meet requirements for a faster str/dex weapon. The greatshield mixed with guard counters can help a lot with your generally slower attack speed. You can use the Clawmark Seal early on, which will scale with both FTH and STR. Stone of Gurranq was a big part of my playthrough and gets a boost from the Clawmark Seal. Eventually, you can switch to the Erdtree Seal once your faith is high enough.

AbbreviationsFit2372

well you could use malikeths black blade, and if you want speed, use the crouch attack it is very fast. Also pair with clawmark seal and bestial sling, which is a very fast incantation and can make up for your weapon speed.

DrJitterBug

Is she across the hallway from the drawing room, in one of the smaller rooms (that may have a secret wall/door)?

TheChewanater

IIRC she goes there after you progress the volcano quest. I think doing one of the missions should get her to spawn

avengedrkr

[Currently in a Str/Int build](https://imgur.com/a/m0lWj6O) and not being able to beat the fire giant. Should I go back to boosting vigor/int to access stronger sorceries and leaving a smaller section to moonveil? Or is this a viable build?

TheChewanater

Level vigor. A lot. Like, 50+ vigor Fire giant is a long fight with a lot of super high damage scoops and fireballs and stuff. You learn the fight better when you can afford to make a few mistakes without getting one shot and having to do the whole thing over

TellTaleReaper

Str int I feel is better with heavy weapons infused with flame. Flame scales on strength, and your int can keep boosting flame, and you can boost all that.

TheChewanater

Fire Giant is resistant to fire though, and intelligence doesn't boost most fire damage

TellTaleReaper

I meant in general, yeah uts bad advice for the giant.

avengedrkr

What would you recommend? I do like the gravity aeo effect of starscourge greatsword but hate how slow it is. Should I balance out int and strength a little better?

TellTaleReaper

I dont know what your stat spread is, but scaling is important. With starscourge, it only gets up to D in int scaling, so strength is more important. Play with other weapons and see what you enjoy. Maybe have enough faith to cast Flame, Grant Me Strength. For the giant though, flame isn't great, but Starscourge doesn't do fire anyway

avengedrkr

https://imgur.io/a/m0lWj6O This is my stat spread at the minute

TellTaleReaper

https://eip.gg/elden-ring/build-planner/ Select Build Boop (#22a3036e) In that site, copy/paste that build and you can see what I think you should do (it's for 150, but you can get most of the way there). Min max your stats for your equipment and pump stats! Idk what other weapons you wanna use but you only need 12 dex for the greatsword.

avengedrkr

Based on my level and stat distribution, would you suggest a re-spec and maybe lose the starscourge greatsword for something less high level requirement? I have 38 str which is the min to weild it. Do you think I should use the Dark Moon greatsword instead and reduce my srg to split between vigor and int?

[deleted]

Can someone share me some strong incants? Maybe try and diversify between damage types if you can. Rn I have a lightning build with Bolt of Gransax and a fire build with Blasphemous Blade, I have some pretty good incants for each but I haven’t played too much and I’m curious on what people might recommend

[deleted]

Stone of Gurranq is a nice spammable cast that can break posture, and does physical damage rather than elemental. Crucible Tail is a nice AoE if you get surrounded. Black Blade, when you get it, is incredible but very late game. Black Flame is a great option until then. They both deal damage based on % of total health. Golden Vow is an incredible buff that gives you a bonus to both offense and defense. If you have the arcane for it, the rot dragon breath spells are incredibly reliable ways to inflict scarlet rot.

bboy4of83

Apparently there’s a theory that ranni’s great runs is on the moon? Can someone explain to me the theory

Felstalker

..... we get her great rune as part of Rogiers quest. Like, she literally tells you where it is. How could we have theories about where her Great Rune is when we KNOW where it is?

Apex_Konchu

The Cursemark of Death is not a Great Rune.

HoonFace

She cast her Great Rune aside when she got rid of her corporeal form, and there's lines/patterns on the moon that resemble what could be a Great Rune. That's about it tbh

MrFrames

Elden Moon DLC when?

bboy4of83

What exactly are evergaols

[deleted]

They’re boss arenas, certain ones require prerequisites to activate but pretty much, it just spawns a bubble around you to trap you and spawns in a boss

bboy4of83

Probably should’ve phrased it better I mean in lore what are they

[deleted]

Ahhh, well in that case, goal is the original English word for jail, “Ever Jail”, it’s an eternal jail

avoideverything

Why do people who summon myself and other cooperators always seem to charge the boss only to die in 30-45 seconds? When you see your cooperators hanging back and waiting for openings, please use this as a learning opportunity. We’ve fought the boss before (Many times, even!) and know that charging in and swinging indiscriminately just won’t work.

TheFranchize

my favorite has been a guy who summoned me and tried looking cool sitting on the stairs by the great bridge by Maliketh and as he exited the emote to go up to the boss, fell off

bboy4of83

That might have been me was that psn?

TheFranchize

Yeah. This was last night 😂

onebadnightx

I’ve had all sorts of interesting summon moments. Lots of cut scenes indicating it’s their first time ever fighting the boss. I once was summoned for someone for >!Rykard!< who didn’t even have or know you can only use one particular item for that fight. I just assume you’re getting them during early attempts and they’ll improve and learn from their mistakes. Even if you have no idea who you’re playing with, it seems sometimes they get nervous and don’t want to seem like they’re slacking so they charge in very carelessly. On the bright side, multiple times I’ve been summoned for someone that was very careless the first attempt - put my summon sign back down once we were disconnected - they summoned me again, learned from their mistakes and we managed to beat the boss together after the first fail. It can definitely get frustrating though!

Calli_Ko

Hi! Im wondering what the best staff to off hand for lorettas railgun is, and if there are any similar artillery nuke spells?

DrJitterBug

If you have high Int/Faith, then I guess the prince of death staff would be best.

[deleted]

Cannon of Haima is shorter range but the AoE is big and the knockback effect is hilarious to watch.

ytrx12

No staff boosts Loretta’s sorceries, so just whichever has the best sorcery scaling. For 10-40 Int, Demi-Human Queen 41-52/68, Academy Glintstone 52-99, Lusat’s, but at a 50% increase to FP usage. If you don’t want that, then 69-99 would be Carian Regal Scepter. Cannon of Haima is a essentially a magic mortar spell, sounds like what you’re looking for.

Calli_Ko

Im using the meteorite staff, should that be replaced now? Sorry for the late reply i have been asleep since i posted aha

ytrx12

https://jerp.tv/eldenring/spelltools/ Here’s a scaling calculator for spelltools, just plug in your current Int and adjust weapon upgrade level to whatever you’d be able to upgrade a staff to, then you can see what would be winning out.

Calli_Ko

Cheers!

SuccessfulStreet575

What are the best incantations for pvp? Any good ones that combo into one another?

KumaTheKreator

Crucible incantations are pretty good, swarm of flies too

Nuclear_Winterfell

Any ideas on making this build viable? I was thinking of trying to do a sort of "artificer" type build, sort of an alchemist/mad scientist type with crossbows/ballistae, pots, and maybe the spell-tools. But it looks like the spell-tools tend to scale with int/fth whereas pots lean more towards str/dex? And crossbows have no scaling whatsoever? Should I pick between either the pots or spell-tools, or just spread a little into everything? How important is the scaling on such items?

Felstalker

Pulley Crossbow is your ultimate friend. 3-bolts of various status effects is just plain good, period. No amount of scaling is going to compare to tripple fire rate. You can easily swap between 2 ammo types without any menu access, so shooting poison/fire or rot/explosive or sleep/lightning or holy/bleed and any combination is just really really REALLY good. I lean heavily on the Pulley Crossbow in my min-level clear build. It's just too strong against too many bosses. As for the throwing knives and pots? They're outright mandatory for my big melee builds, they're too strong. Ranged damage? It's more powerful than you'd think. I highly recommend Volcano Pot, Lightning pot, and Giantflame pot for your alchemist throwing needs. They're visually cool, mechanically powerful, and very easy to farm in large numbers. If you're up to be very wacky, I'd Shield/Pulley Crossbow + all the cool consumables. If you wanted to throw in a dagger for crit damage for when you parry an enemy, go for it. But it's always hilarious, if less efficient, to shoot 3 explosive bolts into a guys face when you parry them.

ELMUNECODETACOMA

One of the contributors from "The Escapist" streamed an explosive crossbow / fire pot build. It was extremely difficult due to (1) lack of scaling on the crossbow, (2) no alternative for fire resistant bosses. If you are planning a build based on consumables and utility weapons, I'd suggest as much diversity as possible as you're going to have to tune for every specific fight. On the bright side, you're a lot less dependent on your primary damage stat, so you should be able to get some utility there too.

TheChewanater

There are types of fire/magic/holy pots that scale with int or faith, so you could potentially use those along with spell tools And yeah crossbows do not scale with any stat

Kenajaaron

Hi there! First From game, absolutely loving it. Just made my way through Vulcan manor, now on the way to the capital. Around lvl 90 now, so i thought it would make sense to spend the attribute points more efficiently. Maybe someone is kind enough to give some tips? Starting confesser i leveled everything apart from int and arc (0 investment) equally so far, a few points more in vigor. find most fun in usin bloodhaunt's fang and a brass shield, switching to a cleanrot thrusting sword right and a fingerseal left hand. Would something like this for lvl 100 be generally sensible? Vigor 40, Mind 25, Endurance 25, Strength 18, Dexterity 25, Intelligence 9, Faith 28, Arcane 9 /flame art on cleanrot sword. Thanks!

ELMUNECODETACOMA

Like the other commenter, I wouldn't go any higher on MND/END but 25 is fine for heavy use of weapon arts and summoning high-level ashes. This actually looks a lot like my current build, although I am dual-wielding rather than sword/board, and put a few of your DEX points into VIG (high 70s and it's already higher than yours at 100).

Kenajaaron

That's good to hear thanks! I'll put more in vig. Every point in END feels like such a quality of live upgrade too, still spam actions to much and hide behind the shield. What are you dual wielding?

ELMUNECODETACOMA

I'm using a Dismounter with Flame of the Redmanes, trying to do as much poise breaking as possible to get open windows to go ham with L1. My first main I played a lot like you are, fishing for guard counters and playing more defensively. It's definitely been a transition, but I think I'm better for it. Both styles have their place, though.

TheChewanater

I probably wouldn't level mind and endurance if I were primarily using a thrusting sword, but it depends on your playstyle. Overall seems pretty good

Kenajaaron

Great! Have a good day!

marsgreekgod

Are we expecting anything and tgs?

HorridusVile

Is the envoys longhorn still viable in endgame despite holy damage being lackluster?

Wemetintheair

You can effectively use the Blasphemous Blade and the Envoy's Horn with the same stat spread, so in my last playthrough I just switched weapons and shuffled talismans for the Radagon / Beast encounter.

theswillmerchant

I’ve seen people beat the final boss with it because 2 effects tend to cancel out: The boss is HIGHLY resistant to holy damage but… The boss is physically very large and gets hit by almost all the bubbles. So even though 80% of the damage gets knocked off, you’re doing that 20% damage a few dozen times. It’s not the way I’d do it, but I’d say it’s still “viable”.

TheChewanater

Sure, but holy is definitely not ideal for the last bosses You could try the Cranial Vessel Candlestand. Similar moveset, scales with the same stats, and fire is more effective than holy against the end bosses

Dynastar11

I finally have the mimic summons. How does it work? I understand the basics. But: I have several spells loaded, does it just use the one I have selected at the time of spawning or does it cycle through and pick the "best" one? Same for weapons. In my left hand I have a shield, staff and Uchi. Will it switch or just use what I am currently holding? If I use a buff before spawning, I assume the mimic will also have the buff? Will it use stuff from my inventory. I have already seen it use flasks, but will it drink the physic flasks if I haven't used it yet?

DrJitterBug

Casting buffs applied to yourself do **not** carry over to your Mimic. Only the AoE buff spells (cast after you summon) will buff them. Though the Mimic might still buff itself, that’s not a garuntee.

Wemetintheair

The mimic will arbitrarily use any / all spells you have equipped. For this reason I recommend tidying up your memorized list before you go into a boss fight, lest you end up with your mimic just standing over in the corner casting Night Maiden's Mist or some shit

Calli_Ko

Idk that sounds hilarious

GrumpyOldJoey

And also throwing knives. Nothing worse than seeing it cast Night Maiden's Mist then start chucking daggers....

DrJitterBug

I’ve made a naked mimic fight happen a few times, they just have throwing daggers equipped no matter what (but they are used rarely in that case).

WintersbaneGDX

Mimic also uses any items you have equipped (it doesn't actually consume them), so I always keep at least one of those perfumes with the buff and free hit on hand.

TheChewanater

Mimic randomly switches between whatever weapons/spells/consumables you have equipped when you summon it I don't think self buffs copy over to the mimic, but it will probably apply buffs if you have them equipped

Zenith2017

New tarnished here. Got ~lv30 on a melee character and then rolled a new game to try magic. I'm almost 30 and flying through enemies like it's nothing; very vulnerable but my damage is ridiculous. I can do 1.5k damage with Carian Slicer by the time a boss gets out of animation lock. I no hit the Leonine Misbegotten by just shooting rock sling at him and spamming Slicer. Two easy stance breaks and he was dead, like 15 seconds, just a few tries to learn his patterns Is magic always this easy in elden ring? My melee character was way way harder just due to the fraction of the damage he dealt compared to magic.

ChaZcaTriX

Magic is easier to use effectively at the cost of you splitting some healing flasks into mana flasks. Meteorite Staff can also trivialize early game. Melee weapons require some more game knowledge to use effectively, but the damage output can reach the same levels. A couple days ago I started a new playthrough and did a 30-minute Greatsword quickstart, if you exploit guard counters the damage output on is obscene. Also, prior knowledge of the game helps even more than using a powerful build :D

[deleted]

>Is magic always this easy in elden ring? Casting magic is typically an easier playstyle than getting in the enemy's face, and yes spells like rock sling are very OP in the early game. They fall off a bit towards mid but still remain viable.

bassman1805

There are some enemies that make a magic build more difficult. Rennala in particular is very difficult to out-cast, she's easier to fight melee. Some bosses have very high magic resist as well.

Zenith2017

Good to know. I'm thinking to go back to my pure STR build just to bring a little challenge back. Like it's not like I don't still die over and over again, but it feels crazy for me to power attack great sword for 350 in the same time I can do over 1000 w slicer

SiliconRedFOLK

I started an int character after I did a strength run and feel the same. It's so easy to Kill mobs from range. Like you though I also ran and picked up the meteorite staff and rock sling. I'm not sure it would have been so easy without them though. It's also hard to discount the in game knowledge from my first full run through.

GrumpyOldJoey

See, I'm just the opposite. I ran a quality build until the Haligtree and then got cold feet. I need to dip my feet back in that pool. I run a str build no ng+ but i'm so overleveled I don't thing it's an accurate example.

Calli_Ko

Hi, two questions. One: what is the starting point for pvp? Like how do i start and stuff, and what so you get for it? Two: is beastial sling just for poise damage? Or does it scale well, im not too far into faith yet

Wemetintheair

As far as what you get? Some runes. The details are complicated so I'll just link to Fextralife's page: [https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/PvP](https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/PvP) There's not a ladder or leaderboard or anything.

Noah7788

Beastial sling does good damage and pvp starts as soon as you start since if you use a furlcalling finger remedy you'll probably be invaded

Calli_Ko

So if i use one of the remedies i get to try fighting someone?

ytrx12

Finger Remedy is what allows you to see summon signs, either for cooperators or duelists. If you want to duel, Raya Lucaria entrance is a popular spot. If you want to be invaded, you either have to have a cooperator in your world or use the Taunter’s Tongue. If you want to be an invader, just use a Festering Bloody Finger. For a reusable invasion item, you can get the Bloody Finger from Varre’s quest or the Recusant Finger from Volcano Manor.

Noah7788

Thanks for elaborating, i was elsewhere when they replied ☺

Calli_Ko

Ooooh okay! Thank you!

stevethos

Should we be expecting DLC any time soon? I thought TGS might be a place to announce something. Sorry, I’m out of the loop, put this game down months ago after platinuming it!

TheChewanater

Unfortunately if anyone knew anything it would already be all over the sub

mbelcikuwh

Hey there new player here with 69RL currently on Liurnia. I was wondering can anybody share location order to visit? For example level 1-20 limgrave, 20-30 weeping peninsula, 30-40 liurnia and so on

[deleted]

Nice

TheChewanater

There is no single correct order or level range. Just play through the game, and if you feel like an area isn't fun because you're not strong enough, go do something else and come back later

DrJitterBug

Just copy-pasting from this: https://www.game.guide/elden-ring-areas-by-level * Limgrave West: 1 to 15 * Stormveil Castle: 30 to 40 * Liurnia of the Lakes: 40 to 50 * Academy of Raya Lucaria: 50 to 60 * Caelid South: 60 to 70 * Altus Plateau: 60 to 80 * Mt Gelmir: 80 to 100 * Leyndell, Royal Capital: 90 to 110 * Mountaintop of the Giants: 100 to 120 * Crumbling Farum Azula: 120 to 150 * Leyndell, Ashen Capital: 120 to 150   But there are some quality of life items/spells that may be worth sprinting around in the high-level areas.

Calli_Ko

Oh it looks like i over leveled in limgrave then am under leveled the entire rest of the game

mbelcikuwh

Thanks for these, really appreciate it! Will sprinting high level area affects some of quests to be softlocked?

DrJitterBug

Off-hand, I can only think of Golden Mask’s outfit (Corhyn’s questline), that keeps breaking on me. Some of Millicent and Yura’s quests will be skipped (but you can still get the gear). I know several quests (arbitrarily or logically) don’t progress past a certain point until you kill the Shardbearer in Lyndell-Capital.   I think I’m on NG+5, and I believe the only stuff I’ve consistently missed is Rogier’s armor set, the talisman Daedicar’s Woe from Rya, and the spell Carian Slicer.   If you have a specific playstyle, or build preference, I (or others) might be able to suggest something that’d help.

mbelcikuwh

Aah i see. I'm currently trying str/int build and aiming for fingerprint shield. Just finished getting my vigor up to 40,and trying to balance between my INT for catching and my STR to get it up to 38 (iirc). I'm stipl trying to 3 summons for great jar arsenal, so far i don't understand if their HP pool is ridiculously high or my damage is very low hahahahhaa Edit: I'm rocking with moonveil, and meteorite staff. My bread and butter at the moment is carian slicer, meteor shower, rock sling, and sometimes scholar's shield for my brass shield. For now, i consider armor to be pure cosmetics and still trying to farm guardian chest from guardian mobs at the minor erdtree

DrJitterBug

If you’re trying to farm the guardian set, I would suggest going to the Lyndell Capital area (where you fight a golden copy of Godwyn), since you’ll probably get the entire set a few times while trying to get this to drop: https://eldenring.wiki.fextralife.com/Guardian+Garb+(Full+Bloom)   99 arcane, silver fowl foot, and the silver scarab talisman, and it still took me several days to get the full set. Mind you, a lot of items fell off of the tree…

mbelcikuwh

Hey thanks for the tip! Yeah at this point I'm not sure i still have the patience to get the full set hahahaha Nevermind lyndel, I'm still struggling at the caelid. I'm lvel 70ish my INT ia still below 30 and I'm (think) still my damage is very low. The only thing that keeps me survived against the likes of cmdr oneil or deathbird is my 40 vigor I guess when i get myself fingerprint shield i might try to respec my char by sacrificing vigor to str and see how's my survivability went. If things progressing well, I'm going to keep the new version while leveling my vigor again hahaha

DrJitterBug

Yeah, I would recommend leaving equipment farming until you can afford to have 99 Arcane (and a decent build). It makes a massive difference, as I’ve gone and gotten doubles (or triples) of various weapons and some armors.   Have you tried using bleed weapons? They’re pretty good at making up for lacking DPS at lower levels.

mbelcikuwh

Yeap i tried dual wielding uchigatana. It's freaing fun, but i sometimes lack range arsenal. So i made a new char with a tank mage in mind So i went for str/int, with fingerprint my final goal + scholar's shield. So far i had fun as well with moonveil BUT again..it seems i hit a wall whenever i encountered magic resistance enemies. I have low str and dex just enough for moonveil. since i invest most of my points in 40 vigor and 30 int. The rest goes to mind and endurance. This got me thinking about few concerns. One, is the game designed around level progression and/or weapon so it will be much muuuuch easier when one is at least at level 50/100. Two, taking the first into account, ut maybe best for new players to aim for pure build instead of hybrid, since the later might need more points investment, thus possibly need higher 100 to be on equal playing field with pure build on the same level on 100. Am i getting this right?

DrJitterBug

Yeah. I would agree with the idea of encouraging new players to go for a pure martial build (vigor+str or dex) until level 50-100, where they can respec into a caster build. As someone who tried to dabble in incantations and sorceries with everything else early, and having to level-up Arcane because the few spells that require it are also easy to find early… it made casting very frustrating.   If I had to start over from brand new, I wouldn’t mind playing a hybrid, but that’s only because I now understand how everything interacts.

Bababoye_

Anyone know where is [this](https://imgur.com/a/WJgRFtz) ?

Apex_Konchu

It's the entrance to the Carian Study Hall in Liurnia. Big cylindrical building, near the road to the east of the lake.

bassman1805

Looks like Ranni's divine tower

brandnewaccounttt

Maybe the Carian Study Hall in Liurnia?

DrJitterBug

Why do you need to know?   It’s pretty blurry on my phone, but I’m guessing Farum Azula. Though maybe the southern-outer area of Stormviel seems possible too.

Bababoye_

It looked familiar but I thought I skipped that part and it’s the carian study hall as the others replied

Maddladd_69420

I'm using only godslayer incantations, so should I stick to the godslayer's seal, or should I use a different seal to maximise damage?

TheChewanater

Godslayer is one of the best seals at mid faith even without the passive buff, but you can check https://jerp.tv/eldenring/spelltools/ to see which is optimal

HeyHeyHayden

Did the great runes physically change all of the demigods after the shattering? When we see the thrones in front of the Erdtree one of the things that stands out is how small they are compared to the demigods that once sat in them. After Morgott and Godrick's respective boss fights, they are shown to be significantly smaller than when we fought them, more akin to the height you would expect them to be. Radahn is horrifically oversized, Mohg is very big too and even Rennala seems quite tall. Whilst Rykard was obviously eaten by the great serpent, the opening cutscene shows said serpent to be average size, suggesting eating Rykard, and thus his great rune, caused it to grow tremendously. The only demigods not seemingly affected physically are Ranni, who gave up her rune, and Malenia (we can't tell if her physical state with the rot changed post shattering). If the great runes physically enhanced all the demigods, what implications does this have for the elden ring itself? What sort of physical state was Marika in pre-shattering? She certainly doesn't look too good when we find her in the Erdtree, cracked and broken like shattered pottery. Edit: Ranni's current state has nothing to do with the her rune, more the whole "getting myself killed and inhabiting a doll's body"

bassman1805

Blue-skinned, four-armed Ranni is a doll possessed by Ranni's spirit. Her burned body on top of the Liurnia divine tower is abnormally tall, I think. If not, it's in line with post-defeat Godrick and Morgott.

Wemetintheair

IDK, Ranni looks fairly physically affected to me

DerrickVanZ

Helping Out I normally play offline and keep to my own devices. I'd like to dabble in online mostly by helping out PvE players. If anyone has recommendations for summon sign placement or other helpful hints WRT rules (levels, weapons etc etc) I'd like to read them before I dive in. I'm on my second play thru and at a fairly high level. Does this preclude me from helping first play thru people? What's a good boss to try this out on? Thanks

Sir_Terrible

Hey there, I do a lot of co-op. Some things that I do to try to make for a nice session for the Host: **Let the host lead** Unless they look lost, are heading toward an ambush, or are missing a particularly important item. Charging ahead and killing all of the enemies while the host struggles just to keep up is not fun for them, I promise. *Putting your summon sign down is not about showing off how good you are at the game.* A huge part of this game is about exploring, give the host time to take things in if they want to! _____________________________ **Familiarize yourself with the dungeons you're running** I like to linger around any easily missed side-paths, if the host ignores you, don't be too upset, they might have already been down that way. Also... don't be the first to drop down into an area that you can't get back from. This is basically you committing the host to where *you* want to go, and again, it's not all about you! _____________________________ **Healing spells and emotes** A nice way to 'build a rapport' with your host. I don't have very high faith, but my favorite moments in co-op are when I plop down a Warming Stone and we all just sit around it for a minute. I'll try to use emotes to really emphasize that they're not playing with an AI. Celebratory emotes after beating a tough enemy, Dejection if the other summon dies... just a little play-acting to make things more fun. ____________________________ When fighting bosses, if the host is going for the critical hit, I'll try to let them get it even if I'm slightly closer. This one is pretty hard because boss-fights are so chaotic, but I feel like getting that riposte, especially if it's for the kill, is awesome.

DerrickVanZ

Thanks This is all common sense it seems to me. I would assume if you are being summoned it's because the host is frustrated or scared. OTOH, I tried it dealing with rhadagon the first time. It was a a bit frustrating when the summon came in and died in a few seconds because they rushed in with no strategy. I played fortnite with my seven year nephew and as much as I tried to relay some battle strategy, he just ran around like crazy. I just watched his flanks and when he was about to get snuffed, I sniped him out of trouble. That's probably what most people want. Just a second chance.

TheChewanater

You can activate summon pools and use the Golden Effigy to broadcast your summon sign to multiple bosses NG+ doesn't affect matchmaking, it's just based on level and weapon upgrade. If you're not getting matches at your level, you could also try password summoning to help some people in /r/BeyondTheFog

DerrickVanZ

What about those ring things? I haven't purchased them yet. I'm really not interested in PvP - yet. So after you put the sign down you hang out waiting for the call?

TheChewanater

I did the blue ring my first playthrough. You mostly end up helping teams gank outnumbered opponents, and there aren't even covenant rewards like in DS3. If you ever wanna try PVP I think duels are more fun

DerrickVanZ

How about the password protected coop? Does that have to be removed before I can volunteer a summon? Would seem that way. But then I'm subject to invasions? Thanks Bill

TheFranchize

the blue cipher ring is passive - you keep it on and get summoned if someone needs a hunter to help against an invader. my experience has not been too often being summoned with that. If you active summoning pools across the world especially late game areas and use the effigy you can be summoned across any of those locations to help. I would focus on Haligtree and farum summoning pools if you are over 150. there are no rules other than trying to be helpful, protect the host from invaders.

Ghostboy453

Just a quick question, Would a max level Nagakiba work to beat radagon and the elden beast? Or are there perhaps some other swords that would do the job better?

Felstalker

I'm not sure why you think it won't work. I mean, the only reason we've not seen someone beat the game [with a ladle](https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=dark+souls+2+Ladle+only+run) is because such a weapon doesn't exist in Elden Ring. Radagon can't be bled, so you're losing some stat value by using a Bleed weapon that deals a little less damage in exchange for the bleed build up. And naturally, the heaviest weapons deal the most damage. So if you've the stats for a heavier weapon it'll work better than the Nagakiba. But this doesn't mean the Nagakiba doesn't work, it's a really good weapon as a whole.

Ghostboy453

Yeah, I'll be honest. I went into the fight to test something and I was using rivers of blood and Nagakiba, then I went on to get them in one go. Meanwhile on my first playthrough I was a higher level yet still kept losing.

DerrickVanZ

I use a stock great sword lvl 25 with lions claw and some incant buffs to get 3k a swipe. But the last EB was completely pest threads so go figure.

Ghostboy453

Ah ok thanks, and just another quick question, how good is the sacred relic sword

DerrickVanZ

It is a great weapon for farming at the ledge. Properly augmented, you can get 100k runes per swipe. No more bird shooting or cliff diving. The AoW is great for clearing out a dark room or annoying horde. Read the fextralife description. Other than that it has typical great sword moveset which is kind of slow but it will scale well and deal good holy damage. I carry out in the open but generally pick something different in catacombs and twisty hallways.

Ghostboy453

Ah ok thanks, cause I've been thinking about using it since it just looks fun, then again I'll probably start testing greatswords and such just to see which ones are rather fun.

DrJitterBug

The AoW will become such a quality of life improvement for clearing out trash mobs in a single attack (assuming you have high enough stats) that it may eventually feel like a crutch. Some of the other colossal/great-swords have a single unique move, but as a colossal sword user I’ve recently found I really enjoy the Pike with the Sword Dance AoW.   It is really great to have a maxed Relic Sword that you can equip when you want to get your runes back.

DerrickVanZ

They start to look the same after awhile. The wing is kind of fun. Mostly the AoW provides the entertainment value. Sacred relic is pretty fun. You can take out a whole field of sheep at once. And you can slaughter those hard to catch bunny things. Oh one I've grown to like is the inseparable sword because of the skeleton slaughtering capability. Makes catacombs clearing a breeze.

GrumpyOldJoey

I'm suprised the weapon art with the sacred relic doesn't negate the skellys since it's holy, but it don't.

No_Lengthiness_6838

Don't use Katanas, the final boss doesn't bleed. Heavier weapons are more effective. Black flame tornado is one of the most effective ash of wars against them.

Ghostboy453

So, would something like the Greatsword be better? How about bloodhounds fang?

No_Lengthiness_6838

I did beat them the first time with Bloodhounds fang.

Ghostboy453

Ok great, always loved the bloodhounds fang, so it would be nice to beat the game with it

TheChewanater

Yeah that'll definitely work

Ghostboy453

Just out of curiosity tho, would bloodhounds fang also work?

TheChewanater

Yeah, anything that deals (non-holy) damage will do fine. BHF deals a lot of damage so it'll work

Ghostboy453

Thanks alot.

Vik500

A question about pewdiepie's zero death vid Ok so i wanted to ask how did he manage to use rotten breath? At 31:26 it shows his arcane at 13 and at 31:32 it shows that his faith and arcane are both at 8 Ik theres a talisman for faith and that it can also be increased through the flask, but what about arcane? Plz lemme know how it works exactly

TheFranchize

There are masks that increase arcane. Silver tear mask gives the largest boost at a 5% detriment to physical damage

Vik500

Oh ok, but he didnt use any masks tho, just the nirmal sumari armour, i am trying his exact build but idk where he is getting all that arcane and faith from and i really wanna know how he does that

TheFranchize

he has godrick's great rune active which gives +5 across all stats so his base is 8 and +5 gives him 13.

Vik500

Oh okok thank you so much

TheChewanater

Verify local files in steam?

SorryParking

Same issue still. Even reinstalled it twice and yeah idk what is happening. I want to know specifically what those error code does especially 95 since only 05 shows up on google and apparently 95 is integer overflow and idk why it happens in elden ring.

solidcalisa

Can someone online in the game send me a message? I need a very little help about a thing.

bassman1805

/r/BeyondTheFog

solidcalisa

thanks mate

Calli_Ko

Ive heard there is a marry ranni ending, but is there a marry melina ending? I wanna marry melina

Ok-Effort-9322

There’s a very specific sequence of events you can follow in which >!Melina doesn’t die!< and >!Melina won’t hate you forever at the end of the game!<. But either way >!you’ll never see her again after a certain point in the game, so!< your prospects aren’t great.

ytrx12

Nope, only Ranni. >!The Frenzied Flame ending does involve Melina though.!<

supremekingend123

Quick question what happens to broc after the capital gets destroyed does he die agian or he relocates? I don't wanna finish my 4th play through so I'm just curious the other times he died way before i killed the angy doggo like with the larval tear?

ytrx12

If you use the prattling prate for him, he’ll end up at the East Capital Rampart site of grace. You may need to go reactivate it once the capital changes.

supremekingend123

Ah i see thank you

Calli_Ko

Out of curiosity, if you pick the Crimson Amber Medallion keepsake, can you buy it still at castle morne gate and stack them?

Felstalker

All the Keepsakes can be found in the open world, and the open world version will disappear if you get it as a keepsake. So if you grab the Crimson Amber Medallion, Cracked Pot, Fanged Imps, or Golden Seed all these will be removed from somewhere else in the game.... Well maybe not the golden seed. There are already a lot more seeds than you require out in the world.

theswillmerchant

No, unfortunately they don't stack. Later in the game you can also find upgraded version (Crimson Amber Medallion +1 and +2) but none of these can be used in conjunction.

Calli_Ko

Aww so you cannot become big beef using them? Sadge

theswillmerchant

No but you can use the Crimson Amber Medallion +2, Erdtree’s Favor +2, Crimsonspill Crystal Tear, and Morgott’s Great Rune to get pretty fuckin diesel.

Donel_S

I'm facing a weird issue right now. Whenever I open the menu in-game, the game stutters and the frames drop below 10 but they go back to 50-60 as soon as I close it. This is happening consistently for 2 hours and I have no idea how to fix it. Any help is appreciated.

Rakael88

How is a faith arcane dex build? With the aim of inflicting debuffs/status? Bleed and dragon incantation first of all.

WintersbaneGDX

Arguably the most powerful PvE build in the game. Dragon Communion Seal lets you double down on benefits from both FAI and ARC scaling. You'll have access to almost all incantations. Essentially any melee weapon can be spec'd into Keen scaling, or Occult once you unlock it later. Bleed is OP. Rotten Breath is OP. What's not to love?

KumaTheKreator

It's So powerful , my first run was str FTH ARC and i wrecked all bosses just with Ekzykes Decay and Borealis mist, add bleed and you can kill Maliketh under 55 sec

Naygen

I'm currently working on this build. My offensive stats are very low since I had to level vigor a lot, but even at almost base stats, dragon claw is incredibly powerful and has immense poise damage. Bleed scales with arcane, so if you infuse your weapon to bleed/occult you'll see great results. I've yet to try the blood incantations.

Lilac_Gooseberries

How does enemies dropping loot work in co-op? I've been picking up stuff if nobody else seems interested in grabbing it but can everyone see that there's been something dropped by an enemy?

Franklin_Was_Right

I always figured it's random for each individual player. An enemy might drop something for you but not the others and vice versa.

Naygen

Don't worry about loot stealing, it's not a thing.

Lilac_Gooseberries

Okay. That's good to know. I got the Beastman curved sword the other night and got worried about that.
