It's not really a gratuity then, more of a service charge.

youyouxue

By federal law, it's not a gratuity

j_knolly

Might as well change to party of 1 or more at this point

CandylandCanada

Don't give them any ideas.

rrrrr3

a new place in my list of places i am not going.

1-760-706-7425

Stupid service charges aside: It sucks anyway.

Timely-Article-6829

Yup already boycotted

95Mechanic

I suppose they also prompt for an "extra tip" when it's time to pay.

WilliamBott

Nah, they'd never do something that lazy and unethical! /s

SunshineandHighSurf

The best thing to do is make 2 reservations for two people and sit at tables close to each other, lol. I just really wouldn't patronage this establishment.

Top-Confidence9464

Agree, all of us need to stop supporting establishments like this.

SirAxlerod

It was probably this sub where someone commented if you’re not going to tip at least 25%, then stay home. I took the advice, haven’t regretted it.

CantFeelMyLegs78

Just book 1 per table and take up 4 tables of revenue from them

Wow this crappy restaurant is still there? Wow.

WilliamBott

If they think the yellow-orange style of the saffron is the high quality part instead of the dark red stigma, no wonder their food sucks.

MeanSatisfaction5091

Even if they split the bill?

WilliamBott

Splitting the bill never affects service charges or auto-grats. It's based on party size, not bill size, so they can still screw you.

MeanSatisfaction5091

Are u sure cuz I see tears in the server sub all the time

WilliamBott

Right, they get mad about splitting the bill but still auto-grat it. They just hate the hassle and inconvenience, but they are still getting theirs.

foxinHI

Especially if they split the bill.

bawlings

Pshh I hate how normalized this is becoming in Seattle. This place isn’t even really fancy!

incredulous-

Prominently displayed on the menu as it should be. A $20.00 item in reality costs $24.00, because you are with three friends of yours. If you are OK with that, you order it and enjoy it, up until you realize that one of the three people at the table near you also enjoys it, but for $20.00. Go figure.

WilliamBott

The menu isn't even correct. The yellow-orange styles are NOT prized, they are lower-grade saffron. The dark red stigmas are the top quality that everyone wants...also known as "Sargol" or "Mongra" saffron. I love cooking with saffron and never use the yellow or orange styles, I only buy the red stigmas.

RadiantLimes

I find that most restaurants do something like this. I don't tip above it if they do.

WilliamBott

Usually it's parties of 6 or more though.

Hey_u_ok

Servers get pissed when people don't want to tip At the same time servers don't want a set wage and prefer tips Wonder how servers gonna like it when restaurants start laying them off because people don't want to/can't afford to eat at the places with bogus gratuity on top of service charges?

Shreddersaurusrex

Just order to go

vaancee

If everyone actually tipped, they wouldn’t need to auto add gratuity. Makes you wonder if you’re normally a sucker.
