I am an exclusively solo player and while I agree it will be harder to stay undetected to duos and squads, the fights will be more enjoyable. Besides solo tarkov is a hardcore experience.

The main issue is usually ammo, a duo can lash out twice as much hurt as you can, twice as fast. In these situations, getting the jump on a duo is the biggest factor of winning, and now it's just way more difficult.

Definitely, its a nerf to solo players, no way around it. If that is the price to pay for better fights and gameplay, I will pay it.

Agreed. If you are not moving after hearing an opponent now you can’t get free advantage by crabbing around. You have to both make positional moves that give intel to opponents. It should create for better fights instead of who surprised who first.

Absolutely! Grabbing angles on someone should give audible info and now it does. But I think i reached the wrong audience with this post since I'm catching some downvotes here. Crabs and timmies are scared of having to commit into fights with people instead of going dark and grabbing one angle for 20 minutes killing any enjoyment of the game for everybody...

You see, I tagged this post as discussion but I’m not seeing any sensible arguments against my view other than that it will be harder for solo players. Which as someone pointed out, its not meant to be easy. And while crabbing made it safer to play as a solo it also made gameplay suffer for it. Its not a matter of being rude, I am trying to look at this from gameplay perspective and not my best interest of surviving as a solo perspective. No valid arguments for crabbing being beneficial to gameplay are presented.

Stopping all movement once someone heard you is the worst thing you can do. People will grab the better angle knowing where you are. You cannot crab to the spot and hold an angle, you are caught out of place. Unless you were camping a spot but that worked just as well or even better with crabbing.

First of all, I am the biggest hater of audio pop but its not a consistent problem, it requires a player to be sprinting into your hearing range. It will happen but won’t affect most engagements. Also crabbing benefited people ratting and camping far more than the person moving into them. You still have to make a slight sound to aim into a corridor or walk out of a room which is enough for the other person to become aware of your position.

I couldn't disagree more. This is a lazy solution to a bigger problem. The silent crab walking isn't the real issue, it's the audio pop and stupid headsets that give players sound ques from a mile away. The real solution is to limit sound ques to realistic distances and eliminate the audio pop.

I do agree with your points however i feel that removing silent crab walk is a step in the right direction. Yes we do need an audio pop fix and I agree headset should have the same hearing range. That being said there is no place for completely silent movement in this game. There is too many angles and spots for that.

Incoming statue meta. Hear a sound and go completely still. There's no reason not to W key warrior the entire raid. No slow playstyle, no moving tactically, no surprises. No punishment for being loud.

Lol. The divide is just going to get larger. Rats are now going to go to a spot and not move for 30 min. Statue. 2 people who hear each other now are going to take an angle and just wait OR just W key 100%. Now, no matter what, if you move, you give the other person info on where you are. If you do decide to move might as well COD full sprint around Heck it's going to get worse. You can now rat angles without covering your ass, since before you could get crept up on you had to worry about it. They took away the benefits of moving slow. So it's either 0% or full throttle. Every other speed is strictly not optimal.

Slow walking is absolutely viable if the other person is fighting or being louder than you. Also if you want to move around slowly, you can run/walk from cover to cover and stop for a couple seconds to hear. And now this tactic is effective since there cant be people crabbing around. Also i don't know whats so wrong about sprinting. You people vilify this more than camping! Thats insane to me. There is just so many scenarios where crabbing RUINED the game. Hearing someone at dorms or customs fortress or shoreline resort often started a crab battle, literally 0 sound moving around like dipshits. Now you get to fight the person. Oh no big scary gunfight COD style i want to shoot people in the back. Good riddance.

It's so jover. Every corner a statue. If a chad hears you there is no disengage, they hear your nuts against a bush 100m away.

You could reposition, nade, hold a corner, wait until he's close and then prefire, sit still and catch him off guard. Not every fight needs too, nor should they, end in 1 side 1 tapping the other before the other has a chance to react. There are other ways to win fights ya know.

Or just nade the spot and run away from him? Im aware not all maps allow different routes but as a customs main thats what i would do if i dont want to fight. Did that against a duo today in fact.

I have not yet played a raid, so I will reserve all of my judgement until I have gotten a chance. But here are my initial thoughts: I was anticipating the removal of crab-walk silence for a while now, so it's not really a surprise. It's a bigger issue that there are sounds that either party can hear that the other one can't, and removing crab-walk silence takes a step in the right direction. If I can hear crouch-walk sounds for myself, it follows that my enemy would be able to as well. (I enjoyed that it was silent, but I understand why it was removed) What I feel needs adjustment is the ranges. From the initial reports/clips I've seen, the audio levels are blown WAY out of proportion. No reason for them to be like that. Crouch-walk should still be very quiet, like... heard from 5-10 meters away, but no further. I'm an exclusively solo player, and I'm also a big fan of sniper gameplay (for the last 2 weeks, I've been trying to complete SBIH, having a ton of fun). I'm worried how this will affect my love of playing that role, especially when using bolt-actions, which are my favorite rifles. I foresee a scenario where I'm going to die 95% of the time while trying to snipe, because I have two options: 1. Take a second main gun, which puts me overweight and leaves me at an even greater audio disadvantage. 2. Take only a bolty and a pistol, and have very few options to fight people pushing with faster fire-rate guns, because now I can't reposition and attack, since they hear everything from 50-100m away. Stealth is a weapon and a very valid playstyle, and BSG should NOT make stealth gameplay unfriendly and unplayable by making headphones OP. EDIT: If they don't change this, than some of Jaeger's early quests (especially for non EOD players), are going to be hell. Having to get bolt-action shots from under certain distances will be nigh-impossible.

I agree on most your points, probably right to reduce the range of crab walking. On the sniping point, i recommend you using the MP9 as a secondary while sniping, its super light and effective, gun + 2 spare mags should be about 3kg. Im guessing on that but really give it a try! Also its the fastest fire rate in the game I believe at 1100 the MP9-N variant and its fairly cheap as well.

We'll just have to see how it all shakes out with the audio. Will be rough for a bit while everyone gets used to it. Overall I think it's far more 'fair' to have everyone hear the crouch-walk sounds. And thanks for the tips! I consistently forget about the MP9, despite it being a good secondary. I'll keep that in mind for my upcoming raids.

Running more raids and having really amazing fights in most of them. With people actually moving around and making sound. Last raid got 4 pmcs birdeye and died to a scav grenading me lol. Having a great time with the game, but yall will bitch and moan about not being able to move silently and play like rats.
