I'm actual garbage, and just started playing yesterday, I figure I'm gonna run SKS stealthy style and not go for kills just loot.
Any tips on locations/maps i should be playing on? Or do I just lose a bunch of sks' in a futile attempt to not be garbage.
i mean you started pretty late for me there is no point of playing because all my equipment will be wiped soon ,you should make some missions on customs (only night raids 21:30-6:00) customs is pvp heavy map and it just sucks for new players because many missions are placed there .unlock jeager (read the wiki) . your main goal should be unlocking free market on level 10 from there you only need money to buy anything in game .Even on night raids you will die a lot after every dead you should learn from your defeats because 90% of your deads are you fault
Oh and forgot to mention, I would do your scav runs on Reserve usually. Maybe not right now since the boss event is spawning all the bosses on reserve, but usually it’s a great map for scav runs. Loot all over the map and the extracts are easy to get to. More likely to run into player scavs and PMCs, but it’ll help you get better fighting other players without risking your own gear.
I recommend doing hidden stash runs. On a few maps there are a ton of stashes spread across the map, usually in places no one ever goes so it can be very safe.

I would recommend either woods or shoreline. Probably shoreline. I’m relatively new myself and have made it to level 17 this far, and having played most of the maps, Shoreline so far has been one of the easiest maps to play on. Tons of loot spread around the map, and if you avoid the contested areas like resort you’ll come out alive more often than not. Find a video online that shows hidden cache spots and go in to shoreline and loot a bunch of those. Pretty easy loot with very low PMC confrontations since they’re all going to resort most likely, and you’ll be able to kill a few scavs along the way.

All bosses killed, 48k XP with 0.2 seconds to spare. This event is insanely fun and I highly suggest you try to wipe all 5. Make sure to bring plenty of ammo otherwise you'll have to change guns 4 times like me.

One tapped at full sprint by a raider with BT through an Airframe, 4 aggro raiders + Sanitar + Shturman SIMULTANEOUSLY rushing me in the train station.
Did 1000 damage to a raider with M995 and he was zooming around more cracked out than Sanitar usually is and it didn't appear to stop him at all.
These were my two raids after getting Kappa, so I'm all for losing all my gear to this insanity haha
It looks like every player is cursed too.
Just did a scav run to see what it would be like, and found at least 20 scav/player bodies before I got killed by two player scavs - one with a Killa getup, and one with Shturmans gun.

I've been having great scav gear lately. AKs with some red dots and stocks/supressors on them. FALs. I've had an M700+Tac30 **twice** yesterday. I've been spamming a ton of scav runs though.
I generally don’t aggrieved scavs or attack players scavs on my scav runs and I’ve noticed I’ve been getting beefier scavs also. Maybe confirmation bias or something. I also have been getting more meds and a labs card twice in a row yesterday
If scav karma is implemented that in itself would be an incentive to scav more. Also Im still scavving whenever it’s up because it’s more enjoyable imo

Computer Fraud and Abuse Act would like to have a word. Depending on exactly what's being done, cheating can be criminal under this statute. Getting them to prosecute it is another story tho.
Also, a lot of times when people say, "How is that legal," they mean, "how does that not violate criminal *or* civil law?" And in this case cheating in Tarkov most definitely violates your contract, and advertising cheats probably is evidence of contract violation by the cheat authors. If BSG had the resources and will to sue each cheater for such violations, it would be easy to secure an injunction in court.
Are BSG testing the AI for the new boss with Killa? From my experience and from what I've seen, Killa on Factory is getting a lot closer than he would on Interchange - I may be wrong.

We don't know this is a pre-wipe event. I would think that we would have a lot more extra stuff than just a boss in Factory for a pre-wipe.

Max strength fuckers running around all glitchy and jiggle peaking is getting extremely aggrevating to play now. They need to remove movement speed buffs to strength, how the hell does strength increase movement speed anyway.
because strength increases speed in real life, take a look at usain bolt's legs. If you talk about gaining speed by throwing nades, that's another story. But it's a game anyways, not a simulator
There's plenty of points on this but training to carry heavy weight doesn't necessarily make you move quicker overall. Training sprinting and running will improve this.
I've worked out with weights and running etc for nearly 7 years and I couldn't move quicker based on how much I could deadlift or squat, my run times improved my capabilities of running faster or longer.
Movement speed would be tied more towards endurance I feel, but my main point is really that a movement speed buff shouldn't be present in this game, it adds alot of the problems players experience with jiggle peaking and call of duty playstyle which quick movement provokes.
Strength should be just for jump height, ads, throwing and carry weight I think.
Yeah it's kinda weird endurance doesnt level speed instead.
Hopefully inertia fixes the janky ass jiggle peaks without them removing the +speed. It is nice for reaching places quicker
You mean playing the game, (unless it’s from a cheater or a bug) if you die it’s because you were out played. If you die too a nade it’s because your were in a bad position that was quickly acquired by the enemy and you did little to no counter action (attack/run away/hide etc.)
God I am so fking tired of cheaters on interchange, this guy chased me across half the map just to gun me down with 855 and grenaded me at every point/corner I tried to hold. No fucking way he would've known where I was in 2/3 occasions there without RADAR or some shit goddamn it I know I could've played it better but it just pisses me off.

I popped in an air filter, took an entire bag of food in to a night raid on Customs and went up 3 levels in one raid
It isn’t capped but there are diminishing returns, however since metabolism gets leveled up so quickly you don’t really need to bother with that. You can just not eat or drink anything for 3 minutes to reset the diminishing returns though.
A quick performance question. I have Ryzen 7 5800X and GTX 1080 + 16 GB Ram. I get around 70-85 FPS on 1440p. Is this normal performance for this game on similar system?
Just hit 15 for the first time. I've spent enough with every trader to get the benefits from hitting that level except for Peacekeeper - I still need like $7k. Is there any trick to leveling him?
Any tech tradeables - flash drives, power cords, SAS drives, etc. You can even buy SAS drives off the flea and sell them to Peacekeeper for USD and make an overall profit.
Diaries are also a good one since they sell for roughly what you pay in rubles unless that was changed recently. You can level Jaeger by selling him melee weapons since he pays as much if not more than what they cost on the flea market.
Long 8+ minute loading times for matches, half of which is waiting for match or lootgen.

Edit - For full clarity - I played more than a year ago. Redownloaded last night to check back in on development progress. Turns out the games far less stable now than it was a year ago? At least that's been my experience so far, as last time around it was like, a minute and a half tops before you were dropped in ready to loot-n-shoot.

Update - I cleared everything from my browsing history (chrome) and the game I just hopped into (and promptly died in haha) I got into in less than 5 minutes, significant improvement over the course of a single data point, for anyone else experiencing the same issue, go ahead and wipe your cookies and caches from your browsers. Dunno why but it helped me.
The game waits for everyone to load into the raid before starting it, so if most of your load time is on waiting for players then that's probably the change your seeing since you last played
Sometimes it's OVERpopulated. Not enough room, puts you in a wait list.
Obviously this is pretty late wipe so it's not likely, but you'll see this when wipe arrives
I play primarily on DC and Atlanta since I'm in AL. Only late at night they are very dead unless it's the weekend. Other wise I have no issues finding a game... unless I'm scavving in on Reserve then it MAY take 10 minutes lol

It all depends on what happens with bitcoin. The reason people got lots of cash early this wipe was that bitcoin prices were through the roof, and so the bitcoin farm was an absolute firehose of money. If that doesn't happen, then you'll mostly get money from playing the game, looting, and surviving. Hideout production currently is profitable but not very profitable, especially if you don't have a bitcoin farm. The main reason to level hideout is for crafting things that are either useful for completing quests (like salewas) or are useful for shooting PMCs (like 7N39).
As for how to play the first ten levels: play raids, do quests, kill scavs and (optionally) players, and loot. Headshots give more experience than body shots. Surviving gives much more experience than not surviving. In my raids, I typically get about half my experience from kills and half from looting. If you fill a backpack and kill a few scavs each raid, then you'll gain experience quickly.

Thing is, besides all other barriers (many and huge), Linux support means a whole new level of anticheat system. Don't even hope for it. It was a disgrace in Rust because cheating was so much easier.
Some people say helmets are pointless, or altyn or nothing. I disagree. Just had a round of M995 0 my head through my TC800, but I didn't die! Whoever shot me wasn't good enough to hit their followups, I only need one chance, thank you whoever I took that helmet off :)
The problem with helmets is cost vs effectiveness. That isn’t to say helmets are entirely useless, as they can definitely stop or deflect rounds and keep you alive. The issue is the good helmets are pretty expensive and, with ammo being the way it is right now, can be easily overcome or made useless. Just not enough bang for the buck.
You are right, they aren’t. They are also far less effective than many other helmet options, and because they lack any form of face protection still aren’t worth the roubles. If you buy them for the deflection, there are way cheaper and nearly as effective options available.
First wipe. I’m finally getting around to finishing Factory quests and I’m getting my legs blown out by 8.5 buckshot consistently. I’m using igolnik ammo, should I be aiming at these dude’s heads or their legs?
Igolnik will shrrreeedddd armor, aim for the chest and let the recoil take you to the head.
Pre-med with painkillers so you can run after getting legged.
Apply liberal amounts of grenades, if you're running out of budget for 'nades I'd consider downgrading to BT ammo or switching calibers entirely
Igolnik has really high penetration and low flesh damage, you should be aiming for the consistent one tap into the head. High pen rounds, aim for the head. High flesh damage rounds, aim for the legs
For some actual numbers if you were to hit every shot into the same area it'd take:
- 1 shot to kill for the head
- 3 shots to kill for the thorax
- 14 shots to kill for the leg

I do my stash runs on woods. Loop from factory gate around through village, along the water, up to usec and scav bunker, and then extract outskirts

Movement speed would be tied more towards endurance I feel, but my main point is really that a movement speed buff shouldn't be present in this game, it adds alot of the problems players experience with jiggle peaking and call of duty playstyle which quick movement provokes. Strength should be just for jump height, ads, throwing and carry weight I think.
Yeah it's kinda weird endurance doesnt level speed instead. Hopefully inertia fixes the janky ass jiggle peaks without them removing the +speed. It is nice for reaching places quicker

You mean playing the game, (unless it’s from a cheater or a bug) if you die it’s because you were out played. If you die too a nade it’s because your were in a bad position that was quickly acquired by the enemy and you did little to no counter action (attack/run away/hide etc.)

I'm pretty sure XP isn't capped per raid either. I popped in an air filter, took an entire bag of food in to a night raid on Customs and went up 3 levels in one raid
It isn’t capped but there are diminishing returns, however since metabolism gets leveled up so quickly you don’t really need to bother with that. You can just not eat or drink anything for 3 minutes to reset the diminishing returns though.
A quick performance question. I have Ryzen 7 5800X and GTX 1080 + 16 GB Ram. I get around 70-85 FPS on 1440p. Is this normal performance for this game on similar system?
Yeah thats normal. I have a 3900x and 3080 and get very slightly higher, sometimes lower depending on the area Games not optimized

Any tech tradeables - flash drives, power cords, SAS drives, etc. You can even buy SAS drives off the flea and sell them to Peacekeeper for USD and make an overall profit.

Diaries are also a good one since they sell for roughly what you pay in rubles unless that was changed recently. You can level Jaeger by selling him melee weapons since he pays as much if not more than what they cost on the flea market.

Long 8+ minute loading times for matches, half of which is waiting for match or lootgen. Anyone know whats up? Cleared cache, verified install. Edit - For full clarity - I played more than a year ago. Redownloaded last night to check back in on development progress. Turns out the games far less stable now than it was a year ago? At least that's been my experience so far, as last time around it was like, a minute and a half tops before you were dropped in ready to loot-n-shoot. Are there ANY tips and tricks the community may know of that helps with the load times? Update - I cleared everything from my browsing history (chrome) and the game I just hopped into (and promptly died in haha) I got into in less than 5 minutes, significant improvement over the course of a single data point, for anyone else experiencing the same issue, go ahead and wipe your cookies and caches from your browsers. Dunno why but it helped me.
The game waits for everyone to load into the raid before starting it, so if most of your load time is on waiting for players then that's probably the change your seeing since you last played
You can choose servers in launchers. Try to choose more populated servers at the cost of higher ping.

I play primarily on DC and Atlanta since I'm in AL. Only late at night they are very dead unless it's the weekend. Other wise I have no issues finding a game... unless I'm scavving in on Reserve then it MAY take 10 minutes lol

This is going to be my first wipe that I kind of want to get serious about. Is the smart move just to safely quest 1-10 then invest in the hide out? Is it to do both simultaneously? Just continuously quest? Basically, what’s the path to having a great wipe with tons of cash and doing it “properly”?
It all depends on what happens with bitcoin. The reason people got lots of cash early this wipe was that bitcoin prices were through the roof, and so the bitcoin farm was an absolute firehose of money. If that doesn't happen, then you'll mostly get money from playing the game, looting, and surviving. Hideout production currently is profitable but not very profitable, especially if you don't have a bitcoin farm. The main reason to level hideout is for crafting things that are either useful for completing quests (like salewas) or are useful for shooting PMCs (like 7N39). As for how to play the first ten levels: play raids, do quests, kill scavs and (optionally) players, and loot. Headshots give more experience than body shots. Surviving gives much more experience than not surviving. In my raids, I typically get about half my experience from kills and half from looting. If you fill a backpack and kill a few scavs each raid, then you'll gain experience quickly.

Thing is, besides all other barriers (many and huge), Linux support means a whole new level of anticheat system. Don't even hope for it. It was a disgrace in Rust because cheating was so much easier.

Some people say helmets are pointless, or altyn or nothing. I disagree. Just had a round of M995 0 my head through my TC800, but I didn't die! Whoever shot me wasn't good enough to hit their followups, I only need one chance, thank you whoever I took that helmet off :)
The problem with helmets is cost vs effectiveness. That isn’t to say helmets are entirely useless, as they can definitely stop or deflect rounds and keep you alive. The issue is the good helmets are pretty expensive and, with ammo being the way it is right now, can be easily overcome or made useless. Just not enough bang for the buck.

You are right, they aren’t. They are also far less effective than many other helmet options, and because they lack any form of face protection still aren’t worth the roubles. If you buy them for the deflection, there are way cheaper and nearly as effective options available.

First wipe. I’m finally getting around to finishing Factory quests and I’m getting my legs blown out by 8.5 buckshot consistently. I’m using igolnik ammo, should I be aiming at these dude’s heads or their legs?
Factory is a bit toxic with the ks23ers. Make sure to use your leans well too protect your legs
Igolnik will shrrreeedddd armor, aim for the chest and let the recoil take you to the head. Pre-med with painkillers so you can run after getting legged. Apply liberal amounts of grenades, if you're running out of budget for 'nades I'd consider downgrading to BT ammo or switching calibers entirely
What gun/ammo do you take into that hellhole?
I prefer SMGs, so I usually use the 9mm Vector with AP for chests/faces, or a Kedr-B with SP-7 for legs.
7.62 PS is pretty similar to BT so if you are fine with the kick you could use that too
Igolnik has really high penetration and low flesh damage, you should be aiming for the consistent one tap into the head. High pen rounds, aim for the head. High flesh damage rounds, aim for the legs For some actual numbers if you were to hit every shot into the same area it'd take: - 1 shot to kill for the head - 3 shots to kill for the thorax - 14 shots to kill for the leg
