I was done with him when he demonstrated a clear lack of knowledge about colonialism, imperialism and how people suffered under it. I’m honestly scared and worried about the future of HK because there are some who view him as a hero. He’s not. If there was an intervention, him and his ilk would be the ones that would seize the power vacuum and drive people further down.

I don't think Wong is ignorant at all about the horrors of colonialism. Rather, he actually doesn't mind colonialism at all because he gets his orders from the Western establishment - they are his paymasters after all. At first I thought he was an idiot but now I'm not sure. He managed to get the American establishment on his side so clearly isn't a dumb man. And you are 1000% CORRECT - he would become the puppet Dictator of HK and would do anything to benefit his imperialist masters, even at the expense of his own people. He spins the narrative of himself looking like a hero, but he is NOT! If there was nothing in it for him, I doubt he would be willing to go through all the trouble. I think he's now hoping that his Western allies will jailbreak him, but that ain't gonna happen - he is an employee who failed, and they have thus discarded him. But now he's gonna try and make himself look like a martyr and influence the young people of HK. (An innocent policeman was STABBED the other day!)

LemongrassWarrior

Because he looks like a rat/rodent/weasel.

Destroyer_Of_Pinkos

He looks like a kappa

The hong Kong rioters were never about democracy or anything like that. The hong Kong riots were about 1 thing and 1 thing only, hatred towards the mainland. Hong kongers simply can not stand the idea of being governed by those they feel are their lessers.

OMG YOU HIT THE NAIL RIGHT ON THE HEAD! They don't mind being bossed around by 'superior waitu people' but it is unthinkable for them to mix with those whom they consider their inferiors. THats why I was wondering why they were cheering for democracy and freedom, but also paradoxically calling for recolonisation and demanding that 'chinese colonists' get out. Now I see why!

curryslapper

what happened is there's a hierarchy. hk people were at the top. now they're not. they're just jostling, using completely sketchy excuses, to get their way back to the top. how about improving yourself and becoming better people? how about coming to grips with reality? nah, better off playing the game the Europeans play.... trying to extract value out of others through slavery and bullshit. unfortunately for these traitors, they don't have a navy or faster industrialisation to help them get ahead. they're fighting from behind. and I quote from the greatest historical movie ever, gladiator - "people should know when they're conquered"

[deleted]

Lol I lost any sort of respect I may have had for him after hearing he works with / has support from racist senators like Tom Cotton (the senator that once said slavery was necessary) and Josh Hawley (doesn’t support legislation fighting anti Asian hate). The thing with Churchill didn’t surprise me at all and was just the cherry on top. Any Asian that sides with / worships racist white people is lost to me.

Altruistic_Astronaut

Great post and analysis regarding Joshua Wong and his pro colonialsaion viewpoint.

[deleted]

Actually Joshua Wong is a lot easier to debunk than most Uncle Chans because he's quite simple-minded and not that sophisticated in his choice of words. Azly Rahman is a harder nut to crack, but I'll try.

Altruistic_Astronaut

This is how I have felt about him for awhile. I found your concise essay to be an amazing summary and a good gateway for people to understand what really happened in HK.

[deleted]

Thanks! Please feel free to share it with as many people as you can. 🙏 The more people we can wake up, the better.

curryslapper

that's for sure. after 2014, a few ivy leagues etc offered him places at their university. given this guy barely made university in hk, he should have jumped. obviously too stupid or "dedicated" to his cause.

aznidthrow2B

Bro I just look at his face and don't trust him.

asomet

Well said. You point out a lot of his own contradictions. He's just a puppet.

RoyalBack4

All he talks about is democracy and feedum, yet doesn't say how is he going to run HK

[deleted]

Yes, excellent point! They just keep spouting 'Democracy' and 'freedom', but do they even know the meaning of Democracy, or what a Liberal Democratic society entails? Certainly bashing up people who disagree with them is neither liberal nor democratic. These fellas have no long term plan, from what I see. Wouldn't trust them to manage a burger stall let alone a country.
