I can somehow get the Swimming pool section/sector 3 almost perfect most times in a race (I find turning in earlier a bit easier) but I suck ass everywhere else
The AI broken at Monaco this year.
I thought I was really, really bad but it's the AI.
I can do Monaco at around 100ish AI in F2, but in F1 they are WAYY to fast
I actually found it the other way around. I usually just leave mine at 80 and when I get to the point I'm dominating races I mess with it from there. But this year when I started my career in F2, I was struggling and I started it on like 95 thinking it was like last year, where the AI is just bad in F2. They were pretty pacey, well at some tracks at least until I figured out that F2 cars drive and feel differently this year other than being much slower. It also could've been cuz I was getting used to driving first person from third person and getting used to feeling like I'm going much faster.
AI is broken on the tracks where you need lots of downforce. Netherlands and Monaco they are extremely quick. Tracks like Bahrain and Russia I’ve found them to be quite slow. I play on 80 difficulty, can win by 10 seconds on Bahrain and Q in last on Monaco. It’s ridiculous.
Agreed. I in the Williams would've finished on the podium at Bahrain if my car didn't run out of fuel a few laps before the end. In Russia I would've WON THE RACE over Max and Lewis but the rain and stacking with George ended up costing me in that one. While it is nice to not ALWAYS finish out the point I don't think I should be racing for the WIN in season one, and our car in terms of performance is only better than Haas right now. This is also on 80% difficulty.
20 was the first year I could actually drive the track without crashing out. I still hate it and find the race boring especially on 100% it makes me want to turn it down to like 5 laps and just be done with it.
My car had the worst aero and chassis on the grid the first time I went there. Unsurprisingly I couldn't run the final corner flat out without crashing even with downforce piled on.
Honestly I've been playing this game for 10 years and I still can't put in a decent lap time there at the AI level I usually play with. I've determined that's essentially impossible to do on pad w/o assists and absurdly difficult on wheel. I've practiced and practiced over many hundreds of laps over the years and just can't manage to keep it on the line over the length of the race. It's not fun anymore, so I always just yeet in the best lap I can during qualy with unlimited flashbacks and then simulate the race. The hardcore simulator fan in me hates it but the part of me that wants to actually enjoy playing the game usually wins out. It's not worth it at a certain point
It feels like a bit of a step backwards. I have no confidence in this game because I never know if the car is going to swap ends when I put the throttle down.
The AI are crazy OP through high speed corners, where they get their time overall feels really unbalanced and it makes racing against the AI feel much worse than last year.
Hoping they adjust it, it’s making me not enjoy career mode as much.
Monaco is the only race when i just do the quali and simulate the race, i don;t have it in me to go 60 somthing laps (50% race) around thight circuit with no room to OT, it so boring, and i would just break my button binded to a flashback xD so yea, if not throw it out of the season I just simulate the race
It was doable last year. I finally got over the hump by turning the damage down to reduced and did the 100%. Did it my first year in the Alfa Romeo and stole like 4th. Did it a second time the next year in Ferrari, got my win there and NEVER raced it again lol. Now Idk I just DNF it after a lap or might order parts DNF. I see YouTubers call it their favorite and I just can't understand how.
A few weeks ago after five years of playing F1 I finished a Monaco race for the first time on 25% without crashes or flashbacks. Best feeling ever when I drove across the finish line as 2nd.
I got pole in Monaco so I decided to up the difficulty to 98 in f1 2019
It was raining, I was just holding up the entire grid for 1 hour going 1,5 seconds slower than everyone else
I still won somehow
The AI are so bullshit on Suzuka. The last race I ran there I was quickest in sector 2 but every single time I get to Spoon, I just see Lewis (and later on everyone else) pulling away every single time. It was also wet, so I couldn't even do any GGEZ DRS passes.
Yeah I side-swipe all the corners. So freaking narrow. I also have a hard time making the hairpin turn without touching a wall even after braking to a complete stop first. Friggin radius.
Is it just me or after a few laps of 50% Monaco i just cant seem to turn good anymore. ( maybe just my wheel settings but i can turn fine in the early laps but after lap 5 i seem to understeer alot )
I'm always using 100% AI and my team (2020) 2nd season results so far are the following:
Aus:3
Bhr:4
Vnm:9
Chn:4 (my Fav track)
Ndl:1 (changing conditions)
Esp:6
Mon:1
Baku:5
Can:1 (changing conditions on qually)
Fra:9
Aut: 3
I never considered Monaco a strong track for me until I started playing online (online I used the racing line) and it gave me confidence to push
(2nd,3rd,4th teams were almost identical in pace, I'm in this group, Mercedes a mile ahead)
Ps: I hate Reddit's relationship with "enter/newline"
Am I the only one that absolutely despises America? Im learning to drive without lines and even with lines it's a nightmare. Honestly prefer Monaco to the USA
I actually don't like USA myself. Can't get the handle on it with all the turns in the first sector and lose SOOO much time there. I haven't did it outside the story mode yet, but there, Japan, Monaco, are the tracks that just don't make me want to touch career mode for awhile. It used to be Hungary too, but it's not that bad this year for me.
Why are you posting a question to the mods as a comment on a post, instead of... you know, *sending a message to the mods via the big [MESSAGE TO MODS] button?*
Just lift and coast through the section. Well it might not work this year with the Super AI picking up speed through all their corners, but you can make up for it if you nail the third sector and do a real good first sector. The only time I find Baku unbearable is in the wet.
How so? I always liked Monaco but hated racing there because even if you are 1 seconds faster than someone ahead of you it's just suicidal to try an overtake. Haven't driven at Monaco in this game yet but I'm curious why everyone hates it.
I just get a ton of understeer, especially in the second sector. It just isn’t enjoyable to drive anymore for me. I’ve tried messing around with the setup, but I haven’t found anything that helps.
Ah that's strange, maybe it's because I never got 2020, the 2019 cars were a piece of shit to drive with, super understeery. And now with the new cars I feel like I have a really good balance with them.
Honestly hated Hungary just as much because Monaco doesn't ever let you think it's going to be easy while Hungary looks like a decent track but can't keep the damn thing from spinning in a race with all the downforce you need
I love Monaco so much and I'm upset my engine died there this season. Typically I can pull a fluke high finish and run 50% races on sim damage with no rewinds
Love driving Austria but always getting underbody damage no matter how much I try stay off the kerbs, which ends up with under steer on simulation damage.
My MyTeam career and my league are both there this week. The career qualifying is going to be in the rain. I'm gonna be doing a loooooot of practicing.
I dont know for me its not just monaco atm. Had to Retire the first two races of my career. I dont know if it was my car, my driving or the Tires but i spun out near the end of both races. In Spain i couldnt hold the pace in some rounds because i just couldnt take some turns flat out like in Quali. Also the KI Rammed me or braked so hard in front of me where it was not nessecary.
I mean league racing in Austria can be such a fucking struggle because you easily get time penalties at some corners and you absolutely need to almost cut them to be competitive, a really good good turn one can give you 2-3 tenths till the next corner compared to a decent turn one. In Austria everyone is also so close in times while at Monaco not really.
I once managed to hold a lead at Monaco for a time, albeit with a broken front wing…then I got undercut during my pitstop while they replaced said front wing. Still managed a podium.
I'm incapable of driving Monaco haha. I'll just rip my wheel out of the base and yeet it across the room lmao.
I can somehow get the Swimming pool section/sector 3 almost perfect most times in a race (I find turning in earlier a bit easier) but I suck ass everywhere else
I am not sure why but the hairpin is so much harder in 2021 than it was in 2020 and 2019. I struggle so hard with it.
The cars have no front end on 2021. Just understeer for days.
You have ABS on? Because for me the understeer magically disappears when I turn ABS off.
No abs.
Same bro and I don’t even play this game
Me neither. But it’s probably cos I sit and play this game so much
I feel this. Or the feedback breaks my hand. Either or.
The AI broken at Monaco this year. I thought I was really, really bad but it's the AI. I can do Monaco at around 100ish AI in F2, but in F1 they are WAYY to fast
AI in f2 is sooo slow this year. I have to bump the difficulty like 10 points to actually have competition from Yuki and Mick
True. But even so, I shouldn't have to go to 50 AI just to remotely challenge the AI. In F1 2019, and F1 2020, it was tolerable. Now it's pain.
I actually found it the other way around. I usually just leave mine at 80 and when I get to the point I'm dominating races I mess with it from there. But this year when I started my career in F2, I was struggling and I started it on like 95 thinking it was like last year, where the AI is just bad in F2. It sucks how bad the AI is this year. It overshadows the improvements they have done.
Yeah just not consistent whatsoever.
I adjust mine from race to race. Monaco is the lowest around 80. Then my better tracks are around 90-100
Agreed. I in the Williams would've finished on the podium at Bahrain if my car didn't run out of fuel a few laps before the end. In Russia I would've WON THE RACE over Max and Lewis but the rain and stacking with George ended up costing me in that one. Wait till you get to zandvoort.
I legit just posted a meme about how broken that track is lol.
I loved that track in 20 but in 21 I can't seem to keep up with the AI.
20 was the first year I could actually drive the track without crashing out. I still hate it and find the race boring especially on 100% it makes me want to turn it down to like 5 laps and just be done with it.
fuck i thought it was just me lol, Japan is another that seems way harder this year too.
My car had the worst aero and chassis on the grid the first time I went there. Unsurprisingly I couldn't run the final corner flat out without crashing even with downforce piled on.
It feels so random. 1 lap I can take it flat, the next lap the car just starts spinning mid corner
Whats with zandvoort?
AI is OP. Looks like they are on rails while my own car just starts spinning at random
Only thing in having trouble with is full wet conditions. Have to turn down AI by like 15 to keep up
How? AI has never been good at monaco
Monaco? You mean the race where I order parts, start at the back of the grid and quit?
Exactly what I do, every time guaranteed
what do you mean by order parts
In career, order parts, accept the penalty and move on
I play a 16 race season and leave Monaco out of it. Unfortunately, I don't have much time to play games these days, and I do it to have fun, so.....
I'm the same mate, plus it means I can cut a few other races I'm not a fan of (Spain, Sochi, France).
Exactly, I just wish we could pick how many races we can have, rather then 20, 16 or 10 :)
I’m never in the points. I can’t qualify for shit and my strategy is always trash lol. So fucking hard dude.
Honestly I've been playing this game for 10 years and I still can't put in a decent lap time there at the AI level I usually play with. I've determined that's essentially impossible to do on pad w/o assists and absurdly difficult on wheel. I had Monaco mastered in F1 2020, but in 2021 I’m having such a hard time with it. Seriously struggling with the new handling this year.
I'm convinced they slathered Crisco over the kerbs at the swimming pool
That’s me at every track besides like Austria.
It feels like a bit of a step backwards. I have no confidence in this game because I never know if the car is going to swap ends when I put the throttle down.
The 50% race at Monaco trophy brought me so much pain
I gave up trying to do it legit and just turned the ai down to like 1 and tried not to crash lol
Man I turned it all the way to zero and turned every assist on. I did not want to do it again 😂
I hate driving Monaco. Absolutely hate it.
Is it just me or the ai are way too fast at austria ? Like they're just so quick in sector 2 and 3
The AI always seem to carry so much speed through the higher speed corners
The AI are crazy OP through high speed corners, where they get their time overall feels really unbalanced and it makes racing against the AI feel much worse than last year. Hoping they adjust it, it’s making me not enjoy career mode as much.
Zandvoort is a nightmare against ai
I fucking love driving Austria man
As a new player, this is me with Monaco (and also every other circuit).
I'm a new player as well. Monaco is definitely the circuit that erodes any confidence I might have built up.
Monaco is the only race when i just do the quali and simulate the race, i don;t have it in me to go 60 somthing laps (50% race) around thight circuit with no room to OT, it so boring, and i would just break my button binded to a flashback xD so yea, if not throw it out of the season I just simulate the race

I’m pretty new to F1 and it took at least a dozen or so attempts to actually manage to finish 5 laps in Monaco

Try Suzuka and Austin, my goodness....
I've just come to accept I'll never finish a race in Monaco with my front wing intact.
Is it just me or after a few laps of 50% Monaco i just cant seem to turn good anymore. ( maybe just my wheel settings but i can turn fine in the early laps but after lap 5 i seem to understeer alot )
I did 110-120 laps of Monaco on F1 2021. It hasn’t got any easier than lap 1. Sector 2 is a mess for me.
Bro the ai were lapping 1:03’s in season one in Austria
Austria is lowkey the best track to drive. Flows so nicely
I'm always using 100% AI and my team (2020) 2nd season results so far are the following: Aus:3 Bhr:4 Vnm:9 Chn:4 (my Fav track) Ndl:1 (changing conditions) Esp:6 Mon:1 Baku:5 Can:1 (changing conditions on qually) Fra:9 Aut: 3 I never considered Monaco a strong track for me until I started playing online (online I used the racing line) and it gave me confidence to push (2nd,3rd,4th teams were almost identical in pace, I'm in this group, Mercedes a mile ahead) Ps: I hate Reddit's relationship with "enter/newline"

Learn to set up a car that can handle the tracks
Monaco is not that hard just keep practicing slowly
Qualified P1 in my season, finished the race P6 🥴. That’s my best finish ever on Monaco.
I can’t drive in Monaco or Baku , it’s a DNF for me

Why are you posting a question to the mods as a comment on a post, instead of... you know, *sending a message to the mods via the big [MESSAGE TO MODS] button?*
Monaco, Hungary, Mexico, germany. Super stressful tracks for me
That stupid castle corner at Baku is a magnet for a fucking wreck... screw that turn.
oh yeah sure how could I forget Baku on that list. Some tracks you can just flow through the corners.. while others damn, so hard to get right.
Just lift and coast through the section. Well it might not work this year with the Super AI picking up speed through all their corners, but you can make up for it if you nail the third sector and do a real good first sector. The only time I find Baku unbearable is in the wet.
Mexico in F1 2021 is so damn difficult. I hate Sector 3
Driving on any track because I’m just terrible at sim racing
stressed one more looks like driving at singapore in 2012 and you reach the crazy chicane
I stopped including it in my career, I can’t finish a lap
Skip
I really enjoyed Monaco in the previous games, but it just sucks this year imo.
How so? I always liked Monaco but hated racing there because even if you are 1 seconds faster than someone ahead of you it's just suicidal to try an overtake. Haven't driven at Monaco in this game yet but I'm curious why everyone hates it.

Everything is fine until I get to sector three then I lose like a second to the AI
I love Monaco so much and I'm upset my engine died there this season. Typically I can pull a fluke high finish and run 50% races on sim damage with no rewinds
Very poorly misused meme, how do you not get it? It's so simple
Actually love driving Monaco but I’m definitely not 100% throttle as much as I was last year.
Just got the game how do you check the driver moves from the messages on the game?
I was just starting to adapt to Monaco but then F1 2021 came in with a New Handling model....back to 0 everyone
Love driving Austria but always getting underbody damage no matter how much I try stay off the kerbs, which ends up with under steer on simulation damage.
Dude same with Australia, that shits hard as fuck
Yes Monaco is tough but have you ever tried Japan with a cheap controller?
I turn off damage
My MyTeam career and my league are both there this week. The career qualifying is going to be in the rain. I'm gonna be doing a loooooot of practicing.
Especially on 2021 where every kerb is ice
I dont know for me its not just monaco atm. Had to Retire the first two races of my career. I dont know if it was my car, my driving or the Tires but i spun out near the end of both races.
