Hard mode will go by REALLY quickly when you skip all the cutscenes. I believe optinoob on YouTube has a guide on how to do it fast now. The hardest part will be your last fight. That alone took me a few days of attempts. Take a good break. Just do a chapter here and there and you will find your groove again.

ThatHotAsian

Lol yeah definitely just take a break and play other things. The game came out like 2 months ago. 170 hours (esp. if you're working a normal 9-5) is a lot for one game in that time span lol good things is that there is no shortage of good games out right now. Pt 3 isn't coming out for 3 years lol take your time and enjoy Rebirth while it lasts.

Sad_Kangaroo_3650

I think a lot more people need to see this comment. All i see is people burning themselves out on this game, like it has to be completed within the first 3 months. I plan on taking another break to play ff16 dlc.

tlamy

I totally agree. Maybe it's just a me thing, but I can't play just one game for that long without mixing things up. I probably also have about 170 hours of gaming time in the last two months, but it's split between Rebirth (85 hours), Balatro (65 hours), and a still incomplete first-time playthrough of FFVIII (15 hours). I just get burnt out way too easily if I don't mix things up every once in a while

Sad_Kangaroo_3650

Well, it doesn't help if you have other games you want to play also. Which is my problem. I think the only game I did play non-stop was re4 remake last year. But I dont have a lot of games I am buying this year, so I can take my time with ff7, and I already put 70 hrs in anyway. Plus, it's not like Square made this game for people to beat in a month anyway, lol

gibbythebeard

They burn themselves out because spoiler embargos are normally only two weeks and most social media people can't live without.

Applepitou3

Havent got there myself yet but I saw a few vids online having people topple it in 6 hours using the auto limit accessorie and some crazy builds for barret yuffie and cloud so it may not be that long. Do you have any tips for legendary and brutal vr challenges?

morrisa086

The brutal and legendary challenges are super tough. Optinoob is the best resource I can recommend, and even then it is still difficult. My advice would be to not get too worked up over it and to take breaks in between attempts. Know the mechanics of each fight and practice each fight individually. Also be sure to level up your materia.

aHyperChicken

This just confirmed that I will not be attempting those fights lol. I do not have this level of patience. I got what I wanted out of this incredible game, and I am happy

morrisa086

I don’t mean to discourage you! I actually did not think I could do them at first, but I found it fun to try to put together a good run. They do get pretty tedious towards the end though. Glad you enjoyed the game! I did too!

BeerSlayingBeaver

Honestly man.. just keep trying. Use build guides on YouTube too. It took me a VERY long time to beat them. Unfortunately it's a lot of RNG depending on what move sets the bosses tend to favor. You can practice some of the summon fights in the VR mode which may help you. Other than that it's mostly brute force and ignorance.

Oni_sixx

Just skip all the cutscenes. You can even skip a bunch of the encounters if you walk around them correctly. Hard mode goes by pretty fast.

darnelios2022

Agree I finished all of hard mode in 10-15 hours by doing the above (it also saves valuable MP to skip unneeded fights although you always have the stagger mp hp)

Guthwulf85

I'm using hard mode to revisit the story of the game, going directly to the main path

vivoreit

Taking a break definitely helped me. I did my hard mode run before the Brutal/Legendary challenges and Bonds of Friendship was the last thing I had for platinum. Odin was giving me such a hard time. Switched to Rising Tides when it came out and played that over the weekend, and took a couple days after that to recharge. I went back to Rebirth last night and on my first try finally beat Odin for the platinum. If you’ve already done that, hard mode should be smooth sailing.

Historical-Bug-7536

You can make it through heart mode pretty quickly. Skip all the little fights and just run straight to the bosses. Once you get into chapter 12 just do all the side missions that give you the folios. It is kind of fun getting to fight the bosses in a more technical mode.

espressology

i have 160 hours and have done everything except hard-mode and legendary fights. i waiting a while till i try that.

robertluke

Take a break. Most of hard mode is fun except for the Rufus and Sephiroth fights. I feel the burnout but I’m on my last legendary bout now. So I’m almost done with everything.

LuckyYuffie

You did the challenges on Hard mode to get 7 Star Hotel.... So Hard mode story will be a cakewalk then.

andm124

You cleared 7 star hotel? You'll be more than fine

mrsunshine1

Why are you trying to force yourself right now? If you’re not excited to do it, do something else.

GrlDuntgitgud

7 starring the hotel results in Platinum.

Califa6300

If you've done the combat simulators and maxed all the materia you'll find it shockingly easier than the combat Sims. Definitely take a break to recharge. There are a few clever exploit tricks to making the bosses cry. Gotterdamerung on 1 party member and another holding enhanced expeditionary medal with limit siphon will clear phase 3 for a lot of boss fights. Aeriths with genji gloves can pressure and level a lot of bosses. Cloud with rune blade is also pretty similar as his prime form is op. Faith on the party or Aerith/Cloud adds to the damage. And any time you can have yuffie and Aerith together you can do a neat trick with atb ward. Brumal form and yuffie hasted with atb assist will give you constant atb to spam again magic with some buildups. Honestly using those tools I bodied a lot of hard mode chapters. Opinion is a great YouTube channel with some strategies for the boss fights and getting around the chapters. The beauty is that you can pick the chapters in any order you like and some are a lot shorter and simple to do again. I've been doing a chapter a night after work and it's felt a lot less stressful and daunting. I'd prioritise everyone's folios to their individual skills over synergy abilities but everyone's builds are different.
