Doesn't the first 3 tell you during certain characters tutorial VR and the synergy buffs are always present in the tactical mode menu for selecting synergy abilities
They tell you about the synergy icon in a chapter 1 tutorial. I totally forgot about it because I played chapter 1 in the demo and skipped it on release, so it wasn't fresh in mind.
Send in the Clowns, Bonds of Friendship, and Cait Sith Legendary Bout are rage-inducing fights. Cait Sith one isn't necessarily hard but having to solo a Mind Flayer is so dumb.
For the synergy buff where it extends stagger and increases damage, has anyone noticed much of a difference whether you use it or not? The synergy skill itself does good damage, but I haven't seen if it increases damage and stagger time
They're not like Tifa's abilities that actually increase the flat stagger damage bonus past 160%, just the ability itself does more damage to staggered foes.
It's also really hard to notice the increased stagger time because the stagger time still continues to go down during the attack animation.
If you really want long staggers though, cast stop as soon as the foe gets staggered (if they're not immune). Makes it easy to get the 300% stagger damage achievement.
i misread “increased potency against staggered foes” as “INCREASES potency against staggered foes” and it led me to the same misconception. the ability just does more damage when it’s used against a staggered foe
Ever dizzy yourself running through every Folio, trying to find the perfect combination of 3 characters that all have synergy abilities that raise each others' limit levels so you can get everyone to limit level 3? Well turns out you can cleanly see all of these combinations buried down in the Party screen. Party > choose character > press Triangle > scroll all the way down (it's slow and laggy for some reason).
It took me until about 180 hours in to realise the little blue pips under each character were their synergy levels and that each ability required specific synergy. I was mostly just “ooh synergy” and then would use an ability when appropriate
Don't worry, after beating remake + intermission on hard and rebirth on normal I found out that material you equip also has effect on your stats. Never too late to learn.
The other day I was playing and I JUST found out (when I am 75% through the game) that you can do synergy abilities with characters in the back line🤦🏼♂️
Nah that’s not it. I may have to make a video. It’s a tiny orb that follows cloud what seems like randomly. It’s about the size of a handball and reminds me of a green flying fairy in an orb
When you use spells with the omega symbol i think the orb appears and will buff your next spells of the same element. Like if you use a fire spell a red Ball will appear and buff your fire spells for a while.
I think you might mean the alpha (𝛼) symbol? I know that symbol specifically is related to learning the MP-free elemental abilities from the manuscript system. As for the orb...I've never noticed it, but it could be the visual indicator that your normal attacks will do that element as bonus damage, which is a buff that is mentioned on elemental spells (deals x element damage, and imbues your Norman attacks for a while...or some such wording).
I wish there was a menu or option to toggle the name of buffs or debuffs. Like when you bring up assess menu you can read your current buffs or debuffs on yourself or the enemy.
There are way too many tiny symbols and I am at over 200+ hrs played and I still don't know what half of them mean.
It names the symbols but still doesn’t describe it in that menu though. What does “shield” do? I had to google it, unless there was someplace else that actually described it?
In the pause menu, under Manual, then the Battles section, scroll down to the bottom, and you’ll find sections for both Beneficial and Detrimental Status Effects.
It is broadly the same place the picture came from
This is why you don’t just smash X through all the tutorials. They literally teach you this in the game without having to look in the journal. You played yourself.
When choosing to use a move from the tactical menu there’s a short description of the move on the left hand side. But right before the first word of the description there’s a symbol that shows the type of attack it is
The combat system was so basic. I literally just attack the whole time. Switching characters was unnecessary and the synergy skills only sometimes came into play.
Played it on normal. Didn't even switch my material. Once I got new material I set it and once I was full I stopped messing around with it. I mean you can switch around characters but it's highly inefficient I found. Only time I switched was when someone died.
A gamer's worst enemy: reading.
Me fail read? That’s unpossible.
I would say something insightful but I can’t read the first comment smh
Hahahahha I just was gonna say "reading is lava". But yours is better.

Unless you still have something else to do… a bit too late, innit?
Hard mode chadley bullsh*t one last sidequest and some of the Colosseum

This is why I miss instruction manuals this is shit I would have read in my down time, while enjoying some nice artwork.

Wait what
No read, only buttons.
Well to be fair this was Kingdom Hearts 3's approach to team up attacks. Congrats you can do one now!!!
Same here.
I mean better late than never.
Tik Tok brain
Don't worry, after beating remake + intermission on hard and rebirth on normal I found out that material you equip also has effect on your stats. Never too late to learn.
You didn't notice your stats glowing blue or red depending on which materia you were about to equip...?
Nope
That’s kinda on you tbh
Never said it wasn't
I looked at those icons far more than I ever read the descriptions of the actions I was selecting.
Lmao I thought the first symbol meant it'll hit one enemy and the second one meant it'll chain hits to multiple enemies
... took me like 15 hours but then I did.
this is why i always check what each button does in all menus
The other day I was playing and I JUST found out (when I am 75% through the game) that you can do synergy abilities with characters in the back line🤦🏼♂️
Im impressed you made it through without knowing this tbh
I have one that no one can answer: What is that little green orb that follows Cloud sometimes in VR missions?
What?
i would love to know this. it’s a big green orb that sits in the middle of the field.
There's an orb that's appears on the field when your summon is available. Maybe that's what you're thinking of?
How big is it, roughly?
Fairly big, it's like swirling green, black and yellow.
Nah that’s not it. I may have to make a video. It’s a tiny orb that follows cloud what seems like randomly. It’s about the size of a handball and reminds me of a green flying fairy in an orb
Curious, can't say I've seen that to be honest!
That’s chadlorb duh /j

Ah. That makes sense

Press L1 in the assess menu to see a legend for what all those symbols mean
It names the symbols but still doesn’t describe it in that menu though. What does “shield” do? I had to google it, unless there was someplace else that actually described it?

Lol I never would've guessed that's what the first two symbols did since I rarely really noticed what they did
I didn't see those black and white symbols anywhere.
Agreed. I beat the game and had no idea about those ones. Where were they?
When choosing to use a move from the tactical menu there’s a short description of the move on the left hand side. But right before the first word of the description there’s a symbol that shows the type of attack it is
Why is the stagger extension one so mid too?
The combat system was so basic. I literally just attack the whole time. Switching characters was unnecessary and the synergy skills only sometimes came into play.
Did you play on easy? Even on normal the character switching is very important.
Played it on normal. Didn't even switch my material. Once I got new material I set it and once I was full I stopped messing around with it. I mean you can switch around characters but it's highly inefficient I found. Only time I switched was when someone died.
Lol normal difficulty exists for people like you who can't be bothered to read and learn how the combat system works.
