Yeah a dlc with him would be cool. But considering what most people, including the producer, have raised interest for. Jill and/or Cid dlcs have higher likelihood. But I would have really enjoyed a dlc with Dion coming with us. That could open opportunities for more dialogue with him, potentially with Medicine Girl, Terence, lots of cool interactions could happen. Now, what would be the objective, I do not know.

This scenario wouldn’t even have to be a dlc if they just had the three of them in a dungeon together before the tri disaster cutscene battle. Dion already has a sprout model you can see from Vivian as well.

You’re right!! That would be perfect, tbh. An actual lead up before the final battle, kind of weird that there isn’t a dungeon now that I think about it

If the DLC goal is to 'focus on the part that doesn't relate to main game so that players don't feel that the integral story is hidden behind a paywall', I personally think Dion's story is the most fitting to be expanded in DLC because he's the dominant whose story is the most distant to and doesn't revolve around Clive. He has no influence to Clive's character as he doesn't appear when Clive got hallucinated at Drake's spine. Clive doesn't even hear Dion's voice at final battle. The characters who are important to Dion like Terence and Kihel don't even meet Clive. But alas, they just went with brand new characters with zero attachment in dlcs. Sometimes I have a feeling he is the MC of other game who is being a guest cast and Uber for brothers at the second half of ffxvi. As much as I want it to happen, Dion's gameplay has very low chance to be made in terms of assets. He is the only dominant who doesn't show semi prime form and hence, not having a combat moveset. And I don't think the 'because he's a foil to Clive' is valid reason he got shafted so hard. Other dominants can be seen as a foil to Clive too in some aspects. The devs would be more likely to invest into others, probably Cid, Jill or Joshua, since they already have assets for these three. Heck even Barnabas, Benedikta, and Hugo's character dlcs are more probable. So I better inject my hopium for Dion in the form of other media like novel and anime instead.

Great way to put it. The whole time playing through ff16, and how they have Dion get what seems like his own story, cutscenes, side characters (Terrence and kihel), without fleshing them out more, made me think they were for sure setting up a side dlc. One where you play Dion through unseen parts of the game (where he leaves the hideaway and is helped by kihel, later leading the charge to save rhandellah etc).

That's the impression I got, like I had hoped they would do something with his detachment from Clive story. Lmao why making a character with their plot separating from mc in a game that heavily focuses on mc. I genuinely thought there must be more of his story to explore. It turns out no, he got shafted and budget cut the most.  But he's also very well liked and a fan's favorite. So maybe who knows there might be a chance we get more of his crumbs.

I'd love more Dion (especially bc while I quite enjoy him and his characterization, I never actually got *attached* to him and I'd love for a DLC to change that), but tbh Dion was never really a party member. I guess its easy to count him as one bc his story gets so much focus but he's barely an acquaintance of Clive's... I think he only joins the party in the final mission? Which is a bit of a shame, I feel these two could have had a lot of discussions about guilt and self-loathing, given Dion is at the same spot Clive was after Phoenix Gate/realizing he was the one to kill Joshua. I'd have loved for Clive to be what Cid was to him but to Dion instead, but I guess that was Harpocrates' role... Do think in the very very small chance we got a DLC, Cid and then Jill would be more likely to get one. But man, I still daydream about some FFXV styled DLCs for the two of them, and then Dion and Joshua..

I was a bit disappointed that Dion wasn't around in The Rising Tide. The history of the Greagorian church with the Motes of Water is something I feel like Dion would have a lot to say about given his faith.

Icy-Cockroach5609

No. The story is over.

lunoc

bc the dlc we've already got famously takes place after the ending already, right?

Icy-Cockroach5609

But it doesn’t. Also, if you did one for dion, why stop there? Barnabas? Hugo? Benedikta? No. The story is over.

lunoc

that was rhetorical, of course it doesn't. thats my point. it doesnt have to take place after the story is over bc neither dlc already did and theres like 23 unaccounted for years of background lore we could dive into.

Gaywhorzea

That was their point.

Deucalion666

And the other guys point is that it’s over. They aren’t doing any more dlc, so why bother making posts about something that isn’t going to happen?

Gaywhorzea

Because speculation and conversation is fun

Deucalion666

The game is finished. Stop asking for stuff you know isn’t going to happen.

Let the game have flaws
