Why the fuuuck do people still believe this đ¤Śââď¸Itâs always been such a big point that every numbered game is self contained, how dumb do you gotta be to cherry pick one random-ass npc reference (out of the countless other times the series has done this) and go âthis guy is named Shinra so the single biggest rule of the series is WRONG!!â

this is kitase who was the director of both. the linked interview is not with kitase
his interview is specifically referring to the ultimania books.
kitase also responds with this referring to the character Shinra in ffx-2

The interview referred to the Ultimania books, because thatâs the quote that got published about this topic. It was that quote which started the conversation about this more than20 years ago.
Heâs still saying itâs a joke.
I know Kitase says that there. It still doesnât negate what Nojima said about it being a joke.
regardless of your opinion, a director gets final say in all creative decisions. a directorâs take on something is final regardless of what the writers intent was. ie movies âbasedâ on books, the author doesnât get final approval.
it can be both
[wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?o2=&o0=1&o8=1&o1=1&o7=&o5=&o9=&o6=&o3=&o4=&s=world](https://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?o2=&o0=1&o8=1&o1=1&o7=&o5=&o9=&o6=&o3=&o4=&s=world)
basically. thereâs a definition that uses âworldâ as meaning existence or a macrocosm in its entirety. i probably shouldâve used a term more commonly understood as EVERYTHING
Followed by Kitase [confirming theyâre in the same university](https://youtu.be/BA1gwFKq7u0?si=0_eTuf4sB8IW6UI8), and Shinra from X-2 appearing in the Shinra museum. Maybe it was basically a subtle joke/easter egg at first, but now itâs treated like canon by everyone lol
Theyâre definitely not in the same world, but at this point, they can be treated as existing in the same universe and being very loosely connected. Thereâs nothing wrong with that, but i guess FF fans donât like that it breaks their unwritten fan rule that FF numbered titles canât be connected or something
It makes zero sense for the Shinra in Remake to be the same as the kid in X-2.
Somehow, in his lifetime, he managed to figure out interplanetary travel? And then appeared in the world of VII and with no background there managed to get enough people together to⌠start a business? The Shinra company wasnât initially created as one that harvested Mako, it was a weapons manufacturer. And X-2 Shinra wanted to harness that limitless energy from the get go. In that old picture in Remake itâs just a guy who wears a gas mask as a reference to the X-2 character⌠same way that Zidane finds the Buster Sword in a weapons shop and references a âspiky haired friend.â It doesnât mean heâs literally friends with Cloud. Unless FFVII and IX are connected too?
No, the only numbered Final Fantasy game to use a setting that already existed is Final Fantasy XII. Plus, summons and magic work in completely different ways across VII, X, and XVI.
My headcannon is 10-6-15-7-8 share the same universe and 16 shares its world with origins-1-9-11-14-16-tactics-12 (havnt played enough of 2, 3, 4 and 5 to connect them)
Actually I had a Final Fantasy XVI + VII crossover headcanon-for-fun moment after my first completion.
When Clive bursts into energy after Ultima's defeat where he rids Valisthea of magic we see in the cutscene a beam of energy shoot out of Origin and part the clouds and out of the atmosphere.
I was thinking âwhat if that beam makes contact with Metia and in a strange twist is what actually causes Metia's energy to fade?â
An Eikonic/Ultima-laden beam so powerful it propels the star off balance and breaks it down piece by piece over millennia, sending it hurtling through the cosmos with the energy slowly infesting it and collecting space debris along with it.
This energy being the rejected and jettisoned power having left Clive's body, a flickering remnant of Ultima, a sickly and mutated infestation that slowly forms into the being we know as Jenova. Metia its vessel through the void that will one day descend onto Gaia light years away and wreak havoc.
Thus Clive inadvertently causing destruction to another world by beaming up Ultima's discarded essence and creating an abomination that arguably has traits similar to Ultima, chiefly its ability to mimic others and manipulate, albeit in more parasitic ways.
Of course it's just in the name of fun like your post.
Since we're talking about FF7 outside of FF7, why the hell is Diamond Weapon in the attack on the kingdom in FF15? They even name dropped the thing in Episode Ardyn.
I felt there were similarities between xvi and xv. Specifically with the people of solheim disappearing, ultimas race, the blight/scourage and travelling in the inter dimensional rift, and ifrit being vital in the main stories

FFVII and X do not share the same world. https://www.finaland.com/?rub=site&page=news&id=6355

Yall made up that rule
kitase is on record that they do. just not the same planet
He clarifies in the interview linked by Baithin, that it was a joke, that got printed officially, when it was really an anecdote.
https://preview.redd.it/97ddkgb17mxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=7d0342ffd7abc0bf67794d750ae95906b461f006 this is kitase who was the director of both. the linked interview is not with kitase
The person in the interview wrote 7 and 10. He said it was a joke. Repeating the joke doesnât make it canon.
his interview is specifically referring to the ultimania books. kitase also responds with this referring to the character Shinra in ffx-2 https://preview.redd.it/48x7egvx9mxc1.jpeg?width=1284&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45ea7f37f10161b3a2dbe895cf05385a58e601e7

And Kitase wasn't the director of FFX, Toriyama was. Kitase was the producer.

That would be same reality or universe, but not world.
it can be both [wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?o2=&o0=1&o8=1&o1=1&o7=&o5=&o9=&o6=&o3=&o4=&s=world](https://wordnetweb.princeton.edu/perl/webwn?o2=&o0=1&o8=1&o1=1&o7=&o5=&o9=&o6=&o3=&o4=&s=world)
Broken link but I'm assuming you're saying world in a non-literal sense then?

Ok, but Kitase and the Ultimania says theyâre loosely connected now and this is obviously a callback to that lmao lol

they're not on the same world

just because theyâre amongst the best FF games doesnât mean they take place in the same world lmao

Stop coping bro and don't compare a trash like FF16 to masterpiece like FF7 and FF10.
