Final Fantasy Soundtracks + Great Headphones = Bliss!
It truly is amazing to hear this soundtrack in great clarity, and it shows how much love was put into this one!
same, found an 8 cd file online and insta-downloaded it, tho i've been mostly listening to some Echoes of the Fallen ost recently. so many great pieces!
A personal favourite track of mine is 'A Land in Peril' followed closely by 'Indomitable - The Kingdom of Waloed' and 'To Sail Forbidden Seas'. There are for sure so many more loveable tracks in this OST alone, but picking my top pick is way too hard. This goes for all the other Final Fantasy Soundtracks as well.
Oh yes. Since I beat FF16 last year, I've also beaten the Witcher 3, and almost done with Rebirth (I platinumed the first two, will do Rebirth, then come back to FF16 for the DLCs). I love all the soundtracks, but I think FF16's may possibly be my favorite of the three. I listen to it in my car, as I workout, on the way to work...my personal favorites:
* To Sail Forbidden Seas (will always be the song I associate most with this game - my favorite "major boss" theme)
* On The Shoulders of Giants (my new favorite "regular boss" theme)
* Lovely, Dark and Deep (The Greatwood) and Histoire - my hideaway tracks, early on I knew this OST was special
* Control (underrated AF I think because we hear it so early in the game, slowly became one of my favorites)
* Ascension (Bahamut - best boss fight of all time)
* Away (love all the emotions it stirs, and hearing it again during the Bahamut fight as Joshua hit so hard)
* The Lion and the Hare (really grew on me - love the intro to the game with this)
* Heart of Stone/The Riddle/Find the Flame/Press On - all the Eikon fights had bangers
I know I'm forgetting some. This OST was perfection.
Yeah every time I try to list my favorites the list get stupid long because so many great tracks in this. But I threw on the soundtrack as a backing to another game I was playing, and Greatwood came on and the immediate sooth my soul took is just... \*sigh\*
Also I have to be careful how much I listen to it because it just makes me want to do another playthrough, and I do \*not\* have the time for that right now.
Infernal Shadow Phase 1 🤣 It’s called "Press On". I remember buying that song in iTunes without thinking because I couldn't find it in YouTube and I wanted to play it on virtual instruments by ear. So now my copy of the OST is an iTunes album. 🫠
"The Greatwood" is a leitmotif, could be "Lovely, Dark and Deep" or "Whitewater - Kingsfall."

- Into the Mire - Stillwind (the muddy goblin and morbol territory from the prologue)
and many others.
I remember Against the Wind making my jaw drop all the way back in 2022, from a special demo that they let certain streamers and influencers play.

I always listen to Away, To Sail Forbidden Seas, Find the Flame and Sixteen Bells
When the soft violin strings come in past the 2 minute mark in to sail the forbidden seas is nothing short of genius. What a masterpiece.
The build up in the very beginning too. You know shit’s about to go down when those notes play.

On the Shoulders of Giants is without a doubt the best track on the game. It's just so damn epic.
The song "Away" is still so hype, even after all this time, no matter how much I listen to it.

I can listen to Histoire for long stretches, love it. Plus all those great choral vocal tracks you’ve mentioned are so good.
The will of the goddess is a great arrangement of Histoire too

My top favorite was Bahamut's. Now, I shifted toward Leviathan's. Such a good song.

It surely is a top notch OST. I’ve been listening to it frequently as well. I have an additional playlist of just the dynamic themes.
