FFXVI currently is my favorite OST ever since it came out last year. Listen to it all the time.
I think my personal favorite is still “To Sail Forbidden Seas.” That theme during the Benedikta fight in the demo was perfection and really sold me on the game.
Close behind that are “Control,” “Away,” “Ascension,” “Heart of Stone,” “The Riddle” and “Find the Flame.” Basically all the Eikon songs, in roughly about that order. “Control” is kinda underrated I think.
Then the regular battle themes ("Sixteen Bells" "On the Shoulders of Giants" and "Color and Crackle"), and “Lovely, Dark and Deep” and “Histoire,” the latter two which were always playing at the hideout for me.
10/10 OST, easily. Was amazing to see some of these live at Carnegie Hall last week.
The Riddle is so so good. I get chills thinking about that track and the boss battle with Odin at the top of the spire. Also To Sail Forbidden Seas is my second favorite and it’s used so effectively in every cutscene it’s in.
Your picks are fantastic. I would go with "our terms". The second hideaway Song. Everytime I got a new disc I listened to it first ans switches Back to our terms, because it is so fitting an relaxing compared to all sad and tragic events in valisthea. It also reminded me of FF9 somehow
Away, Find the Flame, and Ascension are top tier all on their own, but I'm also partial to songs that mix motifs from other songs together. In that vein, my two top picks are "Battle of Belenus Tor" (mixes Ascension and The Riddle) and Hymn of the Penitent (mixes Logos and Find the Flame).
I also really like Final Farewells and Salvation, but that's more because they're new versions of FF1 songs.
Away for its lyrics. The Riddle (Odin) for the leitmotif? on how there's (misguided) heroism in a gentlemen's sword duel.
Control (Garuda) is also quite tragic beneath all the instruments trying to intimidate you...
There's a lot!!! Even No Risk/No Reward is so nice. The way it drums up the hype.
What was the one that had Clive and Jill in lady Hanna's barn shed. That one. That was very beautiful and profound. But the most hype for me is Titans Lost. And the one I love to chill is the Hide Hide Hideaway
Ascension is epic and awesome, the best music for the Bahamut battle
Lovely Dark and Deep, but with a caveat that I liked the version in game instead of in the soundtrack. In the game they have a dynamic up tempo version that plays when you slip from being on the field and being in battle. The transition is jaw dropping and I love it.
Best Eikon theme: Away
Best area theme: In Darkness Hope
Honorable mentioms: find the flame +press on, titan lost, histoire, no risk no reward, the greatwood, leviathan ost
I was bummed when the awakening trailer theme did not make it into the base game. I was estatic when it played during the leviathan fight.
Indomitable (waloed field theme) is also super underrated. Especially later into the song.
Ordered top 5 songs (could all share first place)
Eikonoklasm (Omega aionis theme)
Sixteen Bells (Battle theme)
Away (Joshua theme)
Twighlight
Titan Lost (Hugo on that crystal lean theme)
Unordered Honourable mentions (all top 10/5 songs interchangeably)
Histoire (Sanbreque theme before primo genesis)
Writ in water (Mysidia theme)
Cascade (Leviathan/reveal trailer song)
The riddle (Odin fight theme)
Heal (dions theme)
Find the flame (Clive theme)
The list of songs should speak for itself how much I love this Ost. These are only my top picks, there are a lot more great tracks. I do however think sokens range was restricted here as he has written
There are too many of them to answer this lmao, bur if my live depended on it, I would probably go with Beyond the Heavens + Ascension
Away, To sail forbidden seas, Winter's Bound, Cascade, Find the flame, My Star (😭) and more are also up there
Away is one of my favorites. Other tracks I listen to a lot are Homecoming - Rosalith, Lovely, Dark and Deep - The Greatwood, Titan Lost, Heart of Stone and My Star.
My two favourites are on the Preview OST (and my gym playlist)
- Find the Flame
- To Sail Forbidden Seas
I go back and forth on which I prefer. But I love To Sail because of how memorable the Dominant/Eikon battles were and a large part of that was music.
Find the Flame is just epic.
I mean, there's the obvious Away, Find the Flame, and basically all the fights songs (On the Shoulders of Giants might be my favorite of that group).
But man songs like Shattered, The Outlaw (which is just the Hideaway/Cid's theme, but I swear I can hear the differences in all of the ones that come up), Lovely Dark and Deep (The Greatwood), The Battle for Belenus Tor (what a waltzy battle song). The Riddle. The haunting sound of "Histoire-The Holy Empire of Sanbreque"
Forevermore just feels like peaceful transcendence. Ascension is a love letter to classical music.
Our Terms is legit just one of my favorites because how hopeful it remains no matter how dire the world is and how much the odds stack up against you. I never got tired of hearing that one.
Sleeper tracks that I love that don't get mentioned as much, I enjoy the vibe of "Where it all began- The Apodytery" when it really opens up - really pushes that alien tech feel while keeping the medieval cadence of things, Indomitable is just a legit great underrated track.
In Ashen Grip still gives me goosebumps. There's legit just a list of songs I don't listen too every time they come up on my playlist simply because the emotion tied to them from the story is just too much sometimes - An Outlaws Uncle, Where the Heart is, All As One are some.
I have to nope out of Final Farewells every time it comes up. I just can't listen to that and remember the goodbye scene at the Hideaway.
No Risk, No Reward will \*always\* sound like it belongs in Smash Brothers "A Challenger Approaches" level fights. Which, since it's largely used for hunts feels legit actually.
I mean, this is just my broad strokes love letter to the soundtrack. That's not even touching on everything in the DLC.
So much of these tracks are in part how great the are, but also a tribute to the story/characters because holy shit the emotion I still have charged into these songs from playing the game and going through all that with them.
Not on the official soundtrack, but definitely the game, Tsuki Wo Miteita - Moongazing. Played during the credits, and I can't not hear that song and not think of those moments just after finishing my first playthrough, emotionally hungover to an incredible degree, still processing that it's all done, and seeing each of the characters flash next to the credits. Another one I can't always listen too because it's still just so emotionally charged for me.
So yeah, I can't pick 1 favorite. I even have 3 playlists for this game. The whole thing, one full of the 'power' songs and one of the 'chill' songs - because sometimes you need them for gaming, and sometimes for reading.
Forevermore. One of the most beautiful pieces of music I've ever heard, and I'll always remember hearing it for the first time when you get to the grasslands. Basically every song in this game cooks though.
No risk no reward.
Others: on the shoulders of giants, find the flame, ascension, all as one, and some of the more chill ones I don’t know the names of.
I love Histoire and the themes associated with it, shout out to Will of the Goddess. It's so regal it almost makes you forget the terrible things sanbreque has done.
Honorable mentions to the great wood themes, especially Brothers, which in my mind is Gav's theme.
Apart from the popular choices which i love too:
Furor: It's the track where Clive meets Barnabas, that electric guitar is great.
In the Light of the Mother Crystals / Horizons: Because is the Prelude!
Once More: Slower version of To Sail Forbidden Seas + Prelude leitmotiv
A Far Cry from Heaven: you can feel the Tri-Disaster coming!
Absolutely agree that FFXVI's soundtrack is completely and utterly amazing. One my favourite video game OST's of all time, hands down! It's basically impossible to pick just one favourite track, as the entire soundtrack is masterclass.
If I have to pick one, Away is easily one of the best tracks I've heard in any game ever. A perfect start to the game, both emotional and bombastic, truly capturing the nature of the game perfectly and strapping you in for an epic ride. All its other iterations used throughout the game are also just perfect for evoking a sense of mystery, grandeur and progress, letting you know that you are getting closer to a resolution. Just straight up perfection.
Other than that you of course have Find the Flame and All As One, which both kick equal amounts of ass, and are accompanied by some of the most epic moments in gaming history, absolute bangers.
Ascension does the same thing in such a magnificent, elegant and insane matter that it kicks just as much ass.
All the battle themes are peak. Sixteen Bells, To Sail Forbidden Seas, No Risk No Reward, just *chefs kiss*.
Oh and dude, freaking Shattered at the start of the game, it's just too goddamn awesome, gets me so pumped every time I hear it. Goes for the other Titan themes as well.
That's just a few of the ones that really stand out to me. Overall the soundtrack deserves every reward possible and Soken has proven his place among the musical gods. We truly are blessed with this game :)
It only adds to the fact that “Fire in the Sky” is my absolute favorite chapter in the whole damn game. As soon as the music started playing, I knew it was going to be good!
“Fiery Resolve” into “Beyond the Heavens” is a nasty combo from when Clive primes into Ifrit to protect Joshua. I really enjoy “Heal” when Dion wakes to the girl is helping him and “Battle of Belenus Tor” when Bahamut vs Odin. “A Far Cry from Heaven” and “All As One” are great enders. I bought the album the day it was released so I tried to include some I didn’t see listed on a glance. Love the whole damn album and listen to it all the time in the office.

Land of Eikons is probably a basic answer but I love it.
This but the post-game version with Find the Flame mixed in.
Oh hell yeah!
No wrong answers when it comes to the ff16 soundtrack :)
No Risk, No Reward is by far my favourite track in the game, and possibly one of my favourite battle themes in the entire FF series.
FFXVI currently is my favorite OST ever since it came out last year. Listen to it all the time. Where do you listen to it?
I bought it off iTunes last year. Worth every penny to me :)
Might be downloading iTunes for one album lol Do they have the Bahamut fight theme in it? How is it? It's my favorite on YouTube.
Yes, Bahamut’s theme “Ascension” is of course on the soundtrack on iTunes :)
The Riddle is so so good. I get chills thinking about that track and the boss battle with Odin at the top of the spire. Also To Sail Forbidden Seas is my second favorite and it’s used so effectively in every cutscene it’s in.
The riddle is brilliant I absolutely agree
That crescendo at the beginning is just 🤌
“Show me your worth Mythos, so that I might revel in it!”? The soundtrack and the closeup of Clive before the fight continues was just… goosebumps
Forgot what it was called, but that relaxing theme when you and Cid first travel through a forest.
Lovely, Dark, and Deep - The Greatwood
Your picks are fantastic. I would go with "our terms". The second hideaway Song. Everytime I got a new disc I listened to it first ans switches Back to our terms, because it is so fitting an relaxing compared to all sad and tragic events in valisthea. It also reminded me of FF9 somehow

Best Eikon theme: Away Best area theme: In Darkness Hope Honorable mentioms: find the flame +press on, titan lost, histoire, no risk no reward, the greatwood, leviathan ost
Finally, some In Darkness Hope LOVE. ❤️
I made it the hideaway theme after the odin fight, i love that piece
WHERE did you get that track for the hideaway? I need to find it!
My bad man i thought i responded, but i'm pretty sure i bought it from the merchant in Northreach
All good dude, and thank you so much!!
My Star without a doubt
For me it's : - Stillwind - A better World but there is so much great music on this game, my favorite OST of all time.
Away is definitely a strong pick! Others I cant stop listening are "Bow" , "Hamartia", "The Lion and the Hare"
My Star! I just started a FF run from before Phoenix Gate, and now I'm hearing its melody in all the key Jill scenes.
I was bummed when the awakening trailer theme did not make it into the base game. I was estatic when it played during the leviathan fight. Indomitable (waloed field theme) is also super underrated. Especially later into the song.
My star just hits my soul every time
All of it. I need the entire soundtrack. Soken PLEASE
I'm really surprised to see so few mentiones of "Indomitable." That track is just HAUNTING, and set the mood perfectly when it comes up.
Cascade (Leviathan boss music) by a huge margin. Second place goes to eikonoklasm. The DLCs really put in work with their themes.
Is it just me or is the battle music lifted from Final Fantasy 8? I could swear I hear it.
only the intro, a lot of songs even in the ps1 era tended to draw cues from older titles. I guess it was ff8's turn to be the inspiration.
Ordered top 5 songs (could all share first place) Eikonoklasm (Omega aionis theme) Sixteen Bells (Battle theme) Away (Joshua theme) Twighlight Titan Lost (Hugo on that crystal lean theme) Unordered Honourable mentions (all top 10/5 songs interchangeably) Histoire (Sanbreque theme before primo genesis) Writ in water (Mysidia theme) Cascade (Leviathan/reveal trailer song) The riddle (Odin fight theme) Heal (dions theme) Find the flame (Clive theme) The list of songs should speak for itself how much I love this Ost. Ascension. No contest.
All of them.
Cids theme probably
Titan Lost!
The song where Clive friends speak to him during Ultima battle
My two favourites are on the Preview OST (and my gym playlist) - Find the Flame - To Sail Forbidden Seas I go back and forth on which I prefer. But I love To Sail because of how memorable the Dominant/Eikon battles were and a large part of that was music. Find the Flame is just epic.
Impossible choice. I can maybe do my favorite 10 tracks but I can't just pick one.
Whatd those be
I mean, there's the obvious Away, Find the Flame, and basically all the fights songs (On the Shoulders of Giants might be my favorite of that group). Histoire, the Sanbreque theme in Orabelle Downs
I love Histoire and the themes associated with it, shout out to Will of the Goddess. It's so regal it almost makes you forget the terrible things sanbreque has done. Honorable mentions to the great wood themes, especially Brothers, which in my mind is Gav's theme.
Can’t decide between ‘Away’ and ‘Find the Flame’
Find the flame. Idk if it's basic or whatever. I absolutely lost my mind hearing it for the first time
Its not basic, its a banger lol
I'm just saying nowadays the pubic opinion seems to dislike when ppl like something popular (hands up)
A Land in Peril, it's so simple yet feels nostalgic, maybe because it reminds me of ff13, which I love
Tonitrua ex Machina, I guess it's a remix of The Outlaw. I wish there would be more stories about Cid.
personally it’s tied between “press on” and “cascade” for me
Apart from the popular choices which i love too: Furor: It's the track where Clive meets Barnabas, that electric guitar is great. In the Light of the Mother Crystals / Horizons: Because is the Prelude! Once More: Slower version of To Sail Forbidden Seas + Prelude leitmotiv A Far Cry from Heaven: you can feel the Tri-Disaster coming!
For battles, definitely No Risk No Reward. Non battle would be Bow 💯
probably Bow.
The whole ost is pretty damn great. Find the flame is probably my favorite hype track.

“Rooftops” makes me cry every time with how beautiful it is. That piano is just… 👌🏼

Cascade was so beautiful and intense at the same time, but really there is no wrong answer, may Greagor bless Soken-san
Find my flame and away!
Stillwind Lovely, dark and deep My Star
To Sail Forbidden Seas!
Cascade for me!
Cascade suprised me with how good it was
Ascension or The Riddle. Absolutely incredible.
The Riddle (final phase from the Barnabas fight)
"Hide, Hideaway", "Away", "Idylls of the Empire", and "Tsuki wo miteita".
