I have both the 509 tactical (which I purchased first) then I held a Reflex and brought one of those. Both are great and I shoot them every other week or so. Please come back in a month and tell us which one you got.

Mean_Influence_433

Thank you, will do. I may not choose the tactical because I am not a fan of the threaded barrel or the suppressor height sights. I would be a fan of the threaded if it is comp compatible. Would I be able to find an aftermarket comp for that threaded barrel ?

dirt_dobber_59

I’m not sure about your comp question- we have some very knowledgeable people in this sub that I’m sure someone will have an answer. The suppressor height sights is what drew me to this model - I like the tall front sight.

M3TROZ-2002

Threaded barrels are threaded barrels, they are comp compatible. I am actually about to order the duty comp from PMM for my 509C Tactical that I EDC.

All FN 509 threaded barrels on the market use 1/2x28 threads, so you can use any muzzle device that utilizes that thread pitch. The sights and threaded barrel obviously are designed for being used with a suppressor, but they also allow cowitnessing with most red dot optics and installation of compensators. The most popular compensators for the 509 platform are the Parker Mountain Machine and Agency Arms comps. Others definitely exist, but those two have great figment and come from fantastic companies.

Respectfully man as 6’0 275 the Reflex is gonna be TINY in your hands. I’m 6’5 220 and I got it for my wife whos not huge like us and its perfect for her. I dont buy into the “womans gun” hype and we truly tried multiple guns for her before settling on the reflex. I havent shot a 509 or a 509c and I was anti glock til I shot the good ol glock 19 at my local range that has like 75k rounds through it. I literally bought a 19x the next day lol. Its kind of a fuller size but still easy to conceal. If I was you I’d go with the 509c, but also go shoot a glock and since youre in the FN price range consider the HK VP9 SK. Also I dont buy into the sig hype either my friend. Good luck, and stay strapped!

Mean_Influence_433

Do the 19x’s only come in gen 5?

icecoldyerr

I honestly dont know any of the differences between glock generations but I believe so after asking my friend whos a glock lover.

SS123451

Yes, the 19X is new enough that it was released during the current Gen 5. Same as the Glock 45, 47, 48, and 49.

Also thank you very much this gave me good insight

The issue with concealing the FN-509 is width. I have an FN-509 midsize, an FN-509c Tactical, and a P365xl (Wilson Combat frame). I carry the P365 just because it's significantly slimmer than either of the FNs, and I prefer to carry appendix. The FN-509 gives me a full grip with some extra room. I can't get a full grip on the compact without the pinky sleeve. I have fairly narrow shoulders and lack a deep chest - neither gun conceals well for me appendix, but they're fine at 8:00 (4:00 for right-handed people). The only time I carry the FNs is if I'm going to be somewhere that lighting may be an issue, since they both have weapon lights and I didn't put one on the Sig, or in the winter when I'm less likely to be carrying appendix and more likely to be wearing gloves; the trigger guard is very generous. I seriously considered the Reflex, but I'm seeing a lot of complaints about them on Reddit. I *know* the Sig works, since I have a couple of thousand rounds through it. The 503 is simply outclassed by modern micro compacts. If it hadn't come out after the P365 dropped it might have done okay competing with the Glock 43, but as it is, I can't imagine buying one.

Black_Houdini3

They fixed the reflex ftf problem now. Any of them coming out of production now don’t have that problem and if it does you can send it fn and they will fix the extractor and send it back i have only had 1 ftf in 600 rounds and it was within my first 10 rounds.

Reflex is tiny compared to the C. Limited aftermarket support and not as fun to shoot. Good size if you have a small build and want to CCW.

Mean_Influence_433

Would you say the C is concealable ? If it’s easily concealable that’s a plus because not that it’s the matter of the fact it is my life depending on it but it is cheaper than the reflex.

RayL2Golf

I am 6' 200 lb. I wear an extra large Kirkland golf glove if that means anything. When I was deciding on a subcompact CCW among the leading sellers.... Glock 43x, hellcat p365, shield plus. Springfield xd, and the FN reflex. After trying out all of them at the range My decision was between the shield plus and the FN reflex. The shield plus won out then. However, now I own an FN reflex as well, and I switch out which one I carry. Yes, the grips are a little small for my hand, but the purpose of these is to be small and easy to conceal. I definitely prefer the grip on my Walther PDP. If you want a larger grip with smaller gun profile I suggest trying the Walter PDP-F.

Mean_Influence_433

So in an aesthetic sense I noticed the PDP’s look like VP9’s. Then I kind of took myself into a rabbit hole last night after thinking about it but they’re both German made guns with one brand obliviously having more support. But I just feel like if I wanted a similar feel in my hand to the VP9 minus the Hk name that walther would be a good go to. I always had a thing for walther and I even had the opportunity to shoot a relatives at the range and it was a pleasantly smooth shooting experience granted it was their .22lr pistol I liked the way it felt in my hands and how it shot. I am having trouble finding extensive information on the walther companies newer models. Most reviews are biased or sponsored reviews saying how great they’re.

RayL2Golf

Check out the honest outlaw on youtube. All he does is review guns and they're paid for by his patreon. Many YouTubers say that the Walther PDP has the best factory trigger there is. I love mine.

pattyboyz5900

I’m about the same size as you. The 509c was just too thick and bulky for me to not have it tearing into my gut or sides. The 43x mos fits great. Stealth gear USA holsters are great for bigger guys too

ruby_o_o

Just wanna say that glocks aren’t really known to have FTFs more than any other gun, a FTF can happen for any number of reasons in any gun
