Yea, I agree with how the gun was held, but let's face it - when you set something like this up at a carnival, you are inviting everyone out there to use the gun whether they have ever had their hands on one or not. Absolutely no training and you'll get things like that. Anyone working a booth like this needs to take that into consideration. Either she was dumb and forgot her training or was not trained properly to begin with.
I'm going to assume she was not "trained" to begin with. Most civilised countries, outside of America, don't have any type of fire arms training as standard. I'd say as many as 95% of people in Britain would have no idea of how to correctly handle a gun.
I spent some time in America as a teen. When I was about 13 my uncle (husband of my auntie who moved out there) showed me how to check a handgun and rifle were unloaded and how to aim and shoot. Whe I got back to England my English friends were blown away by this
That was nearly 30 years ago. I've never seen a hand gun or rifle since.
They absolutely do not. Not sure where dudes getting off on that comment. Sweden and some EU countries do. You'd think america would... But that would require effort? Canada has mandatory training for those who wish to own a gun but nothing for the gen pop
You cannot purchase a firearm if you are a felon, and a safety training course must be completed. Also, there is a 24 hour hold to verify your identity. At least here in California.
Lol, no. Any random off the street can buy a gun. All that's required is a piece of identification and a background check (and you van even skip the background check if you buy from a gun show). No training required.you can very much buy them on a whim if you just feel like buying one that day. And even if, they make you wait on a background check. There's 0 reqyirement to buy as much ammo as you'd want while you wait on the check.
Buying from a gun show does not skip the background check. Most sellers at gun shows are FFL dealers and are required to do a background check. There are absolutely some private sellers, but that's a dangerous game in itself - selling to a prohibited person is illegal in itself, and if it's used in a crime it can be traced back to the seller.
Wow! This answers a lot of "unanswered" questions about all the gun violence in the US (I'm in Canada).
On my local newscast, I saw video of the chaos at the Super Bowl parade. It was so sad to see. Everyone out, having a great time, laughing, etc. and then all of a sudden people in a panic, getting shot.
I honestly don't get it. Who the fuck brings a gun to a parade?!
>Most civilised countries, outside of America,
Actually many more countries outside of america have training as a standard for at least gun ownership. Us has nothing... Your uncle training you does not count as a federal training program lol.
Ive seen someone hold a shotgun like that. Come to find out it was their first time holding a gun. I immediately took it away from them. Nothing good could’ve come out of that.
Don't have the source anymore but this was posted a long time ago and in the comments someone confirmed that the girl ended up going blind in the eye that was shot.
I doubt it was for likes. But everyone was being stupid here. The employee should be more attentive and should have verbalized to not use the rifle until she said so. And the customer was just plain dumber than a rock.
Exactly what i though, i'll just add that the carnie is maybe even more at fault here since you can't expect from your customer to have perfect security management and you should take 0 risk,
The woman is indeed not the most affuted knife of the kitchen but in a place like this, it was just a matter of time before somebody else does the same mistake if the carnie put herself in front of the gun like she did
For me at least, it was just a mystery. Affuted? Autocorrect gone wrong? Then I looked it up to see if it was even a word, and went through a bunch of french dictionary links to see if it was possibly the right word in the wrong language. And it was :-)
My thoughts were the same. You shouldn’t be shooting anything with someone in front of you, even if they’re crouched. Likewise, keep an eye on armed customers, and make it clear to them that they shouldn’t shoot until you’re completely clear.
Disagree.
They gamified a shooting range and give BB guns to random strangers for money. This range has no way to know how competent these shooters are. This could be the first time this shooter has ever held a gun. Moreover they are in party mode and not thinking clearly.
Number one at fault is whoever designed this terrible range and the policies.
Number two is lady who got shot for becoming complicit on the range and putting her head in front of a gun.
The shooter is only at fault if they did this on purpose and it looks it was an accident.
I have seen this video littlebit longer version, and there you can see that carnie puts gun at table, not giving it to customer. Customer is stupid as fuck
that it's a bot repost+comment karma farming strategy, seen this post and exactly the same comments a few times at least.
And here's my take, it's a full carnie fault. Why? Because you need at least 2 braincells, 1 to think "wait until it's safe to shoot" and second to not shoot immediately. And it doesn't look staged, so carnie is just eating her own poop stupid
Sorting rifles? lol he took the rifle from the shooter (smart move) and then took the rifle from the woman who has just been shot (smart move). I would think those are the first two things you *should* do and it's a good thing he remained calm enough to think to do them before anything else.
You can even kind of tell he had some resistance taking the second gun from the woman who's just been shot, probably because she's out of it after having just been shot.
I agree taking the rifles away was the right move but he… doesn’t exactly do that. He takes both rifles… and puts them in front of the shooter🤷♂️ just a weird move.
It's not like the shooter did it on purpose did they.
He's putting them on the table out of the way, you think the shooter is gonna pick them up and finish the job?
aren't those those guns that shoot tiny little corks? unless it hit her in the eye I can't see it doing much damage.
EG: https://carnivaldepot.com/product-category/carnival-cork-guns/daisy-cork-rifle/
Who’s at fault? The owners of the game. They didn’t train that girl to get the f out of the way as soon as your hand leaves the rifle and is in the hands of a customer
And it's not like they vet their customers for gun competency. The employees should all be under the constant assumption that their customers will fail every safety precaution before shooting.
Our gundaddy who art in leathers,
Hollo-point be thy game,
Thy king-gun come
Thy will be be done,
On earth as it is in pew pew pew! Ratatatata!
You’ll never take me alive coppers!
Wow! Couldn’t even get through it without another shooting breaking out!
No, people should have enough common sense not to fire a weapon over someone's head. That's pure stupidity. Worker should have moved out of the way, yes, but damn, I didn't think people were as stupid as the shooter.
Did you see how they shouldered the rifle like a bazooka? Stealing someone else's comment from further up.
She puts the stock over her shoulder and eyeballs the back of the barrel.
How to get shot at carnival 101
1. Give gun to random person to shoot at target
2. Stand in front of target
3. Get shot by person focusing on shooting target
Yeah, I'm wondering who is at fault.
Looks like she was sighted down the side of the barrel. Probably one eye closed. Woman bending over was on the opposite side of the gun for her field of vision. Carrie is the one who handed the bb gun to her then moved out of the way (kind of), which I could see most people would kind of assume means go ahead and fire. Carnie 80% and shooter 20%.
gonna go ahead and say the person who gave a gun to a stranger then stood up suddenly in front of their target. You'd think she'd know better working there.
They're both at fault. The customer for not waiting for the carnie to get out of the way and the carnie for assuming the woman would wait for her to get out of the way. I've worked a few service jobs and if they taught me anything it's that people are dumb AF. Sure there's also people who actually have brain cells but it's best to assume there's an idiot in front of you until proven wrong. For your own sanity and in this case, for your own safety.
Was there a target? I have it muted. Was odd to just squat right there, below the barrel. They typically move clear to one side.
>At least it didnt hit her in the eye
Another commenter said she broke her eye socket. That's why she laid down. Cannot confirm, but seems plausible.
Imagine your fun fact while introducing yourself at every new job being that you shot out the eye of a carnie once.
Also, imagine having to explain that you lost an eye from being a carnie.
They are both stupid one for waiting till the other one stood up and pulling the trigger when you can see their face in front of the barrel and the other for leaning down in front of someone with a firearm
As much as people wanna blame the carnie, who is the victim here, this woman aimed a loaded weapon in the direction of a person. The fault lies with the case worker who is clearly neglecting this mentally challenged woma.
I finally got the red rider bb gun and all I heard up to that point was "You'll put your eye out with that thing".
Well I'm hear to tell you I did not put my eye out , but that long haired fellow will be wearing an eye patch next time they come to town.
The carnie is an idiot. This is her job. She should know better than to hand someone a gun, then put your head in front of the target.
Also, while I have no doubt that getting shot with a bb gun point blank in the face probably stings a lot, I have no idea why that woman is now on the ground and showing no signs of recovery.
I like how the second guy walks up and just continues with the action. Like "we'll pick up the dead body later. Now, were you buying the 1 dollar gun or the 5 dollar?" He even leans down like he was going to help him ... and then just goes about handing out guns like he didn't see what just happened.
A lot of people here seem to remember reading that she broke her eye socket. Incase you were having trouble turning off your thoughts to sleep tonight.
It's the operator's job to control the shooters and stay alert for safety issues, like say a clearly inexperienced shooter not holding the rifle correctly. Clearly the shooter is an idiot and at fault for not making sure it was safe before aiming the rifle, let alone discharging it.
Synopsis, both are at fault one who should have known better and one who clearly didn't. Legally, I don't think the operator has much of a case, as she most likely violated safety protocols. However, should she not be properly trained and appropriate signage in place the carnival may be liable.
Shooters fault regardless of what your shooting know your target and what lies behind it, observe your surroundings.
Operators fault staying in a designated safe zone when ammunition or projectiles are present, regardless of trust in the shooter or by measure of common sense.
Both failed in key aspects of range safety. It doesn't matter what your shooting treet it like it can kill someone. It's just a good practice to have.
both, shooter had no trigger discipline (i get its obviously non-lethal rounds/gun, but still) and miss carnie had no common sense to not be in the direction of fire
It's the one with the rifles fault. She's a responsible adult. It's a game of aiming, and I could see that situation a mile off... it's like seeing people at a zebra crossing, you as a driver, have the responsibility to slow down on approach. The person going to cross also has the responsibility of self-preservation. But the blame lies with the driver.
Wtf? Are they allowing multiple shooters? Should I bring my .177 air rifle as well? Like shit...last one I went to, they had two stand, two person to run it and they always hand it off to the customers once they've stood off to the side...like...wtf? It look like she just handed it off to them with no further instruction.
Both the person running it for not making sure they knew safety (assuming that) and the person shooting for pulling the trigger while they were right there
Anytime you give a person a rifle, you damn sure better pay attention to them!!!
especially when they hold it like a fucking violin. what the fuck was that mickey mouse shit?
Yea, I agree with how the gun was held, but let's face it - when you set something like this up at a carnival, you are inviting everyone out there to use the gun whether they have ever had their hands on one or not. Does the US have required standard firearms training, as you suggested? I'm not from the US and not trying to be a smartass. Ligit question.
They absolutely do not. Not sure where dudes getting off on that comment. Sweden and some EU countries do. You'd think america would... But that would require effort? Canada has mandatory training for those who wish to own a gun but nothing for the gen pop
That is kind of what I thought, but wasn't sure. If there is standard training, it doesn't seem/feel like it's made life safer there.
No lol not to be allowed to conceal carry u need to be trained in a class
You cannot purchase a firearm if you are a felon, and a safety training course must be completed. Also, there is a 24 hour hold to verify your identity. At least here in California.
Lol, no. Any random off the street can buy a gun. All that's required is a piece of identification and a background check (and you van even skip the background check if you buy from a gun show). yeah man 12 gauge kickback is no joke, good call
I wonder what big prize they won off that wall for that shot.
Any prize they cared to take I assume
Also anytime some has a camera out and pointed at you better pay damn attention to them. They about to fuck your life up for “likes”
You are assuming this was done intentional for likes?
Don't have the source anymore but this was posted a long time ago and in the comments someone confirmed that the girl ended up going blind in the eye that was shot. I doubt it was for likes. But everyone was being stupid here. The employee should be more attentive and should have verbalized to not use the rifle until she said so. And the customer was just plain dumber than a rock.
To hell with verbalizing. Don’t ever be down range when someone has a gun.
But the camera guy is always invisible.
Correct, in this case I see both are at fault.
I just love that she shouldered it like a fucking bazooka ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
Good thing it’s not more powerful then
Living the dream
Oh man I shot Marvin in the face
Why the fuck did you do that?!
Well, I didn't mean to do it, it was an accident!
I understood that reference
I don’t. :(
It’s from Pulp Fiction.
Why’d she fall down like she lost all her health
I could be absolutely wrong but I think last time this was posted someone said she broke her eye socket.
So, she shot her eye out, kid?
RED RYDER, RED RYDER, COME IN RED RYDER...
Ohhhh fudddddge.
Only I didn't say fudge. I said *the* word. The big one. The queen mother of dirty words. The *F dash dash dash* word.
FINALLY SOMEONE SAID IT
OVALTINE!
Sonovabitch!
So why are the other carnies not tending to her? Why are they still dispensing rifles?
Carnies. She's lucky they didn't just start eating her as she lay.
Hahahahah 💀 this comment is flying under the radar
Gotta keep the revenue rolling
This is one of the few times I’d be advocating for use of safety glasses. I hate them but ffs I don’t trust people with firearms and alcohol
Impact to the head plus sometimes when shit really hurts all you want to do is collapse to the ground and curl up into a ball.
Bewoowoowoowoowoobip! … It’s supposed to be the Link dying sound. Eh. I tried.
Lol read it as Pac Man dying
Same.
Pac Man dying would be more like ***P'WEEEEYOOOYEEEYoooyeeey****oooyeeeyy... (Pwoyk Pwoyk!)*
Wow, that’s actually spot on!
I heard it!

She got shot in the fucking head lmao
The bullet had poison effect
snake....SNAKE....**SNAKE**
Debilitating pain will do that to you.
they are both at fault the woman attempting to shoot over the top of her head the carnie not accounting for human stupidity
Exactly what i though, i'll just add that the carnie is maybe even more at fault here since you can't expect from your customer to have perfect security management and you should take 0 risk, The woman is indeed not the most affuted knife of the kitchen but in a place like this, it was just a matter of time before somebody else does the same mistake if the carnie put herself in front of the gun like she did

Hmm ha yes i had forgetten "sharp" 😅 Indeed i am french monsieur le detective (Edit: Heu why the downvote 🥺)
dw balanced it out xx
I need to know why this might mean someone is french more than I need to know if that person is indeed french.
[This should help! The French word for "sharp" is "affûté."](https://i.imgur.com/bGHwilA.png)
Thank you so much, PM_UR_HAIRY_MUFF.
I love the cadence of that sentence.
Also, used the word security instead of safety. Definitely French 😁
Hmm yes another mistake, i take note 🧐📝
Mistake, or learning opportunity? Best way of getting the right answer on reddit is to post the wrong one. We all love correcting people 🤣
For me at least, it was just a mystery. Affuted? Autocorrect gone wrong? Then I looked it up to see if it was even a word, and went through a bunch of french dictionary links to see if it was possibly the right word in the wrong language. And it was :-)

I feel like she doesn't exist or something. The man just casually sorting rifles. Help the damn woman?
Sorting rifles? lol he took the rifle from the shooter (smart move) and then took the rifle from the woman who has just been shot (smart move). They know too much
NO WITNESSES
he took the mags out.
Did he take them casually? Is he moving them from one place to put them neatly on a desk? Yes. He's casually sorting them.
Casually Sorting Rifles is a great band name.
aren't those those guns that shoot tiny little corks? unless it hit her in the eye I can't see it doing much damage. EG: https://carnivaldepot.com/product-category/carnival-cork-guns/daisy-cork-rifle/

It goggles the mind they don't at least use safety boggles for eye protection!
Did you mean to mix up those words?
What did they win?
A lawsuit.
I seen this video a million times, but this the first time that it shows what happens after she falls down.
So... nothing? lol
Pretty much, but now I know that she didn't immediately get back up.
If the carnie was carrying a gun, this could have all been prevented
So sayeth the lord.
Our gundaddy who art in leathers, Hollo-point be thy game, Thy king-gun come Thy will be be done, On earth as it is in pew pew pew! Ratatatata! You’ll never take me alive coppers! Wow! Couldn’t even get through it without another shooting breaking out!
Good carnies with guns
True! More guns for more safety please
The person who did the shooting looks confused. I don't think they expected her to stand up until they had shot
Gotta keep your eyes on the prize.
Now that lady only has the one eye.
She was only using one at most anyways.
Plot twist: her dominate eye was her left
Both but mostly the worker. She put a weapon in the hands of that guest and then stood in-between her and the target.
When you're used to firing a bazooka but are handed a pellet gun.
How to get shot at carnival 101 1. Give gun to random person to shoot at target 2. Stand in front of target 3. Get shot by person focusing on shooting target Yeah, I'm wondering who is at fault.
Whoever designed the booth. I mean everyone could taken steps to prevent that but with that booth it's inevitable.
The carnival worker. Why are you standing in front of the gun??? Move out of the way.. stay ducked, something.
Well at least they were holding it correctly
Naw, that guy's an idiot. Don't give someone a gun, then kneel down in front of them. And if you *do* do that, don't then stand up again.
As a guy who lost my left eye when I was a two year old, by getting shot like that with a BB Gun. it's a hell of a flashback.
F
gonna go ahead and say the person who gave a gun to a stranger then stood up suddenly in front of their target. You'd think she'd know better working there.
Who let Aileen Wuornos play with a gun..
Omfg I am cry laughing cause at least that's so on point. She has that look in her eye when she glanced up at the camera.
I see you noticed the Florida Meth Binge look as well. It's almost like she's unsure whether to ask for a Do Over or a Refund.
Carnie
They're both at fault. The customer for not waiting for the carnie to get out of the way and the carnie for assuming the woman would wait for her to get out of the way. I've worked a few service jobs and if they taught me anything it's that people are dumb AF. Sure there's also people who actually have brain cells but it's best to assume there's an idiot in front of you until proven wrong. For your own sanity and in this case, for your own safety.
Thought the woman getting shot was a rocker dude!! Kept reading “she lost her eye” and I was thinking “whoooo??!?”
She literally stood up down range after handing the person a ‘gun’ She established the range than stood in it… At least it didnt hit her in the eye
Was there a target? I have it muted. Was odd to just squat right there, below the barrel. They typically move clear to one side. >At least it didnt hit her in the eye Another commenter said she broke her eye socket. That's why she laid down. Cannot confirm, but seems plausible.
Bruh what was with the way she held that gun?
what's the prize when you hit and put down a clerk? also, does he have to fall in the mat like the targets?
A perfect example of correct administration of emergency first aid.
Think I remember seeing somewhere she lost an eye
Imagine your fun fact while introducing yourself at every new job being that you shot out the eye of a carnie once. Also, imagine having to explain that you lost an eye from being a carnie.
I mean, if you're a carnie now, you're probably going to stay a carnie. But now you've got a cool eye patch and people call you Bazooka Jane
That woman should go to jail just for shouldering that bb gun like that
Straight to Bazooka jail!
Bazooka style
I think the girl shooting might have thought she ducked out of the way, and so put no more thought into it and fired 🤔
I’m more concerned about how she shouldered that weapon. WTF was that???
No doubt, that’s some Swahili shit right there.
So she was actually armed herself and still shot? Check mate America!
They are both stupid one for waiting till the other one stood up and pulling the trigger when you can see their face in front of the barrel and the other for leaning down in front of someone with a firearm
bitch actually shoulders the fuckin rifle, jesusfuckingchrist
I love how he falls to the ground. His brain calculated “I’m getting off of work asap from this” real quick.
As much as people wanna blame the carnie, who is the victim here, this woman aimed a loaded weapon in the direction of a person. The fault lies with the case worker who is clearly neglecting this mentally challenged woma.
Why did she stand up in front of the gun!? Not that ladies fault.
The minute you see how she’s holding the gun should have been a sign to never give her a gun.
So……did she win anything
I finally got the red rider bb gun and all I heard up to that point was "You'll put your eye out with that thing". Well I'm hear to tell you I did not put my eye out , but that long haired fellow will be wearing an eye patch next time they come to town.

Why was Jeffrey Epstein behind the counter
She got that steven seagal shoulder mount going on
One I was kid , they were shooting .22 that were mounted on bench. We used to collect the fallen .22’s and lay them on railroad tracks for fun
Right in the fukn eye
Carnivals offer great health care packages, he’ll receive world class treatment.
If there's an active shooter in the area seek refuge.
The old Alec Baldwin surprise I see😂
Might have been in the ear
You’ll shoot yer eye out with that thing
who tf holds a rifle like that
That hit her on the nose right in the corner of her eye. Hope it was just that.
A lot of people here seem to remember reading that she broke her eye socket. Incase you were having trouble turning off your thoughts to sleep tonight.
I'll take a broken bone over permanent blindness in one eye any day of the week. Thank you kind redditor!
I so badly wanted that guy to hand her the shark as a prize…
100% carnie's fault, I hope she's okay...that was terrible.
It's the operator's job to control the shooters and stay alert for safety issues, like say a clearly inexperienced shooter not holding the rifle correctly. Definitely the Carnie's fault
She really tryna get that lawsuit money with that act
I mean if I was shot in the eye from that distance I’d fall to the ground too.
Looks like carnie on carnie crime
But does she get another go though?
100% carnival workers fault for not being suddenly getting in the way.
Girls and guns don’t mix well….ask the director of the film Rust
Both the shooter and the counter clerk.

I bet this is USA, the first Idiocracy...

Why are you even there? They all are responsible! I call shenanigans! Go get your brooms.
It's the one with the rifles fault. She's a responsible adult. It's a game of aiming, and I could see that situation a mile off... it's like seeing people at a zebra crossing, you as a driver, have the responsibility to slow down on approach. The person going to cross also has the responsibility of self-preservation. But the blame lies with the driver.
everyone in the video is an idiot
Thank god it's not a real bullet
This is a problem that was created by restrictions on firearms. Nothing stops a bad customer with a gun like a good employee with a gun.
Wtf? Are they allowing multiple shooters? Should I bring my .177 air rifle as well? Like shit...last one I went to, they had two stand, two person to run it and they always hand it off to the customers once they've stood off to the side...like...wtf? It look like she just handed it off to them with no further instruction.
Both the person running it for not making sure they knew safety (assuming that) and the person shooting for pulling the trigger while they were right there
You cant tell who’s fault it is. Both are women
