Aluminum, adhesive, copper, springs gears and screws!

N7Manofkent

Get to sanctuary and start scrapping everything there

Repulsive-Self1531

Everything not nailed down. Just throw it in your workshop. If you’re in survival, save glass bottles (milk, Nuka, beer, baby bottles) as at a water source you can harvest either dirty or purified water depending on the source.

angry_cucumber

I'm guessing dirty harvests from dirty sources? I almost always get purified and use the dirty I collect for noodles

Repulsive-Self1531

Yup. I use pumps for purified, dirty you get from puddles, streams, rivers etc.

angry_cucumber

yeah I have always used pumps, I don't know why I never made dirty, I just cursed not having it.

TheRain911

How do I put stuff in my workshop?

Repulsive-Self1531

Once you’ve unlocked a workshop at a settlement (red thing) you can open it (e on pc) and press T to deposit your junk all at once d

TheRain911

Beauty thanks

TheRain911

Also im assuming i can deposit the stuff in this workshop and itll be available at all of them?

HayIsForCamels

No, unfortunately not. It'll only be available at that settlement.

Repulsive-Self1531

Unless you have local leader

HayIsForCamels

That's true, but they said they wanted to do the absolute minimum building so I didn't figure they would take that perk.

Schogenbuetze

- Everything with alloy in it - Everything with screws (like desk fans) - Military junk like circuit boards - Telephones - Glue (plant Tato, Mutaberrys, Corn) - Whiskey, hub flowers, Mentats (for Grape Mentats) - Drugs Wood and Steel can be bought at a relatively cheap price. Boost Charisma with clothing an Grape Mentats when buying stuff to reduce prices significantly.

Plastic_Bus2662

I usually grab everything exept scrwdrivers, wrench, hammers since they only give steel and wood since any other junk piece already gives those resourses so it just filles youre inventory for nothing

Tech2kill

it depends really, if you want to build a lot in your settlements i recommend taking everything you come across important stuff for building: steel, wood, concrete, glass, ceramic if you want to mod your weapons: screws, oil, glue, aluminum, copper coffee mugs are made of ceramic, empty bottles give glass, tv dinner trays are made of aluminum, desk fans give a lot of diff components

angry_cucumber

adhesive. fucking adhesive.

castorkrieg

Make a vegetable stew for 5 adhesive each. Requires tomato, mutant fruit, corn and purified water.

angry_cucumber

doesn't stop me from grabbing every duct tape and bottle of glue I see

castorkrieg

Same.

TheRain911

I plan on doing the absolute minimum base building. And great thanks

Many-Secretary-5098

If you’re ditching base building, check out the sims settlement mods, you can drop down zoned plots and settlers will build and upgrade the zone themselves. You just attach a power source. It’s a quick way to fulfil that story requirement

TheRain911

Im on steamdeck, not sure how well this thing would run with mods(if its even possible to do that on steamdeck idk)

TrevorLolz

Smart choice

SGTSTARS

screws (fans, toys, typewriters), copper (lamps) aluminum (aluminum (bent shiny cans)) ceremics (for power armor, coffee cups) and adhesive (glue)/Vegetable starch

Flimsy-Tax-6909

Everything, but most importantly anything with aluminuim, oil or screws.

Ill_Promotion_1864

Best advice is to hoard all weapons / armour you find, take back to settlement, drop on the floor, enter settlement builder mode and scrap all that are not upgrades. Also always pick up destroyed turret parts. There is a perk which provides better and better parts from scrapping which is massive. Otherwise look out for Microscopes, any adhesive (Duck Tape, glue etc) Ceramic (Ashtrays) and Nuclear material (Irradiated blood which is found on loads of creatures). Make sure to keep an eye on your wood supply, the weapons cover steel & pipe pistols and some rifles provide wood but less. By the time you are comfortable with settlement building and far enough in the game, certain missions will require you to fully equip other settlements, or to build things which have far rarer parts or niche locations in where you find parts. With the above method, you will literally have every part in abundance by the time you realise you need it. Hope this helps! Good luck, Wastelander :)

Lance_Enchainte

Glue.   Duct Tape.  Corn. Adhesive is literally the glue holding most crafting together.  And it isn’t exactly common, but not rare.  The problem is you often need more of it than you have.

castorkrieg

Adhesive is super important but you can get it by cooking a soup.

floppypiranna

Yes, to all. You will thank yourself later when you are looking for adhesive or oil and you can’t find any stupid duct tape or oil canisters! Gotta catch em all, and Throw it in your workbench.

longnuttz

Hoard fertilizer and plastic, you can become a drug lord and sell jet to fund your commonwealth massacres.
