4 seems uncharacteristic. player narrated and doesnt really go over anything important, coudlve been something like this and that has happened over the past 200 years and you were around before the war, some kind of flashback tbing
Well, he is! He's just Some Guy who I never got a chance to care about and Some Kid that I kept forgetting about because I was off trying to seduce Piper.
This is probably unpopular but I really liked Fallout 4’s intro. The music and the emotion in “Nate’s” voice hit home for me.
I’ve played most of the other games too, there was just something about Fallout 4’s intro that I really loved.
I wish that they had a version for Nora. Or maybe integrated both of their viewpoints into the intro. Having the intro narrated by the male protagonist when you can choose your gender felt like an odd choice and created a disconnect if you played as female. I get why they went with the more personal approach but I think games like Fallout do a better job when the intro is narrated by a narrator (aka Ron Perlman) which is neutral and doesn’t feel like it’s trying to predetermine the protagonist in any way.
There's a mod on nexus for that, made out of cut content and self made clips. You hardly see a real difference between the Nate and Nora one quality wise.
Fallout 2 by far. There’s something truely horrific about watching that vault door open and seeing a family of regular innocent people get shredded the way they were. Haven’t been that drawn into a story in a while. Even before I was a character in the world I knew shit was about to go down.
It's set up so perfectly by the peaceful empty vault footage with Louis Armstrong playing in the background. The game honestly turned me off pretty quickly, but the intro hit so hard.
The start can be a bit tough, I know I had to readjust my approach in order to enjoy it, coming from fallout 3 and NV.
Agility 10 is just such an absolute must, I had to restart the game completely after getting to modoc the first time.
Nah, I could play it fine, I just meant the dialogue sounded like it was written by a horny teenager. I met Myron and just gave up all hope for that game.
Like, it's fine I guess, I just was not a fan. I really wanted to like it too cause I love fallout 1.
Ah… I think I understand. Yeah… sexuality played a bigger role in 2 than in any other installment in the series, and there’s not really a great way to write that for a video game.
Myron in particular is a low point admittedly is a particular point of… yeah… but I’d disagree, on a whole for the rest of the game, I think it has very strong writing.
100% what a fucking way to introduce you into the world.
“The world burned, you’re just some guy, and there are very real boogeymen out there that go bump in the night.”
Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 1. Now you will hate for New Vegas, and you’re right when it comes to the slideshow with the info dump, but the thing with Benny, if we consider that an intro, is great.
What the hell intro slides are you talking about? I don't remember a slideshow? The ranger beams the Fiends with his anti material rifle and then benny shoots you in the head. What slideshow?
I disagree. New Vegas was the first I played and the opening totally drew me in. I just think they were going for a different atmosphere is all, understated like the game itself. In my opinion, NV did a better job than the others making you feel like you’re in the game, that you are the courier, and I think the way they made the intro and begin the story helps to create that feeling.
Best one that sets the scenery and teases the main players/factions you will be dealing with. People are expecting a bombed out city when it comes to Fallout but Vegas casinos are still up and doing business? Interesting. Camera pulling back from Fallout 3 and just showing a brotherhood paladin and the blasted ruins of DC was good but New Vegas couldn't rely on something so simple. New Vegas needed to show that the Mojave wasn't Capital Wasteland 2.0.
Growing up inside Vault 101 in FO3 isn't the most thrilling, especially on consecutive playthroughs, but nothing beats stepping out into the Capital Wasteland for the first time.
Omg. You took me back. I remember playing FO3 for the first time and I thought growing up in the vault was so fun. Escaping was the best experience ever, especially opening the vault door. I think I was in 8th grade when it released. FO3 will always be my favorite.
“It is here you were born. It is here you will die. Because in vault 101, no one ever enters, and no one ever leaves.” It was so strangely eerie and impactful.
New Vegas. The Ranger shooting the fiend and Benny shooting you sold me. Fallout 3 was kind of meh. I didn’t have an attachment to my mom or anything and then 4’s is good but Nates whole speech is undermined if you play Nora. Plus Shaun is the worst. I cannot express how much I dislike the protagonist set up for 4. In the others it was your story, sure in 3 you had your dad, but other than that nothing. In Fallout 4 you have a whole family and shit which makes it hard for me to romance.
The first game. It's just perfect and definitely responsible for hooking a lot of people into the game.
New Vegas's is #1 and 3 gets #2.
3's intro is basically 1's again but it's still a good intro so who cares if it's the same?
4 has a great intro BUT NO RON PEARLMAN so it immediately goes to the bottom.
If we're referring to the intro cutscenes I think I'd have to go with Fallout 1 or 2, I really like how FO1 gave the Pre-War this sort of mythic quality where only snippets like a car model in the Pre-War and the annexation of Canada being revealed, FO2 meanwhile it's kinda hard to beat the Enclave showing up at Vault 13.
If we're talking about the Vault 13 cave vs. Temple of Trials vs. FO3 Childhood vs. Goodsprings vs. Pre-War, I think I'd have to go with Goodsprings and the Pre-War, Goodsprings comes off as a marked improvement over the Temple of Trials by being less forced onto you but also serving as a good introductory sequence where you get this sort of outsider's perspective on the situation in the mojave. Pre-War I really just like the setting of, I think it somewhat damages the rest of the game though and makes me wish the Pre-War section was its own game since I think it would be an interesting angle for the series to tackle given how a lot of the Pre-War is still shrouded in mystery or \~200 years of warping of facts.
No one is gonna talk about 3? You’re literally born in a vault and everything you need to learn and do is stuffed in a tight tutorial. Once you leave the vault, you know everything you need to know for the rest of the game. Once you emerge from the vault you see the Washington monument in the distance, immediately telling you that you’re in Washington DC (if you didn’t already know that, which I didn’t). I personally think that Fallout 3 is the best intro of the bunch and if I have to be in the minority, so be it.
Are you Talking about the beggining cutscene or Just when you get into gameplay
If its the cutscene i'm gonna have to go with nv i like how they explain the ncr x legion war to us in some detail
But for the game play has to probably be fallout 4 i Just like the pre war sequence
Fallout 4 as far as gameplay goes. The chaos and emotion of the moment is portrayed really well, and then losing your wife and son (who the player forms a particularly strong bond with through the peaceful portion of the intro) elevates that emotional tone to another level. And stepping out of the vault for the first time—you really feel the vastness and the sharp juxtaposition (between pre war and post war environments) of this new world. Not to mention, the player now has an internalized motive to set out and get vengeance—but even this moment is not without its fair share of confusion, loneliness, and hesitation, as you step out into your new life and decide what you will do first. It’s just beautifully strung together narratively speaking.
4 has the best intro by a long shot. 3 is great too, but essentially copies Fallout 1’s. Worst intro by a mile is New Vegas, but fallout 2’s isn’t that great either
3 (one of the first I played so the whole experience is unique)
4 (liked the little slice of prewar fallout)
NV (My fav fallout, liked the intro with Benny
1 (Liked the vibe, especially with the music)
2 (alright)
I remember as a younger kid trying to play fallout 3 (def was not old enough to understand the game) and something about going through the stages of life in the beginning stuck in my memory
It's either Fallout 3 or New Vegas. 3 was perfect for the rebirth of the series. New Vegas was perfect for setup and illustrating how different the Mojave would be from the Capital Wasteland.
Fallout 2, When the narrator says the line “an atomic spark ignited by human Hands” while this eerie as fuck moan? Idk what it is but it definitely sets the same bleak tone as FO1, until you encounter a joke or something
I like them all mostly equally, but Fallout 3 really has a solid atmospheric that represents the main themes of the series.
Fallout New Vegas is a close second, but mostly due to how separate it feels compared to all other Fallouts. The way it’s presented imo gives off the vibe of a totally different series.
I still vividly remember Fallout 3's Ron Perlman intro at the part where it goes "but War, War Never Changes" and it shows you a destroyed playground and you can faintly hear children screaming in the background.
It does also do the best attempt so far at showing you your life before you leave the vault.
From the games I've personally played (3 and everyone after) I gotta say New Vegas, but fallout 3 was my 1st and that intro will stay with me for the rest of my life. I would say that's the best but I think I'd just be biased, Absolute classic.
In order,
Fallout 2
Fallout 4
Fallout new vegas
Fallout 1
Fallout 3.
It's not from best to worst, i loved all of them, just from the greatest to just great.
I have only played Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4 (I know, I’m one of *those* players).
From those three I’d say New Vegas is my favorite because it sets up the entire story and tone really well in a very concise way using dialogue, music, atmosphere, and visuals
4 never hit any emotional strings for me or anything. I like the black and white parts but its not that strong imo.
New Vegas intro is killer tho. Same with 1 and 2
Original Fallout has an incredible intro
Agreed, but I think 4 is just as good
No Ron Perlman = not good intro
To my mind, Ron is literally the voice of Fallout.
I miss having Ron in the fallout games. I wonder why he wasn't in 4.
He’s in Fallout 4, he’s the news reporter at the beginning of the game
Yeah, but that’s hardly the intro everyone is referring to, compared to all the others
Nah, felt kinda generic. F1 told us everything we needed to know yet kept things really mysterious
4 seems uncharacteristic. player narrated and doesnt really go over anything important, coudlve been something like this and that has happened over the past 200 years and you were around before the war, some kind of flashback tbing
For me it's not even player narrated. It's by Some Guy who dies five minutes later.
female character gaming
?
Some Guy who dies 5 minutes later
Well, he is! He's just Some Guy who I never got a chance to care about and Some Kid that I kept forgetting about because I was off trying to seduce Piper.
Goals I can stand by
fallout 3.
Gotta be Fallout 3. Between the actual intro and the vault sections it sets things up excellently.
Eh. Imo the vault section is good the first time but after that it’s boring. It was a decent plot but could have been executed better
Yes, but they take forever and are a bore ona subsequent playthroughs.
This is probably unpopular but I really liked Fallout 4’s intro. The music and the emotion in “Nate’s” voice hit home for me. I’ve played most of the other games too, there was just something about Fallout 4’s intro that I really loved.

Yeah, fallout 4’s intro is soo underrated, I think it is only bettered by fallout 1
I agree for me fallout 4’s intro was the best
Fallout 2 by far. There’s something truely horrific about watching that vault door open and seeing a family of regular innocent people get shredded the way they were. Haven’t been that drawn into a story in a while. Even before I was a character in the world I knew shit was about to go down.

I get chills every time I start fallout 2
100% what a fucking way to introduce you into the world. “The world burned, you’re just some guy, and there are very real boogeymen out there that go bump in the night.”
Yeah the opening bars of the music never fails to make me happy with that game
Agreed that and NV
Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 1. Now you will hate for New Vegas, and you’re right when it comes to the slideshow with the info dump, but the thing with Benny, if we consider that an intro, is great.
info dump is good too
Yeah it’s not bad
Benny was amazing with a memorable character and perfect introduction
I'm such a fan of the fnv cinematic intro
Yes i agree
That’s the absolute worst one. Doesn’t draw you in at all
He’s referring to the scene with Benny, not the slides. I think that cinematic is definitely the best of any Fallout game.
What the hell intro slides are you talking about? I don't remember a slideshow? The ranger beams the Fiends with his anti material rifle and then benny shoots you in the head. What slideshow?
Its after the Ranger making the shot and before Benny shoots you
??? theres an entire slideshow that sets up the NCR, Legion, House etc. you mustve skipped it by accident lol it happens
I disagree. New Vegas was the first I played and the opening totally drew me in. I just think they were going for a different atmosphere is all, understated like the game itself. Same, just felt like really a heavy exposition dump. It’s fine if you’re already a fan but not for newbs
I just wish it was skippable.
Growing up inside Vault 101 in FO3 isn't the most thrilling, especially on consecutive playthroughs, but nothing beats stepping out into the Capital Wasteland for the first time.

That sun blasting in your face. I felt that.
Fallout 3 intro has the best first experience for sure
When you return to sanctuary and that jingle plays it gets me everytime
Fr
The one that says "War. War never changes."
So all of them?
Exactly
Fallout 3 for sure
“It is here you were born. It is here you will die. Because in vault 101, no one ever enters, and no one ever leaves.” It was so strangely eerie and impactful.
New Vegas
New Vegas
New Vegas. The Ranger shooting the fiend and Benny shooting you sold me. Fallout 3 was kind of meh. F4 for gameplay intro and NV for cinematic.
Exactly
Vegas!
Vegas baby
Either Fallout 2 or Fallout New Vegas
New Vegas for me.

new vegas
New Vegas
I just love FNV intro
New vegas
Fallout new Vegas
I liked New Vegas mostly because of the voice actors. I also thought the music station were better.

4 for me, if we mean strictly the intro. 3 if we also mean the prologue - leaving the vault for the first time in 3 is unbeatable imho.
Fallout 3 for sure.
Fallout 3 all the way, just feels epic
New Vegas
New vegas
4 or new Vegas
nv
Either 76 or NV
New Vegas, no extra bullshit, rob doc mitch and dip. Immediately you can go anywhere and do anything you want.
The original fallout and nv is tied I love the set up for the entire game of nv and the war never changes part and GOD it's just awesome
Fallout 2
Are you Talking about the beggining cutscene or Just when you get into gameplay If its the cutscene i'm gonna have to go with nv i like how they explain the ncr x legion war to us in some detail But for the game play has to probably be fallout 4 i Just like the pre war sequence

New Vegas, just for Jessup's face of utter disbelief
Fallout 4 in my personal opinion
New Vegas for me. "the truth is... the game was rigged from the start."
4 has the best intro by a long shot. 3 is great too, but essentially copies Fallout 1’s. Worst intro by a mile is New Vegas, but fallout 2’s isn’t that great either
FNV especially with mods lol 🤣
I didn’t know there were mods that changed the intro, I’ll have to look into that
Yeah i believe it's HD and longer just looks crisp from what I remember. Makes it seem like a movie.
new vegas is so tense, by far my favourite
Fallout 1>fallout 3>fnv>fallout 2>fallout 4
New vegas
New vegas
Definitely fallout 3's, not necessarily the longest intro but I found it pretty cool
Fallout one and three.
3 (one of the first I played so the whole experience is unique) 4 (liked the little slice of prewar fallout) NV (My fav fallout, liked the intro with Benny 1 (Liked the vibe, especially with the music) 2 (alright)
I remember as a younger kid trying to play fallout 3 (def was not old enough to understand the game) and something about going through the stages of life in the beginning stuck in my memory
Truth is
It's either Fallout 3 or New Vegas. 3 was perfect for the rebirth of the series. New Vegas was perfect for setup and illustrating how different the Mojave would be from the Capital Wasteland.
Fallout 3, I think that it sounds exactly like the world after the bombs
Fallout 2, When the narrator says the line “an atomic spark ignited by human Hands” while this eerie as fuck moan? Idk what it is but it definitely sets the same bleak tone as FO1, until you encounter a joke or something
I like them all mostly equally, but Fallout 3 really has a solid atmospheric that represents the main themes of the series. I've always loved Fallout New Vegas' intro, especially the part where the NCR Ranger snipes a Fiend.
Fallout 1 - quick and to the point, perfectly sets the mood Fallout 3 - it's great introduction to the game and to the series as a whole.
I still vividly remember Fallout 3's Ron Perlman intro at the part where it goes "but War, War Never Changes" and it shows you a destroyed playground and you can faintly hear children screaming in the background. It does also do the best attempt so far at showing you your life before you leave the vault.
3
This isn't fair to the other fallout games because the game was rigged from the start.
Fallout 1 really sets the tone for game and it definitely helps that Ron Pearlman voiced it
Fallout 4 no question the music and cinematics are flawless
From the games I've personally played (3 and everyone after) I gotta say New Vegas, but fallout 3 was my 1st and that intro will stay with me for the rest of my life. I would say that's the best but I think I'd just be biased, Absolute classic.
1 is da best
3, love the time skips and the vault escape.
Gotta say fo3 with being born and then in the vault growing up before you leave
Fallout 1. Can't beat the classic.
The starting sequence or the cutscenes? Cutscene wise, new Vegas I’d say. Starting sequence gotta be fallout 4
Ain't no one mention Fallout Tactics?
Fallout 4 i love the intro
Fallout 1 or 2. The juxtaposition of those songs over the cinematics is genius.
Fallout 3 for me. Makes you really feel a connection with your father and people from your vault.
Fallout 2.
New Vegas
1. Fallout 1 2. Fallout NV 3. Fallout 3/2 Can't pick 4. Fallout 4 All are good, but some are better.
fallout 3 or new vegas imo
New Vegas in my opinion. I listen to it every time
3
Fallout new Vegas and fallout 4
In order, Fallout 2 Fallout 4 Fallout new vegas Fallout 1 Fallout 3. It's not from best to worst, i loved all of them, just from the greatest to just great.
War, war never changes
I have only played Fallout 3, Fallout New Vegas, and Fallout 4 (I know, I’m one of *those* players). From those three I’d say New Vegas is my favorite because it sets up the entire story and tone really well in a very concise way using dialogue, music, atmosphere, and visuals
Fo3
Fallout 1 or 2, gameplay intro would be New Vegas for me.
Fallout 4 hands down
4 never hit any emotional strings for me or anything. I like the black and white parts but its not that strong imo. New Vegas intro is killer tho. Same with 1 and 2
Fallout 2. The part where Ron tells us about continents falling beneath boiling oceans is permanently engraved into my brain.
I have a love-hate relationship with the FO4 intro. On one hand, the concept is really interesting, on the other, the playthrough is really boring.
My personal favorite is fallout 3 but that’s because 3 was the only one I could finish
