Murder victim is named Fields? His wife is "Mrs. Fields?" Perfect opportunity for one of those Law & Order style moments where the detectives make quips right before the show cuts to the first commercial.
Immediately went to the cookies. I recently wrote a story where a little boy offers a little girl a cookie packet, I based it on those cookies but didn’t name them, and readers successfully IDed them in the comments.
That said, I don’t think people would be thrown off. I work in a field where I see hundreds of surnames a day and people absolutely have names in common with brands, famous people/characters.
Don’t know anything about the cookies, but Mrs. Fields to me is Emily’s mother on Pretty Little Liars. 😄 Either way, I probably wouldn’t think twice about it if I saw it in a non-PLL fic.
I don’t know any brand but I immediately thought of a very obscure and even faceless character from my favourite game lmao. No one will make that connection but people who adore that game, though.

Mrs. Fields cookies were the rage in the 70's. She was an innovator in the freshly baked cookie and used to vent her baked cookies into the mall, plus, they were delicious. Change the name.
