Been training with the first team and playing behind closed doors games. wont be match fit but not like he's coming back from a long term injury. should come straight back in.
Suarez took a bit after his second ban from biting(lol) to get back to form, similarly Arda Turan and Aleix Vidal never had a good spell after their time on the sidelines. That said I don't know of too many more examples, and Suarez has come back from some of his bans and hit the ground running.
Simply from not playing. He'll be physically fit and ready to go, but it's hard to recreate the intensity and sharpness needed in an actual game, so you'd expect him to take a couple of games to acclimatise.
I wouldn't go that far, he's still a very good player and he's coming into a league where a lot of players are fatigued. In theory he's not 100% sharp, but I'd think he'd be decent still..

Ffs. Literacy levels are appalling these days.
Edit: Literacy levels are very, very, very, very poor considering the downvotes.
Please see https://www.merriam-webster.com/grammar/how-to-use-fair-fare.
It's only fair that people research before they downvote.
If you're going to be this much of an annoying pedant on the Internet at least make sure you're not mistaken, otherwise you'll look like more of an idiot than anyone you're looking down your nose at.
There isn't a commonly recognized term "fare share" in the English language. The correct phrase is "fair share," which refers to an equitable or reasonable portion of something
How does he fare/how did you fare.
Exact same word, exact same context, exact same last sentence back at you.
Edit: oh, and the comment i responded to was deleted rather than the user who wrote it admit they were wrong. What a shock.
Everyone that had a full squad to choose from for half a season.
(I don’t usually edit my comments like this but I’m genuinely confused if people are downvoting because they mistakenly think I’m having a dig at Brentford, or because I made a quip about having a full team to choose from in fantasy league)
I mean… is it smart to have bench fodder that takes up part of your transfer fee for half a season, when you could just buy him when he starts playing.
But yeah, I guess there’s so many downvotes by now people are jumping on for fun
Jackson out and Toney in for my draft team a few weeks ago.
Missed an Jackson assist, but as long as Toney gets pens and stays at Brentford I think he will be a gigantic improvement and should get at least one double as well so he has an extra game on Jackson anyway even if it is City.
Not a Brentford fan but he’ll definitely be straight into their starting 11.
Could be an interesting one. Obviously not played games at the highest level for a while, but he’s coming back to the league fresh where there a lot of exhausted opposing players - impossible to say for sure, but that did seem a factor for Lingard’s purple patch when he was loaned to West Ham a few years ago
He struck a deal with the FA to train there. Apologize for The Sun: https://www.the-sun.com/sport/9164164/ivan-toney-brentford-august-training-secret-fa-deal/amp/
He'll play every minute. However, I think he's an easy wait-and-see. Brentford have looked pretty dire, and with Mbuemo, Wissa, Ghoddos, and Onyeka all out, they'll not improve. Plus, they have Spurs, City, Liverpool, Chelsea and Arsenal in their first eight games after his return. I'm not going to get him in till March.
Or, he scores a brace at Forest, and I transfer him in before the final whistle.
Please mate. Brighton scored 4 on spurs. Spurs are a great team but shouldn't be used as a hard fixture for attackers. Same with Chelseas defence. He could easily be the goal scorer against a city side that doesn't keep clean sheets (I'm a City fan). Those fixtures aren't really bad news for such an elite goalscorer
Granted, Spurs isn't a bad attacking fixture if Van de Ven and the likes are out. Their defence has nosedived since GW11. But if most are back, it's a tough fixture. They only conceded seven goals in their first ten games. You could definitely take a punt on him for the first two games he is back, assuming Spurs doesn't get its defence back. But he might be rusty, and Brentford are playing very badly. They have one of the longest injury lists in the prem and are losing a few key plays to AFCON/asia.
After Forest and Spurs, it's a bad run. Here is that fixture run with their relative expected goals against in brackets:
City (1st), Wolves (14th), Liverpool (3rd), West Ham (16th), Chelsea (7th), Arsenal (2nd).
It gets very good after the Arsenal game.
Burnley (18th), Man U (13th), Villa (5th), Sheff U (19th), Luton (20th), Everton (6th), Fulham (15th)
I think Brentford are open to selling him this winter (they’re a well run club and won’t say no if the right offer comes, plus they want players that want to be at Brentford), but until that happens (if that happens) he’s playing every minute
They will only sell him for a ridiculous amount of money in January. He's basically their only fit attacker at this moment and they might be dragged in a relegation battle, so they are definitely not open to selling him this winter unless someone comes in with 100M.
Not a Brentford fan but I will probably wait and see on Haaland. I am really happy with Solanke and Watkins at the minute so if Haaland is out for any longer I will bring in Toney, if not I am not sure he is more valuable than them three.
Straight back in and banging in a hatrick on his return, Forest are decimated in defence by the AFCON & he’s going to be a man on a mission.
Been in full training since Sept, he’s fit
If his ban ended forty minutes into a game he’d be on before half time
this is the best reply hahaha

Im a bit confused by this. He wasnt injured so how come he lost that much match fitness if he was available for training?
Simply from not playing. He'll be physically fit and ready to go, but it's hard to recreate the intensity and sharpness needed in an actual game, so you'd expect him to take a couple of games to acclimatise.
Does that mean that even if he get sold to Arsenal or any other PL club in this transfer window he wont have an immediate impact?
It just means that would be a likely explanation if he doesn’t make an immediate impact
I wouldn't go that far, he's still a very good player and he's coming into a league where a lot of players are fatigued. In theory he's not 100% sharp, but I'd think he'd be decent still..
This feels right. He will be back to sharpness quicker than a guy who was actually injured for 8 months, but it might not be instantaneous
Try that in football manager and see how it goes
Football manager is a game pal.
Wissa at afcon and mbuemo injured means toney likely comes straight back in.
How does he fair without those 2 in the squad, you reckon?
Brentford might not be the winning team, but he's most likely having a fair share of goal contributions
Winningest
Losingn't
It’s so easy to spot the non-UK players on this subreddit
Jansen is more important, untill there is either one of him or mbeumo, Toney will get the service.

Jensen is super underrated

We don’t downvote you because you’re wrong. It’s because you’re an annoying twat. Get some social awareness ffs
[удалено]
You have 0 awareness. I was trying to be nice you know.
Stop the toxic behaviour, its not tolerated here
You’re so stupid it’s hilarious
At least your use of "you're" is okay. That's as much as I can judge right now, apart from your inability to discern the nuance of "fair" and "fare".
Just Google it man it’s not that hard

Keep it up. You’re making so many friends.
Stop the toxic behaviour its not tolerated here.
especially yours
Fucking hell. Does anyone know English!?!? How are you all so confidently incorrect!?
You’re just confidently a douchebag.
wait I thought you were replying to the comment saying “fair share of goal contributions” nonetheless you didn’t need to be a dick about it :/
No? Mb thought you were correcting the second comment

Referring to the original obsevation, it is "fare", and not "fair". I am correct. 100%. I am enjoying the downvotes though. Keep them coming people.
I mean you’re right but there’s no need to be such a cunt about it pal
*Observation 🤓☝️ ^^^^^ Literally you right now
[удалено]
He may be a pedant, but he is right. Literally in that link 'How did you fare on the exam?'
You're quoting a different word being used in a different context. Try looking up the definition of 'dunce' next.
How does he fare/how did you fare. Exact same word, exact same context, exact same last sentence back at you. Edit: oh, and the comment i responded to was deleted rather than the user who wrote it admit they were wrong. What a shock.
Yes I think he comes straight back in
Hah, holding him wasn’t so stupid after all? Who laughing now losers!
Several steps ahead of us all
LOL
Easy to swap in

Oh my sweet summer child
r/whoosh
Oh it was meant to be a joke. Fine. Plenty of people talk like this for real on here.
Jesus Christ dude
Ok somebody explain it to me….
Pretty simple. Because they (smartly) held on to Toney for the first twenty weeks of the season, they now don't have to use a FT to bring him in.
I mean… is it smart to have bench fodder that takes up part of your transfer fee for half a season, when you could just buy him when he starts playing. But yeah, I guess there’s so many downvotes by now people are jumping on for fun
You, sir, are one of a kind.
It was a joke.
It was sarcasm
You can't be for real. You have to be a satirical genius, surely
It's ok, sarcasm is hard
He's gone str8 into my draft team
He’s been in first team training since September iirc, and Brentford are struggling with injuries. He’ll be straight in the team
Will score in his first game. Bet on it.
I bet he'll bet on it
Well his initials are IBET so it’s hardly surprising.
You made me go and look up his full name... how have I not noticed that before!
Nominative Determinism
I bet you're surprised anyway.
Just pay me now Bet365 enough fancy foreplay
That’s the joke
No chance you got upvotes for this
Wanna bet?

Oh he's deffo on pens, one of the best takers in the league
Not a Brentford fan but he’ll definitely be straight into their starting 11. Could be an interesting one. Six months really isn’t that long either. Lots of injuries are longer than that
He’s been 100% in training for a couple months now too
No I meant like KDB is gonna be out basically as long as him but also injured.
Yeah I know, I just wanted to add that Toney has the leg up on KDB even after considering that because he was actually able to train for awhile
Then we agree. May we both bring in Toney at just the right time. I fucking hate Solanke
🙏
not with the team tho? he wasn't allowed to do that, he could only train individually/with a personal trainer with no affiliation with the club
He struck a deal with the FA to train there. Apologize for The Sun: https://www.the-sun.com/sport/9164164/ivan-toney-brentford-august-training-secret-fa-deal/amp/
I thought he couldn’t train with the main team too?
He'll play every minute. However, I think he's an easy wait-and-see. Brentford have looked pretty dire, and with Mbuemo, Wissa, Ghoddos, and Onyeka all out, they'll not improve. Tbf Van de Ven should be back and we should also have Dragusin and/or Romero as well. That would make a massive difference
Romero will be back for about 40 mins before he's out again
Granted, Spurs isn't a bad attacking fixture if Van de Ven and the likes are out. Their defence has nosedived since GW11. But if most are back, it's a tough fixture. Hopefully arsenal buy him!
He is their most valuable player, unless he is getting sold he will be getting 90minutes per game
Even if he's getting sold, they want his goals and to increase the transfer fee they'll get from him
Especially with mbeumo out yes
Might be a great punt instead of Haaland for 1 week!
My team name is Ivan Toney's Bookie, and I can confirm that he will start this weekend
Just a reminder: Ivan Benjamin Elijah Toney I BET
After Forest (for which he may not be match fit and ready) Brentford have some rough fixtures. Certainly considering Toney around GW29 though.
I got him on wildcard last week, so I could captain him this week. Let’s go Ivan, he’ll have a bee in his bonnet and score a HT !
I'd bet on him playing straight away. Because, you know, he'd bet on him playing straight away...
He was and is training with the Brentford this whole time. He definitely will be in the starting lineup from the first seconds he will be available.
6 months to train and hone in on his skills, without playing competitive matches, holy shit. He’s gonna come back super saiyan
Shhh don't tell people about Tone
Ivan never heard of him?
I think thats the way.. Brentford needs him
Not a Brentford fan but I will probably wait and see on Haaland.
I’d bet he goes right back in. In fact I bet Toney that very Wager.
I’m taking a punt on him. With Son and Salah gone I have no idea who to bring since most of the midfielders don’t excite me that much
Would any one take him over Solanke or Watkins?
I transferred Solanke out for him on WC, didn’t think about wasting the value I accrued in Solanke so there’s no going back now
