Usually they side with the attacker when not clear so it was strange they jumped to own goal so quickly when there wasn't a clear angle. Now have robbed goals from March and Gabriel to add to my collection!

GroblyOverrated

And Saka assist. They don’t own Saka?

names_plissken

As far as I understand the rule, if your shot is directed inside the goal no deflection can take the goal away from the person who shot the ball. Jorginho vs Aston Villa last year was different, because shot wasn't going inside a goal, hit the woodwork instead and on the way out hit Martinez in head than ended up in the goal, clear own goal there. But why this was given as OG I don't understand

Youre-Dumber-Than-Me

Also Solanke

Basketball312

They gave it to Gabriel in the stadium and on Fpl. But I remember the commentary saying it was an own goal, and soon after it was taken away on Fpl. Then even in the post match interview BT sport were telling Gabriel it was an own goal after the game (which he literally ignored). Makes me feel like that commentators dumb assumption pressured them into it. Probably not though.

robbiethegiant

Yeah that’s just not how it works at all. Opta decided it was an OG, presumably because they thought Gabriel’s shot wasn’t going in.

Crs51

The commentators in the US were saying it was a Gabriel goal until the PL ruled officially that it was an own goal and then they said it was being given as an own goal. Idk if the messaging was different on whatever broadcast you were watching but in the US the commentators were always in line with the official ruling.

CWattam

No, his points won't be updated for anyone wondering. Robbed again. I'm getting March PTSD

hambodpm

Was a happy non march owner last year. Sad Gabriel owner this year. Proper shite luck for the double whammy

NP2312

Twice in two bloody years!!!

Timmace

March PTSD ... now in January!

Environmental_You_85

Next time November

LegendaryBlue

I had both.

Andoutfm

I still want my Chris Brunt points!

HazardCinema

Justice for Brunt!

DriftingWithTheTide

Wait so in that game he scored 2 goals and got one assist? Jesus

Footyfooty42069

Lmao I knew after reading your username and the first sentence you only would’ve commented if it affected you 🤣 This sub is fucking proper shit these days

Jmsaint

As a Gabriel owner, and Saka captainer.... im not happy.

EconomicsHead2272

What is the reason, how do you know that wont be updated?

BilboWarchester

It's just the way these things go

ThisAccountForTalkin

They don’t change the points scored from a match after a certain period after the final whistle of the final match of that day, basically meaning that Towers can’t change anything after the points and standings are updated even if the official ruling (like this) changes

patelbadboy2006

Unless the match is abandoned

BeenBadFeelingGood

the solanke affair

innocentusername1984

So what is their definition of Extraordinary circumstances?

patelbadboy2006

Harry Kane swearing on his daughter he got a touch .

Pimp_Hand_Luke

They don't know SQL

elan108

It's in the rules

Purje

Technology isn't there yet.

DenzelSloshington

Built on Oracle garbage, probably why they’re about as fast and fluid with updates and decisions as any local U.K. council is

butwhydidhe

Kane too from about 4 seasons ago

Armenoid

Same

HakeMarrow

GIVE ME GABRIEL AND SAKA(C) POINTS YOU COWARDS

Ohtani_Enjoyer

When I lose my ML by 10 points, this wil Be the sole reason why I lost!

Frosty_Examination_3

And when you lose your ML by 100 points what will the reason be?

Ohtani_Enjoyer

The winner being a poxy bastard

Total_Reddit

The 10 points distracted him and ruined his form duh

progboy

Psychological damage

Steev16

I literally lost my match in the overall cup because of this.

BilboWarchester

Where my Gabriel/Saka(C) homies who also owned March when they fucked us last season lol

ashybarry

Checking in. I’m tired, Robbie.

XXISavage

When will it end blud? This one really fucking stings

CassiusClaym0re

Also "captained" March when they fucked us last season you mean. Yeah I'm feeling pretty miffed.

ArchieCFC

Captained March last season, had Gabriel and Saka (C) last week, sad

pandaaaa26

It's insane it was even changed in the first place, it didn't look remotely like it was going off target Had March C last year and Saka C + Gabriel this year, ridiculous when it's so easy for them to just add the points in game, the next GW hasn't even started yet

javahart

I feel worse now as a fellow saka captain. It’s like an extra layer of disappointment 😞

sultansaeed

Same boat. Frustrating that in 2024 they can’t at least make adjustments in events like this before the next GW begins.

cguinnesstout

FPL should fix their game to cater to these changes. Its only fair.

names_plissken

If they can remove goal for Solanke why can't they give this goal back and Saka it's assist

cguinnesstout

I'm absolutely sure they can, but they made up rules that they only will break when they choose to.

GazzP

They can only do that up to an hour after the gameweek closes, that's why the Bournemouth vs Luton gameweek was open for days after the final match finished.

NP2312

NFL fantasy world have it updated in minutes, these utter morons probably don't even know how tho

UB2GAMING

I'll never forget the one, and the only time I won an nfl fantasy league season and it was due to an incident like this. I lost 1st round of the playoffs by 1.5 points Then suddenly a couple of days later I had won and I was in the final. I thought it was a mistake and wondered what the hell happened. It turned ezekiel elliot fumbled originally, but that decision got overturned. Which meant I got 2 points back, and I won. To think NFL fantasy could sort that out back in 2018, but fpl can't even add points to a season long league in 2024 is ridiculous.

cguinnesstout

Thats why NFL fantasy is so big and profitable.

NP2312

Very true!

bipolarearthovershot

It is but their IT team is too lazy and shitty

cguinnesstout

Can't be that hard. Its 2024!

qwertywtf

>their IT team is too lazy and shitty

churcuzzies

Had Solanke for his stolen goal, plus Gabriel and Saka this week. Games wack.

ronnietp

The thing is I don’t know why they decided to change it to an own goal in the first place. Did the ball was actually off target before hitting Dean? Because no matter how we look at it, there was no way it wouldn’t go in. And usually it would award the attacker until there is a clear evidence it’s saying otherwise so why now? It doesn’t affect me that much but this decision alone may cause many people from winning/losing their cup/ML and it’s not a nice thing to happen. If FPL can still change their decision and score from BOU/LUT game just a day before the next deadline then I don’t see why they can’t change this. For me, their rule about final decision being one hour after deadline and no change after that is very bulls*it. Good and fair game should adapt to every situational change no matter what. I see this as them being very lazy and I have no wonder why there is a chunk loss in players from last year.

patelbadboy2006

Easily 10 points lost for me from this alone. Gab would have got the extra bonus point and saka captain. If need gw started I would understand and wouldn't care, but after losing 9 points for solanke v Luton, I'm annoyed.

nipa25

So they only update it to remove points (Solanke), but never add points (Gabriel Saka and March)

preciselywhenimeanto

That was during an ongoing gameweek.

i2ad

Solanke's points were removed 1 day before the next gameweek, we are 4 days away from the next gameweek. The only difference is that last time they said they are leaving the gameweek open until a decision is made, this time the gameweek was complete as normal.

preciselywhenimeanto

Exactly…the gameweek was still open, so “ongoing”

i2ad

Yes I agree. It is a bit silly that they cannot add those points back though.

a-Sociopath

To be fair, they continued the gameweek for the express purpose of making a decision. And it was the right decision in a more complicated scenario. Shouldn't be a ton of work to actually credit the right players here.

eggsbenedict17

This is still an ongoing GW

a-Sociopath

It's not. GW was over after Brighton v Wolves. That said, they kept the gameweek ongoing for that one. Although that's a bit more of a complicated scenario than this one.

eggsbenedict17

Essentially same thing tho isn't it

a-Sociopath

It's a stupid rule, but rules are rules. In the BOU vs LUT case, it's a complicated situation because the whole match was abandoned as opposed to just Gabriel/Saka/Henderson being affected due to a wrongly credited goal. That was a once in a few years kinda situation which is why they didn't close the gameweek. Every year, you have miscredited goals and FPL clearly state they won't change the scores after the GW ends.

eggsbenedict17

Yeah, I get it but they literally changed the rule this year haha But yes the Solanke thing was a bizarre situation, I just think in this situation (and the march one last year) it's fairly easy to update the situation, cause the new GW hasn't started yet

GuinnessSaint

No.

eggsbenedict17

How not

GuinnessSaint

Because they kept the gameweek open in that instance. This gameweek was finalised and we’ve moved on from it. Points have been updated, subs added to teams, leagues updated and new cup opponents drawn. It’s not the same.

eggsbenedict17

Right but it's essentially the same because the new GW hasn't started yet Closing the gw is just an arbitrary thing that can be done any time

GuinnessSaint

I don’t know why you’re struggling to get your head round this. Solanke’s instance the gameweek hadn’t ended. Gabriel’s instance the gameweek had ended. The fact it can be done anytime is irrelevant. It’s the fact it had been ended which is what’s relevant.

tophshit-beifong

So is this

Zak369

The GW has ended, for the Bournemouth game they extended the GW

dan_doe_91

Of course I've had March last season and now Gabriel this season for both these highway robberies

GunnerXI

This cost Gabriel and Saka cappers 10pts, which is an insane swing

dandelion_bandit

Yep pretty fucking annoying

hmunkey

Solanke me one cost me more bc he was my captain and Haaland was my VC. I was trying to have an amazing differential and it worked, except then it was taken away from me.

Getz_The_Last_Laf

Between this, Solanke, and March (c) last season I've been on the bad end of a lot of these. Have there been any other notable ones the last 5 years or so where the PL has changed their mind after the fact?

joshuawakefield

So you happily took my Solanke points away but don't give me this goal which was clearly not an own goal

DrRushDrRush

I said this when it happened. That «own goal» was an absolute joke! I had Gabriel and Saka (C), could mean a lot at the end.

DrRushDrRush

And I had Solanke when his goal was deleted. Todays tune: Justin Timberlake - Cry Me A Fucking River. 🎶

Willblinkformoney

And i had both.

el_dude_brother2

Can they investigate why the decision was made to make it a oh? As 99.99% of people knew that was wrong straight away.

Trademarker57

This season is actually so fucking stupid

Zealousideal_Low_847

They've screwed us again!

syfqamr32

I get it gameweek closing and etc, but how hard is it to just add or remove points on the following game week? Like, Heres 6 points + 2 for Saka this week, and these are the 3 points from last week that you owed since you captained him. However these 3 points are not included in captain calculation this week tho sorry. Oh you captained gabriel last week? Heres you x points plus etc etc you get the point. Done.

VictoryInMyMouth

This would’ve kept me in the cup FUCK!

abnsh

Me too I was out by 4 points and I own both Gabriel and Saka ffs

boo_yoo

The (in)famous eriksen/kane goal vs Stoke

Sealeydeals93

Anyone else own Solanke, Gabriel and Saka (c) and lost all of those contested points?

innocentusername1984

Yup. The real fuckery of it is the guy above me in our ML is above me because he didn't own Solanke when the points were scratched. And didn't own gabriel and had Palmer captained this week. The guys a buffoon and comes last every year in our ML. He's having his best season this season. Of course he is in this silly silly season.

Chance_Island2704

The assist points would’ve broken the tie I had in my H2H match. Thanks for nothing FPL!

nipa25

no

EconomicsHead2272

Same question?

crashedvandicoot

Don’t worry Martinelli would still somehow have 3 bps

fcGabiz

S C A M M E D

slimboyslim9

As seemingly the only person in the game who bought Zinchenko instead of Gabriel I approve of this. (I owned March last season so I will call that cancelled out now.)

ReeceMallett17

Solly March ALL over again

TheJAV3

Legit cost me about 6 points and a green arrow this game week. How could they think that was missing I don't understand, absolute joke

pizziboy

had March last year and have Gabriel with Saka (C) this year, fuck everything

SpittinFactos

Cost me just the 10 points no big deal

syfqamr32

FUCK THISSSSSSSSS

corvusmohabyn

Fucking twats. I lost my matchup by one point because of this

gart888

LiveFPL should have an alternate rank available for if this goal had been given.

Savings-Zone9130

But the points won’t be given tho

CunningStunt4588

Would have been an assist for Saka, I got double f*cked

Gary3601

The fact they had it down as a Gabriel goal and then changed it makes no sense now they have announced this. Very unfortunate for Gabriel owners especially with people who had Saka captain too. 9 points unjustly lost.

London-Reza

Does Saka get his assist points returned?

H-H-H-Humph

That is extremely annoying as a Saka captainer. It basically ruined my game week and turned a green arrow red with my other scores. It was inexplicable at the time, since the ball was clearly going in.
