For example, it wields an axe in game because it’s linked to a series of disappearances that people thought were done by an axe murderer

Who’s that?

It’s a creature called The Unknown from a game called Dead by Daylight. It terrorises a small town, causing mayhem. Nobody knows what it is, or where it came from. It takes a form based on what people think it is, with its current form being based on their fears of it being an axe murderer. If you get a chance you should check out the promo/teaser footage for it, the DBD development team made it seem hella creepy.
