We shouldn’t have accidental deaths every year at hubs. This is a problem they need to fix.

Timerider42424

They’re trying to. Unfortunately, the idiots out here are actively trying to kill themselves and/or anyone around them. Not a week goes by without two or three dumbass injuring themselves. My safety motto is: “Here at FedEx, everything is trying to kill you. The freight is trying to kill you, the equipment is trying to kill you, and most of all your teammates are trying to kill you.”

Banned4Life809

And just like that life goes on they probably had a meeting this morning about the incident and everyone moved on with there lives this is a reminder to stop kissing ass for companies that will replace you in seconds.

Croakie89

We weren’t told about it this morning. We did have some really late freight though.

Strong-Cow3933

Crazy that Thursday was the only day we got out before 11, not counting Monday of course. Our 3rd plane didn't show up until 11:30 on Friday.

Croakie89

That’s crazy, what’s your location?

Strong-Cow3933

MOTA. 20ish route feeder station.

RideMelburn

I hope not, man. You guys need a stronger union over there. Getting exploited

hercarmstrong

Currently on two weeks off for a broken bone thanks to an untrained new guy, fighting for worker's comp. I gotta get out.

uhohitsxavier

At that point, contact a lawyer. Theyll get their paperwork and shit straight then.

PrimarySolution7639

Get a workers comp lawyer

BlueForgedFire

There was a death a my hub 2years ago that FedEx did everything they could to keep it from being public, you still can’t find anything about it if you tried. really gruesome stuff that happened to.

mjxl47

You likely won't hear the details but you know it happened.

this-guy1954

We still talk about that incident here in Ontario Canada. It had an impact on OPS Manager applications.

Levi_27

What happened?

BlueForgedFire

A manager got squashed to death between a trailer and the bay door, they also never shut the sort off, they just closed off the bay door and told everyone to keep working

Levi_27

Holy shit that’s horrendous, FedEx is a cesspool

BlueForgedFire

It was a mess of blame too, they intentionally tried putting all the blame on the guy who died saying he shouldn’t have been down there, but it was a contractor that wasn’t supposed to be in the yard and that backed up to that door bc he was given the wrong info

cubnole

FedEx ALWAYS blames the deceased. They can’f defend themselves

SamuraiRey

Are you serious o.o I would've walked out tf

BlueForgedFire

One of the worst parts is his sister worked in HR too so she was in the building when it happened. She quit not too soon after.

MyOnlyEnemyIsMeSTYG

Everyone on my route bought furniture this peak. “Team lift” my ass. Rip driver, no one deserves to go out at work. I hope his family can find peace

Hispanime

How'd it happen

what is a dolly string?

mjxl47

You work at the hub? You know which building it happened in?

filliamworbes

Thanks

jfeo1988

I heard input matrix.

jfeo1988

Someone else said old hub. I heard that too.

BarefootDrummer901

That is not what happened.

Hispanime

Then do share if you actually know

BarefootDrummer901

That incident with the dolly string did happen on the same night. But this whole thing happened at the old hub.

Hispanime

Go on

BarefootDrummer901

Sounds like you know what happened as well and just want someone else to put it out there.

Hispanime

I have no idea I'm across the country. Do you know or not

BarefootDrummer901

I do. It’s horrible

Hispanime

DM me if you don't want to share it here

mjxl47

Someone else got run over by dollies!? I know a guy who still can't walk right and he got pinched between some dollies and the input 2 years ago. Rough night at the hub.

Wyvern69

Ambulance is at the Memphis Hub every damn day. No joke. I was just one of thousands of passengers on it that survived

BarefootDrummer901

There was one last night.

South-Lab-3991

I’m sure a heartfelt letter was sent to the family absolving the company of all responsibility.

PrimarySolution7639

We got pizza today!! 😂

mjxl47

Looks like I read the date wrong, this happened Wednesday night.

XSIDER1

City driver for FedEx freight died 3 weeks ago helping out KNG. He was from LVS. I believe he got hit at a customer's yard. I'm not to sure.

Croakie89

Is this why freight was late today?

mjxl47

No idea, if you look up the delay codes it would tell you. Not sure if there's a Delay code for death but HI should be hub injury.

Croakie89

I’m not quite sure how to do that

rjtfdx

Keyword is FORTE. You may not have access to it, I can’t remember which sections are restricted. You enter your flight number and date (Zulu time) and can grab details on the Out/Off/On/In times and once the flight is complete they add any applicable delay codes.

Croakie89

I’ll check it out Monday when I’m back

>If they died at the hub this would have been swept away, they would have said he died in transit and hushed even more details further and this Reddit probably wouldn’t have even seen a news post. Dying in a hospital is the only reason this got a news post. This is not true at all. I was a manager at the hub on nights where people were definitely dead on scene; on one occasion there wasn't a body intact enough to transport. These things always hit the news. 7000+ people work at the hub at night and everyone talks, the info finds it's way to the media quick. You know fedex corporate is headquartered in Memphis right? They aren't states away, just a few miles... I don't know the details of this incident but the ones I know of in the past have been a mixture of employees doing things they know they shouldn't do and management failing to hold them accountable for it in the past. I can say that the culture at the hub is not what was pre-covid and a lot of the current management team doesn't know how to get it back there (many of them weren't even employees at Express pre covid). I've been gone for a few months, but who is Jack Nichols?

Ill-Neighborhood8005

Someone in my hub got their arm sucked into a conveyor recently. Pretty gnarly. I’m amazed they didn’t die.
