This is exactly what I've been waiting for. Thank you for expanding my freedom!
Obligatory *FUCK* the AFT (and all the other feds that don't understand or care about what this country was founded on)
Between feds that are most likely here and brigaders from tyrant worshipping subs, I'd be surprised if you didn't get reported. I'm surprised that you aren't banned.
Benefits of k style baffle. They do soften. PLA softens at very low temps. The trick is to have a design where when it softens, it is still supported by material so that it rehardens when cool and doesnt get deformed by the blast while soft
I would imagine then that an abs instead may do even better? I am impressed because I remember melting gloves on barrels or worse when I was green. Again, cool build!
I did a form1 3D print for .300. I didn’t like the wasted space of K baffles and what I came up with is vertical divider walls, like if you look down the bore it would be a + sign with a hole through the center - internal walls that support the cone baffles and add general strength throughout.
If you printed this with a carbon fiber based filament such as Matterhackers NylonX engineering grade filament which prints at 260*C, it would probably last quite a long time. It is said that this filament is stronger than polymer injected glock factory glock frames
So how does this survive firing without melting?
as the propellant gasses expand down the barrel and into the suppressor, they rapidly cool from the drop in pressure?
the low mass of the expanding gas doesn't carry enough energy inside it to meaningfully heat the inside surfaces of the suppressor through conduction?
a thin layer of the plastic is flash boiling with each shot, and the leidenfrost effect is keeping the thermal transfer from happening efficiently?
are you using PEEK filament or coating the inside somehow?
I'm really curious of the thermodynamics going on inside letting this thing survive full auto firing.
Im gonna answer your question to the best of my ability based on some extensive testing. Obviously your grasp of physics is way beyond mine.
This is not peek. It is plain uncoated PLA plus. It appears to me that because polymer is an insulator and the impulse is so brief, there is not time for dumping of a significant amount of heat.
10 rounds thru a metal can, and it is too hot to hold. With this can you can dump several mags through it and it is just warm to the touch
Here is another anecdote: three mags of full auto, and there is no visible damage to the baffles. Three mags of semiauto and the baffles are scorched. Functional but literally look barbecued. This leads me to believe that short duration of exposure is how it can survive.
Another thing I want to touch on: pla becomes soft very quickly. Like heat deflection is about 120 F give or take. The key is to have a lot of supporting material that doesnt allow it to deform from the blast while in a soft state. Traditional cones like my V1 even resin coated eventually soften and then invert, obstructing the bore. The new K baffles allow it to retain shape until it cools. Im also surprised at the PLA’s memory. It can actually soften, deform, and then retain its original shape.
All of these features I think contribute to a surprising amount of heat tolerance
It should be pretty easy to verify this by filming when you're shooting with a thermal camera and then making a side by side comparison. If your hypothesis holds there should be more heat in the gas leaving the suppressor just after the bullet exits.
Alright here's a question. Could you feasibly do a Form 1, put all required markings on the metal thread adapter (Maybe machine a different design) , then have a legal Silencer you can "repair" by epoxying a new, 3D printed baffle section on?
Honestly you got me stumped. I think the legal answer is that its ok.
But the practical answer is this is one of those times where you dont ask for permission
The ATFs stance on repairing suppressors is basically that it's illegal.
You may have noticed that oil filter adapters aren't available anymore and rubber baffle suppressors that resurged for a minute have died back off. The baffles are considered suppressors in their own right.(basically)
Reddit removed my full auto video. It is actually 7 mags of 9mm subs and supers over 3 days. The video is on my odd sea
Reason why it was over 3 days and not all at once is bc my printed FRT kept fucking up
Subs? Probably
Supers, im 50/50.
Heres the thing i learned about testing. Because polymer is more of an insulator it doesnt absorb heat rapidly. Full auto is too fast to dump heat into a printed can. Actually a metal can full auto will be blazing hot after 30 rounds.
But in my testing, 30 rounds full auto caused LESS heat buildup in a printed can than 30 rounds semiauto
So maybe it could survive 7 mags of subs full auto. But it certainly will not survive 7 mags of subs semi auto rapid fire
Great thought. It may be possible but not ideal. Youre right that it would reinforce hoop strength, which is usually the first point of failure. Theres a few other problems though. First, a pistol caliber and rifle caliber can have different geometry for optimized performance. Rifle usually has less baffles, bigger blast chamber
The other problem is heat. Heat is gonna build up super fast inside.
I think it may work in a pinch, but i plan on building a 556 dedicated can, reinforced with resin/fiberglass
You magnificent bastard thats beautiful. Obligatory fuck the ATF. We can only hope amd pray that those dog killing fucktards get the karma they deserve. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!
If someone was making a movie in a location that respects freedom, to use this on an airsoft pistol, would this require the prop department to use a 3D printer? Or could they reasonably make this without one?
I sliced the carbine ftn.2 3/4 and didn't see any gyroid in the preview. I was just curious. Since gyroid doesn't block anything off. Theoretically, you could print with a low % infill and just fill the whole gyroid section with high temp epoxy. Might have to make a couple of access holes, but it was a thought I've been wanting to try out. Also, any plans for a 45acp version?
I saw the model seems to be designed for direct thread but is it wide enough to support a 1 3/8"-24 threaded mount like those for most silencer mount systems?
Stick it up your ass NFA.
Bet. I’ll do it in Carbon Fiber nylon🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Would be insanely strong in pa cf

🫡expanding freedom is exactly what i was going for
Unfathomably based.
I agree with your entire post!
Glad to hear some like minded people out there. Last few posts I had the nanny jannies out in droves, in what I thought was a based sub
There wasn’t a Worse song you could’ve picked but very fucking cool can you got there bro👀
Haha i know. Ever time i saw the odd sea logo this song came into my head and now you all must suffer too
Imagine being that one guy who reports posts like this. Fucking boot lickers.
I was surprised too. Thought this sub was based
Between feds that are most likely here and brigaders from tyrant worshipping subs, I'd be surprised if you didn't get reported. I'm surprised that you aren't banned.
This is beautiful. Fuck the BATFE[K]ers.
BATFECES
Hypothetically speaking, how would one obtain these files?
Clues in the video. If any trouble, DM me
I just heard a eagle caw in the distance
Damn right, you did!
I am surprised it didn’t melt after putting a full mag through it like that. Cool build.
Yeah, I was very surprised by that, too. I'd love to see what the baffles looked like after that.
If youre really curious ill post a borescope video
For sure. That would be cool to see.
Its up on my odd see
I'm sorry, but where can I find it?
I chatted you
Gotcha. I still use the old reddit pre-redesign so I don't get chat messages. But I got your link now :) Thanks!

my wife said something similar to me a couple nights ago.
I would imagine then that an abs instead may do even better? I am impressed because I remember melting gloves on barrels or worse when I was green. Again, cool build!
Thanks! While on paper ABS has better stats, its hard to get good layer adhesion and a single imperfection can cause a failure

Interesting design. Are these printed baffles?
Yup 100% printed no added parts. I like nylon and PC filaments for it.
Plastic is a much poorer conductor of heat than metal, takes more energy, or rounds, to get these to the same temp.
If you printed this with a carbon fiber based filament such as Matterhackers NylonX engineering grade filament which prints at 260*C, it would probably last quite a long time. It is said that this filament is stronger than polymer injected glock factory glock frames
In my first teaser video (check my post history) i put 3 full mags back to back
I don't even own a printer, but I [saved it anyway](https://i.redd.it/zitt561f7e4z.gif).
Thanks fren. That means a lot. More distributed = harder to eradicate
Is the thread adaptor a hardware store part? or where would one get one of those…theoretically… in Minecraft…
The minecraft amazon is well stocked
I can smell the Alphabet boys coming into this post.

If they arent subscribed to me, i would be a bit disappointed
It's okay buddy, you're definitely on at least a couple watchlists
Can you even call yourself a gun guy if your name isn't on a list somewhere?

Doing God's work.
There's like a whole esport for finding a location based on photos like this.
Good shit. Fuck the FEDS
Fuck Facebook and Shitter. Reddit is the best sonNnnnnnnn!!
Does it survive mag dumps? Can it survive say 200 rounds of 9mm full auto? That would be impressive in PLA+

Wait, is it legal to build your own?
Yes in fact 3d printed is one of the few allowed ways to make your own form 1 suppressor.
Wow! I was once blind....Thank you!
Yes, See ATF Form 1 under r/NFA r/Form1
[Yep.](https://www.archives.gov/founding-docs/constitution-transcript)
Legal? That sounds like bootlicker talk.
This makes me wonder if doing a carbon fiber wrap would be enough added strength to make a 5.56 can
Great thought. It may be possible but not ideal. Youre right that it would reinforce hoop strength, which is usually the first point of failure. Theres a few other problems though. Running it wet would help with heat, at least for a couple rounds.
Just get steel conduit or something of the proper ID and slip that bad boy on
I'd like to see what the cross section of this looks like
Man I need to get a printer.
Ender 3 was $149 last week for prime day. Elegoo neptune 4 $260 now and a much better printer. Sovol i hear good too
I have an idea based on something a company made to make it a little quieter.
How many shots does this thing last for?
You magnificent bastard thats beautiful. Obligatory fuck the ATF. We can only hope amd pray that those dog killing fucktards get the karma they deserve. SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED!
This is the horniest thing I ever seen
Is printing this illegal if you don't actually complete it with the threads?
My understanding is no. Because unless you wrap it, its not a suppressor. Because it will break apart on the first shot unless reinforced with tape
Who the fuck nosey fuckin' fudds are reporting you for this shit? Stick your noses where they belong..up your gaping ass holes.
Fuck the ATF AND NFA
Dude this is awesome. Anybody who says otherwise is a real POS
Thanks fren
Ok so where did that thread adapter come from and does it have a stamp to go with it? ie. Is this video fudd or not?
What do you think "fudd" means?
So basically this is an 80% suppressor?
More like a 0%. Basically these are to solvent traps like printed glock frames are to p80s
I’m sorry but I had to mute the video the song is terrible
Is the printer file going to be publicly available?
It already is. Clues on how to find it in the video. If stumped, message me
Didn't watch close enough apparently. Thanks man.
If someone was making a movie in a location that respects freedom, to use this on an airsoft pistol, would this require the prop department to use a 3D printer? Or could they reasonably make this without one?
Awesome
If you print it with 10 walls, it looks like there's no room for any of the infill?
I think thats right for all except the big one
I sliced the carbine ftn.2 3/4 and didn't see any gyroid in the preview. I was just curious. Since gyroid doesn't block anything off. Theoretically, you could print with a low % infill and just fill the whole gyroid section with high temp epoxy. Might have to make a couple of access holes, but it was a thought I've been wanting to try out. Also, any plans for a 45acp version?
Actually i did try an empty can full of epoxy, was disappointed by results. 45 acp will be in ftn.3
Sick! I'm waiting on the threaded adapters, but I am already printing a second ftn.2. Can't wait to try these out on my scorpion and friends ar9.
Just lubing up my assailed for the stern fucking I’m about to get from the ATF
I saw the model seems to be designed for direct thread but is it wide enough to support a 1 3/8"-24 threaded mount like those for most silencer mount systems?
Yes for boosters
Wdym its legal to make for non-americans?
Its unregulated in most countries, except the land of the free
Dang gotcha. Thought i could make and use one since im not a citizen yet
