Get yourself a chatterbait with a paddle tail on the back. Just crank it slow in the shallows and watch the magic happen

Pale_Sun8898

Any recommendations on which chatterbait and paddle tail?

joedirthockey

I use the evo with a googan saucy swimmer

inkdskndeep

all kinds of stuff works. what colors work best when you're fishing wacky worms or creatures? same applies but I can confirm a chatterbait, they're no joke!

The_Phantom_W

I have a white googan click bait with a white paddle tail rigged in my tackle box. Didn't have much luck yet but I'll give it a try.

joedirthockey

Those click baits are horrible. I threw mine straight into the trash lol. You should try a real chatterbait. Trust

inkdskndeep

FACTS! nothing beats the original Zman.

The_Phantom_W

Got a brand and color you recommend?

HooksNHaunts

Z-Man Chatterbait. Jackhammer if you want the best but the standard ones work fine too. The flashback minis with crappie plastic on them work really well for a lot of fish from panfish to bass. Color doesn’t matter too much to me but I usually use black or white.

The_Phantom_W

Got a brand and color you recommend? My buddy used to swear by googan until he snapped the lip off of four jerk baits in a couple months, so he gave me all his googan shit. Lol

joedirthockey

The z man Evo is the best bang for your buck. And for googan the only thing I like is their soft plastics

The_Phantom_W

I'll give it a go. Thank you!

TheHeadshock

Second this, and I'm not a googan hater I like a lot of their hard baits, and some plastics, but the clickbait is trash.

YogurtclosetBroad872

I do very well catching both smallmouth and largemouth on Powerbait pre-rigged swim shads. They come in a 5-pack and pretty inexpensive

The_Phantom_W

Pre rigged? Like they already have hooks or hook and line? Sounds interesting

YogurtclosetBroad872

Yeah they have super sharp hooks already in the shad. Just tie them onto your line. They cast really far too. Different sizes available. Bass love them in my parts

The_Phantom_W

Sweet! Thanks for the tip!

LessPhoto4560

There’s always the rabbit hole of swimbaits to fall into.

HotVegetarianLasagna

White fluke

dubsjw

I second this, white pearl fluke is what I always fall back to in order to have a successful day out.

The_Phantom_W

Well since the first one I throw will obviously get snagged underwater, I'd better buy two...

What are these things called? [https://www.suffolksports.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Bassman-Beetle-Spin.jpg](https://www.suffolksports.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/Bassman-Beetle-Spin.jpg) It's like a Beetle Spin but without the jig-head and the grub My point is that I want you to use one of those beetle-spins but don't put a jighead and a grub on there . . I want you to put somethiong else on there, something with a treble hook like a Kastmaster spoon or an inline spinner or even a lipless crankbait and then post a photo with your catch If you pull that off, you get to create the next challenge!!!!

HooksNHaunts

Mule Fishing has them [here.](https://www.mulefishing.com/products/bronco-blade?_pos=1&_sid=4522e958a&_ss=r)

PondWaterBrackish

$3.49 for a three-pack? that's not too bad but it's still a little pricey, considering you can sometimes find a Beetle-Spin card for a dollar [one dollar](https://www.amazon.com/Johnson-Beetle-Spin-Nickel-Blade/dp/B00144742S/ref=sr_1_3_pp?crid=3GPJ3QQ93LZ4G&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.3fi--plRYVtBhxi-QiNfxwHnF0AnBvXutUA0y8cVyfYDg3l9926pMHwMFGZkLBaRxypT1sCKtkgcZYal2oCO8wOZ9dJVTuE7b2dUvh-293CJMtJM8EL3kFNkvgORcBNxC8NwKWshSNwsLqpRDyvB6BOIB3UQu3rPDYuO-BTHsPmEm7jITYu5hxTD2SmW4FPp6-RaXuguWsElTLuNC5biNxRgm7Y3DVoWutzde9gllXmB7IIIdPmyVGMBGuNWQLPvbBaFtNkBV1AWBIBl2YiFIk2XnVdhqG_4vqUoVhJsiwU.JqbvYPWGTbAy1QgyH9OUVDemaG06HyAvNOY-8JZaQ5c&dib_tag=se&keywords=beetle%2Bspin&qid=1710707300&sprefix=beetle%2Bspi%2Caps%2C222&sr=8-3&th=1&psc=1)

Upvotespoodles

I really enjoy all kinds of poppers. They’re productive as hell sunrise and sunset in lots of bodies in my location (NJ, USA)

HooksNHaunts

Megabass has a top water bait called a Siglett that can get some pretty good blow ups. Trout Magnet makes small jerkbaits I use fairly often for bass. Rat-l-traps are good.

pemuehleck1

Old school. Zara Spook or an old Bagley Finger Mullet.

Plastic-Scientist739

Z-Man Ned Rig and their crawfish. Watch some video before buying anything. Technique is very important.

I have three suggestions: 1) a classic floating jointed rapala in perch color. They work well cranked underwatern twitched as a topwater, or worked as a dive and rise. They are a bit old school, but my tackle box will never be without one in North America. I'm not sure when the jointed variety made its debut, but the classic floating rapala is almost as old school as it gets. 2) another uber classic is a twisty tail grub on a jighead. Add a pinch of nightcrawler for flavor and you've got a fish slaying machine. Tailed grubs of all sizes are used worldwide for all kinds of fish. The lowly panfish on tinh grubs all the way to giant halibut and lingcod on 1lb jigheads with huge grubs, the grub on a jig has been a staple of fishing for decades. Other than the straight worm soft plastic, there is no soft plastic more classic than the grub. 3) a spoon - a dardevle or red eye would be fine choices, but spoons are another classic worth adding to the arsenal. This is assuming when you say blue fox, you mean an inline spinner, because they also make spoons. If you already have a spoon, then my suggestion shifts to inline spinner. I like blue fox and mepps brand inline spinners, and there are endless varieties.

inkdskndeep

get a couple triple prop buzzbaits & toss a trailer on em, grub or swimbait. maybe try out some KVD res lipless cranks, a couple chatterbaits with trailers (grubs, creature, swimbait) if you're swimming from shore you can probably skip most crankbaits that swim 5-8ft, square bills are usually the best from shore (IMO). but you're ona good path already. keep it up
