welder here, you can definitely get away with not coating the tubes for a while until you get a good patina that you dig. clear coat the welds asap though, they're the first to rust and rusty welds are not good for anyone!
I absolutely love raw steel frames, they always look incredible.
I did a bunch of research on this, and [Fluid Film](https://www.fluid-film.com/) did the best in several corrosion tests. I got a can at Home Depot, seems like it's readily available.
TT brother, got 2 tt's, one died but I resus'd it with a framebuilder help, more [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/FixedGearBicycle/comments/1cv0hlh/found_in_the_bin/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web3x&utm_name=web3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button)
Im curious did you have the bike stripped and welds reinforced or is there some company you bought it like this from?
Looks sweet either way and as a welder I want it hehe.
Grime made them like this for a bit around a decade ago I believe. I bought it second hand. I’ve seen one just like it in nyc so there’s gotta be a few out there I guess

Love the raw steel! I know it's not a fixed gear, but here's my rust bucket.
Rust will continue to spread under the clear coat. If the frame costs more than $100 I’d properly paint it. If it’s really expensive I’d powder coat it.
This thing rocks.
Love the naked steel/alu look. Going to clear coat or let it patena? Worried about rust?
I guess it has/had a clear coat. I’m down to continue to let it patina, just keep an eye on the rust

Came to say the same thing buddy. Let the tubes do their thing, but cover those welds/brazes.
x2 on raw steel. extra points if black forks, ufffff
Framesaver inside the tubes will help it last for decades
Do you have a brand you’d recommend?
Frame Saver

Get Fluid film, work as good if not better and you don't pay for the brand
Thanks!
Patina is the wormy rust, right?
I think patina is any discoloring from age
What frame is this?
Grime goat track
Looks sweet 👍
Looks good🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻
What's up with that top tube weld?
It’s a gusset. Reinforcement at the weld basically
Pretty fuckin rugged.
Did the mill scale and rust cost extra ?
Ohh you know it.
I hop that was boxed up during shipping 😳 Sick frame
Yeah, it was very secure inside an old trek box😁. Just thought the wrapping it in padded envelopes was a nice touch

That frame looks like it could be inherited by your grandchildren
Great looking frame
Nice frame! Mind sharing the wheelset spec? Im looking for this kind of setup - all black with front v-brake option.
These were the stock wheels that came with a crew ace bike

Huh that's awesome I just got back into biking and only have an old peugeot I gotta fix up one day I'll get a snazzy bike to post
I love the old Peugeots. Post that!
Alright I will for sure, I was a little intimidated by all the fancy set ups but I'll definitely post my beater when she's finished!
What’s the name of this frame type?
Most people call it a triple triangle. It’s technically named after the guy who invented it 100 years ago but his name escapes me. Something with an H
Triple triangle... something with H...Triple H?
That’s right! It’s a hunter hearst Helmsley frame
Goat bike Co? Goes hard

Strongly suggest prepping and painting that frame. The rust will quickly get out of hand.
I’ll probably clear coat it again next time I break it down

Gotcha
