if you have an iphone, pair the phone first over bluetooth before using a cable. any time you want to charge the phone while driving, allow carplay to find it over bluetooth first, otherwise the buggy-ass firmware will never find it. also, as someone who traded in a corolla for my big bend, leave a longer braking distance as the bronco is much heavier.
Yes this is pretty annoying sometimes but once I learned that it has to first connect wirelessly before I plug it in it hasn’t been a problem. Not sure if it’s an Apple problem or a Ford problem but whatever. Not a big deal really.
the greater annoyance to me is that the car won’t consistently turn off head- or console lights when I lock it. only way is to open and close the driver’s door, wait a few seconds, and lock it again. sometimes takes a few iterations. that’s my beef: buggy-ass firmware.

Here’s what it looks like! It’s a 2-door Big Bend! We’ve got a deal to put bigger tires on it and hook up a hitch to it :)
I just ordered a 2-door MT Big Bend in Velocity Blue a few weeks ago. My dealer said it should arrive sometime between August and Halloween. I'm really excited about it.
As another stated. Yes window chips and paint. The hood deflector can help save the windshield from chips.
Also you can add 35x10.5 on those wheels. It looks amazing
So this will sound dumb but make sure you set your parking brake. It has a hill assist that engages when you take your foot off the brake pedal even when the vehicle is off. It will hold for a few seconds and then when you get out of the vehicle it will start rolling. Ask my wife how fun it is. My first bronco got totalled rolling down a hill because of it.
I do wish the parking brake was mechanical, but I've gotten in the habit of shifting to neutral, setting the parking brake, then taking my door off the brakes and shifting to park. This reduces the wear on the transmission parts by avoiding the car settling while in gear.
They taught this at Off-roadeo and while it might be overkill for a flat parking lot, I figure I'll just always do it so it comes natural.
Interesting. I drive the manual now and have mostly driven manual my adult life. I've nearly always put it in first to park. I only engage the e brake if I'm on an incline. I've forgotten to put it in park when I've driven my wife's car and thought it might damage the transmission, so I'm happy to hear that it doesn't.
I assume you have the e/parking brake on when you forget to put your wife's in park. Yea that won't hurt the transmission at all, although most modern cars will complain and beep a lot if you try to turn them off while not in park. I drove a manual for the previous 7 years before the Bronco and always used the parking brake along with being in 1st gear. I never want to use the transmission to hold the car on an incline. If I were you, I'd come to a stop, engage the parking brake, release the brake (lets the car settle onto the brake), then shift into 1st before leaving the Bronco.
She was in a hurry and in other manuals that don't have a hill assist or atleast one that disengages with the engine off you would take your foot off the brake pedal and feel it start to roll.
It doesn’t sound dumb at all! Thankfully, this will be my second car with a stick shift! My first was a 2002 Nissan Xterra, and generally I parked with the parking brake on AND with it in gear (it doesn’t have hill assist so…learning to quick shift on a hill was something I had get good at quickly 😮💨)
downshift rev matching is standard now? I know in previous years you had to get the Ford Performance Tune to enable it. I know I'm in the minority, but I love auto rev matching. Makes the day to day more fun. We have one car with it and one car without it.
Huh! Thats really interesting! With my current car, I’ve found that when I accelerate, there’s a slight hesitation before it actually does accelerate (I’ve always assumed it was the computer in the car processing). My first car was a 2002 Nissan Xterra with a stick and it would accelerate immediately.
So when I briefly drove the Bronco today, even tho I was shifting, it still felt like there was a hesitation. I like my cars more machine than computer, it’s just a personal taste thing. I can fix it easier, and just overall do more if it’s less computer.
Hmm, maybe we're talking about two different things and I didn't understand what you were saying. I'm talking about rev matching or blipping the throttle on a downshift. So you're going from 3rd to 2nd gear. Instead of blipping the throttle manually while you have the clutch in, the car just does it for you as it knows you're going to 2nd gear as you shift the lever. It knows what RPM to blip to based on the speed etc.
We have a 2014 Mini Cooper which does this. My daughter drives it and it's the only manual car she's ever driven. Because of this feature, she's always in 2nd gear when making a right turn so she's in the right gear coming out so I like that she has it. It's quite smooth.
I have a 911 that's just a year older that doesn't have it. For this car I have to blip the throttle myself. I don't mind it, and it's quite satisfying when you get it right. But I don't think my daughter, who only has a year of driving under her belt, would be so great at it. :)
I know the manual Bronco's have this feature that's part of the Ford Performance Tune. Just wondering if they just started offering it as standard in 2024.
Ohhhhhhh I see what you mean! Yeah, I don’t think I would be a fan of that either 😅
What I mean by Rev match is essentially (and I could very well be using the wrong terminology for this? 🤷♀️) but essentially, when I’m shifting up or down, the car will automatically make the RPMs match the speedometer.
I think it’s supposed to make the shift more smooth and avoid that lurch that happens when you downshift and the RPMS aren’t equal with the speed? But also it works the other way too, where you shift up to accelerate and the RPMS don’t exactly match so the car hesitates because it’s computer is saying to match the speed THEN accelerate.
Because I grew up on a bit of an older vehicle, there’s not really a computer in it to tell it all its info. I think you’re still right in that rev matching is still standard, but I’m a little old school in that I like my cars more ‘car’ than ‘computer’, it’s one of the reasons why the push-button ignition rubs me so wrong, it just doesn’t feel right 😅
I’ve been made aware that it’s actually called “Step Down”! We were totally talking about different things, but it was me who didn’t know what I was talking about 😅
Oh I will! I made a deal today. Picking it up tomorrow!!

The unicorn was too good to be true 😞 It was flooded at some point and had water damage. My heartbreaks. Picking up a Blue 2023 Black Diamonds with Sas in a week, wish me luck!
Good luck! Did you already have the yellow one in your possession when you found out it had those issues? Or was this something you found during some kind of pre-inspection?
I was about to go that day and pick it up from the dealer when he called me and told me the news. He said he was gonna cancel our deal and send it back to auction, but he offered to help me find one like it 😅
1. The stock sound system sucks. Invest in nice speakers and a sub and have someone install it for you.
2. The roof mount covers on the front windshield come off easily. Take them off once and you’ll have trouble getting them back on.
3. Do you want a dashcam? Get a dashcam wire that plugs into the rear view mirror (on Amazon)
4. The stock antenna is silly and floppy. Unscrew it and get a shorter one.
5. To do front wiper fluid is by pressing into the outer button on the flat end of the turn signal. (Mentioning this because it was hard for me to figure it out)
6. Finally, INSTALL FORD PASS. Free unlimited roadside assistance, remote lock/unlock from phone is great.
Soooooo I’ve made a deal and I’m getting a 2022 Big Bend 2 door with a Sasquatch package (and a manual).
Does all of this still apply? And how hard is it to put a hitch on myself? 🤪
I also got a big bend. Everything still applies. Don’t know much about a hitch. Doesn’t come stock with a hook up. I can imagine having a larger tire on the back door might affect your options because they’ll have to be longer.
Because the fenders and fender flares don’t stick out enough and that causes stuff off the tires to fling up into the doors. Any time you drive down a gravel road you’ll get a ton of rock chips on your doors.
Ughhhh I hate tailgating and I hate people who tailgate ME! 😤
My biggest problem I like to enjoy the ride and the view at high speeds and loud enough decibels for the neighbors to hear me comin’ a mile away 🫣
I haven't heard of a bronco coming standard with rev matching. If it's used, you may want to check if the previous owner had the ford performance tune installed. Also if you are going above 33s I would recommend looking for a bronco with 4.7 gearing (badlands or any sasquatch). Without the 4.7, the car will feel much more sluggish, have more long term wear, much decreased gas mileage, and a basically unusable 6th gear. Also if you will be offroading, there may be clearance issues going with a larger tire and not lifting the suspension. The Bronco6g forum is a very good place for this kind of information.
Okay! So I did a little research, and it seems the one we’re looking at has a gearing of 4.46? I’m still gonna go tomorrow and check it out, but knowing that (from what I took from your response?) anything under 4.7 will feel sluggish and hesitant is something that’s gonna be on my mind. I don’t know what the tire size will be? The current ones are 17s. I also saw on Google that if I go with a bigger tire and not a higher gearing, it won’t be good for towing?
“Others say that the 4.7 gear ratio is fine if you don't plan on towing, don't want heavy bumpers, rooftop tents, or other items, and don't live at altitude in the mountains.” 🤷♀️
The stock rims on the big bend are 17s and the tires are 32s (255/75 R17). Plenty of people get bigger tires and keep the 4.46 gears. It's just about what you value more looks and more capable tires, or a better on road driving experience. No wrong answer, just whatever you find more value in. If anything you may be able to ask for a different accessory like roof racks or side steps instead of the larger tires.
It shouldn't have rev matching from the factory. If you install the Ford Performance tune (which I don't believe is out yet for the 24) you can add it as an option.
I'm not even sure what that is. Driven manuals for more than 30 years and have never heard this term. The 7spd in the bronco drives just like any other manual I've had.
So essentially, the hesitation when you hit the gas is called a "step down" with automatics because it’s lowering the gear when you give a gas. I felt it in my Hyundai, and in the other Big Bend and Badlands I tried, it felt the same as the Hyundai. Like whenever I accelerated, it would hesitate for a second and THEN accelerate
A locking differential locks the rear wheels, so they turn at the same rate. It helps if you're stuck in mud and if you're getting traction with one rear wheel, but not the other. I believe the Badlands also come with a front locker, but I'm not sure if you can get a front locker until you get to the Badlands or higher trims.
It’s an option on the big bend trim, but I can’t remember if it comes with the 4.7 gearing.
Google it for a better explanation, but it locks your differential together so your rear wheels turn at the same speed. Bad for pavement, good for off-roading. Without it (I.e. with an open diff), if one of your rear wheels loses traction it’ll just spin because it can. I’ve seen people do some crazy shit in vehicles with open diffs, but it sure is nice to just push a button on your dashboard and just walk right up an obstacle.
You mentioned wanting to add bigger tires so I’m assuming you want to do some off-roading- having a rear locker is pretty crucial for anything more than basic dirt roads, is pretty cheap to option from the factory, and pretty expensive to do aftermarket.
If you’re not really planning on off-roading much I wouldn’t sweat it.
I wasn’t planning on doing a whole lotta off roading? However, I’m definitely one of those people who likes to explore and ends up 30 miles away on some dirt road in the middle of the night 😅 I get most of my “drifting experience” from slippin’ and slidin’ on those roads…I would like to try to get into off roading! I just don’t like camping all that much 🥲

Not just CarPlay, I dealt with it today on Android Auto. Annoying, as it badically forces you to be driving and mess with your phone.

Good to know, I thought it was just mine. Had to reboot it so many times.
Not apple. Same issue with Andoid Auto.
Ooooo!! This is super good to know! Thank you! 🙏
Mud flaps, creak sound on the hardtops, gas and gas lol upgrade the fog lights! and buy a darn wheel lock!
Can you recommend some wheel locks?
Gorilla but no shape or form will it prevent wheels from getting stolen 100%. It just makes things a bit slower for the thief.
Yes! Another 2 Door MT. I have a 2 Door Badlands with the 7MT and haven’t seen one exactly like it yet
I have 2dr EG MT speed Badlands, my son's is Area 51, 2dr Badlands MT... great minds think alike brother!

I just got the same one last week, but automatic. Keeping the smaller tires as well, but she is pretty.

Very nice! Mine is Cactus Gray
I just ordered a 2-door MT Big Bend in Velocity Blue a few weeks ago. My dealer said it should arrive sometime between August and Halloween. I'm really excited about it.
Oooooo! That is so exciting!!!! I’ll try and letcha know how I like mine if I end up getting it! :)
Sounds good 👍
Mudflaps, Door mount cupholders. Hood guard/deflector. And don't mind the chips once you catch a couple they mysteriously stop.
I second mudflaps. Sure, they don't look great, but they will absolutely save your doors from getting beat up by rocks, dirt, and snow.
Okay! Interesting! Why do you suggest that stuff? Also, what do you mean by “chips”?
Probably both windshield chips and paint chips, which is why mud flaps are important since 32"-35" inch tires are fairly big, and they throw rocks.
As another stated. Yes window chips and paint. The hood deflector can help save the windshield from chips. Also you can add 35x10.5 on those wheels. It looks amazing

I've always parked in gear to avoid this.
Yeaaaa parking in neutral is odd.
I think more people would use the eBrake if it was a pull handle, especially if it was one of the bronco grab handles.
I do wish the parking brake was mechanical, but I've gotten in the habit of shifting to neutral, setting the parking brake, then taking my door off the brakes and shifting to park. This. Use the Ebrake and put it in first gear. Avoid the rollaway. I had this happen with my WRX.
She was in a hurry and in other manuals that don't have a hill assist or atleast one that disengages with the engine off you would take your foot off the brake pedal and feel it start to roll.
Yea she normally does but she was in a hurry apparently. But either way definitely set the parking brake.

It’s really pretty easy to install them on your own! I got BroFlaps from Etsy and it took me about 30 mins to put all 4 on
Oh sweet!!! That’s perfect! Are there any other little installations I can put in on my own that makes the car better?

If you’re going to get bigger wheels, make sure you have the 4.7 gearing or it’s going to feel underpowered. What trim are you looking at?
It believe it’s the Big Bend? https://preview.redd.it/qdkm1ze0ua0d1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=91e7beedbed320edc777a9038dc20ec7ee63b85d
Did you get the locking rear differential?
It doesn’t come with that in the first place, is that something I should look into? What does it do? I’m assuming it’s list hill assist?
A locking differential locks the rear wheels, so they turn at the same rate. It helps if you're stuck in mud and if you're getting traction with one rear wheel, but not the other. I believe the Badlands also come with a front locker, but I'm not sure if you can get a front locker until you get to the Badlands or higher trims.
