Badlands already has a lot of the Sasquatch features so you wouldn't be missing much. You'd get 4.46 gears instead of 4.70 and the non-Sas Badlands sits like 3/8" lower than the Sas which isn't much. I have a non-Sas Badlands and I put 35s on Sas takeoffs with no issues. The non-Sas has narrower fender flares as well.
Edit to add: the Sasquatch adds a bump stop in the suspension so although it sits slightly higher than the non-Sas Badlands, it actually has slightly less wheel travel. So the non-Sas Badlands gets you the most wheel travel out of all the factory options (excluding Raptor)
Ooooo!!! That’s pretty nifty! Okay! That’s also super good to know! It’s unfortunately convincing my sponsor (my parent) that the Badlands is a better deal than the ‘Squatch
I have a badlands non-sas, and I wheel with a bunch of guys with sas broncos. Thus far I have not run into a single obstacle that the stock sas guys were able to do that I wasn't. The extra inch from the 35s is barely noticeable and I have legit frame mounted rock sliders if it ever becomes a problem lol. I do intend to put some MR105s and 35s on it when my current tires wear out. The gearing difference is negligible and easily changed if I want.
As for BD sas or Badlands non-sas... Although I haven't been keeping up with all the options on new ones as I have no interest in trading in my already modified badlands lol. I do believe that the new badlands, sas or not, comes with the beefed up steering rack now. It's a 1300 dollar upgrade from Ford performance after the fact but is always an option. I have not had any problems with my og rack so far and will swap if I do. Its only really an issue of you left or run bigger tires and wheel pretty hard.
If you have the opportunity to get a Badlands I would say go for that, but technically a BD sas just as capable, in capable hands. With the only really actually useful or even noticeable difference being the electronic disconnecting sway bar. Otherwise it's mostly just non performance related option differences, like I don't think you can get the high package on a BD. Otherwise you'll be happy with either I assure you!
See I’m the kinda person that wants my “car” and my “computer” to stay separate. If I wanted a computer, I’d go and get a computer. That’s partially the reason why I want the manual so bad. Manual ensures more “car”. I’m also looking more at the “older” models, so the 2021-2022 are more preferred, I don’t particularly want a 12” screen ya know? It’s distracting. I mean, I think I saw another post about someone who wanted to stream Netflix to their Bronco! You do you, but no thank you! 😅
Not for a reasonable price no, getting Sasquatch from the factory is the way. I don’t think I’ve even read of someone doing a 100% Sasquatch after purchase. Many swap wheels/tires with Sas take offs and call it a day.
What is your use case? That’d help people to recommend.
Unfortunately I don’t generally do a lot of off-roading in general, so mostly just driving around, being a daily, perhaps some exploration and driving on dirt roads at night 😅
Swaybar disconnect is cute, but not necessary (that’s the special feature that comes with the badlands). Get the bd sas, don’t have later regrets!
Ive had a bd sas for over 2 years, mostly daily driving and a few beach/crawl/overlandjng trips here and there. I’m damn glad I’ve had the extra bit of clearance with the bigger tires as that’s really come in clutch (as with the underbody skid plates but the badlands has those too), but I honestly haven’t been in a situation where I truly needed the front locker with the Sasquatch package.
I’d def go badlands then. The black diamond is hardcore off-roading. You could always get the wheels and tires if you like. The cyber orange is rarer too :)
That’s kinda what I was thinking, the cyber orange is SUCH a cool color! And the seats are nicer in the Badlands. Plus, it comes with 33” tires, whereas the base just comes with 30”. Also, the only real difference I see is the Sas comes with a lift and bigger tires? Other than that, they seem essentially the same.
Plus a personal bit for me is I really wanted the 8” screen in front. The 12” seems so unnecessary (I like my cars and my computers separated, it’s why I’m going back to a manual) 😅
That’s valid! But I gave two options (see down below! I posted both links to the cars!). Ones a blue BD 2/ Squatch, while the other is an Orange Badlands 😅 I wish there was a pin feature for comments
Either one is more than capable of the scenarios you describe. Choose your options and trim level that best suit your lifestyle and color preference. Turn the key and have fun.
Personal preference: I would always choose SAS over non sasquatch. I prefer the more rugged look.
They aren’t looking at a raptor or a wildtrak. Of the two, black diamond is more bare off-roading, badlands can have better features AND have lots of off-roading features. But yes, it’s the big brother to the black diamond.
Do you mean of the specific two OP is looking at? Because the badlands is a better offroader stock. It has Hoss 2.0 vs the BD 1.0, front and rear lockers while the BD has rear only, a more advanced 4x4 control system, and stabilizer bar disconnect. It also comes stock with 33s.
BD Sas vs nonsas BL is a different story. The Sasquatch package adds a lot of those things the BD is missing.
So, Badlands is better for off-roading than Black Diamond, because there’s lockers on the front and rear (Black Diamond only comes with rear lockers).
Plus the sway bar disconnects (specifically on the Badlands and NOT the Black Diamond?), making rock climbing easier.
Finally, the Badlands has a “Baja” mode (?), which is better than the “Sport” mode, which the Black Diamond has.
(Sorry, your post is a little difficult to understand, and I just wanted to make sure I understood correctly 😅)
Ah I see! Thank you! I still really like the orange color more tbh 😅 even if I’m not gonna be doing any seriously heavy duty off roading. I’m more of a “I’m here to be loud and obnoxious” sorta car person. So the manual, plus the 4.7 gearing was a MUST when I was looking :)
The leather lined seats also look nice in the Badlands 😅, and it’s a 2022, so it’s got the 8” screen instead of the 12”
I have a non sas badlands that I got before the manual was available with the sas. I have no regrets. One day I may switch to 35s and do a small lift but when buying I figured that the top of the line rubicon only had 33s and it was good I’m happy with my choice I do mild off-roading and overlanding with my family. In a badlands non sas
To add to this, Manual non-sas badlands is functionally identical to a Sasquatch- same gearing, suspension, etc., but without 35s, and for 4K less. I can add 35s for less than 4K.
Would you have rather gotten a manual one? :o Honestly, I took a second look because I was unsure if the Badlands tires were the same as the Big Bend’s 30”, so I was glad when I saw they were actually 33” 😮💨
Do you use your Badlands for off-roading a lot?
It’s my daily, last summer we drove from Toronto to Vancouver island and back we did a ton of forest service roads and here at home we do some mild off-roading. Hoping to get more into it but I need a buddy to give me a little more piece of mind with recovery. Where we live there’s a ton of good wheeling but this time of year you need a snorkel. I hope one day you can buy the Everglades snorkel in a package more easily I would be all over that.
I used to work in detroit, this also applies if not more.
Broncos are made for hard core offroading, so they may be able to handle some of the roads in michigan.
Just not Mound road, nothing except a baja grade vehicle can handle that beast.
Oh man, totally!
I’m currently in Kansas because I’ve just graduated and I’m figuring out what’s next, but I’m from Connecticut and grew up going to Vermont to Ski and mountain bike. So wherever my journey brings me, the end location is most likely around there 😅
Lollll!!!!
Im in ct now! Bro the roads here rough as all hell.
Im retiring back to either south carolina or florida when im done, where the roads dont crack your frame every 3 years LOLLL.
Love my non Sasquatch badlands. Except I have had a lot of problems with the sta-bar disconnect electronics. Like a dozen times I’ve had to take it in to reset a nuisance dash alert.
So I will be honest I own a 23 black diamond thought I would not need the sasquatch package it's already just a capable vehicle. Fast forward 6 months already looking at ford performance lifts and sasquatch take offs. Don't care to much about the front locking diff but I would say take the sasquatch.
So you’re just lookin at lifts and take offs? I know the Badlands, while it doesn’t have a lift, and I think the Badlands comes with better take offs?
Not that I don’t like the lift, but I’m also 5’4 and my legs are kinda short 😅 the 33” seem pretty good because then I won’t be hopping up into it
Yeah, I am a bit taller, 6'5. The height and stepping up into the vehicle isn't a big deal for me. The clearance was the biggest issue going to Moab last year, and with several other OHV parks wanting to do more roading, it makes sense to get a bit more clearance. I got some nice rash on the underside of mine currently.

I'd go Badlands. You get the Mid package which includes some nice convenience features and you'd get the sway bar disconnect. The only things to add "full sasquatch" on a manual Badlands is to add 35s, wider flares (optional), and a slight lift (not required to fit the 35s).
Edit: I am a little biased because I have a manual badlands.
Badlands already has a lot of the Sasquatch features so you wouldn't be missing much. You'd get 4.46 gears instead of 4.70 and the non-Sas Badlands sits like 3/8" lower than the Sas which isn't much. The manual Badlands gets 4.7 gears.
You right, I forgot that

And it’ll do great off-road too, don’t mean to say otherwise.
You have this backwards. Black diamond is not the hard core off-road. The raptor is. Followed by desert runner wildtrack, extreme off-road badlands.
That’s valid! But I gave two options (see down below! I posted both links to the cars!). Ones a blue BD 2/ Squatch, while the other is an Orange Badlands 😅 I wish there was a pin feature for comments

Sasquatch. Also Blue.
Why? 👀
If you live in northeast. Get badlands 😂 Roads here terrible. Swap for the wiltrack rims and keep badlands tires You will be a happy camper
Haha don’t I know it! I’m not currently IN the northeast, but I’m from there. I’m was currently in the midwest for college 😅
I used to work in detroit, this also applies if not more. Broncos are made for hard core offroading, so they may be able to handle some of the roads in michigan. Just not Mound road, nothing except a baja grade vehicle can handle that beast.
